Connection to FMS

Hi
I have been testing recording beta and have successfully managed to get things playing back after realising that it can take up to 1min 30secs to get a response from FMS at https://na2.collaboration.adobelivecycle.com/...  I am not sure whether this is normal but I ended up spending 2 days checking, writing, reading, trying to fix issues that were not aparent, it was just the server responding slowly.
Seeing as my archive files for the reading are only small, 3.5mb, how can this take so long?  Below are a couple of examples...

Can anyone shed any light on this duration or is this the "norm" for playback?

    Appreciate your reply.
Both Firewall and the SELinux are disabled. But still cannot access the FMS

  • Error Connecting to FMS

    Hi all,
I'm new to streaming and I was asked to setup a live webcasting that will go 'inside' the company.
We do have a FMS running (not sure which version honestly) and I was given the information for the primary and backup entry points alongside the login and password to connect to them. I downloaded the Encoder (version 3.0) and used the information that I was given.
When I start the streaming I'm getting the error messages that are in the images below. I suspect it's a problem with the firewall or proxy we are using (as the FMS machines are not inside our LAN), if so do I need to open port 554 or port 7070?
Is there something else I need to check to make sure this is just an issues with firewall permissions?
    Thank you
    David
    PS

As you could connect to FMS, firewall is not an issue. As soon as you start publish you got disconnected. Did this happen every time or just once or twice? FMLE throws this message because of following reasons:
    1. Incorrect URL ( server doesn't exist) - but you could connect, so rule out this case.
    2. Connection time out - while making connection if FME doesn't get a response in ~ 30 sec - but u could connect, so rule out this case.
    3. Stream is busy - the stream name on which you are trying to publish is already in use (some one else is also publishing to the same location) - you can also rule out this case, because you didn't receive a "Netstream.publish.badname" error in the logs.
    4. Internet connection problem - this could be a possible reason for the case.
FMLE will automatically reconnect and republish when the connection comes back.
You can also enquire whether any script at FMS is restricting you from publishing.
Let me know if you are able to solve the problem.

  • Flash Player 10 closes connection to FMS

    Hi,
I have a flash client, which connects to FMS to play/record
audio and video, but sometimes it closes the connection. The
problem is that I can't detect any error, in the client, neither in
    the FMS logs.
I noticed that this just happens with Flash Player 10, with
    Flash 9 it doesn't happen.
What can cause this to happen, to make the Player disconnect?
Does Bandwidth as something to do with this issue?
    thanks
    Fábio

    I think you're right, it's more a network issue. It doesn't
happen always at the same time.
    Sometimes I can reproduce it.
But the problem is that the connection closes normally, so I
can't distinguish when the users close the connection because they
want, and a close due network issues.

I get the following error message when I try to connect to and stream videos that I have uploaded to the Amazon Cloud (AWS Streaming Distribution) using the basic Strobe Media Playback:

    Silviu, thanks for that.
Chris' post thread was very helpful.  It's getting closer, but still not there yet.
Following are some test links that might help to see what is happening.  In each example, you can view the page source in your browser to see how the player is setup and referencing the connection path and video file.
This first example shows the JW Player, which successfully streams a video from our Amazon RTMP Cloudfront.  Notice that the "_definst_" is not required in the connection path:
    http://107.20.182.109/keithweb/JWPlayer/JWembed.html
This next example shows the Adobe Strobe Media Player setup using the JavaScript method.  Before, I was getting a failed connection message.  But now after reading Chris's post thread and adding the "_definst_" to the connection string, the connection is being made but the player still does not recognize the same video file that the JW Player can stream in the first example.  This example nets a "Stream Not Found" error:
    http://107.20.182.109/keithweb/Adobe/StrobeMediaPlayback.html
Finally, this last example shows the Adobe Strobe Media Player setup with the embed method using the <object> tag.  Again, the same video file that was able to be streamed with the JW Player gets an error here.  However, it is not a "Stream Not Found" as in the previous example.  This time you need to click on the "play" button to see the following error:  "Playback failed.  Invalid tincan object name (stream ID: 1)."
    http://107.20.182.109/keithweb/Adobe/StrobeMediaPlayback_II.html
Again, I truly appreciate your time and assistance with this.  Any further light that you can shed on the situation would be wonderful.  I will continue to look into it myself, as well, to try to see if I have made some silly mistake that is just not apparent at this time.
    Thank you very much.

  • How to connect to FMS on my laptop from my PC

    Hello,
I have one PC and one laptop. Both of them are connected by wire to my linksys router and I can copy files between two systems without any problem. I have FMS running on my laptop and I have Flash Live Encoder 3.1 on my PC. I want to use Flash Live Encoder 3.1 to stream live webcam to FMS on my laptop via rtmp://[mylaptop-ip]/live. The ip address here is the address assigned to my laptop by my router. But I keep getting "Problem with Primary Server" error message. Am I missing something here? Thanks for any help

Thank you for the link. But it doesn't help me. I forgot to mention that my FMS is a development version so I think it doesn't work in a network enviroment.

  • Connecting to FMS from Flex?

I posted this over in the Flex forums and haven't gotten a peep in two days...  I'm trying to connect to an FMS server with a Flex application.  I can throw the rtmp URL straight in as the source for a VideoPlayer and it will work, but can't figure out how to get it to work with a NetStream.  The pure Flash Video element works as in the FMS Flash demos, but is extremely laggy and lacks all the nice functionality of the built VideoPlayer.
Is there any documentation on working with FMS with Flex?  We're at a point where we need to decide quickly if FMS will do what we need to do or if we should purse other technologies.
    Thanks

You can try OSMF instead of using Video Component , below links might help you understand OSMF

  • Can't connect to FMS - trying to stream live from FME

    Hi All
I've just signed up with an FMS host, but I am having trouble
using Adboe FME to stream live from my webcam to the host server.
    When I do the following:
    - I put rtmp://myaccount.myhost.com/MyApp into the Flash
Media Encoder FMS URL, with Stream name stream
    - Click Connect
    I get this error:
    Problem with Primary Server
Failure to connect to primary server. Please veryify that
your Server URL, application name is valid and your internett
    connection is working and retry.
The Encoding Log window also shows:
    Primary - Connection rejected
    I've tried:
    - port mapping tcp 1935
    - disabling my firewall
    - changing the stream name
    - changing the url to
    rtmp://myaccount.myhost.com/MyApp/_definst_ (I read somewhere that
you can specify the instance - not sure if this is necessary)
Is there anything else I can try? The host says that it
    should work.
    Any help GREATLY appreciated.
    Cheers
    T

    Dear T
I'd say it should work too. Unfortunately Flash Media Encoder
doesn't give you detailed error - just a generic.
Can you ping the host from your machine
(myaccount.myhost.com) ?? What is the content of the log file?
FME doesn't require fixed IP or port mappings. Ensure that
MyApp is correct and created on the server!
What kind of hosting company is this? I think they should
help you - it doesn't look professional to me.

  • Trouble connecting to FMS

  • Limiting connections to FMS

I was wondering if there is a notion of (to use a Java
metaphor) "static" shared objects. That is objects/streams shared
    across FMS instances.
Currently Flash clients connect to various instances of my
FMS app with each instance providing a whole bunch of shared
objects to handle various functionalities; this works well. But I
also want to provide global chat/messaging so that clients
connected to various instances of my app will be able to
communicate with each other. Right now I'm handling this by making
a separate connection. So for each user I maintain two connections
to the FMS.. this seems like a waste, and I'm hoping that there is
a better way to do this.
    Any ideas?

Here it is an excerpt of the file.
The <Allow> tag is the only thing i've modified :
<!-- This tag specifies a comma delimited list of domains that are   -->
<!-- allowed to connect to this vhost. If this tag is empty, then    -->
<!-- only connections from the same domain that is being connected   -->
<!-- to will be allowed. If this tag is not empty, then only the     -->
<!-- domains explicitly listed will be accepted. For example,        -->
    <!-- <Allow>macromedia.com, yourcompany.com</Allow> will only allow  -->
    <!-- connections from the macromedia.com & yourcompany.com domains.  -->
<!-- If you wish to allow localhost connections, you will specify    -->
<!-- "localhost". For example, <Allow>localhost</Allow>. To allow    -->
<!-- all domains, specify "all".  For example, <Allow>all</Allow>.   -->
    <Allow>www.mywiicenter.com</Allow>
I have a page, on the site specified in <Allow>, with an SWF that shows a video on demand, taken from the "media" subfolder of the VOD application.
The FMS is in a different server.
When there it was "all" in place of my site, the connection were established, and i watched the video.
Now, the swf can't connect from either my site nor from any other one (i've also tried putting the swf on a different webserver with another domain name).
The FMS administration console tells me that a connection was attempted, but it was refused (see image below):
And i've tried both with IE7 and Opera 9.
I think there's a simpler way than rewriting the VOD application , isn't it?

I want that it was possible to address to the server from the Internet. At first video was started only on a local computer, then after change resolved ип in "adaptor.xml" the starting page of the server has started to open with other computers and examples work, video plays. But to incorporate on "rtmfp" leaves only from that computer on which there is a server (under the test on http://cc.rtmfp.net/all green points and one more too with all green points) leaves that computers can incorporate to the server on "rtmp" as the example of the server with video translation works well, but on "rtmfp" connects only those at whom green points. • Html5 player connect to FMS via rtmp (H.264). Is it possible in the future?

    Hi,
I have a streaming service with FMS4, and I need in the future a html5 player, what play the H.264 videos from the FMS, BUT on the rtmp protocol, because the authetication and control of service is in a main.asc script on the FMS.
Other question is the live streaming from FMS to html5 videoplayer.
    Thank's in advance!

I would not expect any browser to support RTMP on the <video> object in the future, and in order to make the transport reliable for html5, all browsers would need to support it. Adobe has no control over this... it is entirely up to the browser vendors to decide what streaming transports to implement in their browsers.
Consider that there is no streaming protocol defined in the HTML5 specification. This means that it is up to each browser vendor to decide what (if any) streaming protocol they want to support. I imagine it will be a good number of years before we can count on any single protocol for streaming working across all browsers.
For now, the only reliable means of delivering video to the browser using an HTML5 <video> tag is progressive download from an HTTP server.
