Connectivity of IP21 to xMII

Dear all,
I want to establish a connectivity of the IP21 server with the xMII server. For this I have used a IP21 connector. I was getting an error related to Easysoft services. To resolve this I downloaded the easysoft JDBC-ODBC connector from the easysoft site. (I can see the Easysoft services running in the windows 'services')
Still I am not able to establish the connection between the IP21 and xMII serer.
Looking at the log file I get the below mentioned messages.
2007-12-19 02:22:37,604 [ServletExec: request: time=1198059757432, uri=/Lighthammer/Admin/CMSAdmin] FATAL  Connector - Unable to create connection pool for xMII_IP21: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: easysoft.sql.jobDriver, App folder=C:\ServletExec AS\se-xMII\webapps\default\Lighthammer\

Can anybody help me to establish a connection between IP21 and xMII server. Are there any s/w required to be installed on the IP21 serverside? Any setting need to be done other than xMII configuration ?
can anybody help on this issue....?

Hi Ketan,
      This thread may also help.
xMII - IP21 interface
Ranga has given the datsource parameters that he used. I tried using the same and it worked just fine.
But as you would have seen the replies in the prvious thread, i guess the best way to connect to IP21 is to use OLEDB UDS Connector.

  • What User authorization objects needed for connecting to SAP from xMII?

We eneter a SAP user and password for connecting to SAP from xMII to retrieve the metadata of the incoming IDocs.
When I specify a user with SAP_ALL user profiles, the IDocs are received properly in xMII. If I specify a user with privileges to run only certain transactions, IDocs are not received in xMII.
What user authorization objects are needed for this user to connect to SAP from xMII?
    Thanks,
    Sara

    Sam,
I turned on the SAP System trace for this user and figured out the following auth. objects are required for receiving IDocs in xMII:
    C_TCLA_BKA
    S_RFC
    S_CTS_ADMI
    B_ALE_MAST
    S_IDOCDEFT
The following auth. object is required for making JCO call to SAP from xMII:
    C_AFRU_AWK

  • Connecting XML files with xMII

    Hi,
i want to connect xml file (say one.xml having table name and price) with xMII. how can i do it? by using TAG query? what is the simulatorTag.xml?
    - senthil

    Senthil,
Save your .xml file in your local system
Open Business Logic Editor and under WEB you can find xmlLoader.
Right Click and configure the path of the xml file in source URL.
This will load your xml file and all the rowsets will be available for further manipulation...
Tag Query is normally used to query a Tag type database like simulator..
    Hope this helps,

  • Can we run xMII without Plan Connectivity?

    Gurus:
We are previewing the install guide for xMII and Plan Connectivity.
I do not see the dependency between the two components.
Do we have to install Plan connectivity if we run xMII?
    Thanks!

Plant Connectivity (PCo) and the Universal Data Servers (UDS) are optional supporting components of MII, for certain types of data connectivity and specialized alerting, but are only required when necessary.

  • IP21 and 12.0

    We have an issue similar to the one that Harold had in this [thread|Re: xMII - IP21 interface;
Our ODBC/System DSN connects to IP21 with the 32bit ODBC. As well the Data Servers connection status says "Running" within xMII. But when we create a Tag query within the workbench, it says (with the admin role) "Can not create a connection to the Database."  Under the developer role it says "You do not have permission to access the <IP21 Server Name>."
Right now I don't have access to the error logs so I can't tell you what the error message is.
I know in 11.5 we had to go into the Services and change the "Log on as" for the xMII service to get access to our IP21 server.  Do we need to do this in 12 as well? If so, what do we need to change?
Could the 32bit ODBC be the cause of the issue?

    Brian,
Hope all is well in TX....
    From the Menu:
    Security Services -> Data Access
This will allow you to assign role based access to various data server connections.
    Hope this helps.

  • Display xMII Trends and graphs in SAP R/3

    Dear all,
We have a requirement to see the trends of various production lines from xMII in SAP R/3 itself.
Is it possible to have this graph in SAP ?
Even if we are able to see the webpage then also it is ok.
We are having RFC connection established already within xMII and SAP.

  • PCO 2.2 - OPC and IP21

    Hi,
We are looking at connecting to IP21 via PCO OPC DA connector.
Can PCo only poll the IP21 OPC server for eventing or can one set up the IP21 OPC server to advise PCO on data changes for
      eventing purposes ?
Also what is required on the server where PCo is installed to enable OPC connectivity, for browsing the IP21 we have established that you need the following dlls in the PCo system directory :
    cimsrvapi.dll
    CimWin32Util.dll
    infoplus21_api.dll
    ip21admin_client.dll
    ip21ezrpcw32.dll
    ip21winrpc32.dll
    libc21.dll
PCo is running on Windows server 2008 R2 and the IP21 is not on the same box.
    thanks

    Hi ,
I got it working to be able to get the notification working. Although one still cannot browse the IP21 tags, and all tags are still shown as a name space.
    a. I installed the Matricon IP21 OPC server on the same box as IP21 Historian.
    b. I connected to the IP21 server and configured new aliases in the Matricon IP21 OPC server to look at the IP21 tags
    c. I then configured PCo OPC DA agent to look at the Matricon IP21 OPC server and got the subscriptions to work, and PCo can browse the MAtricon IP21 OPC server tags that I configured , so the browsing seems to work via this OPC server
    d. Then I tried to fire up the OPC DA agent in PCo that I previously configured to look at the Aspentech IP21 OPC server, and the configuration now started to work (still can't browse the tags)
    e. I uninstalled the Matricon IP21 OPC server and the configuration in step d. still worked.
So the conclusion is that the Matricon IP21 OPC server did some sort of a configuration that made the orginal configuration functional, this however now leaves me the question of what did this driver do to get things working.
Now I sit with a new challenge I have PCo installed on a seperate server and in a different domain as the IP21 OPC server.
    What I have so far
    1. The Same local user on both the PCo box and the IP21 OPC server with Admin rights
    2. I can see the IP21 OPC server from the PCo box and access it
But the issue is as soon as I fire up the Agent to run  it fails to start with the following error:

  • XMII and System Architecture

In the best practices documents and other xMII related literature that I have read, the proper architecture of integration for xMII into a corporate enterprise landscape is based upon local/plant xMII servers that are connected to a corporate xMII server.
This literature does not delve into the details as to why this approach is  significantly better compared to, for example, a single enterprise xMII server that retrieves data from local/plant databases that have taken care of the collection of the relevant shop floor data.
I would appreciate any feedback that can explain the best practices rationale further or provide any novel approaches to xMII's architecture of integration.

The reason why SAP suggests the kind of architecture that the Best Practices Guide talks about is -
    1. xMII talks about Intelligence - Real Time Dashboards for the Plant Users (Operators/Supervisors). This is a very common scenario where xMII adds value . Here it makes sense to have a xMII server @ the plant layer to make a very real time view possible for the user. So its mainly a bandwidth issue.
    2. Another very good point the guide talks about is incase of absence of the Corporate network the plants can go on with there business as usual with xMII acting as a buffer. As soon as the corporate network's up the buffer can then be sent accross to the corporate (read SAP ERP). There have been many instances where customers have come up with these kind of requirements , This kind of a scenario becomes very relevant when one is upgrading their ERP.
The Best Practices have evolved based upon the kind of requirements xMII has seen over the years and hence it reflects what is best from an architecture perspective.
    Hope this helps.

  • XMII and Barcoding Equipment

I am an xMII novice and we have started to architect a manufacturing solution that will utilize xMII's capabilities integrated with a back end SAP R/3 (v. 4.6C) instance.  I have a few questions that I would like to pose to the group to assist us on our way.
    1.  I would think that xMII should have no issues receiving information from barcode scanning devices (e.g. for shop floor confirmations), but have not heard of anyone using such devices directly interfaced with xMII.  Could someone confirm (hopefully from experience)?  Are there specific vendors who's devices are more readily interfaced with xMII than others?
    2.  Provided that it is feasible to interface barcode scanning devices directly with xMII, what is the better mechanism for shop floor confirmation:
    Scanner --> xMII --> R/3?
    Scanner --> R/3 --> xMII?
    Other?
I would think that either mechanism is sound, however I wanted to solicit some opinions to find out if there is a better way.
    3.  Has anyone interfaced xMII with barcode printing devices, so that activities within xMII could generate barcoded labels?  Or is this process better facilitated out of R/3?  For example, production confirmation generating a barcoded label for the produced goods.
    Thanks.
    Dave

Hi David - Great set of questions.
xMII and Barcoding work well together, probably to some extent because there isn't a direct connection between them.  xMII runs in a web browser.  The scanning device is typically responsible for scanning the barcode and transforming the image into text.  It is also, usually, responsible for sending that text back to the computer it is connected to.  The computer then simply takes the passed text and inserts it wherever the cursor is.  So the if xMII is the active window and the cursor is in a position where you want the translated barcode to show up, it will.  If it doesn't the problem is either with the device or the computer.  On some models of scanners, you can even program it to simulate a keystroke before or after each scan.  So, for instance if you have a web page with one text field for the barcode and a submit button, you can have the scanner enter the text in the field AND hit the submit button in one scan.
For your #2 question, both scenarios would work.  If you are using a barcode device with a GUI on it like Windows CE or palm, you'll probably be interfacing between the barcode and R/3 with xMII so in that instance, send the barcode to an xMII page that does something in R/3.
Printing is a little tricky.  Because xMII lives in a web browser on the client, you'll have to rely on the browser's printing capabilities.  However, this is another method to printing barcodes.  There are barcode printing packages available; I'm mostly familiar with Seagull's BarTender software.  What you can do with this is use xMII to send a flat file containing the barcode label information (material, qty, etc) along with a printer name and user, etc to a windows directory that BarTender is "listening" to.  Once BarTender sees the file, it will parse it and print the label with the information in the file to the printer in the file.  It works really well.

4)Where UDS stands and when it shiuld be used?
    5) What are the different components of XMII and one line description of it.( eg. XI has IR,ID,RWB,SLD etc)
    6) Is it contain any database and what type of data it stores?
    Regards,
    Piyush

    Hi Piyush,
Please find answers in bold ...
    1) plant-->xMII--
    >non sap Application( If it can be conected, what are the technology we can can use? jdbc, web services etc. Please provide the complete list) - You can connect databases to xMII - Use menu path Data Services -> Data Servers and configure accordingly
    2) xMII can connect to shop floor systems through MES using B2MML schema. But wat is the technology interaction point? Is it FTP,JDBC,WEB SERVICES,XMl or ???? - The interaction point is the database. Suppose if you are having 10 MES systems, they should be connected to a common database server and then xMII can be connected to that server
3)xMMI can connect to SAP through JCO connections.Does it supports Web SErvices with SAP erp?-
*It depends on which version of SAP you are in. If you are having EP, then web services are possible.
If you are having only SAP R/3 it can be called via RFC connection type G*
4)Where UDS stands and when it shiuld be used? - UDS is Universal Data Server, this helps xMII to connect and transmit data from different data sources like OLE,OPC,SCADAs,Historians etc
    5) What are the different components of XMII and one line description of it.( eg. XI has IR,ID,RWB,SLD etc)
Refer to SAP Help on xMII - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_xmii115/helpdata/en/SAP_xMII_Help.htm
    6) Is it contain any database and what type of data it stores?
xMII does not have a database on its own, it uses the historian/central database

  • Parrallel Processing in xMII

    Hello All.
I am designing a large scale Real Time Reporting solution using regional xMII servers to source data that is then fed into NetWeaver BI Virtual InfoProviders for reporting.
My current problem is that I can't figure out how to make xMII do two tasks in parallel. Let me explain why I want to do this.
Suppose I need data for a report from multiple source applications that are connected to a regional xMII server. I can have Net Weaver BI make a call to the xMII server for the data, and then xMII needs to collect the data from each of the sources. At the moment, xMII makes a request to the first source, waits for the response, then makes a request to the next source and waits for the response, and then the next...etc
Ideally, I need to have xMII initiate each of the requests from the source systems and run the queries in parallel. When the last query has finished, then post the entire result set back to Netweaver BI.
How do I spawn Multiple queries in parallel in xMII?
    Geoff.

    Hi, Geoffrey.
I suspect that there is significant potential performance that can be gained from "intermediate content caching".  There is probably some overlap between subsequent user requests that could share a previous resultset.
xMII's business logic service engine was designed such that multiple actions within a sequence could run in parallel (I designed it. ) , but this capability was not enabled for a number of reasons related to scaleability when the product ran on IIS (version 11.5 and older).
I would suggest pushing this is an enhancement request - the infrastructure to do this would not be too substantial and would be useful if used carefully.
Alternatively, it would be rather easy to write a standalone app/servlet that invoked xMII transactions in parallel (via calls the the Runner servlet) to make  the data requests (and persist the results to disk temporarily), then invoked the aggregrator/calculation transaction.  Not a perfect solution, but would work.
    Best regards,
    Rick

What version of Oracle are you using depending on the version there maybe a different driver to use refer to note  943507.
Are you able to ping that machine IP or machine Name fully qualified?
    Is 1525 the correct port?

  • SAP PCo, OLEDB Source Error

    Hi gurus,
I'm trying to start a PCo agent using a OLEDB connection and I'm getting the following error. All the "Connection Check" buttons (At ODBC DSN and at PCo)  says the connection is OK.
At PCo, I have created the OLEDB source and selected the default provider, there is no .Net Framework Data Provider for ODBC on the list.
Any suggestion? I didn't even find where to download this .Net Framework Data Provider for ODBC.
26/5/2011 14:24:04,.,1,2244,Teste,Error,Host,failed to create ConnectivityAgentProxy,"General PCo Fault: The .Net Framework Data Provider for OLEDB (System.Data.OleDb) does not support the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (MSDASQL). Use the .Net Framework Data Provider for ODBC (System.Data.Odbc).

    Diana,
When trying to connect UDS to IP21 using the "xMII OLE DB UDS" server type in UDS, I'm getting the following error:

Do you have any clue of what is wrong?
Until now I do not have a historical connection with IP21 since PCo and UDS return errors.
    Thank you in advance
