  • Multi-Client TCP Server /w Swing GUI

    Hi everybody,
i have to develop a Multi-Client TCP Server with a Swing GUI. The GUI mainly consists of a JTable which shows various trace messages from processes running on other computers. As the data needs to be filtered im using a custom TableModel derived from AbstractTableModel. Im creating a new thread for every client that connects as shown in http://java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/Programming/BasicJava2/socket.html
Now every client thread reads data from its TCP connection and puts it into the JTable by calling the method addRow of the model. But im getting strange NullPointerExceptions and IndexOutOfBoundExceptions when data arrives (im using ArrayList in the model). These exceptions never show in a single-threaded Swing app (ive tested this already, so i dont think its a bug in my model), so i think this is a problem with Swings thread unsafety? Do you have any hints on how to get away with it? Also general design tips for a Multi-Client TCP Server /w Swing GUI are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Disposable_Hero

Of course, but i dont think it is the model (as said before it works fine in a single thread swing app)

  • I need helping!!! configuring RDP access to my local server from a remote location on my Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall.

I need helping configuring RDP access to my local server from a remote location on my Cisco ASA 5505 Firewall.
I have attempted to configure rdp access but it does not seem to be working for me Could I please ask someone to help me modify my current configuration to allow this? Please do step by step as I could use all the help I could get.
I need to allow the following IP addresses to have RDP access to my server:
    66.237.238.193-66.237.238.222
    69.195.249.177-69.195.249.190
    69.65.80.240-69.65.80.249
My external WAN server info is - 99.89.69.333
The internal IP address of my server is - 192.168.6.2
The other server shows up as 99.89.69.334 but is working fine.
I already added one server for Static route and RDP but when I try to put in same commands it doesnt allow me to for this new one. Please take a look at my configuration file and give me the commands i need in order to put this through. Also please tell me if there are any bad/conflicting entries.
THE FOLLOWING IS MY CONFIGURATION FILE
Also I have modified IP information so that its not the ACTUAL ip info for my server/network etc... lol for security reasons of course
Also the bolded lines are the modifications I made but that arent working.

Unclear what did not work.  In your original post you include said some commands were added but don't work:
    static (inside,outside) tcp interface 3389 192.168.6.2 3389 netmask 255.255.255.255
and later you state you add another command that gets an error:
    static (inside,outside) tcp 99.89.69.333 3389 192.168.6.2 3389 netmask 255.255.255.255
You also stated that 99.89.69.333 (actually 99.89.69.233, guessing from the rest of your config and other posts) is your WAN IP address.
The first static statement matches Cisco's documentation, which states that a static statement must use the 'interface' directive when you are trying to do static PAT utilizing the IP address of the interface.  Since 99.89.69.333 is the assigned IP address of your WAN interface, that may explain why the second statement fails.
Any reason why you are using static PAT (including the port number 3389) instead of just skipping that directive?  Static PAT usually makes sense when you need to change the TCP port number.  In your example, you are not changing the TCP port 3389.

But how do I connect to it? I'm trying to make a multiplayer game, and I want variables and strings to be communicated to each client, but what code do I have to put in to get one of the  clients to connect to the other? Again, it successfully LISTENS for a connection, but I don't know how to get anything to connect to it. Another thing is that I get an error thrown at me when I try to test the standalone SWF file, it only listens for connections when I hit "test movie" in the FLA... Thanks in advance...

Well, i don't know how to detect your ps3 on your imac, but i know a way to connect your PS3 to you imac and Macbook, it's called Remote Play, this was created by sony some years ago, read this article for more: http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/7225/playstation-3-use-remote-play-on-any-non-son y-vaio-windows-7-pc-ps3-firmware-3-30/

Solution, give me your number so we can talk about or setup captures on the ASA to confirm that traffic from the Internet is being routed correctly to the ASA and also review logs.
capture out interface outside match ip any host 78.93.232.66
capture in interface inside match ip any host  10.10.10.4
After you try to access the server via the public IP from an Internet client check the captures:
    show capture
If you see packets in the capture, download them:
    https://10.15.1.1/capture/in/pcap
    https://10.15.1.1/capture/out/pcap
It will ask you for your credentials to be able to download the file.
    Check logs via ASDM:
Log into ASDM > Monitoring > logging > Real Time log viewer
Type in the external IP address of the server and run another test, if you see logs post them

  • Login to Oracle 8i Server from a remote location.

    Hi Experts,
I wish to connect to Oracle 8i Server at Site 1 from Site 2.
    Situation
Site 1     -     Oracle 8i on Win 2K. This is behind a firewall FW1. Is in Win NT Domain1.
Site 2     -     Oracle 8i Client on Win 98. This is also behind (a separate) firewall FW2. Is in Win NT Domain2. There is no oracle instance running at Site 2.
    Also -
    a. There is a secure VPN between Site 1 and 2 (through separate Firewalls. one at each site).
    b. Site 1 and Site 2 use different set of IP-Address and also different set of Subnet Mask.
    c. Both, the Client at Site 2 & Oracle 8i Server at Site 1, are able to ping each other successfully.
    d. As there is no oracle database at Site 2, a Database Link cannot be created.
At Site 2, I have tried the following -
    1. Installed Oracle 8i Client.
    Configured the tnsnames.ora file.
    The Port used is 1521.
Tried to connect from SQL*Plus but do not connect.
    2. Installed development version of Oracle Forms 6i (surely after removing Oracle 8i client).
    This also installs SQL*Plus.
    Configured the tnsnames.ora file.
    The Port used is 1521.
Tried to connect from SQL*Plus but do not connect.
Tried to connect from Oracle Forms 6i but login fails.
However, other Win98 clients (of Win NT Domain1) at Site 1 use the same settings of tnsnames.ora file to connect to the Oracle 8i Server.
    3. Changed the IP address (of Win98 client at Site 2) to become a member of Win NT domain1 (same domain as that of Oracle 8i Server).
Repeated the above steps 1 & 2 but login still fails.
What more needs to be done?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Lokesh

    Hi Fredrik,
You r right. But I have its entry in tnsnames.ora file. The entry looks like this -
    My_Service_Name.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Server = Computer_Name_of_Server_having_Ora8i)
    (Host = IP_Add_of_Server_having_Ora8i)
    (Port = 1521)
    (Pipe = ORAPIPE)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = ORCL)
The same entry exists in the tnsnames.ora file on the local PCs (same office where the Oracle 8i Server is present) at Site 1 and these PCs connect the server without any problem.
    Thanks
    Lokesh

  • TCP server stream loses data

    Hi,
I have a high visibility application that has a bug in it that I'd like some
sharp minds of NI discussion forum to make a suggestion about.
The app is on the International Space Station. I have a LV executable on a
laptop on the ISS that sends TCP and UDP data to a LV executable on an earth-bound
    computer.
The path is not a standard or "trivial" IP but it is intended to be equivalent to
a standard IP.  The catch comes when some data bytes are lost en route.
When this happens, the earth-bound LV says something like "Not enough memory
    to complete operation"
    Here's what we found...
    =======================================================
The TCP Server (on the ISS) send a TCP data stream with the following format...
    ...LLLLSTART$d1$d2...$dN#llllSUMccccENDLLLLSTART...
    where
        * LLLL is a 32bit binary integer with the number of bytes in the following packet beginning with the text string START and ending with the text string END.
        * $, #, START, SUM, and END are delimiters.
        * d1, d2, ... dN are text string data values.
        * llll is a text string with the decimal number of bytes beginning with the text string START and ending with # symbol.
        * cccc is a text string with the decimal number checksum of the bytes beginning with the text string START and ending with # symbol.
The TCP Client (on earth) reads 4 bytes as LLLL, then reads LLLL bytes (usually about 85 bytes) as the packet beginning with the text string START and ending with the text string END.
The error comes when the LLLL data is lost, so the TCP Client reads four bytes (probably S,T,A,and R) as LLLL, which convert to a number that is very large, then reads LLLL bytes (maybe 50M) but this read fails because there is not enough memory to read that much data.
The fix entails ensuring that LLLL is a reasonable size (like 20 to 200) and ensuring that the data packet begins with START.  The difficulty is how to restructure the code to reset the packet loop when LLLL is out of bounds or when that START header is not present.
    =================================
My quandary is that in LV, I can't see what's going on in the TCP Server or
    TCP Client vis.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I would look at configuring the Nagle Algorithm and/or Delayed ACK options on your remote and earth-bound stations.
Do LabVIEW TCP Functions Use the Nagle Algorithm?
TCP Performance problems caused by interaction between Nagle's Algorithm and Delayed ACK
    From wikipedia:
Applications such as networked multiplayer video games expect that actions in the game are sent immediately, while the algorithm purposefully delays transmission, increasing bandwidth at the expense of latency. For this reason applications with low-bandwidth time-sensitive transmissions typically use TCP_NODELAY  to bypass the Nagle delay.
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

  • Can access a remote server from all locations except from my house

This is a very weird problem.
My home ISP is Xplornet. This is a rural "fixed wireless" set-up (antenna on the roof connected to the Xplornet modem). The Xplornet modem is connected to a Belkin router. The router connects wirelessly to my laptop.
The remote server (the office server) is connected to an Apple airport. The ISP is Bell, and we have a static IP.
Before we moved, I was with Rogers (cable Internet service). While with Rogers, I could connect remotely to my office server using the AFP protocol.
Now, here's the weird problem: Now that I am with Xplornet, I can connect to my server remotely from any location EXCEPT my house. I can go to a Starbucks and connect to my server. I can go on vacation in the U.S. and use the local WiFi to connect to my server. But I CANNOT connect from my house to the remote server.
I have spoken to Xplornet and they say it's an Apple problem (which is what every non-Apple tech always seems to say). Or, perhaps, they say, it's the local dealer (Sentel Communications).
Sentel says I need to pay for a static IP for my home (Huh?). Why would I need to pay for a static IP at home just so I can connect OUT to a remote server?
Is this somehow related to the Belkin router not letting me "out"?
Any thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for responding, Bob.
Below is the result of my Ping attempt, and port scans. I scanned 548, and 5003, which I use for FileMaker (which works fine from home), I don't use screen sharing. (I can confirm that both 548 and 5003 are open on Airport on the host machine.)
So, from my home (remote) location, here's what I get (IP: 74.xx.xxx.xx):
    --- 74.xx.xxx.xx ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 packets received, 0% packet loss
    round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 57.126/91.371/185.774/45.549 ms
    Scan of port 5003
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 74.xx.xxx.xx
               Open TCP Port:           5003                    fmpro-internal
    Port Scan has completed ...
    Scan of port 548
    Port Scan has started ...
    Port Scanning host: 74.xx.xxx.xx
    Port Scan has completed ...
So, 5003 is OK, 548 is not. I have to conclude this is related to my home ISP in some way?
Unfortunately, the host server is running 10.3 (don't ask), which is not supported by Logmein. (I do use Logmein for a Windows machine on the same network, and I can connect to one area of the server via the PC, but not to the part I need, which might be the subject of a future thread.)
Regardless, being able to connect to my work server remotely from every location EXCEPT from my home is infuriating.
I just saw this thread about an ISP that has blocked port 548, although I always assumed the ports had to be open on the host side, but maybe not? (I have to confess, I do find the port stuff confusing.)
If my home ISP blocks 548, then I guess that would prevent me from remotely accessing the server from home?
If that is the case, is port 548 the only AFP option?

  • No tcp connection in of tcp server

I am trying to make labview program to replace a java program on a pc(192.168.1.88).
The first step is the program will start a tcp server, then a client(192.168.1.44) will connect in. The java program works fine, but my program all the time waiting and no connection in.
I tried wireshark. When java program receive the connection, it only give 4 lines, my program got many lines and no connection as attached.
    Any suggestion, thank.

Showing some relevant section of the Java program source would probably help. Or from the client program. There might be a number of things. As to the wireshark log, all those entries in there are from many things, which could be in some ways related to LabVIEW but none but one line are related to your actual problem. And looking at your example you posted later, you should not let the listen socket get closed right away. Think dataflow!Another recommendation since you are not using the address information anyhow, set the resolve remote address to false. It could add a huge delay accepting the incoming connection request, since it will cause a name resolution request on your network which will possibly timeout because of no DNS server being available, and even if you have a DNS server it is not clear if it will contain a name record for that device.

  • Can we stop shared server from client m/c

    Yes. No.
Yes, you can stop shared server. Simply decrease the shared server pool to zero. (see below for details)
No, you cannot stop a dedicated server as "The Thing" that creates dedicated server connections is the Listener. So you will need to stop that.

  • Can't access weblogic server from internet but can from intranet

Hopefully this isn't the wrong place to post but I've searched through many many
newsgroups to figure out where to post this but can't find a specific enough one.
I've recently run into a problem with my weblogic server in that it can not be
accessed from the internet now. This was all working several weeks ago, when
I had the wl server listening for SSL communications on port 7002. I could access
the server from both within our corporate intranet (kind of) as well as access
it from the internet. I say kind of for the intranet in that when I chose to
setup SSL on the the wl server, I couldn't get port 7002 to communicate through
our proxy server. After a little research I determined that it would be best
to communicate on the default SSL port of 443. After switching to 443, I didn't
need to bypass the proxy any longer, when accessing from within intranet, but
now couldn't access the server from the internet. The wl server is behind a firewall,
but I had the network administrators open up port 443 on the firewall. They ran
a network sniffer and determined that the wl server is sending a TCP FIN packet
immediately following the last ACK packet in a TCP session establishment. I don't
really understand what that all means, but it seems really strange that everything
works great when inside the intranet and I don't get any TCP FIN packets sent
from the server, but when you try to communcate through the firewall you do.
Does anyone have any insight into this issue? something else I could look at.
The network administrators are basically saying it's the webserver that needs
configuration (even though it worked great in the past when listening on port
7002 instead of 443). PLEASE HELP!!!

    Got it.  This thread helped!
    Thanks!

  • Connecting to network SQL Server from SQL Developer

    Hi All,
I am trying to connect to network SQL Server from SQLDeveloper but I am unable to connect( I am getting could not connect to SQL Server...). I have searched many sites but could not find the solution. I am giving HostName as MachineName\InstanceName and keeping the port as 1433.
Can anyone explain how that connection string should be given.
    Thanks.

    From help with additional comments
Host Name: Host system for the Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server database.
E.g., sybase.myCompany.org (DNS name or IP address)
Port: TCP/IP Port on which Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server will listen.
As mentioned by others, need to know how server is configured. Common values: 1433, 5000
Retrieve Database: Name of the Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server database.
Once the other data is correct, press this to populate list box and select which database you want associated with this connection. E.g., pixar, pubs2, etc.

  • Modbus TCP server/slave implementation

Does anybody have experience to implement a modbus server or slave application? My computer needs to communicate with a PLC. The configuration is: computer is TCP server or slave, PLC is TCP client or master. Computer to write input registers for PLC to read. Computer read holding registers from PLC. Cannot find any labwindows examples.
    Thanks a lot.

Thank you all for the replies. Most the links are for modbus tcp client (master) instead of modbus server (slave).
Now I am trying to use a modbus slave activeX control (trial version) from Automated Solutions Inc: http://www.automatedsolutions.com/products/modbusslave.asp.
I created an instrument driver using Create ActiveX Controller wizard. I can get a correct object (modbusHandle) with the first line below (status = 0). But the second function (set a property) gives negative status return (status = -2147418113).
    status = ASMBSLVLib_New_DASMBSLV (NULL, 1, LOCALE_NEUTRAL, 0, &modbusHandle);
    status = ASMBSLVLib__DASMBSLVSetDataMode (modbusHandle, NULL, ASMBSLVLibConst_DATA_MODE_MB_TCP);
Did I create the activeX control correctly? Automated Solutions told me that the ActiveX control is a windowless control. It's a runtime control. Is it a problem?
    Thanks in advance.
