Constant label location bug?

As I was answering the question posted in this thread, I stumbled upon this little "feature" (tested in LV 2011).
The Options panel allows you to specify the location of diagram object labels:
By default, it is set to the first value, which is "Top-Left":
However, for constants created from a control, it looks like this:
If you try to change that option, say to "Top-Middle", and create a constant, it will still give you the result shown above. For any other object (Loop, Function, etc) it seems that the location preference is used properly:
Even if you create a constant from a control whose label is at the "Top-Middle", a constant created from it will look as above. No biggie, but that appears to be an undocumented feature.
Note that if you create a very small For Loop and show its label (when the default location is "Top-Middle"):
and resize the loop, the label will stick to the Top-Left corner:
no matter whether or not you check the "Labels locked by default". Puzzling to me...
I am sure there are other oddities. Won't prevent me from sleeping though.

Ios 5 location bug ?

when you drop a pin it just gives you the general area no roads or anything,
i am wondering if this is a problem with google maps or with iOS5 or both
any ideas ?

I have noticed the exact same issue. Since updating to iOS5 the maps app seems to not list the pin point position thus making the location based reminders very difficult to use.
I tested this with an iOS5 and an iOS4 device today and the iOS4 mapping gives street names and not just Johannesburg GP like on iOS5? See attached pictures with devices mapping at the same location?
I went into the Apple store in Sandton City on Thursday but the guy I spoke to simply said that it is a new operating system, and he would try and look into it? My problem is that if this is just a South African mapping iOS5 issue how long will it take to get resolved without being brought to the attention of the right people?

How do I turn off the auto-constant labels in LV 7.1 block diagrams?

Whenever I create a new constant from the input to a sub-VI, LV automatically displays the label.
This "feature" is making a mess of my diagrams and adding a lot of time to editting.
Since LV automatically locates the constant to allow clearance for the label, the constants end up all over the place.
Can anyone tell me how to turn this feature off?
I'm sure it must be right under my nose, but I cannot see it.
The subject is in the User Manual Index, but not linked to any information.

Preview Files Location Bug?

Since I upgraded to CC2014 my preview files location constantly keep trying to move to my online Creative Cloud location.
Obviously this quickly uses up my Creative Cloud storage and no matter how many times I keep putting the location back to where I want it, it keeps changing back again.
Is this a known bug??

i got the terminal commands to work. sometimes those tech articles can be very tricky to read and unless something is extremely clear to me I am hesitant to get into terminal and start messing around. that said, the 0 settings seem to fix most of this. THANKS.
one thing that does appear buggy is that the actual percentage entries (you can see this in the images I posted) /don't/ change the preview size or the resulting print size for either of the default settings.
i mean, i can't control the percentage size of the print when it defaults to Scale to Fit or when it default to actual size and this seems like it is a bug at least on my system.

Image and label location in JButton

I have a class MyButton that extends JButton. I'm trying to override the contains(int x, int y) method of MyButton in such a way so as to return true if and only if the point x,y is contained within either the button's image or the button's label. So I think I need to know the location of these components..... any idea how to find this information?

Label truncation - Bug?

I am using a label and my label text can have "-" in it (e.g. "TX-dallas_bigbig_whater" or "big-34333_hose_345" ) and so when the label truncates long names it will truncate the above two examples like this:
"TX-dallas_bigbig_whater" gets truncated to "TX-..."   but should be   "TX-dallas_bigb..."
"big-34333_hose_345"         gets truncated to "big-..."   but should be   "big-34333_hos..."
Is this a bug or ?

If I used 4.0.0.10485 (Beta 2 build) my s:Label text truncated to "TX-...".
After switching to 4.0.0.14288 my s:Label text truncated to "TX-dallas_bigbi...".

Metadata: IPTC Location bug

Have clean LR install (no previous beta's) and fresh created database with 1159 images (mixed CR2 and jpg) on PC (AMD 3000+, 1Gig RAM) -and I do know how to maintain WinXP.
I've selected one image and tagged all four IPTC location fields:
Country= Slovenia
State= Doma
City= Doma
Location= Doma
After a while (damn, why this takes so long), fields on the left pane (Metadata Browser) were updated. Then I deleted Location tag and leaved Country, State and City untouched. After a while (again), left pane's content updated and... (I hope you'll understand what I'm trying to say)...
I still see country (Slovenia) there, but it contains zero entries! So I have in total 1159 Location entries, Slovenia zero entries and 1158 Unknown Country -weird. I can click on Slovenia (which is greyed out), but no image gets shown in thumbnail preview. If I look after this particular image manually, I can still see that image's Country is Slovenia (and I can also find image using Find: IPTC=Slovenia). Also I don't see State and City entries (which are "Doma") anymore in left pane.
Yes, I've closed and reopened LR, but things remain the same. There's no way I can force LR to refresh it's database.
Before continuing I need to say, that I AM database approach fan. Here and there I can read LR's database (workflow, speed,..) isn't so bad after all.. and that some are too picky, complaining all the time.... Let me tell, that LR's database approach is one of the worst I've seen so far:
Reflections (updating on the left pane) to every correction made by user takes way too long. Actually I wouldn't care about that (being done in background), but if you type fast enough (on the right pane) and edit your mistakes here and there, then you simply cannot know how far have you come -it takes too long before left pane is up to date.
Why can't I simply select couple of images and drag them into desired Location field (simila as with Keywords)? It's a basic task. Why there's no simply way to see untaged (Not Keyworded, Not Localized, Not edited) files? Yes, I can do something of that with Color/Star/Flag labeling, but why increasing workflow?
I suppose Collections is something like "Albums" in other DAM's. If I click on some thumbnail, how can I know in which collection image is (if in any)?
Why I cannot select (in Collections, Keywords,...) only images which are in selected parent tree (subtree content excluded)?
In short: user shouldn't notice there's database working behind -in this case, I'm quite sure, everybody will like "database paradigm".

I think I'm getting to understand IPTC Location issue here (if somebody interested)...
On the left panel (Metadata Browser), tag Location (once filled with some string) has the the lowest (deepest) position in the tree:
Country->State->City->"Location"
If Location is blank, entry resides outside this tree (=Unknown Location inside Location). So, Location tag (not Location section in Metadata Browser) seems to be something like root location tag: if it is empty, other location tags (Country, City,...) aren't managed. Now I'm curious... why does "Unknown Location" reside outside "Unknown Country" -I suppose it should be inside "Unknown City". If there is a reason for being outside, then this tag (Location) shouldn't influence other Location (Country, City...) behaviour.

Preferences Label Colors bug? (Mac CS5.5)

The fields in this pref are editable. I can change the words, "Blue, Cyan, Green" etc. in the Pref Pane. But, I'm still stuck with the default names when I right-click a clip in the timeline and choose "Label."
The only place where I see those field name changes reflected is in the Preferences > Label Defaults Pane.
This is a bug, right?
What if I wanted to change those color names to be Good, Bad, MOS, GFX, etc.? That would be much more useful than the default color names, because I like to color code my clips in the Timeline. It makes effects editing (and clip classification) much simpler.
Or, am I doing something wrong?

I don't even see how it's useful to color code items in the Project Tab. They already have their unique icons. What more do you need?
Actually, there is one very useful feature, IMO: the ability to select clips in a bin or in a sequence based on their label color. Right-click a clip, go to to Labels, and select Select Label Group; all footage items with that label will be selected. This can be really helpful for cleaning up a project, or mass replacing stuff in a sequence. One of my requests was that we have many more (12-20) labels that we can define ourselves, so that their is a finer degree of granularity with how you label footage items. Right now, labels are (automatically) based on the footage item type, or (manually) if you assign a label. Being able to create labels like you suggest, e.g. Good, Bad, MOS, etc., would be much more user-friendly in that regard.
On that subject, I'd love to see the Project fields "hide-able" like they are in AE. I never saw the use for Labels there (or in AE for that matter). I need to make another Feature Request.
They are. Click the flyout menu in the Project panel (kind of like Avid's hamburger menu) and go to Metadata Display. You can check and uncheck the fields you want to see there. You can also rearrange columns/field names in the Project panel by dragging them around.

Copy SMPTE location bug in 24 and 23.976 Frame Modes

This one is driving me crazy - often I used to just double click the SMPTE in the transport to copy and paste into a marker when re-timing a section of a film score - now if you double click in a 24 frame based project the numbers displayed are incorrect - way off! Anybody else see this? Just want to conf. and I will send to Apple for a fix hopefully soon. This bug has been present since 9.0

Thanks, this is such bad timing! I am trying to get this edit wrapped up for a screening during the Cannes Film Festival and waiting until some unknown date in May-ish for 5.5 is not even an option. I am pulling my hair out... I can't even create EDLs, XMLs or AAFs because the timecode is wrong. I am stuck in premiere or forced to adjust the edits on 2.5hrs of footage on a 24fps timeline so I can export something. Of course my edits will be off here and there, but at least the timecode will be correct.
The timecode error is the single most crippling bug that I have run into in my 10 years of using adobe software.

Missing Files and Locating Bug

Hi,
In LR2, if I relocated a folder of files/photos, for example move them from a primary hard drive (on my macbook) to an external hard drive, the catalogue would indicate missing files with a '?' icon in the top right hand corner of the file.
To re-locate these files was simple, right click on the missing file and for OSX simply click 'show in finder' and find the missing file in it's new location.
Then all missing files from that particular folder would all be systematically found.
In LR3 the above process has no effect. If I try to relocate a missing file nothing happens.
Any ideas?

A little spookie, just before I noticed your post I tried the 'Find Missing Folder' option in the folder tab in the library module and that worked fine.
Clicking the '?' icon or right clicking and selecting 'Show in Finder' still has no effect though. In LR2 this never failed.

Core Location - Bugs in the Beta?

Hi,
Has anyone had any success compiling code that uses the Core Location framework?
I've been working with it a bit and it seems like there is an error in the framework as it will not compile at all. No errors are picked up in my code.

Is that on the phone or on the simulator? Don't have access to iPhone OS 2.0 in the UK yet so its just simulator-based stuff.
My code, as per the example, compiles. It is the framework that crashes in the debugger.

Reader XI: When is the privileged locations bug going to be fixed?

At the moment, I'm unable to deploy Reader XI, because users don't accept that our corporate file shares are untrusted. I can go into Edit > Preferences > Security (Enhanced) and add hosts and file paths to the Privileged Locations, but it only even remembers the last one I enter.
I see that this is a known issue, but I'd like to know when this is going to be fixed.

Try adding the hosts in Privileged Locations via "Add Host". It will then treat them as trusted hosts.
Just for double check, this is the problem you are referring to:
Problem: Unable to Add/Remove websites in Trusted Sites, Restricted Sites category in Internet Options dialog from Acrobat's preferences. You cannot remove existing trusted sites or add a website to the existing list.
Workaround: Change the Internet Options from the Settings dialog box in Internet Explorer 9. (Tools > Internet Options) [3171074]

Safari constant "current location" request

So for about a week of two now, every action in safari (google set as search engine) results in a popup window saying "google would like yo use your current location". What changed? Never did this before. I have google map app (rarely used) but this has nothing to do with it. It's driving me nuts.

Turned off location services got safari and the solved it. But, I've never had the issue previously and don't recall specifically turning it on. It prolly got turned on inadvertently through some web action on my part. Had the update for a longer than this issue do if wasn't that. Thanks all.

UPC Label Location Mac Pro

Hello,
I recently purchased a Mac Pro, and need the UPC label for a mail-in promotion. None of the labels on the box look like a UPC. Does anyone know where it is, or which part qualifies? There is a sticker with the Part No, Serial No, etc. but at the top it just has "IML/CID" and then a code which is definitely not a standard UPC. A UPC should be all numbers with a number offset on either side, but I can find no such code on the box. If anyone could help me, it would be much appreciated, as I would like to get this in the mail.

How do you specify printer start location on a label sheet in Address Book (LION)?

I have no problem with printing address labels to my correspondents in Address Book, but cannot find the spot to tell the program to start with a specific label location on the label sheet. It is a complete waste to print one address in the upper left of the label sheet and not to be able to tell the printer to start with row 2 col 1 the next time.

I've found no way to do this from address book. Printing labels from address book is just simple list style printing ** fill the sheet with names and print. I see no way to insert blank information like I use to do in Clairworks in order to skip rows and columns. If you need to repeat names or print only certain columns and rows, then you would need to do that from another program. I have no recomendations since I haven't used any, but I'm sure there are many out there and probably a lot that are free to download.
What I do is print out full sheets of mailing labels on the ones I used repeatedly, such as my return address, electric bill, water bill, etc. I used appleworks in the past, but now it no longer works under Lion, so I will have to make new sheets, probably from Word.
For all others addresses that are not used frequently, I've resorted to just running my envelopes throught the printer.
