Consuming and exposing services in IdM?

Hello there, I have several requirements in my IdM project that cannot be satisfied by the standard SAP provisioning framework and I was wondering if it would be possible to instead expose some functionality in the target system as services and consume these services inside javascripts? An example is the handling of structural authorizations which in our company is a little more complex than elsewhere. I should be able to represent structural profiles as privileges in IdM, but with the standard SAP provisioning framework I am not able to provision the profiles. A similar challenge exists with analysis authorizations in BI. I should be able to represent these authorizations as privileges, but I need a way to provision assigned analysis authorizations.
My idea is to conceal the functionality I need in the back end system in a web service which I would then like to be able to consume in a javascript in a script run in IdM. Is this possible?
Similarly for some automated assignements of data access profiles, I would like to be able to determine inside a javascript what part of the organization a user belongs to. Our current setup is that we push data from HCM into a staging area inside the Identity Center through the use of the VDS. The employee data that is received from HCM is used when determinining which users should be setup in the target systems. Would I need to enrich the extract of data from HCM to include the organizational model and represent it in the HCM staging area or would it be a better approach to expose services in HCM that could be consumed from inside IdM?
Exposing services in IdM is another topic. I seem to have read somewhere that it is possible to expose stored procedures in the underlying database (SQLserver) as web services, but do I have similar functionality for tasks and jobs in IdM?
Best regards,
Anders

Best practice seems to be to configure the Identity Services as a document here on SDN describes. ./Anders

  • JAVA Stack for consuming and providing Services with ABAP?

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know if I need to have a Java Stack when I want to build a Web Application with Web Dynpro Abap and consume Enterprise Services from the Enterprise Service Repository. Additional own created services in ABAP should be provided. Is a Java stack necessary for that? Or is an ABAP Stack enough?
Thanks a lot for your answers?
    Best regards,
    Ingmar

    Hi Ingmar,
You do not need a Java stack to build or run Web Dynpro ABAP application. Web Dynpro ABAP runs on ABAP stack.
Just to consume a web or enterprise service from Web Dynpro ABAP application, or any ABAP application for that matter, you do not need Java stack, either. NetWeaver Application Server contains a component called ICM (Internet Communication Manager) that enables the AS to play both as a service provider as well as a consumer.
The part about consuming Enterprise Services from the ES Repository is more complicated, though.
ES Repository is only a modeling tool. Services are actually implemented  in the respective backend systems and then registered in central Services Registry. So, if the Enterprise Service you want to consume comes from an application that runs on Java stack, although I do not have any example of that handy, then obviously - Java stack is needed. This is irrelevant, however, if your question only pertains to the consumer part.
    I hope this helps.

  • CE -possible to combine different multiple enterprise services? and expose

can some one please let me know if there is any possibility to combine multple services into one and expose as a new  service in CE 7.1/7.2?

    You have multiple options:
    1. Create a WSDL which has input similar to input of WS1 (only Region as input) and an output similar to output of WS3.
Create Proxy Service based on this WSDL. Then call all the thee business services one after the other and doing transformations/assigns as needed after each call. Finally map the result of BS3 to the similar output of your new WSDL on which the Proxy service is based.
    2. Create an Any XML type of web service. Create a schema which has two elements, one for input and one for output. Input containing only Region and output containing all the details. All consumers need to send request according to input defined in schema and expect output defined in schema. Its similar to creating the WSDL but can be used in case your consumer do not want to call a Web Service but want to call an XML API over HTTP. Rest will be same as option 1.
Split join is needed to make calls in parallel, it wont be usable in your use case unless you expect a list og regions in the same request for each of which you need to gather same information by calling three services.

  • How to install and consume GroupWise Web Service (SOAP)

Hello! I'm Razvan, programmer from Romnia, and I am new to GroupWise development.
I am asking if anyone could help me with a C# Visual Studio 2010 example of how to install and consume GroupWise Web Service (SOAP).
The documentation from novell site didn't help me, i didn't understant much of it.
All I need is either a link to a documented GroupWise C# developer step-by-step tutorial, or some code examples.
Can you please show me some code examples in C# with:
1)loging in using a username and a password,
    2)retrieving contact list,
    3)retrieving appointment list,
    4)sending a mail,
    5)setting an appointment
I don't know how to use "groupwise.wsdl" and customise it so that it points to our GroupWise server.
Please, I really need this because I am working at a project right now which involves GroupWise integration.
I hope I haven't disturbed anyone with my simple question.
I know this might be a very simple question given the complexity of the other posts here, but that's why I really hope I will get an answer soon.
    Thank you very much!

The value for the version element should be "1.02"
    not "1.2".

  • Any existing BAPI that can be wrapped and exposed as a web service ???

    Hi ,
I am designing PI Collaboration Platform and that all about Monitoring across SAP ECC, SAP PI and Non-SAP applications.
BUSINESS CASE: Some clients are  looking for a solution that allows there management some visibility into the end-to-end aspect of processes, we will limit our discussion to SAP ECC and PI.
SOLUTION: BAM ultimately helps solve this problem at an enterprise level - however that is a heavy investment for most organizations - is there an alternative that we can provide ? Example a generic web service that can be invoked from a 3rd party tool to provide reports.
    We do have solution :
We can configure Proxy adapter and can write Java web service to invoke a method to extract the data from ECC and one or more report generating methods based on the standard ( like PDF,EXCEL etc)
but we are still looking  for an existing BAPI that can be wrapped and exposed as a web service ????
Need solution for the above ?

    Hi Sanjay,
Yes  BAM  has a bigger take, if you are looking for PI monitoring reports  then please have a look at the following blogs which might
give you some insight.this basically deal with reading data from SXMB_MONI tables.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/909760cb-0ec8-2a10-4a96-ee8417acfbc9
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Snippets/PIMonitoringFunctionality-FetchingDatafromSXMB_MONIStandardTables-PartI
i dont think there is any BAPI as such atleast wrt to PI.

  • ABAP code and konfiguration for consuming secure web services

I need some help/links on how to create an abap program (on 4.6 or WAS 620, or 640 if not possible in older releases) to consume a web service with authentication using certificates based on WS security  (<a href="http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/wss">http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/wss</a>) or client certificates. The request must include attachment in DIME or base64 format (preferably DIME).
On 4.6 I have used the FM HTTP_POST with the if_ixml interface to consume web services, but I don't know if it can handle https authentication and attachements.

  • Configure, Test, and Consume an Enterprise Service in SAP CRM ABAP 6.0

    Hi all,
Can anyone provide me any document on how to Configure, Test, and Consume an Enterprise Service in SAP CRM ABAP 6.0 (2007) ???

    Hi,
there are tons of documents about consuming and producing web services. This question has been also asked on this forum many times. Check for example section eLearning. There are couple of tutorials related to web services. I would start with SAP documentation. The web services are capability of NetWeaver so it does not matter if you have CRM or ERP system. The tools are same.

    Hi all,
I followed tutorial:http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_14/jdtut_11r2_14.html to consume external web service.
At step 2,substep 4, I experience the following error:

    Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have tried these 2 tutorials before. Both worked well. Publish an web service by myself, then consume it with a client. It works. But for this external wsdl published by USA weather forecast, it doesn't work. Navigate to http://www.webservicex.net/WeatherForecast.asmx?WSDL through firefox, and right response is returned. I wonder why connection timed out occurred and how to deal with it.
Could you please share your experience with me? Thanks.
    Thanks.

  • Consuming EJB Web Service in WD ABAP component

    Hi,
I have a scenario where I have Portal KM access methods exposed as EJB Web Service. This web service is deployed on J2EE engine.
And I have to consume this web service from my WD ABAP component controller.
Any idea how this can be achieved?
    Thanks and regards,
    Amey

This doesn't really have anything to do with Web Dynpro.  Normal ABAP functionality is used for the consumption of a web service.  In ABAP we create a proxy class based off the WSDL of the web service.  This proxy class can then be called from within Web Dynpro like any other ABAP class.  You can read about consuming a web service in the online help:

  • Jms Adapter Consume and produce

    Hai guys,
i don't know anything in soa. i have got a usecase which is to
    1) Read a .csv file
    2) Send it to a bpel (in bpel do nothing to payload). Again i have to send the payload to jms adapter( which i dnt knw how )
    3) From the same jms adapter passing the payload to mediator
    4) Pass the input to another jms( jms2 ). from jms2 pass the payload to another bpel
    5) from bpel to db adapter
    am using
    Oracle jDevloper 11.1.13
    Weblogic server is a 10.3.6
my problem is how to create the same jms in two ways like consuming and producing
    Thanks in advance
Edited by: Beckyard on Sep 26, 2012 9:49 PM

    Hi,
Why do you need 2 JMS queues? Can't you consider following pattern?
    Read .csv --> BPEL --> JMS Q
JMS Q --> Mediator --> BPEL (only if some payload processing required) --> Db Adapter
Assuming the above pattern, you'll have to develop 2 processes (in your pattern 3 processes).
    - One that will enqueue the data in JMS in which the JMS Adapter will be placed in the External references and will be invoked with Produce operation.
    - Another process in which Mediator will consume the message using Consume operation from JMS and pass it to BPEL for inserting into database. In this case, JMS Adapter will be placed in Exposed Service swim-lane.
Let us know how you proceed.

  • A user that consumes a Web service is authorized to use then in BackEnd?

    Hello,
I need to help me please
Can you validate that a user that consumes a Web service is authorized to use this service?.
I mean, I have a backend system, which has an RFC, which we published in PI as Web Services, and a third application consumes it with SOAP Adapter. How I can check that the user is consuming the service is authorized (role / profile) in the backend to run this service?
I searched SAML, but I will not check certificates, I need to check that the user is authorized in the backend, do I need IDM?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Please go to back end system and see the authorization profile of the user consuming the service. He must have SOAP Run time aurhorization for object S_SERVICE for the specific service. Also, the user needs application authorization for the underlying RFC call.
    Thanks,

  • How to expose services of Oracle HRMS to SMS or IVR

we have listen that some implemenation of HRMS provideing serivices of SMS or IVR. Means that enduser can get information of Absenses, Payroll related services using SMS or IVR.
    I am looking
    1. how to initiate this.
    2. any white paper or documents on this?
    Thanks

E-Business Suite exposes services in a number of ways. In HRMS, those services are essential PLSQL APIs, Java APIs and Workflow Business Events. All of these types of events are recorded in the Integration Repository, which is the foundation for the Integrated SOA Gateway in 12.1.
Now the Integrated SOA Gateway converts the PLSQL APIs (etc) into SOAP web services. This allows products like BPEL (and any technology that can consume web services) to integrate with the E-Business Suite. It's very powerful stuff and opens up all sorts of integration opportunities with E-Business Suite.
That said, there's nothing I know of in HRMS - out-the-box - that provides SMS or IVR integration. You could take a look at:
R12 Oracle E-Business Suite CTI Integration Options [ID 559531.1]
Is it Possible to Send Notification as SMS using Workflow Notification Mailer ? [ID 1126016.1]
How To Send Oracle Alert Messages To Mobile Phones? [ID 1160113.1]
Is there Integration Between Mobile Services and iRecruitment? [ID 1283124.1]
But the first is designed for CRM and the latter 3 really just confirm a lack of out-the-box functionality.
