Contact form for iweb?

Im just starting to play with the new iweb 08. The contact links are just simple mailto links. Is there a way to add a contact form? Mailto links tend to attract a lot of spam.
Thanks

I have used some of the forms from Form Logix...
http://www.formlogix.com/CreateWebForms.aspx
They have a wide variety and are very easy to use. The downside is that you are required to have their logo on them - to offset the cost of the free email service I guess.
This method of getting form information is a lot quicker than setting up your own form mail on a server. You can direct the replies to any email account on your Mac.

  • Creating forms for Iweb sites

    MY question is about creating forms for iweb sites.
    How do you do it?
    I think I read somewere that you can't do this with iweb,
    so I downloaded a free trial of rapidweaver, which will give me 3 pages for
    the free trial, but it says you need php.
    Which I don't know if I have php on my computer, my mac5 os x,
    and I am not sure what php is.
    If any one could explain how I can create forms on my iweb site
    in a easy to understand point form.
    That would be great!

    Well I am certainly willing to try, if you could
    explain how to do this
    Thanks for your reply.
    blueform,
    If you found my first post to you helpful, please mark it as such. That way people will have an easier time searching for/with a similar question about this topic.
    Okay, I can't go into all the dynamics of the process as each ISP may vary enough to make my description unusable. In other words, what works with my ISP may not work with yours. You'll need to check out your ISPes position and requirements as far as this goes.
    The first and most important thing to check out is does your ISP allow you to use CGI scripting such as PERL or PHP. Many small locally based ISPes allow this feature. Some large ISPes in Canada such as Bell's Sympatico give you Web space but do not allow scripting.
    Next, unless you are an accomplished programmer you need to find (ideally) a free script that allows you to e-mail a form. I generally recommend something from Matt's Script Archive The scripts are are simple, come with instructions and work fairly well. There is also PHP Junkyard. I use one of their scripts for a message board I have.
    Be forewarned, there is a learning curve. Also, if your ISP permits these scripts, you will need an FTP client application to upload them once you have made any necessary modifications.
    As an afterthought, you might Google around and see if anyone provides a service that might suit your needs. Usually in those cases all you need to do is enter some HTML code into your iWeb page. This is not a drag-n-drop process and requires some "under the hood" work. One last point. Most of the scripts that I've dealt with will require an e-mail address to send the completed forms. If all is done according to instructions, Spammers will never see the address (you set the permissions for the file that contains your e-mail address so that only the owner can read that particular file; the owner being you). Does this give you an idea of what is involved?

  • Flash Contact form for beginner

    Hello,
    I have been searching online for a tutorial to create a contact form on my flash website. I am using Flash CS3 and ActionScript 3. I am not fluent in ActionScript. I was looking to copy and paste the code and change the information to my own. Any help would be really appreciated.

    You should be able to find a number of tutorials if you search Google using "AS3 contact form tutorial"

  • DW CS5, Sending contact form results to email with page redirection using php script

    I am currently building a site from scratch with Dreamweaver, with the intent of replacing my current website layout that was designed using Intuit's website builder. My dreamweaver site is not online, but i have setup a local test server on my computer, using XAMPP, and i have an apache server with a MySQL database and a mercury mailserver running. I mention that in case it makes a difference in your answers. If necessary, I can include those settings, but that may be asking too much.
    I have an html contact form for users to schedule service appointments. I need the resulting actioned php file to do the following after submit is clicked: verify certain fields have been entered; prevent spammers or verify human visitors; send the form results to a (hidden from public view of any kind) email address; redirect user to a confirmation page, or an error page.
    I found the following code but being less than a newbie im not sure what needs to be changed, or if its even the right script i should be using:
    5 <?php
    6 $email = $_POST['email'];
    7 $mailto = '[email protected]';
    8 $mailsubj = 'You Have a Service Request';
    9 $url = '/MyLandingPage.html';
    10 $req = '0';
    11 $mailbody = "Results from form:\r\n";
    12 $space = ' ';
    13 $line = '
    14 ';
    15 foreach ($_POST as $key => $value)
    16 {
    17 if ($req == '1')
    18 {
    19 if ($value == '')
    20 {echo "$key is empty";die;}
    21 }
    22 $j = strlen($key);
    23 if ($j >= 20)
    24 {echo "Name of form element $key cannot be longer than 20 characters";die;}
    25 $j = 20 - $j;
    26 for ($i = 1; $i <= $j; $i++)
    27 {$space .= ' ';}
    28 $value = str_replace('\r\n', "$line", $value);
    29 $conc = "{$key}:$space{$value}$line";
    30 $text .= $conc;
    31 $space = ' ';
    32 }
    33 mail($emailadd, $subject, $text, 'From: '.$emailadd.'');
    34 echo '<META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="0; URL='.$url.'">';
    35 ?>
    Can anyone please illuminate me on what I need?
    Thank You in advance

  • Problem with contact form

    Hi-
    I found a contact form for my Flash website but it's not working properly. It uses ActionScript 3 and PHP, both of which I don't know much about. Because of this, I can't pinpoint the problem or how to fix it. Here's what's going on:
    1) Each field in the form only allows 3 characters and no special characters such as @ _ ! . , etc...
    2) When the user goes to the next field in the form, the previous field appears blank but the when clicking on that again, the original text appears.
    3) When submitting the form, it just keeps saying "in progress" and never shows the confirmation text nor does the email get sent. There is an HTML file included with this form but I am not sure if I need to put that in as I have embedded this form into an SWF file so I don't think I need that code but please let me know if I am wrong about this.
    I am posting both the AS code and PHP code below.. if someone can help me figure this out I would greatly appreciate it. I am not sure which file the problem is in. If someone here doesn't know PHP then at least see the AS code and let me know if the problem is in that or not. That way I can pinpoint which file the problem is coming from and then seek further help if needed. To see the form in action, go here: http://www.poojasdesigns.com/ and click on "Contact Me".. here are the codes:
    ActionScript 3.0
    //presistant reference to this movie's mail timeline:
    var mainTL:MovieClip = this;
    //start off with submit button dimmed
    submit_mc._alpha = 40;
    //create the LoadVars objects which will be used later
    //one to send the data...
    var dataSender:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    //and one to recieve what comes back
    var dataReceiver:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    create listener for Key Object
    this is just a U.I. thing - "wakes up" the submit button
    when all fields have at least some content
    var formCheck:Object = new Object();
    formCheck.onKeyUp = function() {
         if (name_txt.text != '' &&

    and applies our "normal" formatting to each input text field

              gains focus and resetting to normal when a field loses focus*/
         inputs[elem].onSetFocus = function() {
              this.borderColor = focus_border;
              this.backgroundColor = focus_background;

    You say you don't know much about AS3, and that you have embedded this form into an swf.  In what manner did you embed it, and what version of AS does the swf use?  Have you tried using the form in the page that was provided as a standalone test to see if it works?

  • Setting up Contact forms on AS3, Flash CS5????

    Does anyone have a clear answer for me please, I have been through Training with Trani on HD and also with the Lynda.com package, as I try to make the second contact form - the program tells me that there is a function repitition so what must I do cause I am making more than 1 contact form for my website?
    Does someone have an easy solution for me to go through cause its been like a week and I am tired of this silly issue, my website is done and now waiting to publish yet this error is not helping at all. Thanks for all the help...

    If you understand what I am saying I do not see the challenge of which you speak. You can rename functions to anything you like, just not the same name as another function.  The only thing I can imagine is that you do not understand that functions you see defined in code are named by whoever wrote the code.  So if you see a function like...
    function someWords(){
       // code
    that is a function that you can rename as you please...
    function someOtherWords(){
       // other code
    so long as you change whatever calls upon that function as well.
    But if the code within the functions is not going to change, then you don't need to have two functions defined to do the same thing anyways... just share the same one for both forms

  • Need help with PHP contact form

    Hi guys,
    I've made a PHP contact form for my site and need help with a couple of things:
    The form action links an external PHP script (scripts/contact-form-script.php) but is there a way I can have it so the PHP script for the form is contained within the same PHP file as my contact form (contact.php)?
    I tried just putting the form code at the top of contact.php but the browser automatically reads the anti-spam re-direct, so maybe that needs revising too?
    The second thing is, how can I make the Name, Email and Message fields mandatory? So if a user tries to submit the form and hasn't filled in one of the required fields and clicks submit, contact.php reloads with a message at the top of the form saying something like 'Complete the required fields' and highlights the relevant field with a red border?
    Here's the code for contact.php:
    <form action="http://www.mydomain.com/scripts/contact-form-script.php" method="post" name="contact" id="contact">
    <p><strong>Name:*</strong><br />
    <input name="name" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>E-mail:*</strong><br />
    <input name="email" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Telephone:</strong><br />
    <input name="telephone" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Company:</strong><br />
    <input name="company" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Address:</strong><br />
    <input name="address1" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><input name="address2" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Town:</strong><br />
    <input name="town" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>County:</strong><br />
    <input name="county" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    p><strong>Postcode:</strong><br />
    <input name="postcode" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Message:*</strong><br />
    <textarea name="message" cols="55" rows="8" class="ctextField"></textarea></p>
    <p><input name="submit" value="SEND MESSAGE" class="submitButton" type="submit" /><div style="visibility:hidden; width:1px; height:1px"><input name="url" type="text" size="45" id="url" /></div></p>
    </form>

  • Contact form with preloaded information

    Hey guys,
    I'm making a contact form for my site. Certain fields in the
    form like name, email address, etc., are already in a mysql
    database from the user registering. I'd like it to bring in the
    information from the mysql database to flash with php so that the
    user does not need to re-type them.
    I'm not sure how to make flash load the information into the
    dynamic text fields on the form upon entering frame one. Does
    anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

    No need for XML - don't bother with it. Just use PHP to pass
    key/value pairs
    back to flash using the LoadVars class. Do some reading on
    LoadVars, esp.
    the sendAndLoad method.

  • How to get a contact form working on OS X Server 10.8?

    Since PHP's mail() function does not seem to work on OS X Server (Mountain Lion), I was wondering what other ways there are to use a contact form for our website.
    Anyone?

    OK, tried and tested!
    Here we go.
    You are going to install PEARL wwithin php on the server and then download a package called PERL::Mail with all its dependencies:
    Thanks to http://echodittolabs.org/blog/2011/09/os-x-107-lion-development-native-apache-ph p-homebrew-mysql-or-mariadb  for the step by step for PEAR.
    Step 1
    $ sudo /usr/bin/php /usr/lib/php/install-pear-nozlib.phar
    Step 2
    $ cat >> ~/.bashrc <<'EOF'
    alias pear="php /usr/lib/php/pear/pearcmd.php"
    alias pecl="php /usr/lib/php/pear/peclcmd.php"
    EOF
    Step 3.  (just in case)
    $ sudo chmod o+x ./.bashrc
    Step 4.
    $ . ~/.bashrc
    Step 5
    $ sudo pear channel-update pear.php.net
    Step 6.
    $ sudo pecl channel-update pecl.php.net
    Step 7. (may say nothing to update but thats cool)
    $ sudo pear upgrade --force pear
    Step 8.
    $ sudo pear upgrade (ditto)
    Step 9.
    $ sudo pecl upgrade (ditto)
    Step 10. (adds the include path to your php.ini)1
    sudo sh -c "cat >> /etc/php.ini <<'EOF'
    include_path = ".:/usr/lib/php:/usr/lib/php/pear"
    EOF"
    Step 11. (Installs the PEAR::Mail module - with all dependencies)
    $ sudo pear install --alldeps -f mail
    Step 12. Test php script with Login SMTP Auth.
    <?php
    require_once "Mail.php";
    $from = "mark <[email protected]>";
    $to = "Fred <[email protected]>";
    $subject = "Hi!";
    $body = "Hi Mark23,\n\nHow are you?";
    $host = "localhost"; // or address of smtp host if different
    $username = "smtp username";
    $password = "smtp password";
    $headers = array ('From' => $from,
       'To' => $to,
       'Subject' => $subject);
    $smtp = Mail::factory('smtp',
       array ('host' => $host,
         'auth' => true,
         'username' => $username,
         'password' => $password));
    $mail = $smtp->send($to, $headers, $body);
    if (PEAR::isError($mail)) {
       echo("<p>" . $mail->getMessage() . "</p>");
      } else {
       echo("<p>Message successfully sent!</p>");
    ?>
    I was testing this on my local dev machine and not the server and kept getting a "need FQDN name for host" reject.  I added a  "localhost" variable to my dev machine FQDN and all was well.  I'm just telling you this if you test on a machine that IS NOT the  the smtp server host.
    Good luck! - Let me know how you go.

  • I filled out the form for Mountain Lion upgrade in the morning and expected to get the codes... It is 10 pm and no codes. Is it normal?

    I filled out the form for Mountain Lion upgrade in the morning and expected to get the codes... It is 10 pm and no codes. Is it normal?

    If it was the contact form for the forum mod team then it is normally about 3 working days as all mails are dealt with strictly in turn also if it was that form you would have had a confirmation immediately you sent the contact form as it opens a new web page with a reference number on it and also you will be personally contacted by phone or email

  • Hijacked Contact Form - Originally Created in Adobe Muse

    I have a Contact Form for a client website (which has since been removed) that appears to be hijacked. The posts didn't seem like spam mail where strange products/services were being offered but appeared as if individuals were using it as a message or discussion system. These are only a few of the recent submissions. I didn't think that there would be an issue posting the actual submission as the form is obviously being misused.
    I removed the email addresses in case they belonged to innocent victims of the misuse.
    The contact form was created using the forms widget in Muse and the files were uploaded to the hosting server via FileZilla. Does anyone know what this is, how it happend and possibly how I can fix or prevent it from happening again?

    The issue is not really with Muse although the fact that Adobe doesn’t support Captcha on none Business Catalyst sites is frustrating.
    The form generated with Muse will be using your ISP’s standard PHP mail script so the issues are with your ISP.  If your ISP cannot help then consider using a third party service such as jotform (http://www.jotform.com/).
    Don’t forget to complain to Adobe, the only way we are likely to get good working forms on non-BC sites is to complain, also ask for other items which are sadly lacking such as drop down boxes and radio buttons.
    Alternatively host it on BC and use the Captcha feature, you can do this by pointing the other site to BC site.  This is very simple within BC.

    Vicky Quick: The contact form for Muse sites doesn't allow my clients to reply to the person who contacted them. It puts their address in the top requiring them to cut and paste the person requesting information. How can I change the reply to field in the contact form and is that even an option? If not do you offer a work around? I've put this question on the forum and no one has an answer. PLEASE HELP!
    Sonam: Hi, welcome to Adobe
    Sonam: Vicky, is your site hosted via BC, or a 3rd party hosting provider?
    Vicky Quick: I have one on BC and one on godaddy both do not work
    Vicky Quick: The contact form works, but the reply back doesn't
    Vicky Quick: hello?
    Sonam: Vicky, this feature is not available via Muse or BC. Kindly share the link to your forum post, I shall forward it to the product team and ask them to get back to you at the earliest.
    Sonam: If there is a work around, or if it is possible with any customization, the product team shall help you with it.
    Vicky Quick: I have put it on the forum as well as third party sites like muse-themes.com and they don't have answer either
    Sonam: Kindly share the link to your forum post
    Vicky Quick: How do I share the link?
    Sonam: Copy and paste to this chat

    As Anshul has suggested , this needs a Customer Case Management system , where your client can reply directly to submitters email.
    With BC this is possible enabling CST( Customer Service Ticketing ) , you can define role responsible as which users should receive the submission emails and then reply to customers directly from email client used.
    Level responses can be used such as First level with escalation level. Enabling this , form submission will create a case which will then get converted into a web case and will be triggered into role responsible mailboxes. Site users(your client) can directly reply to the customer from any email client used using this method.
    In case you are using external server , you can use any third party ticketing system and setup on the email to which notifications are received.
    Currently , with Muse when form is setup with email . Submitters form submission notification is received from that email and submitters email is included in subject line , which you can use manually to send email replies.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • How do I create an email list sign up form for my iWeb website?

    Well that's the question - how do I create an email list sign up form for my iWeb website?
    Could someone tell me what's the simplest way using iWeb to create an interactive option
    for users to enter their email address and the info be forwarded to me so I can add to an
    email list?
    It would be great if, since I'm using a Mac computer & iWeb, there was a way to have the
    submitted emails automatically added to a group in my Mac Addressbook.
    I got this MacBook Pro in Sept 2010 so I believe that's iWeb '08 I'm using.
    Anyway I'm thinking there should be a way to do this with some system involving an HTMK
    Widget and an email account.
    By the way this is for hosting through a 'real server', not MobileMe (which I plan to get later
    when I can afford it).
    Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Mark

    Website forms require some code in a snippet and a formmail.php script on the server to process the form and send the info to the required email address. You can do all this when you switch to a "real" server.
    In the meantime you can use a form  or marketing service or, better still, an application like MailShoot which generates the form, handles the database and sends out the bulk emails.

  • Outlook 2013 with Exchange Server - Changed custom form for contacts is not shown

    Hello,
    Our infrastructure:
    Exchange Server 2010
    Outlook 2010
    Outlook 2013
    Windows 7 Pro, Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro
    The situation:
    We've used an old custom form for contacts, worked perfectly fine
    I've updated the form (adding some new custom fields and checkboxes) using Outlook 2013 and publishing the form (with a new name) to the Exchange folder
    I've set the form as default form in our contacts folder
    I've used this Script to set the new form for the existing contacts  and the name of the new form is saved correctly
    BUT if I open a contact in our Exchange contacts folder, Outlook 2013 (Outlook 2010) still shows the old form
    Steps I've taken so far:
    Cleared Outlook forms cache
    Repeated the above steps 1-4 in Outlook 2010
    Switched Cached Exchange Mode off and back on
    Allowed Scripts in Trust Center Settings
    Used a new clean Windows installation with a new Outlook 2013 installation
    Used different Exchange users on different systems, but some behavior when opening contacts
    I'm out of options I can think of, so maybe somebody else has some new view on this problem.
    Thank you very much in advance!
    Greetings,
    Karl

    Hi,
    Is the Exchange folder in which the custom form is published available to all users?
    From the description, the script used to work for the old custom form, correct? Which version of Outlook did you use with the old custom contact form? Outlook 2010/Outlook 2013 or an earlier version? If you used the script with an earlier version of Outlook,
    we can't make sure it will still work with Outlook 2010/Outlook 2013.
    In addition we may also try creating a new contact form and test the steps to see if it will work.
    Please let me know the result.
    Regards,
    Steve Fan
