Contacts reappear after deleting them (Exchange)!?

Hello everyone,
I'm not entirely sure if the following problem only occurred after upgrading to Yosemite or if it was there before.
However, I recently noticed "contacts" in the Mac contacts app that I didn't save there. They are just email addresses shown as such, without a name or anything.
Those where mostly people I've sent mails to, but didn't bother to save them as an actual contact. Nevertheless, that also happened with email addresses that where already linked to a proper contact. This for example confused FaceTime or Mail. Those apps where not able anymore to relate the mail addresses to the actual contact. After deleting those strange contacts everything was fine for some time, but now they keep coming back. Every time I delete them they show up again a day or two later. I have no idea what triggers that.
I've got two accounts synced with my address book. One being my iCloud account the other one an university Exchange account. Furthermore those contacts don't show up on my iPhone. I also noted that I don't see these contacts when I just choose the iCloud contacts in my address book. So I guess it must have something to do with the Exchange contacts!? I already deleted the account twice and also deleted the relevant library files as well as recent recipients from mail. Still they keep coming back. It's always the same couple of addresses and they don't really have something in common. At least nothing I can see.
It's really annoying. I should mention that I keep the exchange contacts in sync because I can then easily search for people's mail addresses from my university. Furthermore, as far as I know I shouldn't be able to create new contacts on that Exchange account and the contacts in question are not university mail addresses.
Has anyone experienced similar problems or does anyone know where the contacts app pulls those contacts from?
Thank you for your help

Please i need help very urgent !!! after deleting my exchange account because the company changed the password , I lost 150 200 contacts and i need to get them back very soon !  i never backed up on itunes ..please help

No. The contacts are "owned" by the Exchange server.
The Exchange server is owned by the company.
Everything on the Exchange server is owned by the company.
If you quit or were terminated, and your access to the system has been revoked, then there is nothing you and do at this point. Once you deleted the account from your phone, all of the associated data was deleted.
NEVER store personal information on company systems.

  • How do I stop past email addresses I have sent to going in to my contacts?  I delete them from my contact and they reappear. Thanks

I stop past email addresses I have sent to going in to my contacts?
I delete them from my contact and they reappear.
    Thanks

They're probably in Mail's previous recipients window. Click the Window menu, then Previous Recipients. You can search for and delete addresses from here.

  • How to keep items on ATV after deleting them on iTunes library

does anyone know how to delete movies/tv shows on the computer's hard disk/i tunes library without loosing them on the ATV after the next sync. My problem is that I am only using a Laptop and my HD is already full and I want to delete some of my movies/tv shows on it and I want to keep them on the ATV. However even if I go to manual sync and uncheck the specific items ATV will delete these movies from its storage upon the next sync process. So is there a way to keep items on the ATV after deleting them in the iTunes library?

Unfortunately, that's not how it's supposed to work.
The important thing to appreciate is that AppleTV is not like an external storage/backup device as you cannot ordinarily get files from it should you need to transfer them elsewhere or you lose the originals. You must back up anything you'd hate to lose in some other way.
Many of us attach an external USB drive to the computer, migrate the iTunes library to that, and stream most content, however that is less practical with a laptop if you need the laptop to be mobile and to use AppleTv when it's on the move.
One thing you could try is to test delete a file from the iTunes library manually. In that way iTunes still holds a reference to the file but complains it can't find it. Not sure if this still causes file deletion from AppleTV as the item is still referenced in the database but you could try it and see (make sure you copy the file somewhere safe first!).

  • Do tracks of files/pictures/etc. remain hidden inside the iphone after deleting them?

If so, I am deeply concerned. I won't get into the whole location tracking feature but allegedly forensic analysis of the iPhone can reveal what pictures you've had on your iPhone even after deleting them. A few questions:
    - There are many "scanner" apps out there and the idea of a hidden document scan lying there hidden raises concern.
    - Since the battery is NOT user replaceable, does Apple give you a refurbished iPhone with a new battery when you bring in your iPhone for battery replacement? Sensitive files/pictures might still be on it and the idea of getting someone else's iPhone doesn't seem appealing to me. I don't want a scratched iPhone since I've kept mine in a leather case all the time.
    - Does the "erase all content and settings" feature truly erases ALL content of your iPhone? (e.g. does it zero out data?)

    i feel your pain
    this is so infuriating
it's great little app, and so easy to record audio on the fly.
BUT then absolutely impossible to easily transfer them to my desktop.
    infuriating

  • Cookies reappear after deleting.

Safari 6.1.4 (and older): I remove cookies a couple of times a day and have noticed that some reappear either immediately after leaving the site, or later that day or even the next day. Sometimes afer quitting Safari and computer put to sleep. Some reappear after deleting multiple times. They are not related to homepage. Also, did not revisit the orignating specific websites visited such as the worst - Wells Fargo.

Safari does not have good cookie management.
If you are really concerned about cookies, use a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome

  • I lost mail smart folders on iMac after delete them on Mac Air

I lost mail smart folders on iMac after delete them on Mac Air with differents mail accounts.
I don't undestand, I have email accounts totally differents between iMac and Mac Air, I don't know if is an iCloud issue.
When I open Mail on Air I see a lot of smart folders I use on iMac and I thinked of a some old sync mismatch, so I deleted smart folders on Air.
Today when I turn on my iMac I see I lost ol my smart folders, but are differents computers, differents email accounts, one used for work the other at home (gmail).
Of course I have time machine backup but don't know how to restore smart folders.
Please help me, I don't want smart folders be synced beetween differents accounts
    I attach my iCloud settings...

I don't know the answer to your question, but smart folders do not actaually contain messages, just links to messages from other folders. So nothing has actually been lost. Once you recreate the smart folders, you'll see the same mail inside them that you did before.

  • My email keeps loading the same emails even after deleting them.  They keep coming back everytime I start up the mail app.  What can I do?

My email keeps loading the same emails even after deleting them.  They keep coming back everytime I start up the mail app.  What can I do?

After you delete them, empty the trash before they re-load.

  • Why does my emails keep downloading after deleting them?

Why does my emails keep downloading after deleting them?

It sounds like you may be "synced" to an IMAP email server with your ISP.  You would need to go into Mail>Preferences and set the messages to be removed from the IMAP server after some period of time so they don't redownload to your computer.  That's one possiblility.  Another is if you are synced with iCloud, then the mail is stored on your iCloud server backup and will redownload until you remove it.
    Hope this helps

  • Flagged mails shown in "flagged" folder after deleting them

    Hi folks,
I have the following problem with my mail app:
I marked 4 mails as flagged and they were shown in the "flagged"-folder. After deleting them the flagged folder shows still the 4 flagged mails although they are deleted. Meanwhile I reinstalled the specific mail account, restarted the iPhone and so on. Nothing helped. Any ideas? Thx in advance.

    Hi Laura
I'm not sure you said which version of RoboHelp you are
using. I'm going to base my answer on X5.
You should find a file inside your project folder location
that is named rhbuildtag.apj. So what I would do is to close
RoboHelp HTML, locate and delete your ProjectName.CPD file. Edit
the rhbuildtag.apj file to remove any instances of those tags. Then
restart RoboHelp HTML and see if things have improved. If my hunch
is correct, this should correct the issue.
    Cheers... Rick

  • HT204150 mayday.....I inadvertly erased my contacts when I deleted them from my old phne and now my new phone contacts are gone

mayday....I inadvertly erased my contacts when I deleted them from my old phone and now my contacts in my new phone is empty.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Do you have a back up taken prior to deleting them.
To restore from a back up made through iTunes, follow these instructions.
To restore from a back up made through iCloud, try the following:
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

  • All contacts gone after deleting old Outlook (exchange) mail account from iphone.  How to get contacts back?

I deleted an old company mail account and when doing so it deleted all the contacts on the iphone.  How can I get them back?  Can I do a restore where I import ONLY the contacts?  Or does Restore just overwrite everything?
When I connect my phone with itunes and go to the "Info" tab, it asks me if I want to "Sync Contacts with Outlook" where outlook is a choice from a dropdown menu.  The question I have is what contacts are stored on itunes, if any, and which way it will write them --->  phone to itunes or itunes to phone.  Since my phone contact folder is empty right now, I want to get these back from itunes.  I am hoping those outlook contacts are stored on itunes and can then be downloaded to my phone, but I do not want to do a complete restore as the last time the phone was synced was a long time ago and contacts will be lost.  If the sync writes an empty contacts folder onto itunes then the restore will not even be an option.  Just want to make sure I do not overwrite any contacts that are stored on itunes.
By the way, icloud for contacts was not on so I do not have that route of recovery.
    Help.

Exchange contacts exist only on the Exchange server, and are automatically deleted when the account is remove.  This is standard security policy of Exchange accounts.  They would not have been backed up to iCloud in any event.

  • Books immediately reappear after deleting

I'm trying to delete two books (both created in iBooks Author) from my ipad. When I delete them from iBooks, they immediately reappear with the little download arrow icon. At this stage, when I choose Edit and tap on the covers, the Delete button is not activated. If I re-download, open, close, and then hit Edit, I can delete the titles. But then they reappear a second later, waiting to be downloaded. (I can successfully delete other content from iBooks.)
I have deleted iBooks and reinstalled. No luck. The books are not being synced with iCloud.
Any suggestions for getting rid of these pesky books?
    Thanks,
    pjs

Update: I created a new account and imported the calendar there. Used it for a few minutes, do not have the same problem.
