Container and excel

I have create an archive of some measurement in an excel worksheet with
activeX. I want to view this archive without open excel. I want to use
a container: but only a part of the worksheet is visible on the screen.
I try to add scrollbar but I didn't find a good documentation how to
use containers (there aren't a lot of documentation in the NI's
manuels). Can someone help me?

Before you buy.

I'm writing this partially from memory, so no guarantees, but,
if you have Excel installed on your machine,
this is how you do it with ActiveX (or pretty close, anyway):
(1) Place an automation refnum on the front panel.
(2) Right click on the automation refnum, choose browse, and select the excel object
library.
(3) Choose 'Application'. Go to the block diagram.
(4) Get the Communication>>ActiveX palette up and thumb-tack it so it stays visible.
(5) Place an 'automation open' on the diagram and wire the automation refnum to it.
(6) Wire the output side to a property node - select the Workbooks property.
(7) Wire the output of that to an invoke node - select the 'Open' method.
(You'll need the excel help file to figure out what to wire to the various elements
of this node).
You now have a handle to the workbook (your file).
(8) Wire the output side of the 'Open' element to another property node.
(9) Select the worksheets property.
You now have a handle to the 'worksheets collection' - an array maintained by Excel.
(10) Wire this to an invoke node and select the 'Item' method - this indexes the
array.
(11) Wire a number to the 'Index' element to select the sheet by number.
(12) Now the trick - place a second automation refnum on the front panel.
Right click on it and browse again, get the excel object library, but this time
choose 'Worksheet'.
(13) Go back to the diagram, and place a 'To G data' function.
(14) Wire the worksheet automation refnum to the 'type' input of the 'to G data'
function.
(15) Wire the output of the 'item' element (from the previouos invoke node) to the
'to G data' function.
The output side of the 'to G data' function is now a worksheet handle.
Almost done.
(16) Go get another invoke node, and select 'Range'.
Check the Excel examples provided by NatInst to see what to wire to this range node.
(Its some kind of row-column specifier, but I don't recall the exact format).
(17) Finally, wire the output of the Range element to a property node, and select
'Value'.
If I remember correctly, the output of this last property node is a 1D or 2D array,
depending on what range was specified. (Not real sure about this).
(18) Use one more 'to G data' conversion with the desired data type (2D array?) wired
to its type specifier, and you're done.
(*) Don't forget to close all the refnums (or pointers, or handles, or whatever)
using 'automation close'.
If you fail to close all the refnums every time the VI is run, Windows will be very
unhappy !!
(**) If you don't want to see Excel opening up, there is a 'visible' property that
can be
set at the Excel_application level. Have fun but don't stay up as late as I just
did.

  • Multi-level UPCs (I can do as pivot table in Access and Excel, but not SAP)

    I'm working for a shoe manufacturer. We've got inventory that can be grouped into "cases" as well as "open-case" in regards to UPCs. We're able to apply the UPC to individual items such as open-case stock OR case-only, but we can't figure out how we can add the groupings needed to add UPCs to individual items AND the cases associated with each shoe/size. Here's a little more detail: We sell shoes in cases, MOSTLY. Occasionally, we have a shoe model that will sell as open-case. The cases (which have a UPC) contain an assortment of sizes (each of which has its own UPC). We need to be able to access the information for the associated cases when looking at a product and when on a case, we need to see the make-up of the case - such as associated sizes, qty contained, and their respective UPCs. I know we could easily do this in Access or Excel using pivot tables... Is this POSSIBLE in SAP Business One???

    You may check Sales BOM function to see if that meet your need. The case can be set up as an Sales BOM item.

  • Where does workspace store the pdf and excel file ?

    Hi,
    I'm working on a Web Analysis project and I have created a dynamic web menu based on the workspace repository to improve the poor capacities of WA in terms of menu. I use the javascript API to control the WA applet from the menu.
    Now my problem is that my customer created a folder in workspace (which is translated into a sub menu of my dynamic menu), and that folder contains pdf and excel files. The function openFile which I use to open report in the applet doesn't work on pdf and excel files. So I've been looking for the files on the server, to know where they are stored, so that I could just modify the java class that generates the menu.
    I couldn't find those files on the server. Where are they ? Are they stored in the database as an xml string like the report s ? If yes then I might have a problem.
    Has anyone already done this ?

    Tomcat stores it in the work dir under $TOMCAT_HOME.
    There'll be directories like localhost%2f<urcontext>..
    As for as JSP changes being recognized, try refreshing ur browser....

  • Taskbar Jumplist anomalies for Word 2010 and Excel 2010

    I am having problems with missing jumplists for Office 2010 products (Word and Excel) pinned on the Windows 7 taskbar, **BUT** have no problems with jumplists for Notepad and IE pinned on the taskbar.
    Observation 1: I just upgraded from Office 2010 Starter to full Office 2010 by getting a product key. Full Office 2010 was installed on my laptop when I purchased it but only Starter was licensed. Full Office 2010 was unusable until the upgrade. I suspect
    the leapfrog from Starter to full Office 2010 might have a part in this jumplist issue.
    Observation 2: I can see from a DOS prompt that the AutomaticDestinations and CustomDestinations folders exist under Recent. However, from Windows Explorer I cannot see the 2 folders under Recent. (That may be a clue…if other people CAN see the 2 folders
    from Windows Explorer.)
    Observation 3: In DOS, I can see that both directories have files ending in -ms. I can also see updates (new files with fresh timestamps) from opening Word and Excel files in those 2 directories. It’s almost like Word and Excel don’t understand to go look
    in those 2 directories after the Office upgrade, even though Windows 7 (?) generates the -ms files for the jumplist function.
    Observation 4: Again, no problems with Notepad and IE jumplists. I can remove the files from the AutomaticDestinations folder and cause Notepad to have no jumplist items, and then restore them and Notepad has jumplist contents again.
    Observation 5:  I had no problem using jumplists with Word Starter and Excel Starter.  All references to Office/Word/Excel Starter are now gone from the Starter button and All Programs - sent to Recycle bin.  I deleted the Word Starter
    and Excel Starter entries when I upgraded, but I just deleted the Microsoft Office Starter (Englisgh) entry under All Programs today...I thought it was a benign entry and wouldn't hurt since I wasn't using it.  Maybe there's some corruption in registry
    as a result of the mixture.  Interestingly, I can drag a file created in Word Starter to the taskbar and it will try to pin it to the Word Starter taskbar "ghost" that's in the Recycle bin.
    Any clues anyone?  I have no large files in the two destination folders, and have only about 20 files total in each folder...far fewer than the 999 threshhold mentioned in one of the updates for Office 2010.

    I encountered exactly the same problem, and under exactly the same circumstances as the original poster (upgraded from Office Starter to Home and Business; jump lists worked fine in Starter, then stopped working for Excel and Word after upgrading). 
    Like the original poster, none of the various fixes found online corrected the problem, nor did re-installing Office.
    I also tried what was suggested by Max Meng and created a new User Account. The problem occurred for the new account, just as it did with the old one.
    After about 6 hours of fighting, I have finally solved the problem.  The solution is not easy, fast or pretty.
    What I did was uninstall Office (again) using the Control Panel. Then I ran a FixIt utility found here:

    My hope was that this would do additional registry clean-up.  I knew from earlier attempts that this alone would not fix the problem, though.
    Despite uninstalling twice, there were still a lot of references left in the registry to "Word Starter" and "Excel Starter".  Likewise, there were still references to "WINWORDC.EXE" and "EXCELC.EXE", which are the starter versions of the executables.
    So I went through the registry using RegEdit, and manually deleted every key which included those strings.  The largest number of cases were file type definitions for various Word and Excel file extensions.  When in doubt, I deleted entire tag
    hierarchies for Word and Office file types, figuring that they would be restored when I reinstalled Office.  In the process, I removed pretty much every reference to Word or Excel that I could find in the registry.
    I also deleted any directory on my hard drive (in c:\Program Files(x86), c:\Program Data, and c:\Users\<name>\AppData which appeared to be related to Office.
    Having done this, I reinstalled again, and the jump lists for Word and Excel now work.
    In debugging the problem, I found that .automaticDestination-ms files (which contain the data behind the jump lists) were not being created when I opened Word or Excel documents; they *were* being created when I manually pinned individual files to the
    taskbar, however. 
    I suspect that this might be due to the long hexadecimal filename being based on a hash of the application name, or what the system thinks is the application name based on the file type.  Removing the references to "Word Starter" and "Excel Starter",
    and the corresponding WINWORDC.EXE and EXCELC.EXE in the registry might have cleared up this problem.
    Obviously this fix is potentially risky, and should only be attempted if you are comfortable editing the registry. Making a full system backup beforehand would be a wise precaution.  For this specific case, however (broken jump lists after
    upgrading from Starter to full Office) it would appear the only alternative is a clean install of Windows (to wipe the registry completely).

  • Dropbox files causing Indesign, Word and Excel to crash

    If we try to open any file contained in our dropbox folder - the application instantly hangs and crashes.
    The is the same for applications like Word and Excel and also Indesign when 'placing' a file.
    You can open the files by clicking on them directly in Finder - but by opening them from the application - the app crashes.
    Dropbox said the latest Yosemite update (10.10.1) would fix this - but it clearly has not.
    Does anyone have any advice please of what to do - or even just the support that you are suffering too!

    FYTM I am definitely feeling this - I'm writing my dissertation and crossed word three times tonight. At least now I know what's causing it, but I am hoping there's some kind of fix soon.

  • JCOM example and Excel 2003

    Following the instructions to get the jsp2com example running with Excel 2003 results in a JSP compilation error.
    The generated classes contain an interface declaration for Application, i.e. Application.java contains
    package excel;
    public interface Application {
    but the JSP tries to instantiate it, i.e. line 40 in the JSP reads
    excel.Application app = new excel.Application();
    Of course this doesn't work. Any ideas what has changed and how I can get this example to run?

    First you can try checking if you have configured your apset to work with xltx.
    1. Open BPC web admin and select AppSet Parameters
    2. Check ALLOW_EXTENSIONS and DEFAULT_EXTENSIONS if you have xltx there
    3. If not, add and click on update
    If this continues to happen, check note  "1579344 - Office 2007 extensions not loading in BPC 7.5 SP6 for NW". This can be a program error, but note that it only happens for some templates.

  • ActiveX and Excel Questions

    I've done searches and haven't really found what I'm looking for so maybe you guys can help.
    Basically what I want to do is retrieve a named location from Excel and place it on the front panel. I figure the way to do that would be to have an ActiveX container and put the data into that. It is here where I get stuck. Is this possible? I haven't found a way to do that from browsing the VIs and properties. There's a clearer list below of the order I want to do things in.
    1) Open Excel (done);
    2) Retrieve an area of my excel file (done);
    3) take the excel 2-D data area and put the data into a specific area (inside a box for instance) on the FP;
    4) Do what ever I wanna do to the data and write (and save) it back to Excel;
    5) Close Excel (done)
    Is this possible? Or am I being a little too ambitious?

    The way our files are edited now through LV is a pain. Everything is stored in Excel but the data presented in a manageable, albeit very tedious, way through our interface. I'm trying to make it easier to view and easier to change multiple things at once by basically allowing the user to edit the Excel stuff from the LV environment where the data will look like more than justa bunch of numbers in rows and columns.

    SAP and Excel sort the dash (u201C-u201C) character in different ways. Since the dash character shows up in a number of our material numbers, this causes issues when mass-loading lots of changes using MM17. Has anyone been able to change the sort types to match?

    Default sort orders In an ascending sort, Microsoft Office Excel uses the following order. In a descending sort, this sort order is reversed.
    Value  Comment
    Numbers   Numbers are sorted from the smallest negative number to the largest positive number.
    Dates   Dates are sorted from the earliest date to the latest date.
    Text   Alphanumeric text is sorted left to right, character by character. For example, if a cell contains the text "A100," Excel places the cell after a cell that contains the entry "A1" and before a cell that contains the entry "A11."
    Text and text that includes numbers stored as text are sorted in the following order:
    0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 (space) ! " # $ % & ( ) * , . / : ; ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~ + < = > A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z
    Apostrophes (') and hyphens are ignored, with one exception: If two text strings are the same except for a hyphen, the text with the hyphen is sorted last.

    Logical   In logical values, FALSE is placed before TRUE.

    Note    A blank cell is an empty cell and is different than a cell with one or more space characters.
    Possibly sap uses a different strategy for sorting hence you are getting different results.

    I have several Windows Server Standard 2012 RDS with Office 2013 Standard 32-bit.
    Servers are fully updated with Windows Update.
    On all of them we get errors in Word and Excel.
    Word:
    Microsoft Word
    The disk is full or too many files are open.

    Microsoft Excel

    If the document contains corrupt or invalid links, follow the methods below to solve the issue:
     Method 1: Save Your Word Document as Rich Text Format
     Method 2: Save Your Word Document as a Web Archive
     Method 3: Test for Invalid Object Links
     Method 4: Paste the Problem Object as a Picture
     Method 5: Recreate the Microsoft Equation Object
    If you are running the Bgmail utility, edit the Winstart.bat file or the Autoexec.bat file, and place a semicolon (;) at the beginning of the Bgmail.exe line to temporarily turn it off. Save and close the file, and then restart Windows and run ScanDisk.

  • ProClarity Web Professional and Excel 2013

    Hi
    I've recently installed Excel 2013 Professional Plus and I've noticed a slight change in behaviour between ProClarity and Excel when Export to Excel is used.
    When I export to Excel two Excel workbooks seems to open - 1 called Book1.xlsx is simply an empty workbook, the second one contains the data that has been exported from ProClarity. Unfortunately since I installed Excel 2013, then workbook which appears in
    front is the blank workbook. When I had Excel 2010 installed, the workbook with exported data appeared as the front window.
    We are about to embark on an Excel 2013 rollout and I know this will generate calls with our ProClarity users.
    Any ideas why this is happening and how to resolve?

    Another breakthrough with this case is that when you install Office Web Apps SP1 this will enable you to open the OneNote from Apple Tablets or Android Tablets.
    One More thing is that Android Tablets does not support opening the sharepoint site by the server name only ie http://servername/ you need to add the domain at the end like this http://servername.domain.local/ and in order to open the onenote on tablet you
    need when creating the wac farm to add the domain in the command
    New-OfficeWebAppsFarm –InternalUrl http://webappservername.adjd.local –AllowHttp –EditingEnabled

  • How to refresh the data in a container and to update the new data

    I have created a Module Pool Program in which i have two containers to display the long text.
    Initially this container is filled and based on some condition i want to update the text in the same conatiner.
    I am using the below two classes to do all this.

    Could someone help me how to remove the long text in the container and update the new long text.
    I am getting the new long text but not able display it in the same container. Please someone help me how to refresh and update the container.

    You need to close Exel when before your VI is running. Excel can not have two instances running at the same time.
