SAP and Excel sorting

SAP and Excel sort the dash (u201C-u201C) character in different ways. Since the dash character shows up in a number of our material numbers, this causes issues when mass-loading lots of changes using MM17. Has anyone been able to change the sort types to match?

Default sort orders In an ascending sort, Microsoft Office Excel uses the following order. In a descending sort, this sort order is reversed.
Value  Comment
Numbers   Numbers are sorted from the smallest negative number to the largest positive number.
Dates   Dates are sorted from the earliest date to the latest date.
Text   Alphanumeric text is sorted left to right, character by character. For example, if a cell contains the text "A100," Excel places the cell after a cell that contains the entry "A1" and before a cell that contains the entry "A11."
Text and text that includes numbers stored as text are sorted in the following order:
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 (space) ! " # $ % & ( ) * , . / : ; ? @ [ \ ] ^ _ ` { | } ~ + < = > A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z
Apostrophes (') and hyphens are ignored, with one exception: If two text strings are the same except for a hyphen, the text with the hyphen is sorted last.
Note    If you have changed the default sort order to be case-sensitive through the Sort Options dialog box, then the order for alphabetic characters is the following: a A b B c C d D e E f F g G h H i I j J k K l L m M n N o O p P q Q r R s S t T u U v V w W x X y Y z Z
Logical   In logical values, FALSE is placed before TRUE.
Error   All error values, such as #NUM! and #REF!, are equal.
Blank cells   In both an ascending and descending sort, blank cells are always placed last.
Note    A blank cell is an empty cell and is different than a cell with one or more space characters.
Possibly sap uses a different strategy for sorting hence you are getting different results.

  • BO XI 3.1 SP3 and Excel 2010

    Hi There
    My BO is BO XI 3.1 SP3, and excel is 2010, my webi report has over 65523 rows, but I found in the excel, it will split into two tabs, it does not use excel 2010 feature
    does any one know the reason?

    Excel 2010 is not suportive by BO XI 3.. It is possible in BO XI 4.0. You can try What Gowtam Allu said, but I am not sure if it works.

    u can even export the text in txt format and later right click and open with excel , u wont be able to directly import it into excel as it is not giving u any option to upload in excel directly

  • Link SAP with Excel

    Hello SAP Gurus-
    Every month we have to download various reports from SAP (ME2J, FS10N, FD10N, FK10N and others) and export it to excel. Than in excel, we have to mannually format the same.
    Is there a way we can link SAP with excel? Like if anyone in my company posts against particular vendor, it will automatically update the excel file that will have report from FK10N (Vendor Balance Display)
    One of my friend at Bloomberg said that their SAP is linked to excel where excel is updated automatic. But I could not get any further details on how it works.
    Please let me know if there is a way we can implement this system in our company.

    Hi,
    You have to direct download it in to the Excel sheet without export to excel file.
    E.g:- If you need to download the balance or any data fron the spreatsdeet amd yu download the file and give the file name as .xls it will download in the excel format.

    can  i upload   an internal table  from  SAP to single Excel file with different sheets for example like : sheet1, sheet2, sheet3.......sheet10. , but need to upload data from sap to excel worksheets ie. from multiple named tabs in Excel.     Yes indeed it is possible to write data from internal table to different excel sheets. Check out SAP's Microsoft OLE functionality.Search on SDN for OLE . Following are some links

  • EPM and EVDRE sorting changed in BPC 10

    We feel that the expand function on base level (BAS) in both EPM and EVDRE have been changed from 7.5 to BPC 10. It is the sorting of members that we feel is wrong. It is not expanding on the order of the dimension but on what hierarchy level order the member has. This will render in strange sort order of the members. We got this answer from the support on this:
    “By product design, I would like to confirm the changing of Member order for BAS Key of in BPC 10 (within EPM-Addin), comparing to 7.5 version for an EVDRE report. In version 7.5, the members are retrieved in the order of the dimension whereas in version 10, the members are retrieved by hierarchy level order (refer to the attached document "What's News" in PDF format, on the section page 11). By the way, you can change the default member order to ascending in version 10, please follow the steps below:
    1.       Click Edit Report and click the Dimension where the members need to be reordered to bring up the Member Selector window.
    2.       Click the Member Sorting & Grouping button and check the box next to Enable Member Sorting and click OK twice.
    After these steps, the members should be in ascending order.”
    This is actually not helping at all. It is then sorted based on numerical and alphabetical order. This is not good! Is there actually a need for sorting like this when you do it on a base level?
    To explain what we would like to have then:
    We would like it to sort as the expansion on “Descendants” (EPM) “ALL” (EVDRE) except for the calculated members which should be excluded.
    Is there anyone else that feels the same as we do?

    I posted an idea to SAP and got this answer. We have SP 19 so I will test it when we get the new version:

    Solution
    Once you have installed the EPM add-in, edit the the "FPMXLClient.dll.config" file in the installation directory and set the "UseHierarchyOrderForBaseLevelSelectionRelationShip" element value to "true".

  • SAP and Non-SAP data to Xcelsius

    Hi Experts,
    I m new to Xcelsius and i a m currently working on Xcelsius project, i need help on approach to bring both SAP and Non-SAP data to Xcelsius. Here the scenario goes on....
    Total 6 plants are there, out of 6, 4 plants are on SAP and other 2 plants are on Non-SAP (Excel)
    The requirement is to develop a dashboard to see all the plants details (both SAP and Non-SAP)
    The approach i suggested for SAP: ECC --> BW --> InfoProvider --> Query --> QaaWS --> Xcelsius
    For non-sap, data is available in excel, so we can bring that data directly to xcelsius, but problem is how to make it dynamaic because data in excel changes daily.
    So my doubt is, if i  develop a universe on excel files, then how to combine both SAP and Non-SAP universes. Is Data Federator is required for this or is there any approach to bring both SAP and Non-SAP data to Xcelsius.
    Can any one help me on this

    Another approach which i have used in the past is to have data in XML format, placed on a web server.  When my data changes daily, i just export my data from excel or whatever source into the XML format..
    Use the XML data connector to bring into xcelsius.

    I'm new to the SAP scripting. On my company we use lots and lots of Excel spreadsheet lists with sales orders and projects, which is why i need to learn to connect those lists with SAP.
    I have a list of sales orders in Excel starting downwards from cell A2 and I want to get the exchange rate on each of the orders from the header of VA03, so that the script copies the currency rate of each sales order next to the order number in the spreadsheet.

  • CR2008 , WebI and Excel 2010

    I have CR2008 SP1 and Excel 2010, when I tried to export CR report to excel, I got the error and the program will be terminated,  if I select "constant column width( in points)", the report can be exported to excel, but if I select the default setting "column width based on the objects in the whole report", it will give me the error
    The instruction at "0xff168b1c" referenced memory at "0xff168b1c". The memory could not be "read", click on OK to terminated the program, then second error will show up
    The exception unknown software exception (0xc0150010) occured in the application at location 0x7c94487f. Click on Ok to terminated the program...
    also I have BO XI 3.1 SP3, when I tried to export my WebI report to excel, it does not use Excel 2010 feature(support over 65536 rows), it will split the report with over 65536 rows into two sheets like with Excel 2003
    does anyone know how to fix these two issues?

    Excel 2010 is not supported in CR 2008. It is in the next version of CR 2011.
    No option to not get sheets for more than 65k rows, limitation of Excel.
    Install CR 2008 SP 3, requires an uninstall first. Be sure to have your CR keycode available.

  • Fail to export from SAP to Excel on SAPGUI 640 on NW04

    Hi
    I have a user who is trying to use the export to excel button in a standard SAP transaction, when he uses it, he gets all the questions, chooses excel to export to, chooses table, then nothing happens, he just gets the standard message 'save data in the spreadsheet'.
    I logged onto his PC & used SAPGUI in ST03N, when i tried the export I got the same issue, selected all the export options to table for excel, no errors, but excel does not load? I did the export on my PC from ST03N and all worked ok and excel started and exported the data as expected, so its the users SPAGUI/PC/Excel.
    No other users are having this issue, lots are exporting to Excel ok, even loaded it and then done the export with Excel already started and fails to export. The PC is a standard build, same as the rest, as is SAPGUI 640.
    The desktop PC team have passed this onto me and i'm the basis admin, i've ran things like SAPCHECK in the past, has anyone got any ideas what I can check to find out why Excel is failing to start on users PC when triggered from SAPGUI? are there any specific options you need selected on SAPGUI install to allow export to work?
    Out desktops are Windows XP Pro and Office 2000.
    We are running NW04 & ERP2004 on Windows 2003 64 bit & SQL Server 2000

    Just check if the users authorizations are alright. Check if she has the activity 61 in authorization object S_ALV_LAYO. If she doesnot have assign it to her and then check again.

  • SAP and WINDOWS NT folders not there in Authentication  under CMC

    Hello All,
    I recently installed BOJ Enterprise 3.1 SP3 and also installed Integration kit 3.1 SP3 in Linux_x86.  In the initial logon screen i can see the SAP and WINDOWS NT in the drop down in the Authentication. But after selecting the Enterprise option to login CMS  I selected Authentication to configure the BW Backend system but i cannot see SAP folder or Windows NT option. I cn only see Enterprise and LDAP option those are by default comes along with BOJ Enterprise 3.1.
    Can anyone tell me why Iu2019m not able to see SAP and Windows NT in the CMS HOME --> Authentication
    I'm able to publish BW but RFC also failing after creating using PROGRAM ID.
    Any suggestions are appreciated

    When the CMS is on unix/linux the NT and Ad plugin are not loaded, it seems some sort of mistake that the dropdown appears for either of them.
    On the SAP side if you don't see the plugin it indicates the integration kit or jco arenot installed properly/completely. That should work on either platform.

  • XLR b1 2007 and excel 2007    excel sheet is empty

    i like to use xlr in b1 2007 with excel 2007.
    after getting a fail in xl reporter, i change the security settings in excel 2007.
    now the excel sheet opens, but there are no values in it.
    for example, i made only a query about the business partner (the result is only one column) and like to
    import the result in excel 2007 , there is only a headline named 'business partner' . And the column you could see in the xlr filled with the business partner names is empty.
    sap b1 and excel 2007 runs on terminal services published by citrix.
    has someone an idea to solve the problem?
