Content search returns null

content search on web interface, and JAVA API returns null (0 elements). is there any parameter to add, to enable intermedia text on ifs ?
thanks in advance.

Hello Olivier,
content search on web interface, and JAVA API returns null (0 elements). is there >any parameter to add, to enable intermedia text on ifs ?
thanks in advance. I believe there is something in the iFS adminstrative
setup that initiates intermedia indexing. Just now I
looked in the Setup and Administration Guide but I cannot
find a reference to it. If you have a system administrator
maybe they can find it or maybe someone else here
knows, but if that is true it could explain the null.
Look closely at the installation or adminstration guides.

  • Non-local searches return "null" results

    I'm creating a Merged help output using AIR Browser Based Help. Said output currently has one major flaw: null search results when viewed over a network.
    Now, I have read through the thread on this forum about people who initially got a "null" search result when searching a local project, but with the search subsequently working, and indeed that behavior is what I was initially seeing. That is, on my local copy of the project, my first search would return "null," and then things would work normally. However, when other users accessed my local project over our network, they never got anything other than "null" results. (Quick aside for relevant information: output was from 64-bit RH9, testing is on FIrefox 13 and I.E. 9) If I move my local copy onto the network, I am no longer successful in searching.
    I have performed the suggested fix on the whfhost.js file, and while it fixed the problem locally-- I no longer see "null" results-- the problem persists for non-local access. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks!

    For the benefit of anyone else, this is the solution that was provided by Adobe.
    Open the generated output folder and open whfhost.js file in the notepad application. Search for the following strings in the file. you need to replace this function
    function Query()
      gbAIRSearchString  = goOdinHunter.strQuery;
    g_CurPage = 1;
    context = new HuginContext();
      context.reset();
    context.push( goOdinHunter.query, goOdinHunter,
      processHunterResult, null );
      context.resume();
    With this new function
    function isValidType(obj)
    return ( (typeof(obj)!='undefined')&&(obj!=null) );
    function Query()
      gbAIRSearchString  = goOdinHunter.strQuery;
    g_CurPage = 1;
    if (isValidType(context) && isValidType(context.aTasks))
      while(context.aTasks.length>0)
      context.resume();
    context = new HuginContext();
      context.reset();
    context.push( goOdinHunter.query, goOdinHunter,
      processHunterResult, null );
      context.resume();
    And try running the output and see if you stilll face the null search result problem
    If this problem is fixed, then you can go to the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 8\RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_stock folder location, and make the similar changes in the whfhost.js file located in this folder.
    It has worked for others so I would first check carefully that you have made the modification correctly.
    If you reverse the change, are you back to square one and get a null result first time?
    The modification was for RoboHelp 8 or 9. You haven't said what version you are using.
    Does it fail with all browsers?

  • Binding for "File Content Repository Path" is returning null value

    I have created a data control for file based content repository based on an existing file system path. *But when this data contol is invoked the command "#{bindings['getURI_returnURI'].inputValue}" is returning null.*+
    Please advice what are possible scenarios. I have performed the following
    #1. Create a file system folder in windows XP named "C:\CPContentRepository" and add some html pages into this folder.
    #2. Create a "content" project in the application.
    #3. Create a "Content Repository Data Control" named "CPFileContentRepository". Repository Type : "File System", Base Path : "C:\CPContentRepository". Test & Registration is successful.
    #4. Add a "panel horizontal" into jsf jsp "ContentTest" page & drap-dop data control "CPFileContentRepository--> getURI(String)--> Return--> URI". select return type as "ADF Output Text".
    #5. Edit Authorization of the "ContentTest" page definition for "View --> anyone".
    #6. Edit Authorization of the "ContentTest" page definition bindings "getURI" for "Invoke --> anyone".
    #7. Run the "ContentTest" page. The output for the page is empty.
    Regards,
    Vikki

    There're two major problems in your code. One you have used different names to get your parameters like in your first jsp they're like
    <input type="text" name="did" size="20" </p>
      <p align="center"> </p>
      <p align="center"><b>Name        </b>
      <input type="text" name="name" size="20"></p>
      <p align="center"> </p>
      <p align="center"><b>Specialist In
      <input type="text" name="specialist" size="20"></b></p>
      <p align="center"> </p>
      <p align="center"><b>Address
      <input type="text" name="address" size="20"></b></p>
      <p align="center"> </p>
      <p align="center"><b>Phone no.
      <input type="text" name="phno" size="20"></b></p>
      <p align="center"> </p>but when you're getting you're doing it like this
    String name = request.getParameter("name");
         String did = request.getString("did");
         String add = request.getParameter("add");
         String specilist = request.getParameter("specilist");
         String phno = request.getParameter("phno");First get them with same name as you have them in your first jsp. another thing in that you're not used form tag in write way... You have created submit button in some other form
    and when you're pressing submit button actully you're submitting only that form value and your form1 is not submitted that's why you're getting null values for
    those parameters you're getting with right name

  • Hide / Remove Content Search Webpart when no results returned

    Hi SharePoint friends
    I'm looking to find a way to hide the whole Content Search webpart (including the webpart title and border area) if there are no results coming back from the query.
    What I tried
    1. There is this property: "ShouldHideControlWhenEmpty" but it doesn't do anything when there are no results. The webpart is still visible. Webpart has a the Title and the Border around it so when
    there are no results the title and the border show up with no results. Like I said I want to hide the whole thing in that case.
    2. Wrote a jQuery script that searches for the text "There are no results" message (which comes from the webpart when there are no results) and hides the webpart. However, there is a short flicker once the page loads because the webpart first gets
    rendered for a split second and then disappears by virtue of my jQuery script - which is not great UI experience.
    3. So I thought I could extend the OOTB ContentBySearchWebPart and get a hold of some kind property that would get me the result count. If the results count is 0 simply I would hide the webpart server side. I looked
    at the documentation online - nothing I could find that I could leverage.
    Help? Thanks!

    Hi,
    To hide the whole Content Search Web Part when there is no result returned, a workaround can be like this:
    In the “Web Part Properties” panel, set checked the “Don't show anything when there are no results”, set the Chrome Type as “None”:
    By doing this, the whole web part will disappear when there is no result returned.
    Thanks

  • Content Search Web Part and Managed Property

    Do I have to have cross-site collection publishing feature turned on for the Content Search Web Part to show a managed property?
    I have a list and a column in that list called Colors. I created a managed property out of the crawled property for Colors column. On a page within the same site-collection, I added a content search web part (displays items from the earlier list) and
    trying to display the managed property for Colors to show up for each of the items. For some reason, Colors value is not being displayed for the items.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks, Peter, appreciated. Here is my problem:
    I created a site column and added it to the list. Added an item that has a value for this site column. System automatically generated a crawled property for the site column and also a managed property. Do I still have to perform step # 5 from above?
    Now when I go into the content search web part and change the query to use this managed property as a refiner, it does not work.
    I will try the debugging as you suggested.
    In the meanwhile, Please let me know if you know of anything wrong I am doing.
    UPDATE: I debugged it using IE Dev. Toolbar and the value for that managed property is being returned as null. What could be going wrong? How can I further troubleshoot this problem?

  • How to combine a content search with an attribute search with the API

    Hi
    I have been working with searches in Content Services using the API and I have successfully set up the search over the contents of a document and inside of the Category attributes of the document.
    My problem comes when I try to combine this 2 kinds of search, that is when I want to find all the documents that cointain the text "test" and at the same time contain other text into their category attributes.
    What I do is to build 2 SearchExpression's one for the content search and the other for the attributes search and then joining them in a third SearchExpression object using the FdkConstants.OPERATOR_AND. When I search using only the first or the second SearchExpression everything works fine. But when I do the search using the third SearchExpression an ORACLE.FDK.ParameterError:ORACLE.FDK.InvalidSearchExpression
    exception id raised.
    The code I'm using is like this:
    private SearchExpression getMainSE(String contentQuery, CategoryInfo catInfo)
         SearchExpression contentSE = null;
         SearchExpression catSE = null;
         SearchExpression mainSE = null;
         if(contentQuery != null)
              contentSE = this.setupSE4Contents(contentQuery);
         if(catInfo != null)
              catSE = this.setupSE4Category(catInfo);
         if(contentSE != null && catSE != null)
              mainSE = new SearchExpression();
              mainSE.setLeftOperand(FdkConstants.OPERATOR_AND);
              mainSE.setLeftOperand(catSE);
              mainSE.setRightOperand(contentSE);
         else
              mainSE = contentSE != null ? contentSE : catSE;
         return mainSE;
    CategoryInfo is one class made by my own that contains the categoryId of the document and a List of the attributes where I want to search. mainSE is the SearchExpression that is returned.The portion of code that appears to be having problems is this:
    if(contentSE != null && catSE != null)
         mainSE = new SearchExpression();
         mainSE.setLeftOperand(FdkConstants.OPERATOR_AND);
         mainSE.setLeftOperand(catSE);
         mainSE.setRightOperand(contentSE);
    And finally I only execute the search using the mainSE returned by the function:
    // Define search options
    NamedValue[] nv = WsUtility.newNamedValueArray(new Object[][] {
         { Options.FOLDER_RESTRICTION,
              folder != null ? new Long(folder.getId()) : null },
         { Options.SEARCH_VERSION_HISTORY, Boolean.TRUE } });
         SearchExpression mainSE = this.getMainSE(contentQuery, catInfo);
         try
              // Search documents
              NamedValue[] result = sem.search(mainSE, nv, null);
              // etc....
    Is this the correct way to combine a content search with an attribute search???
    I know that this is possible since I have seen that it can be done in the Collaboration Suite UI.
    I hope yoy can help me...
    Thanks in advance

    Not sure if this is a typo (while pasting code on the forum) or is the cause of the problem you describe.
    Shouldn't mainSE.setLeftOperand(FdkConstants.AND) be replaced by mainSE.setOperator(FdkConstants.AND) ?

  • Content search problem

    Hi all
    I am having some problems with the content search. Please help me with this:
    In iFS, a new document type "MWORLDTYPE" (sub type of DOCUMENT class) is created. I am using SimpleXmlParser to load xml files and convert them into mworldType documents. After parsing all loaded xml documents are seen as mworldType documents. My task is to do Attribute+content search.
    I used the below code to do content search. Though one of my xml (mworldType) documents contain the text for which I am searching, I am getting zero results.
    Used the below statement to run the file:

    Either run ctxsrv on the database machine or do the following using SQL*Plus (logged in as the ifs schema):

  • Get XML Document Data step always returns NULL

    Hi All,
    I was hoping someone might be able to help with this.
    I'm writing a holiday script, it uses XML to check whether the date is a holiday or halfday. XML below
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <Holidays>
      <Holiday Date="1/1/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="3/1/2012">Halfday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="6/1/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="5/4/2012">Halfday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="6/4/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="8/4/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="9/4/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="30/4/2012">Halfday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="1/5/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="17/5/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="27/5/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="6/6/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="23/6/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="6/4/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="3/11/2012">Halfday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="25/12/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="26/12/2012">Holiday</Holiday>
      <Holiday Date="19/10/2012">Halfday</Holiday>
    </Holidays>
    However when I debug the script the result of the Get XML Document step always returns null.
    Xpath work great in notepad++
    My code is attached, anyone with any pointers?
    Regards,
    Andy

    Your XPATH of:
    "/Holidays/Holiday[@Date='+DateString+']"
    Needs to be:
    "/Holidays/Holiday[@Date='"+DateString+"']"
    Good luck and happy scripting!

  • FindNode returning Null And XML Not Accepting Special Characters

    First of all you have to supply a value you want to search for and this has to be the complete path to the value. You're saying you already tried that, but can you paste the code which you used for that? I don't see the path mentioned in the code you posted.
    *FindNode*
    Syntax
    FindNode(Path)
    Description
    Use the FindNode method to return a reference to an XmlNode.
    The path is specified as the list of tag names, to the node that you want to find, each separated by a slash (/).
    Parameters
    Path
    Specify the tag names up to and including the name of the node that you want returned, starting with a slash and each separated by a slash (/). This is known as the XPath query language.>
    Another option would be this snippet of code:
    &InfoCFDiArray = GetElementsByTagName("ns4:InfoCFDi");
    &InfoCFDiNode = &InfoCFDiArray [1];
    &attValue = &InfoCFDiNode.GetAttributeValue("noCertificadoSAT")
    Warning(&attValue);
    It creates an array of XML Nodes which match the name "ns4:InfoCFDi". Since there's only one in the XML it's safe to assume it will be the one and only node in the array. I've assigned that node to the variable &InfoCFDiNode and use that to retrieve the attribute "noCertificadoSAT" value. The warning message should display the value supplied there.
    Concering the special characters; you will have to change the encoding of the XML. Peoplecode sets this to UTF-8 by default, but doesn't include this in the header. There's a little hack for that somewhere on the web, I'll see if I can find it.

  • HelpSet.findHelpSet() returns null, and trapping ID errors

    I was having a problem initializing JavaHelp. HelpSet.findHelpSet() was returning null. I searched the forum, and found it was a common problem, but the answers were unhelpful. The answers pointed to a problem with CLASSPATH, but offered little in the way of advice for a newbie like myself on how to deal with it.
    A second issue concerns HelpBroker.enableHelpOnButton(). If you feed it a bogus ID, it throws an exception, and there's no way to trap it and fail gracefully. JHUG doesn't provide much in the way of alternatives.
    Now, having done a bit of research and testing, I'm willing to share a cookbook formula for what worked for me.
    I'm working in a project directory that contains MyApp.jar and the Help subdirectory, including Help/Help.hs. My first step is to copy jh.jar to the project directory.
    Next, in the manifest file used to generate MyApp.jar, I add the line:
        Class-Path: jh.jar Help/I'm working with Eclipse, so in Eclipse, I use Project - Properties - Java Build Path - Libraries to add JAR file jh.jar, and Class Folder Tony/Help
    I define the following convenience class:
    public class HelpAction extends AbstractAction
        private static HelpBroker helpBroker = null;
        private String label = null;
        public HelpAction( String name, String label )
            super( name );
            this.label = label;
        public void actionPerformed( ActionEvent event )
            displayHelp( label );
        public static boolean displayHelp( String label )
            if ( helpBroker == null )
                Utils.reportError( "Help package not initialized!" );
                return false;
            try
                helpBroker.setCurrentID( label );
                helpBroker.setDisplayed( true );
                return true;
            catch ( Exception e )
                Utils.reportError( e, "Help for " + label + " not found" );
                return false;
        public static boolean initialize( String hsName )
            URL hsURL = HelpSet.findHelpSet( null, hsName );
            if ( hsURL == null )
                Utils.reportError( "Can't find helpset " + hsName );
                return false;
            try
                HelpSet helpSet = new HelpSet( null, hsURL );
                helpBroker = helpSet.createHelpBroker();
            catch ( HelpSetException e )
                Utils.reportError( e, "Can't open helpset " + hsName );
                return false;
            return true;
    }If you use this class in your own code, you'll want to replace Utils.reportError() with something of your own devising.
    Finally, in my GUI class, I use the following:
        JPanel panel = ...
        JMenu menu = ...
        JToolbar toolbar = ...
        HelpAction.initialize( "Help.hs" )
        Action gsAction = new HelpAction( "Getting Started Guide", "gs.top" );
        menu.add( gsAction );
        JButton helpButton = new HelpAction( "Help", "man.top" );
        toolbar.add( helpButton );
        InputMap imap = panel.getInputMap( JComponent.WHEN_ANCESTOR_OF_FOCUSED_COMPONENT );
        imap.put( KeyStroke.getKeyStroke( "F1" ), "F1help" );
        ActionMap amap = panel.getActionMap();
        amap.put( "F1help", new HelpAction( null, "man.top" ) );

    Sorry, the sixth-from-last line of my example should read,
        JButton helpButton = new JButton( new HelpAction( "Help", "man.top" ) );

  • Get textFrame by label returns null and anchored objects

    I have the following two functions:
    function getByLabel(page, label)
        for(var i=0; i < page.allPageItems.length; i++)
            if( page.allPageItems[i].label == label )
                return page.allPageItems[i];
    and
    Object.prototype.findItems = function(/*obj*/props)
        if( !('everyItem' in this) )
            throw new Error("Error: " + this + " is not a collection.");
        var ret = this.everyItem().getElements(),
            i = ret.length,
            e, p;
        while( i-- && e=ret[i] )
            for( p in props )
                if( (p in e) && e[p]===props[p] ) continue;
                ret.splice(i,1);
        return ret;
    In my page structure, I got one main text frame (the content area) and two vertical text fromes on the sides of the page. There is also a small box textframe on top of the page. All these textboxes EXCEPT the main text frame are ALL "ANCHORED objects". I had to make them anchored objects, eitherwise after importing data, the boxes would jump around. (Example, the small box textframe that is on the top would get moved to the content area textframe etc). Not sure if using anchored objects is the proper way to fix this.
    When I try to get the small box text frame, it does not work using the findItems (returns null) but it works fine with the getByLabel method. Why is that?
    The calling syntax is:
    for( i=0 ; i < doc.pages.length ; ++i )
            var page = doc.pages.item(i);
            var textFrame = getByLabel(page, 'lblSection' ); //This works
            //   var textFrame = page.textFrames.findItems({ label:  'lblSection' })[0]; This does not work, returns null
            if( textFrame != null )
                textFrame.parentStory.contents = "";

    (function () {
        // Per the InDesign Scripting Guide, app.activeScript is only
        // valid when a script is directly executed from InDesign, not
        // from the ESTK, so a try/catch block is recommended to handle
        // it.
        var d;
        try {
            d = app.activeScript.parent.parent.fsName;
        } catch (e) {
            d = Folder.appPackage.parent.fsName+"/Scripts";
            return d;

  • GetDocumentBase returns null in Update 40

    The change to make getCodeBase() and getDocumentBase() return null has broken our FindinSite-CD signed applet which is out in the field on many data CDs and similar, ie running locally.  It doesn't provide any more security as our all-permissions applet can still access the same information (once it knows where it is).  The trouble is, the CD may be run from anywhere so I do not know the absolute path in advance. I have found that I can add code so that JavaScript is used to pass the current URL as a PARAM to the APPLET.  However this should not be necessary.
    Can you provide a better fix that does not break all our existing users who update to Update 25 or 40?
    I would be happy for our applet to have access restricted to its own directory or lower.
    Or for an all-permissions applet, make getCodeBase() and getDocumentBase() return the correct values.
    Please see the second link below for a further discussion.
    Bug ID: JDK-8019177 getdocument base should behave the same as getcodebase for file applets
    Oracle's Java Security Clusterfuck
    PS  There is a separate Firefox 23 issue stopping access to local Java applets - this should be fixed this week in version 24.

    Our company uses the above FindinSite-CD software to provide search functionality on our data CDs and we have done so successfully for many years.  These latest changes in Update 40 have now broken this vital component on our product and will cost us considerably in technical support time and replacing the discs when a fix comes out. Just an end user's perspective!

  • GetConnectionURL returns null in Bluetooth Application

    Hi,
    I am trying to make my first steps with the JSR-82 API on mobile phones
    (Nokia 6680 and Sony Ericsson W800i). I have written a simple program
    (see code below), which is supposed to discover near-by devices, search
    for a given service (UUID) on a chosen (previously discovered) device
    (=server) and then to connect to the server and send a byte (n) to it. The
    server should then in turn send n+1 back. All this should be done using
    RFCOMM.
    The code works fine in the emulator as well as on two Nokia phones and
    on two SE phones. It further works, when using a Nokia phone as the
    server and a SE phone as the client. However, when using a SE as the
    client and a Nokia as the server, the call to getConnectionURL() returns
    null instead of a valid URL that can be used to set up the connection
    (you can find this piece of code in the ClientThread class). Can somebody
    explain me what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Michael
    P.S.:At first I thought it might be a compatibility problem, but in the
    BluetoothDemo program that comes with WTK2.2 the correct URL ist
    returned by getConnectionURL() (have other problems with this example
    though, when it comes to download images, in particular...).

  • SharePoint Foundation 2010 Search returns no results

    Hi,
    SharePoint foundation 2010 Search is not showing any results after configuring the step from the below link.
    http://wiki.sirkit.ca/2011/04/sharepoint-foundation-2010-search-returns-no-results/
    My Server Setup :
    SharePoint Foundation 2010
    SQL Server 2008 r2
    We have created two web application and configured the search service as above mention link.
    And we have migrated a site from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 to one of  web application,we assigned search database to the newly migrated content database.
    Previously there was Form based Authentication was done on Moss 2007 site and on SP 2010 we are working on Windows authentication.
    Database showing crawl is working and showing success results as well in SQL table, Its only Not able to show the results on the page.
    Thanks in Advance
    Dinesh
    Regards, Dinesh Reddy.

    Don't look at the databases, it's a bad habit to get into and will lead to confusion.
    In search administration are you getting any sucsess messages in the crawl history and is the number of items in your index non-zero?
    If so that implies that the crawl process is working and it's the user security that's the issue.
    To confirm try searching for a file whilst logged in as the crawl account, that should return results.

    Hi,
    In the “Property Mappings” of the Content Search Web Part, we can see that the Picture field will only display the value retrieved from “PublishingImage;PictureURL;PictureThumbnailURL”,
    because there is corresponding column in OOTB Document Library holds the valid value of a thumbnail image for a document, that’s why documents from Document Library display no thumbnail image in a Content Search Web part.
    If you want to display thumbnail images for documents of Document Library, you can add a custom Picture column to hold the thumbnail image of a document, set the “Property
    Mappings” to display this custom Picture column.
    By doing this, every time uploading a document to this library, setting a thumbnail image(provided by common users, not generated by SharePoint automatically) for
    that custom Picture column, in the Content Search Web Part, the thumbnail image will display.
    Thanks
