Content Server link in CV01N

Dear All,
I was in the process of configuring content server for an ECC 6.0.
I had installed the content server version 4.6 in a separate system and its working well.
Then i finished all the configurations relating to creation of repository and linking it to content server through CSADMIN.
But when i go to CV01N, its not showing any link checking-in my attached document into CS.
Am i missing anything???
kindly clarify.
Regards,
Samar

Hi Samarpan
We use the term secure storage area to define a storage location that, for security reasons, cannot be accessed using the file manager of the front-end computer. The storage data is displayed in the document info record only in the storage category. The path in the file system and the file name are not displayed. Original files that are stored in a secure storage area can only be processed using the Document Management System.
You can use the storage system as a secure area. The secure area is where data is transported to using the Knowledge Provider. The data transfer is done using the SAP HTTP Content Server interface. This interface ensures that communication with external storage systems only uses industry standards such as HTTP and BAPIs. This can also ensure that your storage system operates correctly in Internet and intranet environments.

  • Content Server not working correctly

    Hello,
I am having problems with my Tandberg Content Server. For several years, we have used the Tandberg Content Server (TCS) in combination with our Tandberg Management Server (TMS) to schedule and record video conferences. I schedule 60 video conferences a week to roughly 20 rooms, using the TMS. Of these, about 14 video conferences per week are recorded.
Originally, I only had one recording alias on the TCS set up, and it worked fine. But I recently added a second recording alias, due to the growing number of requests for recordings of the video conferences. It seemed to go okay.
Now, however, the Content Server isn't working quite right. It will record two different video conferences at the same time, but once it's finished encoding them, the link that you get to send to people is messed up: often (but not always) the link merges two seperate video conferences together in one video. Two one-hour video conferences will be merged together in one two-hour recorded conference.
The problem only occurs with video conferences that occur at the same time. Strangely, if I search the Content Server's F drive, under Data/Media, the recordings are all there, and they are seperate. They are only joined together on the Content Server link.
I have made sure that we are indeed recording on seperate recording aliases.
Because the videos in the Data/Media bin are always labled something like O1110292903-0593923929.wmv, I can use guesswork to reconstruct a valid URL to get a working link, but it's a lot of extra work: I want to be able to log in to the Content Server admin interface and be able to send someone a link in a few minutes.
Any ideas on what's going wrong? I created a trouble ticket with Cisco earlier in the week, but have not heard back from Cisco tech support, so I thought I'd open it to the Cisco community.

HI Ron.  Good morning.  Since our webex the last time, I do believe we can use participant templates in the mean time until we find out whats going on when using TMS this way.  When using the recording drop down and all the systems aren't registered to Gatekeeper seems to be the trigger here, but to get you running, this is what I propose we try and do here.
You may have to purge the Content Server out of TMS so TMS doesn't "know" about the IP address of the Content Server.
You will have to examine your routing and preferred MCU in routing here, and make the two changes:
Administrative Tools>Configuration>Conference Settings.  All the way at the bottom you will see:
I had to change this to Always and Preferred MCU type in routing to MPS.  This is logical since this is the only MCU you have and you need the MCU in each booking (from my understanding of what you said during the webex).
    So:
    1) Jot down all the conferences that have the Content Server involved, and remove the recording from each conference.
    2) Purge the Content Server from TMS.
    3) Add participant template with just the IP address of the content server: Booking>Participant Templates and build one like shown below.  The number field should be the address of the content server and IP zone should be IP zone for your system.
Go ahead and save the template.
Make booking with this template and another endpoint (don't add the MPS since it should automatically).  Check the connection settings and the MPS should be call the IP of the TCS and the other endpoint.
    Click Save conference.
If the conference saves ok, build another with a different room and same template again, and click save conference.
The caveat is that when calling the IP of the TCS, the TCS will use what you have configured as the default recording template under Configuration>Site Settings
Just choose which one you want to use all the time if you can.
The way it shows on the TCS is:

  • DMS link with content server

    Hi All,
Plz let me know that how the DIR is getting path of content server where it needs to get saved.
Means i want to know that where we have to put the path of Content server into the system(SPRO) .I found some place to put the same in "Define Data Carrier" but still i am not getting that how the DIR if finding that particular path..how it is linked as we put only Storege category during CV01N not datacarrier anywhere.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
Content servers are used to save large quantities of documents, either within SAP Media on the SAP database, or in an external system via an SAP-certified interface. The Document Modeling Workbench in SAP Media is structured so that one document class (for example, a physical storage place) is available for each business object. A content server therefore contains one memory space for every business object. In SAP Media Systems, documents are stored in the SAP Media database or on an external content server.
Using Content Server with database storage gives you a very stable, secure and fast environment. You can store documents in R/3 as well, but that is really only a good solution for few documents.
Additional information is available in the SAP Library under SAP R/3 and R/3 Enterprise ® SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.70 ® SAP SAP NetWeaver Components ® SAP Web Application Server ® Basis Services/Communication Interface (BC-SRV) ® ArchiveLink (BC-SRV-ARL) and Knowledge  Provider (BC-SRV-KPR).
You can also check the document available on KPro

KPro is mainly used to store and retrive content from Content Server.

  • Link SAP DMS to Content Server

    Hi all,
Im user in SDN community, i saw you responding some question about SAP DMS, i have the following scenario :
1.- I use SAP DMS in this moment and attach files from the server file.
2.- Actually i have KM in the company, here have many document for common use to the company. for instance quality control specification documents.
I need link SAP DMS to KM (Content Server), How can i attach files content in km to SAP DMS from transactions CV01N and CV02N. What´s customizing activitys i need apply?
    Best Regards,
    Jhonny Mogollón
    Consultor SAP
    Infogesa

    Hi Jhonny,
in the standard of transaction CV01N or CV02N you see the original area at the bottom tab ‘Document Data’ or you can navigate directly to tab ‘Originals’. Both times you find the same small icons. To add an original you can use whether the ‘CREATE’(white sheet) or ‘OPEN’ button. If you choose CREATE a pop-up window appears where you can enter all original related data (workstation application, description, …). In the path field you can enter the path to the original manually or you can browse for it using the F4 help.  Since you select the correct file on your PC or Server please press OK and the path will be entered in the pop-up field automatically.
After you entered all this data and confirm you will return to the CV01N or CV02N screen and see that the original file is added. However the displayed lock sign is still open which means that the original is not checked in at the moment. Please use the small green CHECKIN icon and select a suitable storage category on the next screen. After confirming your selection and saving the document the original is checked in correctly.
Regarding the customizing I would kindly ask you to check the following settings:
    1. Storage category:
Please check if a storage category is maintained in your system. I would recommend you to use the Content Server (KPRO) storage type. Therefore please go to transaction DC10 and choose the
relevant document type. Display its details and you will find a flag called ‘Use KPRO’. Please flag it to use the KPRO storage type which is recommended by SAP. You can manage your storage categories and KPRO settings by transaction CSADMIN.
    2. Workstation Application:
To store originals in DMS it is necessary to have some workstation applications defined in transaction DC30. These applications are necessary to handle originals correctly. Please maintain a workstation application for each file format to avoid problems in the future. For all further information please see the blue information button in transaction DC30.
    Best regards,

  • Attachment link is not visible- external content server

    Hi All,
I have integrated an external content server to SAP
    i have done following activities:
    1) I have maintained content repository using Tcode OAC0
    2) I have Maintained Global Doc Type (ZFININV  Finance Invoice scan doc document class: TIF) using Tcode OAC2
    3) i have maintained Link for Doc type ZFININV and assigned Object type: BKPF    using tcode OAC3
    4) I have  all My documents  scaned and residing there on my content server . So i have manually created entry for these documents in Table TOA01 .
    5) I have maintained protocol using tcode OAA3
          Function : Display Stored Document
         Doc Class: FAX
          communication type : HTTP
In application Maintenance i have used internet explorer as an application.
    7) In tcode OAG4 : i have maintained settings for storage and display.
    8) Now i can search document using Tcode OAAD. i can display document in my content server viewer
Now my customer wants that while doing business transaction , customer should be able to attach link of supporting document   which is already residing there on my content server.
Say for example: I display a Finance document using tcode FB03. While doing maintenance of this document ,from the same screen , i want to attach supporting document (or link of the document) which is already archived there in my content server
but when i click on attachment list (using  GOS) , i can not see any link which i can attach to this transaction
please suggest me .. whether i forgot any step Or is there any other way to do this requirement?
    thanks
    sandeep sharma

    Dear all,
as naveen replied in this thread:
Alteratively, in FB03, try using Environment -> Additional Assignments to see if it meets your requirements. You will have to explore a bit and do some trial and error tests for the solution as this is a particular requirement which you have got.
This is standard functionality provided by sap
Storing Incoming Document->Manual storing-> Assigning a Document that is Already Stored:
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/4f/99386b446d11d189700000e8322d00/frameset.htm
For this additional assignment, the time at which the business object was created does not matter. It is also possible to assign other archived documents to existing business objects. An archived document is assigned using the function module ARCHIV_APPEND_DIALOG_META.
This additional assignment fulfils my requirement . but i cant see this option for other transaction (say for example ME51n or MM01 ) for which  i can do this additional object assignment.
Is it possible to add this additional assignment  option in another business transactions context menu? or anyother work around to fulfill this requirement...
    thanks

  • Linking a CRM case to a document in an external Content server - CRM 6.0

    Hi,
We are creating a case from a scanned document, the document is stored in a separate content server. Now we need to link the created case to the scanned document in the content server. We need to be able to access the document/image from within the create case using WebClient
    Kind Regards

    Pradeep,
Yes my users are over a 10 state area geographically, with u201Cpotentialu201D handheld access to the documents that would be attached to functional locations and equipments using the CV0*N access.  They would have no need to u201Ccheckout/checkinu201D documents in the field, but would need view access or print access from their field device via a work order wrote against the equipment or F.L. to which the documents would be attached.  I envision a separate small group of users that would actually u201Cmanageu201D the documents themselves such as u201Ccheck out/update/check back inu201D to the separate server location where the file(s) are located.
I understand in principle (I think) the DMS storage, but again, if I select u201Ckprou201D (currently unselected for my document type) you make the following comments: u201C2. 'kPro Storage' option (may store in SAP DB,HTTP Content Server), herein you can store 'n' originals/documents and 'n' additional files, AND
HTTP content server  You may either use the SAP Content Server or an external/third-party content server.Typically, content server is opted for when operating in a distributed environment(users accessing from several locations)/index based search is needed/n:n mapping scenario exists.
    Logical repository
This storage type allows access to different physical repositories, independently of the client and the system ID.u201D
So based on these comments, are you saying I should select u201CKprou201D for my particular document type and that I should define the external server as either an u201CHTTP content serveru201D or either a u201Clogical repositoryu201D?  If yes, then as I commented in my 1st ask, please advise how u201CI should use for "Maintaining the Storage System" since based on the selection of "Storage Type" whether HTTP content server or Structure Storage System, or Logical repository decides how the rest of your screen looks for further selection.u201D  Thanks in advance.

  • Content Server / Content Repository / Archive Link and co.

    Hi,
i have installed a content server on an external Windows 2003 Server Plattform using MAXDB. The Server is now running and working properly. The test of the content repositories were positive too. Now im a bit confused about all the actions which are required to make a content rep known to SAP System via Archive Link. Is it correct to start the content server service in the SCIF transaction? Do i need to perform the Archive Link Workflow and Costumizing wizard. Which tables have to be altered?
I would  be very greatful if anyone could tell me the steps which need to be done in order to succeed.
    Thanks in advance Christian

    Hi,
Is it correct to start the content server service in the SCIF transaction?
    Not required
the actions which are required to make a content rep known to SAP System via Archive Link.
Create a content repository  in OAC0 using document area Archivelink and storage type HTTP Content Server.
To use full functionality of  Archlink, other set of Archivelink configurations required one of them e.g.OAC3 to use this repository to be used by business objects.

  • Hide links on Content Server User Interface.

    Hi all,
I need to hide certain entries from the content Server UI. For eg: The Web Form Editor link under Content
Management tab. Can anybody help me on how to go about it ?I don't want to delete the nodes ..just hide them.
Also is it possible to hide entries based on the user logged in ? Kindly help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nithya

Yes - I think it could be the definition of "hiding" and "deleting" ... :)
You want to remove the node from the structure in order to hide it. You can write an include to do this, and even use logic to determine whether to remove it or not, at the time the include is rendered.
For instance, I was asked to hide "Web Sites" from the UCM menu for any user without the 'admin' role on a server instance. This was accomplished by locating the proper 'include' to hook in to. Then, my code runs and for users without 'admin' privileges, removes the "Web Sites" menu item - keeping most users from being able to browse web sites from the UCM interface.
If you really wanted to make it 'configurable', you could add a preference variable that you can change "on the fly", without restarting the content server service. Then, you could hide/show that node in the menu by changing the pref prompt. In your include, you simply look for your preference variable value and remove the node if the variable is enabled/true, etc.
Something like this maybe ... from memory - so be warned:
    <@dynamichtml custom_finish_layout_init@>
    <$include super.custom_finish_layout_init$>
         if (navBuilder)
         if(!userIsAdmin)
         navBuilder.deleteItem("YOUR_NODE_ITEM_HERE");
    <@end@>

  • Using a single Content server for DMS and also for Archive link documents

    Hi,
We have Planned for a single content server for managing the documents in DMS, parallelly as DMS Standard SAP objects are not available for all SAP transactions, i have proposed for making use of SAP Archivelink funtionality to maintain the documentations where Std SAP DMS does not provide a Solution.
    so here the question is
can a single content server be used as a content repository for Both DMS and archivelink,
can any one having done this pls state if it is possible to create different or Many Content repositories for DMS, Archive link in the same server,
is this a virtual creation or can we assign each repository a specific storage space which it should not exceed.
    Thanks and regards
    Sathish

    Hi sathish,
-- Through the ArchiveLink docuemnt Management interface, an SAP sytem can use various content servers as storage media. similarly, one contnent server can be used by multiple SAP systems.
-- A Content server always has a single database assigned to it. A database can therefore be used by only one content server.
-- A databse is split into as many repositories as necessary. The design of the repository is mapped in the SAP system.A repository contains documents.
Depending on your requirements,(if u have limited documents or with low requirements)  you can use the same content server for both DMS and Archivelink.
The number of documents stored on the content server is limited only by the size of the database.
Its better to have an external content server for archiving purpose, if your database size is increasing. Since the archiving systems storage is not dependent on the database.
U can also refer to the below thread :
How to Archive SAP DMS Data?
    hope this helps....

  • Link attached document to content server  ( CS )

    Hi,
does any one know how to store order attachement documents into SAP Content Server?
    Thanks.

If you want to store documents in a content server. Then ofcourse you first need to instal it.
This is what you need to do:
Follow this official SAP installation guide to instal your content server (if you don`t already have it.)
You can click this link below:
    Official SAP DMS installation guide
    After this installation go to:
CSADMIN - Here you create a content repository. Connect it to your installed content server.
OAC0 - Here you specify the repository. It is a DMS system.
OACT - Create a Storage Category (same settings) and connected it to your content repository.
S_ALR_87008832 - Create a frontend system (for example PC or some random info, it doesn`t matter)
S_ALR_87008829 - Add the applications you want to use by which extensions. Like ".doc" open with word. (Select how to open, etc. with "%AUTO%")
S_ALR_87008971 - Now create a profile ID. You will now use your previously created frontend system, the applications you have entered, connect it to your storage category and you will give acces to a user or a group of users.
Final step: S_ALR_87008831 Create a document type. (DIR = Document Information Record). Here you connect the document to any type of object you want. You can also connect it to an order or anything you wish..
    Good luck and enjoy,
    Best regards,
    Jan Daniël
ps. If this doesn`t work. You might need to update your SDOKPROP table.
You can do this manually or by the following official SAP note: sapnote_0001400866

  • Content Server web sites link issue

    Hi all,
MY version is 10R3 and i restored the venna Hosting Tutorial web site yesterday. when the site restored 100% ,i click the website links at web site tray and home page appears .
But today the pages can not show by clicking the tray.
    Anyone knows why?
    Regards,
    Jiahua

That error means that the content being imported has values for metadata that do not exist in your content server. You would need to add those values to your content server for the import to complete properly. It might require some digging to find out what those values are. You'll need to get into the archive, find the metadata for the file in question, and figure out what the metadata value is for the Website Object Type field (normally something like Image, Data File, Script, etc.), and ensure that value exists in the list of values for that metadata field on your server.

  • Email link to document in Content Server from SDV

    Experts,
We would like to email links to documents stored on our Content Server while viewing them in the SAP Document Viewer.  These documents are ArchiveLinks to invoices.  When we use the 'Send object with note' button in SDV, the email sent contains a text file which has information about the invoice, not the document we are viewing.  Does anyone know if what we are try to do is possible?
    - Andrew

    Hello Andrew,
You can right-click in open space to the right of the bottom row of icons to change the icons. Next select MORE TOOLS. In the File Toolbar, check the box for Email and this should solve the problem. Why SAP did not default this checkbox I will never know.
