Content Server - Publish to Directory Feature

Is there anyway to automatically publish content items to a folder in the Knowledge Directory in addition to the publishing target within Content Server? I see that you can rclick on individual "articles" and publish them to the KD. We just want that to happen automatically whenever an item is published.

The "reference" Content Item would use a Data Entry Template that had an item reference property, and a Presentation Template which just used the Insert tag on that item property, e.g. <pcs:insert expr="My_Item"></pcs:insert>.
Then you could create "reference" Content items that refered that item you want published multiple times, placing those "reference" Content items in a folder with a different publishing target. Thus when that "reference" item is published, it will effectively publish the item to which it refers to a different location. You could also employ the Related Item Publishing feature contained in the Data Entry Template in order to automate this somewhat, so that when one item is published the other is published automatically as well.
But this is all a bit of a hack and awkward. If you need to rely on identical published content existing in multiple places in a production setting, I still recommend using a file replication utility.

  • Copy any kind of file from content server to network directory

    Helli All
    The question:
I nee to copy any kind of file from content server to any network directory.
    Explanation
    1. transaction CV02N
    2. There is attached file for a document in tab "Document data/Original"
    3. This file stored in content server
    4. I wrote program code that creates path of the stored file that finally looks like
    http://cont:8888/ContentServer.dll?get&Version=.....*...&compid=app1.doc
where app1.doc is file's name and I have to copy this file into network directory.
The problem is that this URL open the file instead of just pointing to him
so that no function or method can't see this file and as the result I got message that
    the file doesn\t exist.
    Please, advice.

many many thanks for ur help. i really did not check the URLClassLoader properly.
but i would like to hear a little more from u. i have another question. here in this code (provided earlier), i searched for attribute values in the manifest file, then again i load the required class file from the very url. is it not good to retrieve the whole jar file first, and then check attribute values inside manifest file and load the required class files from that jar file that is already downloaded without going to that url again? how can i do this?

  • Content Server Publishing Target paths do not match

In Content Server 5.0.2, I need to change the publishing target information from a local mapped drive to an FTP site hosted by a third party. After entering all the information and I click "Test Publish Target", I get the following error:
"The site specified by the Browser Path does not match the Transfer Path location."
The transfer path looks something like this:
    ftp://upload.thirdparty.com/12345/target_folder/
and the browser path like this:
    http://download.server.com/target_folder/
Can someone tell me why I get this error? Is it because upload.thirdparty.com and download.server.com aren't the same (they are, in fact, different machines)? I don't think it's the "12345" folder that's causing this problem because I also specified it in the browser path and I got the same error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Jose

Just to follow up and in case anyone is interested, I was able to publish to my new destination folder in spite of receiving this error.
I assumed that I couldn't publish to the new destination because I was getting this error, but that's clearly not the case. I guess this "Path" check is there as a tool to help, but it doesn't necessarily apply to all configurations.

  • RFC Content Server and  ITS

    Hello,
could you advise me if it is possible an RFC Content Server to be used with ITS for the archive instead of HTTP Content Server?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

You should be able to edit the gateway space URL of the Content Server Published Content Web Service to include the published content location of where it is.
Alternately, you can set the published content targer and file transfer method for the server (or any other content server section) by right-clicking on the top-level node (or the individual folder) in the Content Server Explorer, and selecting "Publishing Target..." and setting the appropriate values in the resulting dialog box.

  • Content server and Images

Hi... we've found some odd behaviour with content server and I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experience.
Our installation is spread accross a number of servers, we have a front end portal/image server with Content Server installed on one of the servers behind the firewall.
When we create branding portlets (and content canvas portlets), it all works happily. The html template is created in the ptcs/publishedContent on the Content Server machine and images appear in the correct template folder on the Image Server machine and everything displays correctly on the portal page.
Problem is, for any other content portlets (eg: announcement), the images end up in the ptcs/publishedContent on the Content Server machine as well ... which isn't good as this location is not accessible from the browser - the published html gets rendered correctly but no images appear.
We don't want to manually transfer images from the Content Server to the Image Server and hack the generated ptcs html.... from what I can tell, all the properties set for the Image server are correct so we've hit a brick wall in terms of figuring out why it's behaving this way, our expectation was that the content portlets would operate in the same way as the branding portelts but this doesn;t seem to be the case.
    thanks in advance

  • ORA-00955 when upgrading from Content Server 5.0.2 to Publisher?

I am upgrading Content Server 5.0.2 to Publisher.
After running the sw installation and having imported the publisher.pte file, I am starting the Publisher and receiving an Oracle error "ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object". From the messages logged, it looks like the error is encountered when recreating the object PCSACTIVE.PK_PCSACTIVE (first SQL statement with "Recreating ...", all others before where "Adding ...".
    My questions:
    1. has somebody else encounteered the same error?
    2. does anybody know how to trap the SQL being executed? As the upgrade is done automatically by the Publisher when starting, I have found so far no way of checking the SQL or knowing which SQL statements are executed against the DB) when "Recreating" an object.
Thanks in advance for your help.
P.S. Customer Support has also been contacted, but it looks like noone else has reported this kind of problems.

Pl post OS details - are you using DBUA to upgrade ? Are there any errors in the database alert log ?

  • XI Content Server directory

    hi,
I am doing a EDI scenario using Itemfields Conversion agent(Content master). It is a FILE-XI-R/3 scenario. I have done the necessary configurations in the Conversion agent. I need to deploy this in the "XI Content Server directory"
Can anyone tell me where do i find the path of the "XI Content Server directory"...?

    Hi mithun,
Import the ESR content by first copying the export files provided into an import directory on the host of the Enterprise Services Builder and then importing the files into the Enterprise Services Repository. In the following steps, <systemDir> denotes the path for the system directory of the host (generally, <systemDir> corresponds to \usr\sap\<SAPSID>\SYS\global).

  • Publisher Content to the Knowledge Directory

    Hello,
I want to publish a single portlets published content to the knowledge directory. Let's call the portlet 'Policy Info'
So I created a publisher crawler. Unfortunately, it would not let me drill down to the exact portlet. I only gave me a choice at the root level of all the portlets. (I don't want all publisher portlet content item to show up in the KD).
I tried to create a filter that would grab only info from that specific portlet. But the filter does not have a property to specify the portlet name. I can create a filter on each content item, but that means adding or deleting a filter every change.
Any ideas how to get the published content from 1 specific folder into the KD?
    Thanks,

    Vivek,
It should allow you to do so. You can drill down to the exact portlet folder and configure that folder in the Publisher Crawler.
Note: All root level folders are Hyperlinks, when displayed while creating a publisher crawler. Click on the root folder and navigate to your portlet folder.

  • Use Powershell to deactivate Feature SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure

Hi - we have activated Feature SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure on a site collection and now we have lost access that site - So is there a way I can use PowerShell to deactivate the feature?
    Thanks
    J

    Hi J,
I'm not getting "we have lost access that site", Site administrator and System Account always have access to the site unless there is some error coming on the site which is not letting user to login in the browser.
If you are getting access denied error then powershell script also throw the same error. So, for running powershell script you must have access to site.

As the error says.  The Publishing Infrastructure feature must be activated at the Site Collection level where you are creating a new site PRIOR to turning on the Publishing feature.  So if you are trying to use this site definition to create a
new Site Collection then its not going to work.  If you are trying to create a sub site then make sure that Publishing Infrastructure is enabled in the site collection before trying to create a sub site with this site definition.
Internally Microsoft does this for the Publishing Portals using custom code.  Here's an article that discusses how to do it in SharePoint 2010.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg615465(v=office.14).aspx
Compare what's in the article to one of the Publishing templates available out of the box in 2013 and you should be able to find the assembly that is used to load the Publishing features.

  • Which user data or customization is associated with Sharepoint Server Publishing feature

    Hi
I want to deactivate/activate sharepoint server publishing feature but there's a warning message which says:
Any user data or customizations associated with this feature might be lost
How could I know specifically which user data will be lost after deactivating this feature?
Please note that this is "Sharepoint Server Publishing" and not "Sharepoint Server Publishing Infrastructure".  The feature I want to deactivate is a site level feature and not a site collection level feature.
    Any clues may be helpfull

If you deactivate the Publishing Infrastructure at the site collection then any items in your Pages lists may not survive.
    http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/87031/what-user-data-or-customizations-will-i-lose-if-i-deactivate-and-reactivate-a-si
Generally speaking you need to check dependencies of other Features to this Feature, but also to ensure that existing functionality do not depend on any artifacts this feature could deploy (Web parts, physical files, controls, etc.).
To check if other features depend on this one you could do this by looking up the GUID of the feature in a physical folder and everywhere it appears check the FeatureDependencies element.
To identify what this feature does you would look into the Feature.xml and Elements.xml to see what artifacts it deploys, e.g. stuff deployed via Modules must be removed manually, any custom controls, web-parts, which might depend on the actual assembly
deployed by the feature will also crash.
Also, to my knowledge the SSRS site collection feature is part of the actual Enterprise features which are usually pushed-down from Central Admin when using the "Activate/Deactivate Enterprise Features on existing sites" - any farm admin would be able to
    re-activate it again.

    Hi,
How did you customize the site initially? Was that in SharePoint designer? And if so what part of it did you exactly customize? The page itself or the masterpage?

The installation wen successfully with no errors. however when we run a test by calling the URL http://<server>:<port>/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo URL, instead of getting a response, we are getting a save as file dialog to save the dll file.   Also, after the installation, even with the install website tick checked, the website was not installed. we had to do the installation of the website manually for the port.

The website should get created if all the roles in IIS 7.0 are installed. Therefore, please try to install the IIS 7.0 by selecting
all the roles followed by installation of the SAP Content Server. By doing so, websites should be created automatically.
In the IIS 7.0, all the roles are not selected during the installation by default. Please make sure all the below roles are included and IIS 7.0 is installed, as per the installation manual for the Content Server on Windows 2008:

I have done the required changes in the confd of the webserver, Content server is accessible from the webpage. I am also able to login as sysadmin.
    Not sure wats going wrong.
    Thanks

You can sometimes get issues on the file system with file locking occurring and so UCM can not clear up/move the schema files properly.
It may not be this but...There should me a metalink note about this deleting schema directories.
