Context object in Receiver Determination

Hi,
I am trying to use context object in receiver determination for routing messages to different receivers. From help document , I know that certain context objects are already present. Can we create our own context object in ESR and how?
I am using PI7.1
Thanks,
Neelansha

Hi Neelansha,
You can create a context object for only a request message(source), i.e, if you have a very deep nested structure then
you can use context objects which contains the XPath expression of your request message.
Can we create our own context object in ESR and how
For steps to  create- go to  context object - create new-->select type (int,string..)-
go to your   source Service  interface-click on context obj tab-select the element to which you want to assign the context obj  name
refer activities mentioned in this help link

/people/prasadbabu.nemalikanti3/blog/2006/09/20/receiver-determination-based-on-the-payload-of-input-dataextended-xpathcontext-object
please note that you have to choose interface pattern as  Stateless (XI 3.0 Compatible) ,otherwise you will not be able to see the context object in Receiver determination editor.
I found the  standard  context objects  very useful and i think we can  sometimes avoid using the dynamic configuration
i have used the file name  context object  in  expression editor in receiver determination to create a condition for routing the messages to two different Business services.

  • Regarding using context object in Receiver determination.

    Hi All,
I want to  implement a scenario where with following requirnment .
i have one sender and multiple receivers.
i have to retrive some feild value and based on the its value i have to route the message in receiver determination step by writing the condition.
for this i have a source structure , from that i read one feild , based on that feild i do lookup.(the value of destination which i am getting is at intermidiate stage not in request message)
If i define Xpath or context object it shows the request message in the contion editor , but i dnt  have the destination in request message.
is there any way i can  assign the Xpath for the intermidiate MT which i have created to store the destination value.
Please dont give me the link which point to help.sap page ..i have gone through it and it says that request msg only can be assigned context object.
    Thanks

    Hi,
In your case Enhanced receiver determination will work.A typical usage case is if you do not yet know the names of the receivers at configuration time. In this case, you can define a mapping program, for example, which reads a list of receivers from a table or from the payload of the message at runtime.
    For configuration check the link

  • Dynamic Configuration of custom Context Objects: is it possible?

    Guys,
is it possible to use Dynamic Configuration for custom Context Objects as we normally do to technical context objects?
Also, is it possible to use a context object in receiver determination, even if it is not assigned to a message interface?
My case: I need to use condition at receiver determination but I dont want to read a field from payload. Instead, I want to write that context object with dynamic configuration and use it at receiver determination runtime.
I want to do this in order to avoid having to extend the payload's message type because of this extra field for condition (actually, its not that I dont want to, its that I cant. The message type is defined by 3rd party and cant be changed). If it is possible to keep that information at header instead of payload, it'd be great.
Kind regards and thanks in advance,
    Henrique.

  • Receiver determination step - Send context

    Hi Experts,
I have understood from SAP library and others threads that send context in the receiver determination step is used to send value for the conditions we have added in ther receiver determination and fetch only receivers those satisfy the cretiria.
Please validate whether my understand is right or not?
If its correct, then my question is can we populate this value dyanmically, say field value from another message.
    Please clarify.

  • How does Receiver Determination Step in BPM work?

    Hi,
I'm still in trouble with the Receiver determination step in the BPM...
Normally, when you use the send step, it sends the message in the flow context. Am I right, when I suppose, that when you put the receiver determination step before this send step, the send step sends the message in the context of the receiver determination - that means: if in the Integration Directory, there is receiver determination (with some conditions) and these are matched with the message in the send step, the send step sends it into the receiver, that is defined for the condition and not in the flow context... Right?
Please, write me just your experiences and not links to the documentation. I read it all, but... :O(
    Thanx 4 your help, Peter

    Hi Peter,
The receiver determination step is used to get a list of receivers for a subsequent send step.It makes a call to the receiver determination you configured in the Integration Directory and returns the receiver list.
Here you specify the send context and the multiline container element for the receiver list.
The send context is a string. The send context can have any string value and depending upon the condition in recvr determination you can route to multiple receivers.

  • Dynamic receiver determination for synchron interface

    Hello everybody,
I want to use dynamic receiver determination for a synchron scenario.
The problem is, that the interface 'ReceiverDetermination' (http://sap.com/xi/XI/System SAP BASIS 7.00) is a asynchron interface.
This leads to an error when activating the Interface-Mapping (synch source Interface -> asynch destination Interface ReceiverDetermination)
Is there a way to use the dynamic receiver determination for synchron interface?
    Thanks a lot,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
I guess your scenario is not possible ASIS, since XI doesn't support 1:n for sync interfaces (and even if your mapping condition reduces it to 1:1, actually it is still 1:n, since your receiver list is unbounded).
Theoretically, you could make it work with BPM, though.
But I've never worked with a Receiver Determination Step reading from an enhanced receiver determination in ID (though there should be no problems).
Use sync async bridge, then use receiver determination step to obtain the receiver from an enhanced Receiver Determination. Pay attention that this enhanced receiver determination is a dummy one, using a mapping from your async abstract interface to the ReceiverDetermination interface. Once your mapping has determined the receiver, the enhanced receiver determination will return that receiver to the Receiver Determination step in the BPM. Then use this receiver in the sync send step (in mode receiver from receiver list, not from context).
The receiver determination of the actual sync send step may be a standard one, with the several receivers there (even if there are several there, at the moment of the sending, only one will be used).
Maybe it will work, maybe not.
    Just try it.
    Regards,
    Henrique.

  • What is context objects and how we can use it Receiver Determination

    hi,
i have situation here a idoc is triggered into the xi and i need to use the conditions in the receiverdetermination in that condition i need to use  context object how i can use it? and what is the difference it makes and why i need to use it?

    HI,
Context objects are alternative to XPATH expressions. It is like macros in other programming langugage. If you define this , you can use this object in the receiver determination while doing conditional receiver determination

  • Context Object for IDOC in Receiver Determination

    hi,
I am trying to filter the receivers based on the vendor values in IDOC ORDERS using Context Object.
I don't see the vendor field where i could filter the value.
    Any ideas would be greatful.
    Thanks,

    hi,
Conditional Receiver determaintion is possible only on the Source Message. the reason being that the integration engine will first execute receiver determiantion--> interface determiantion --> message mapping.
If you are getting the IDOC as a source, then you can use the XPATH to do conditional receiver determination.

  • Context object not visible in configuration (for receiver determination)

    Hi,

  • Context object in xpath under reciver determination

    hi all.
    iam new to xi.
i just want to know what is the need of context object in xpath under reciever determination.
i tried a lot for understanding this context object but no way.
    can any body expalin briefly.
    waiting for ur great answer.
    bye.
    regards.
    seeta ram.

    suppose say you have a particular field in an xml and the xpath for the same is;
root/seg1/seg2/seg3/seg4/seg5/seg6/seg7/seg8/field, so instead of always using the whole xpath you can store it as a context object. It is like a variable say fieldcontextobject = root/seg1/seg2/seg3/seg4/seg5/seg6/seg7/seg8/field and in further development u can just ref. fieldcontextobject instead of the whole xml !!!!

  • Receiver determination using substring in filename in file adapter

    Hi
In PI 7.11 I would like to determine the receiver based on a substring in the filename in a file receiver adapter. I am planning on using a context object but am having trouble entering the correct code in the "Right Operand" field.
I have tried selecting Context Object = Filename http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File and entering this code in the Right Operand: "contains(substring('_4000_'))"   and an "=" in the as I am looking for a filename, that contains the substring "_4000_".
I would like to avoid using an extra map and using Dynamic Configuration, as I thing this would be the most elegant way of fixing it
Is there a way of referencing the context object if I chose xpath in stead of context object?
    MIkael

    Hi Mikael,
I have the same scenario like you , could you please tell me about the condition how to you use XPath for Context Object
I need to check the file name and according to that I have to put the file in the different directory.
    Source File: XXXX_IN_xxxx
                       XXXX_PH_xxxx
I have to check the 7th and 8th Char of the file and according to that I have to place the file in the folder
    Target: DGE008\IN\Inbound
                DGE008PH\Inbound
I don't know how to used the XPATH for file and specially how to use the substring in that.
    Could you please help.
    Thanks,

  • File name based routing in Receiver determination

    Hi experts,
I have a requirement to do receiver determination based on file names which are dynamic. To put it clearely, i will be having two files in my source File location and i need to route it based on the file name to two target systems.
The file name are like Month(changes everymonth)_TargetSys1 and month_targetSys2.
I dont need any conversions ,so i am not using any IR objects.
To pick files i kept *.txt in sender channel, and in receiver determination  condition i was trying to use context object called 'Filename'.But it doesnt work asthe file name changes every month.
Is there any option to take substring from the input file name (say targetSys2 from month_targetSys2.) and put it as a condition for receiver determination.
There is not DT or structure of the incoming file , as there are no modification to be done with the content.
    Regards,
    Anika

you need to have the structure in case you want to route it via the xpath.
Else another option is to code the enhanced receiver determination and using a java mapping with dynamic configuration read the filename and then dynamically create the receiver determination.

  • Container operation step in BPM using context object

    Hi all,
in my BPM I have a send step using the file adapter. The file adapter builds a dynamic filename.
Now I want to have the filename back into an acknowledgement. First, I need it in the container, right?
So after the send step, I have a container operation step as follows:
    target: simple string
mode: assign or append, doesn't matter
expression: In expression editor, I select Interface variable 'message', then context object 'FileName' from namespace http://sap.com/xi/XISystem/File
This should be the filename from the fileadapter, right?
    In SXI_Cache, I get return code 99:
The Value of Expression '&MESSAGE.FILENAME&' Cannot Serve As the Source of an Assignment
Why is there a context object, if you can' t use it??

As far as I know, the filename in the Dynamic Header will be lost in when the message enters the BPM.
As a work around, make a mapping at the Interface Determination level that reads the filename from the SOAP header and sets it into the payload which can be accessed inside the BPM.
Reason the way I see this that the BPM does not store the filename is ,
    1. What if you have multiple receive steps in the BPM with a fork.
    2. How would the context object know which filename you want to read?
The reason you see this in the context object is because all Context Objects are the info you get from the Adapter metadata.

    Bhavesh
