Continual alert to restart

Hi guys, I've never encountered this problem before - at least on such a continual basis.
So using a 600 mhz G3 grahite, 10.4.11 or what ever is on the harddrive - I was changing over to a different harddrive - when I replaced it with another used HD, I thought I'd check it out with disk utility - but that process actually stopped mid-stream; so I re-initialised the thing, stuck an OSX vs 1 in to reinstall software - that process also stopped halfway with an error warning - 'can't continue installation' - so I put in another HD - got the screen running fine, nice and blue, initialising, then the black 'restart' box/transparent notice came up, and up and up and up - replaced that HD with a third HD - hit the cpu button - once!!! - and still got the 'restart warning - and when I tried to restart via the OSX CD - on each of the replaced HD's - I got black writing running down the screen, a few moments after the CD startup screen appeared.
Okay - I did add a 128 stick of mem to the 512 already there - but both sticks had shown up 'ok' on the first replacement, before I thought I'd use disk utility to repair the very first HD replacement, as it had been acting a bit clunky at times. and there have been no memory problem chimes anyway.
I have noticed that a tremendous amount of heating up happens, especially on the HD carry case and the HD itself - abnormally high - so that is a bit of a worry.
This is one of my best 'puters - so I'd really like to try fixing before I think about ditching it.
It just don't sound like a HD thing here - and I've checked the cables each time to see if I connected them correctly.
Any clues - testimonies?????

  • Continuous alerts for on call service people

    Hello,
Does anyone know of any app, feature, and/or similar, that would allow for a continuous alert to be set off on the iPhone for someone that was an on call service person?
For example, if an email was received (relating to a service emergency) it would set an alert (kind of like an alarm) every 5 minutes until it was dismissed. Another words, for issues where one needs to be woken up from a sleep and/or similar.
In case I am not describing it well/right, this is part of what is offered (and works very well) by http://www.webmessenger.com/products/ma.htm... but, from what can see, it is not available for the iPhone.
    Anxiously awaiting any assistance/help.
    Thank you!!!!!!

Perhaps the system could continue to pump emails or SMS to the iPhone until you replied to the message?

I had this problem too. Jeff, your post led me to the answer, but it had nothing to do with my OS. For anyone else having this issue, you need to put your ipod in "disk mode" by holding the center button and play/pause before you can restore it using your ipod updater in the utilities folder. • Windows 7 Install wont continue after first restart in Install process

    Hi,
I am trying to install Windows 7 Build 7000 on my computer. But it does
not seem to want to continue install after the first restart during the Install Process.
    Here is what I did:
I put in the dvd, and boot my computer from the DVD. I set the DVD to
be the only boot device in the BIOS. The installer starts. I go through
all the steps needed for install. It comes to the first restart, and
the computer restarts. After a lot of waiting, the computer brings up
the first step to the install. Where it shows the "Install Now" Button.
(The install basically starts from step One again).
Not sure what I did wrong through all this. My computer Specs are AMD
6400 2.20Ghz, 2 Gigs of Ram, Clean 40 Gig IDE Hard drive, on Different
IDE channel then the DVD Drive (Not sure if that is important). Linksys
Wireless Add in Card, BFG Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT. (From what I know, my computer meets all the requirements)
So if someone could help me get Windows 7 up and running, that would be great!
    Thanks in advance,
    Musick Man
    EDIT:
I forgot to say that I tried to install Windows 7 off a virtual drive
from within XP before I tried to install from a CD, but that didnt seem to work after the first restart
also. It did put the windows boot loader on my computer, but didnt
finish the Windows 7 Install. I have a feeling that it tried to
over-right my Windows XP install, because the boot loader only comes up
when my XP drive is plugged in. When I tried installing 7 with the CD,
I had my XP drive unplugged. So if 7 tried to install on my XP drive,
how can I get the files off it, that I dont want on it anymore, and
install Windows 7 on my other drive, in a XP and 7 Duel-boot.

    Hi Musick_Man:
If you want to install Win7 in a dual-boot with your XP O.S. you should leave the XP drive connected while installing Win7.  If you just added the IDE hard drive you want to install Win7 on you need to make sure that that drive is jumpered as Master on the back and that the DVD drive is jumpered as Slave if they are on the same cable.  The other option is to jumper both drives as "cable select" and make sure that the hard drive is on the topmost connector on the cable. If the DVD drive and the 40 GB hard drive are on separate cables they should each be jumpered as "Master" and use the top connection on each cable.  You didn't mention if your XP drive is an IDE drive or not.....if it is on the same cable with the drive you intend to install Win7 on, you need to jumper one as master and one as slave or jumper both to "cable select".  Hopefully your bios is already set to IDE/Native Mode already because if it is set to Sata mode for use with XP you might have problems dual booting with XP if you change the bios setting since XP is already installed.  If both hard drives show up in your boot order list in the bios,  that's ok......just make sure that the DVD drive is the first drive in the boot order so that you can install Win7 by booting from the DVD.
If you are currently able to boot into XP,  you shouldn't have any problems with the existing XP O.S.  If you are having problems even booting into XP you might have to do a repair of the XP operating system by booting from the XP cd and selecting "Repair start-up" when the XP CD loads.
Your hardware looks like it should work fine with Win7 and Win7 should automatically load all the necessary drivers during installation and when done each time you boot up your PC you will get a screen offering you the choice of which operating system you want to boot up (usually right after the bios screen).  You will have 30 seconds to pick which O.S. you want to play with!
In XP you will be able to "see" the win7 partition;  but,  in Win7 you won't be able to "see" the XP O.S. (you can assign a drive letter to the XP partition in Win7, but it's safer to leave it "out of sight).  Both O.S. will show up as "C" in when you boot them up.  Good luck...........you'll love Win7!

  • BPM: How to Raise Alert and Restart together ?

The requirement is like this.My Integration Process receives a message, performs a 1:N split and undergoes further processing using Transformation steps. I want to ensure the following in case any one of the Transfofrmation fails(Because of some coding error in the step):
    1. Raise an Alert
    2. Should be able to restart the Process again from the
failed step once the Transformation code is fixed.
    3. To raise an Alert for any file adapter level errors,
and to restart the processing of the message once the
       file adpter error is resolved
I have tried the following approaches, but it does not help me achieve all of the above condition.
I have put the Transformation step in a Block and introduced an exception branch with one control step which raises an Alert.
Issue: This will raise an alert when the step fails, but it ends the BPM with a Processed status and hence I will not be able to restart the BPM.
So I put another Control step immediately following the Alert step which raises an exception. However I have not handled this exception. Hence when a step fails, I am able to raise an alert as well as the BPM gets errored out.
Issue : However, now when I restart the process in swf_xi_swpr, The process restarts with the Control step which was used to throw exception. It does not restart with the Failed mapping step.
To raise Alerts for Adpter level errors which might occur before the message comes to BPM, I have defined alert category and rule in runtime workbench. However, the Alerts are not triggered when the file adapter fails.
Please share any ideas on how to achieve all the 3
    requirements together.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Joachim!
I was facing a very similar problem in my BPM modelling.
Is there really no other chance than to loop (and maybe wait some time) over the critical (e.g. networking down, ...) parts of the BPM to have some active notification via alerts AND a possibility for retry?
In my opinion this would a very inflexible way of doing error-handling stuff - if so - is it about to change in the upcoming releases?
Currently I guess I can have:
    a) either ALERTING (by catching exception and raise alert)
    OR
    b) convenient retry mechansisms via "SWF_XI_SWPR" (by not catching exceptions at all and let the relevant block become "errorenous") ...
    Any other suggestions ...?
    Many Thanks,
    Andy

  • [TP x120e] Continuous "Configuration changed - Restart the system." error

I played with my bios (disabled/enabled mic, webcam, LAN and so), but after exiting the bios, Thinkpad x120e  reboots continuously with the error message "Configuration changed - Restart the system.". I was not able to boot from any USB/HDD and also I can not enter to the BIOS. Hard bios reset won't help. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Have you tried unplugging all power, including the internal CMOS/RTC backup battery, from the ThinkPad X120e, leading the unit alone for a few minutes to let any capacitors holding a residual electic charge drain, holding down the power button for 30 seconds to complete the operation, then plugging in the AC charger without either of the batteries installed, then holding down the F1 key while pressing the power button to see if that gets you into the BIOS settings?

  • Continuing alerts for iCal Events after canceling

    Hello everyone,
I suspect what I'm about to describe is a bug, but hopefully I'm wrong and there is a setting for this. For any iCal Events I have, which are typically listed as all day events, I get continual reminder notifications even after CANCELLING.  Anyone seeing this?  Is there a way to stop it or do you think this is a bug.
FYI, I do have calendar turned on for iCloud, but not reminders.  This happens on both my Macbook Pro and my iMac.

OK...I've found the culprit and an easy workaround.  First, Desktop Manager for Mac is the problem.  If you set any event alert reminders in iCal to "Message and Sound" you'll get both the message and the sound on your Mac, but Desktop Manager for Mac mangles this somehow when the event is synched to the BB.  The event makes it over, but when the event is selected on the BB and opened, the alert is set to "None".
To fix this, simply change all event alert reminders in iCal to "Message" (without the sound) and re-sync using Desktop Manager now the events on your BB have the same alert parameters as in iCal and their alerts now popup when scheduled and they have an audible sound.
Come on, RIM...Mac users deserve better than this.  It took you 12 years to get us a real (well almost real) Desktop Manager, so now give it the same features as you provide in the Windows Desktop Manager.  But since I know nothing in this forum ever makes it to RIM...we'll have to hope they figure this out on their own.

  • VersaMail - Attempting to delete a message causes Palm TX to restart. - Now, it is continuously cycling through restart

I often would get emails that, when attempting to delete them, would cause the Palm TX to restart.  Two days ago, I downloaded the new Palm Desktop version, and later, when I tried to delete a mail message from Versamail, it sent the device into a continuous restart loop.  It is now sitting on my desk restarting about every 10 seconds.  I've pushed the 'reset' button on the back, but that is what its doing on its own and the button just starts it over again.  I let the battery run down and recharged it last night, but, it started the loop again as soon as I took it off the charger.  I'd open it up and pull the battery out, but am affraid it would just start looping again when I put it back.  I'd sure like to use it...

Computer has been running fine for the last 3 years (it has bootcamp running Windows).
Have not had a problem before with crashes. Was using it all day today, then a grey colour came down my screen and a message told me to +restart my computer. hold down the restart key.+
I did this and the computer restarted with an errorlog that i could send to apple - i did this and it worked fine for 10 minutes, then the same thing happened.
I kept restarting and sending the errorlogs to apple - and the crashes have kept happening. I have notcied that my Entourage application is now also unexpectadly closing down.
Now after about the 10th restart it just will not start at all - it comes up wiht a black screen and the error log appears on that.

If anyone knows a solution I would be most grateful - I need ot get this sorted asap.

Try following this procedure to reset SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543
which is basically disconnecting all cables and power, and reconnecting following a precise procedure. If you are connecting into a crowded or old power strip (surge suppressor), try connecting it directly to the wall outlet, at least initially (as a test). Power it up with nothing connected, except for the power cord. If that works properly, connect just your keyboard/mouse and use it that way for a while, to make sure it continues to work properly.
If the same issue occurs, even with nothing connected, you'll have to look at other causes.
To see if it might be software, insert your Mac OS X installation disc and restart with C key held down to start up from the optical drive. Does it get to the Installer screen without crashing? If so, it may indicate some problem with your currently installed system.
If it still crashes, one thing you can try is removing your RAM modules and reinserting them into their slots. While you are looking at the bottom edge of the iMac, wipe off the dust on the air intake vents; I added some RAM recently, and I was amazed at how much dust there was on those vents, blocking airflow.
