Continuing in timeline after FLV plays

I want to play an .flv in the timeline, then continue to play
the timeline after the video has finished. How is this done? I've
tried to understand cue points (I get the basic idea), but how do I
utilize them in ActionScript?

Getting closer. I have an .fla file with an alpha FLV video
with an instance name of "bobFLV". It has one cuepoint embedded
called "midpoint". I also have a movie clip behind it with an
instance name of "pics_mc". In it is a label called "pic2" that I
want it to go to and play when the cuepoint is reached.
I play the swf and the FLV plays, but the pics_mc does not
advance.
Here is the code I currently have in place:
bobFLV.addEventListener ( "cuePoint", this );
function cuePoint ( eventObj:Object ) {
if (eventObj.name == "midpoint")
pics_mc.gotoAndPlay("pic2");

  • 15 second timeline won't play

    Hello,
    I'm making a DVD with four videos, each on their own timeline.
    I had to add a 15 second message at the beginning of one video, so I figured the easiest way would be to make a slideshow with an end action of the video's timeline. It plays fine in the preview, but after burning a disc, I get an error from my dvd player.
    I thought there might be a bug with the slideshow creator, so I made a 15 second clip in Premiere instead. Still plays fine in the preview, but the same error shows up on the player.
    Any ideas? Is there a minimum timeline duration for set top players to be happy?
    Thanks in advance!
    Encore CS3

    Older Sony players can be quite fussy. Maybe you are already doing this, but these general recommendations for optimizing player compatibility may help:
    Use a
    maximum bit rate of no more than 7Mb/s.
    Let Encore convert the audio to Dolby Digital (AC3).
    Use good quality DVD-R media, e.g. Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden.
    Keep your burner's firmware up-to-date.
    Burn at the lowest speed your burner allows. (With modern burners that is usually 4x.)
    Never use adhesive labels on your discs.
    On the off-chance that you were testing with a DVD-R that had nothing but the 15 second intro on it: It seems that since version 3 Encore doesn't "fill" short DVD-Rs up to the 1GB mark anymore. Some players need to have at least 1GB burned on a DVD-R (to perform a calibration check). If they find only empty space they assume an unreadable disc.
    A possible workaround is to add 1GB of dummy data as "DVD-ROM Content" to your project.

  • There are diagonal stripes on some clips on the timeline and wont play video in the program monitor.

    After reconnecting some origianl files after a hard drive crashed, there are diagonal stripes on some clips on the timeline that wont play video in the program monitor. They do however play in the source monitor.

    Those stripes are most likely the missing media indicators, which means you've relinked to the wrong clips.

  • Timeline won't play video but scrubs fine CS4

    I don't know what I did, but the timeline won't play the video now in CS4, only the audio.  It scrubs ok.
    I cleaned the cache. I tried the loop button, opening another saved project, and starting a new one.
    Priemiere Elements works ok.  I'm not sure what I did, nor what else to try to resolve this..
    Anyone familiar with this and know the solution?

  • Timeline won't play video, only audio

    I just switched computers recently (windows 7 to Windows 7) and when I re-installed Premiere CS5.5 on my new computer the video in the timeline wouldn't play.
    The timeline video box just shows a media offline graphic even after all the media was reconnected.
    When I press play, the playhead moves, but it will only play the audio and only shows the media offline graphic for the video. I tested a few of the clips to see if they'd play in the source monitor, and all of them played fine. It's just the timeline video window that won't play.
    It started working yesterday for some reason I don't know, but when I reopened the program it was back to the same problem.
    I've looked at a ton of posts, but none of them seem to have this same problem.

         There are 2 main types of video in the project I'm editing: h.264 (MOV) from a Canon T3i DSLR, and MPEG-2 from an HDV Camcorder.  None of the videos will play video in the timeline monitor, but the playhead moves and the audio plays (the video just shows a media offline graphic, although all the media is connected).  All videos will play in the source monitor regardless of codec. This leads me to believe that codec issues are not the problem.
    Graphics Card:  NVIDIA Geforce GT 620
    Graphics Driver Version: 9.18.13.3788
         I have updated to the latest nvidia driver in the past week. There was another thread similar to my problem (http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/205/874787) where the guy figured out it was because he had 2 graphics cards, and that his timeline monitor was running off the wrong one. However, his description of what he did to fix it was not very clear, or at least not for my amount of knowledge.
    There was another thread where someone said  to downgrade to an older driver, and that didn't work either. here's a
    screenshot of what it looks like when I play a video in the timeline:

  • Anyone having problems with art/animation/audio disappearing from the timeline after a save?

    Hello,
    I'm having problems with many files losing their assets from the timeline after a save and reopening the file in Mac OS X Snow Leopard. This is happens quite often now and there seems to be no pattern to it. For example, I will open an existing Flash animation complete with sound and artwork, make changes to the animation timing, test the SWF and everything looks good, then save. After reopening the exact same file, there will be audio that was on the timeline will be an empty frame. In addition, there is art work that was swapped out or updated to a character and the symbols becomes empty after reopening. I'm losing days and hours of work and I can't seem to find any answers or help to figure out what's going on.
    Any insight would be appreciated!
    thanks!

    I now use CS5.5 but I've noticed it on every version since CS4.
    I JUST ran the latest update to 11.5.1.349
    I'll let you know if it continues but for now I'm planning to learn a new software. Finally have some time to focus on this and if it works out I may say so long to Flash. I'll give CS6 a try but if it's not SIGNIFICANTLY improved (Brush tool comparable to ToonBoom, No losing data, Better Playback, Ability to export HTML5), it's just not worth it anymore. I've been using Flash since version 1 and since Adobe took it over, I hate to say that anything other than actionscript has gone WAY downhill. Many new features but they don't actually work well, or crash at runtime if used beyond a tutorial's level intensity. What's the point of all that functionality if it looks like garbage and can't perform on a professional level? Even if you do take the extra time to work slowly or limited to make it look nice - it loses the data! or now without HTML5 your venues of use are sliced in half? Pointless. I don't want to trash all my Flash experience, but I'm done defending an inferior product and waiting for it to catch up to a modern professional standard. I think my Flash days may be over very soon unfortunately. I feel like the're more interested in defending what they've created, than in making it work or even asking us what we want. I feel like a Girlfriend who's Man keeps promising to get steady work but hasn't after 10 years. Flash...we need to talk.

  • Embedded FLV plays slow

    I've got a couple of FLVs that I've embedded in my Flash
    movie. I've embedded them rather than having them stream because
    I'm essentially using them as RollOver effects so I need them to
    play INSTANTLY when you rollover something. Anyway... The issue is
    that they play fine when I preview my SWF in Flash, but once the
    SWF is embedded in a webpage and I view that page in IE or Firefox
    (I'm on WinXP) the FLVs play a little bit slower than they should.
    It's a slight slo-mo effect that I don't want! Is this a known
    issue? Should I just try to stream them off of the server rather
    than embed them? I assume there would be a lag and the FLVs
    wouldn't start playing instantly when I tell them to.
    Any input would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks a lot,
    Erik

    Solution...
    For whatever reason, SWFs don't play as fast in browsers.
    Period. This is probably old news to most of you. And I, too, have
    read this for years. This is just the first time that it's really
    caused any sort of issue. I created a FPS testing module that gives
    an on-screen display of the actual FPS of the SWF and then after
    250 frames gives you the average FPS for those 250 frames. The SWF
    is set to play at 50fps. When I test in Flash, I get just under
    48fps for the actual frame rate. When I preview in an HTML doc in
    Firefox, I get around 40-42fps. In IE7, 32-33fps. This is on a
    WinXP machine with an Athlon XP 2500+ cpu. The thing is, it's not
    even stressing the CPU when I do this test. The browsers just won't
    "let 'er fly"!
    Check out the SWF at:
    http://www.erikphansen.com/fps_test.htm
    Please let me know what you score and what system you are
    running it on!
    (Now that I have a few tabs open in Firefox, it's running a
    couple FPS slower, but my CPU still isn't showing much activity).
    Thanks a lot,
    Erik

    Two ways to fix this: If you are used to the Terminal app, you download the license recovery package and following instructions carefully, you use the python script in the package.  Error "Licensing has stopped working"  | Mac OS
    If for some reason it doesn't, reinstall CS4 from your discs, or download the CS4 installer here.

  • How to close a video after it plays

    Hey people,
    Say you have a video intro that you would like to have dissapear after it plays. Use this code. (place in trigger event)
    var vid = sym.$("bird_holder");
    vid.html('<video width="1022" height="575" id="bird" src="video/Intro_Animation.mp4" controls="controls" type="video/mp4" </video>');
    $(document).ready(function(){
           $("#bird").bind('ended', function(){
           sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("intro_animation").deleteSymbol();
    A couple things to address:
    1) My video is housed in a symbol called "intro_animation" which contains the holder for the video. (called "bird_holder" in my example)
    2) If your video is on the main stage, just use sym.getSymbol("holder_name").deleteSymbol(); at the end of your function.
    3) be sure to include id="" in your video tag. and make sure your ready function is referencing that id.
    Hope this helps someone.

    When I export photos to IPhoto slideshow they crop more and more after each play. Is this common?

    No. In fact, I've never heard of it before.
    It might help if you could give us some details. What do you mean by "export photos to iPhoto Slideshow"? DO you mean you're adding photos to a slideshow in iPhoto? Or hat you created a slideshow in iPhoto and exported that to the Finder?

    An OLD INACTIVE email address, asking for a password, continues to show up to play certain selections in my iTunes Music Library.  I want to REMOVE this old email address, HOW DO I REMOVE IT!!  All attempts to remove it have failed!

    Yes, if you change your Apple ID to your new email address. You don't have to. Under those sort of situations you can speak to Apple about transferring your purchased items to the new Apple ID, and see if they will help you.
    You don't lose access to your older purchased items, you simply cannot update or re-download them or, in some cases, use them without providing the old Apple ID and password. All purchased items are permanently tied to the Apple ID used at time of purchase.

  • Stopping tracks after each play

    I broadcast athletic events and I'm using iTunes to play clips from ID's, to interviews and highlights. Is there any way in iTunes to get each item to stop after each play....so that it wont automatically go onto the next track?
    Thanks!
    Scott

    Also, if you type in the title of the track at the top where it says "search," as long as there's nothing with too similar of a title, it will show only that one track that you typed in, and it will stop when it's over. It's almost like making a temporary playlist of the items containing only your search terms. That's what I do because I have far too many tracks to check/uncheck them each time I want/don't want one to play.

  • How to continue the workflow after a block?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to make continue the workflow after a block. The CompleteActivity procedure doesn't give an error, but the workflow doesn't continue.
    Anybody a good idea?

    CompleteActivity is the correct API, see the Workflow Guide for details,
    procedure CompleteActivity
    (itemtype in varchar2,
    itemkey in varchar2,
    activity in varchar2,
    result_code in varchar2);
    where:
    itemtype A valid item type.
    itemkey A string generated from the application object's primary key. The string uniquely identifies the item within an item type. The item type and key together identify the process.
    activity The name of the activity node that is completed. Provide the activity node's label name. If the activity node label name does not uniquely identify the subprocess you can precede the label name with the internal name of its parent process. For example, <parent_process_internal_name>:<label_name>. This activity node must be marked as a 'Start' activity.
    result_code An optional activity completion result. Possible values are determined by the process activity's Result Type, or one of the engine standard results. See: AbortProcess.
