I am a newby to the mac. I experienced many crashes with Word for the Mac with a VBA program in Word.
I don't believe these crashes are an error in Microsoft but are due to a bug in the Mac.
Of all those numerous crashes I kept the log file as generated by the Word, similar to that here above.
I noticed that all those crashes occur on or around the same time.
I know, the following sounds weird, but give it a chance.
Your crash was on 19 minutes past an hour.
I had 3 crashes on 19 minutes past an hour.
Here is my list of crash time. I think this is at least remarquable.
Well, perhaps someone knows something about maths and can calculate whether this is just a coincidence.

After installing Mavericks, I get this same error box for each of the MS Office 2008 apps. "Microsoft [word,excel/etc] has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I've tried to open in a test user account and same thing happens. Any ideas? I don't really want to splurge for a new version. Thanks.
Have you installed all of the available updaters for Office 2008? In each of the apps use the Help ➙ Check for Updates menu option.
Then be sure to run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions. -

Yes, it works fine when logged into another user account. That's a relief, although not for my Accounts department : )

After decades, I finally gave up on Microsoft and bought a MacBook Pro. However, for work, I still have to use Microsoft. When I try to edit a Word Document in any way a screen pops up saying Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close; gives me an option to recover my work and restart Word; when I click that option Word restarts but I alway lose my work. This just started; before it was working fine. Help?

Are you certain about that? There are many alternatives to Office today. Consider
LibreOffice (donation-supported)
NeoOffice ($10 but older version is free)
OpenOffice (completely free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). All of these options allow you to open, edit, and save Word-formatted documents and spreadsheets. I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft. -

Today i installed Microsoft Office 2016 preview for my Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Word, Excel and Powerpoint applications are working without any problem. However, Outlook getting crashed and throws an alert message as "microsoft outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close.", it's happens always, when i launch outlook. please suggest me, how can i comet from this issue.

Word 2011 for Mac, Word has encountered a problem and needs to close
When I open word a lot of previously closed word documents open. Flashing up about twenty different documents before I can open a new document. Also when I try to close them Word shut down, 'Stating Word has encountered a problem and needs to close".

First you should know that this is not a Mac forum. It is for PC IT types. How's that acronym jargon? It doesn't help much with clear communication does it? :-) (Windows Information Technology Professionals... not end users). The correct forum for you is

With that said, I'm bilingual in PC and Mac environments so I will try to help. Try this:
In Apple's System Preferences>General make sure this checkbox is marked:
Quit Word completely... remember quitting is not closing on a Mac. You must "Quit" the application.
Hold down the Shift Key and then start Word. Keep holding the Shift key until Word fully opens. Once it is open if any of those old documents appear in the Recovery task pane, now close them.
Quit Word and if prompted about reopening any documents, respond No.

After installing reader 9, Internet Explorer gives the message: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." everytime I close an internet window. If I remove reader 9, the problem no longer occurs. Reinstalling reader 9 causes the problem to return. I got rid of reader 8.1.4 because it was not working properly. Any suggestions about this issue?

Firefox was working well. One day I logged on to use Firefox and was prompted to update my version which I did. After or during the update the following message was given on the screen "firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close". This pop up: iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.
my itunes worked before but i downloaded it in the wrong user and that user got deleted, now when i install it and it installs and i go to run it and it says iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. so i uninstall i TUNES and iPOD and install it again but it still has the same error. HELP ME. so i goto more infomation and this comes up

windows xp Windows XP ProHe's right. Make sure you follow ALL the instructions for uninstalling.
I think the problem is actually related to a Quicktime error, and not iTunes, but it relies on Quicktime.
One of these two things fixed this same problem for me:
-Deleting the Quicktime files in the System32 folder (mentioned in the uninstalling instructions).
-Installing Quicktime by itself FIRST, then installing iTunes
I think the Quicktime files in the System32 folder were the culprit, though. -
