Controlling PDF control through javascript

I am using below code to embed my pdf in html page.
<iframe SRC="test.pdf#navpanes=0&scrollbar=0" style="z-index=1;position:relative;" width="800" height="600"></iframe>

You would need to loop over all the words in all the pages of both
documents to compare them.  This can be done using the getPageNthWord
method of the Document object.
It's even possible to compare the words' locations, but that is more
complex.

  • How to control PDF plugin from Javascript?

    I need to embed a PDF viewer into a webpage displayed on a special infokiosk withou a keyboard and a mouse. The infokiosk will have just five control button (four arrows and an OK button), which will map to corresponding keys on keyboard. It will be running a simple Linux system and Firefox browser as GUI.
    This is exactly what I need to accomplish:
    http://pdftools.atwebpages.com/embedPDF.html
    However, it works only in Internet Explorer. I need this very functionality in Firefox on Linux. I have not been able to come accross any documentation telling me, how to do it. On the other hand I have found:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/interapplication.html
    which mentions Windows and Macintosh, but does not mention Linux at all. Does this mena that I will not be able to control PDF viewer with Javascript under Firefox/Linux?

  • Convert web page to PDF automatically through JavaScript

    We have ASP.NET application and Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard installed in each users machine where users are able to convert our ASP.NET site pages into PDF document (by right click on web page and select "Convert to Adobe PDF).
    we are looking the direct method of how to trigger “Convert to Adobe PDF” event automatically through JavaScript on the browser (IE 6.0).
    Any suggestions and helps are greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Bill,
    Thanks again for the reply.  I am using the Convert Web Page to PDF selection on the Adobe toolbar which is available in IE.  I printed the page from File >> Print and it looks good except no links.  It is also printed in a Portrait style page layout.
    Sample:
    When I used the Convert Web Page to PDF from the Adobe toolbar, it looks like it is attempting to 'print' it in a landscape mode and that may be where the problem is.
    Sample:
    These are the same report.  However, I can't find a preference to tell it to convert in a Portrait mode instead of landscape.  Any clues on how to force it to always convert Portrait?
    Thanks again,

  • Controlling PDF settings

    Hi All,
      I tried reading through all the PDF-related posts and didn't see anything that would answer this, so I apologize if I overlooked something.
      I'm a new .NET developer, my company is using VS 2008, and this is for a ASP.Net web app.  Upon clicking a button we are creating a Crystal Report in the background that automatically opens up as a PDF file.  Is there a way to manipulate the PDF settings through the Crystal Report?  Specifically, I need to make sure the Page Scaling/Print to Fitable Area option is turned off programatically.
    Thanks for any help you can give,
    --JimmyG.

    You can not control any pdf specific items using the CR.NET SDK except for creating bookmarks from the group tree, setting the first and last page or using a page range.
    You would need to use the Adobe Pdf API's to alter anything on the exported pdf.

    I want to make a slideshow to view on my television with image's duration ranging from seconds to an hour or more and I want to use my iPhone or iPad mini to control the television through my Apple tv.
    I've been unable to locate an app that will do this.  The Photos app that comes with the phone or iPad has extremely limited duration controls.  PhotoStream seems to load everything from my phone or iPad not allowing me to just load up a set group of images.
    iPhoto for iPad is getting some terrible recent reviews.  I tried a couple other free apps but they don't use Airplay.
    I can do something like this with iPhoto and my MB Air, but it's kind of ugly to have the computer open in order to connect by Airplay to my Apple TV.  I've thought the iPad or iPhone would be a lower profile controller.
    Am I out of luck?

    Thanks for your help.  Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV.  I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air.  Thanks again.

  • I am looking to control a 4-way hydraulic solenoid valve. Do I need a PID control toolset, or can i control the system through my 16E4 daq card and scxi chasis

    I am looking to control a 4-way hydraulic solenoid valve. Do I need a PID control toolset, or can i control the system through my 16E4 daq card and scxi chasis

    I think you're asking 2 different questions.
    The PID control toolset is for using PID loops for control; it's just software.
    The DAQ card and scxi chassis are hardware. If you have the appropriate signal conditioning cards in your chassis to control/monitor your solenoid valve, then you can run a PID loop.
    I believe the simple answer is: the PID control toolset is the best way to do control, but there are simple PID VI's (even on this website) that you can download and use for simple control.

  • Pdf control in Safari 3.0.4

    Hi, guys
    I am using Leopard 10.5.2 and Safari 3.0.4.
    For some reason, the pdf control in Safari specifically download button is not working.
    I haven't installed acrobat reader. Everytime i need to dowload pdf files, i should open them in preview and use save as...
    any help?
    thanks in advance.

    Normally whenever you enter a username and password into a site on Safari it automatically prompts to save the login details. If you need to set Safari up to save username and password info go to Safari-Preferences-Autofill-And then select the 'Usernames and passwords' checkbox.
    If you want to see what passwords have already been saved by Safari then go to Safari-Preferences-Autofill and then select the 'Edit...' box.
    Ahh! Just realised that you're using an earlier version of Safari. Hope there isn't too much difference between my version and yours!

  • Can I control an Applet via JavaScript?????????????

    Please Guys! Can I control an applet via JavaScript?
    How????????????
    Thanks
    Renato

    Great to see you back, bbritta! Problems with the
    reauthentication stuff?The reauthentication was just another annoyance. I was getting fed up with answering posts for a variety of reasons (mostly because I don't have the patience you seem to have).
    I got assigned to modify some old ColdFusion code. I thought it would be a nice change of pace having never done it before. Yick... Gak... I should have started over with JSP's, but the user insisted they wanted the old code modified. I have never seen so much cut and paste coding in my life. They actually got hold of the old developer and he was so proud of his code that I didn't have the heart to tell him what I thought of his efforts.
    Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, I ran into a problem with an applet I wrote about a year ago and wanted to search the bug database. I reauthenticated fairly easily, but found out nothing had changed.
    A couple of days ago, there was a post in advanced topics asking if the forums were any use. I saw Dana respond and I thought it might be a chance to discuss some of the problems I saw with the forum. I came back to see if there was any response, but it looks like there will never be any meaningful discussion between Sun & the members about the forums.
    I have tried for a couple of years to just post a link to a search page if the answer could be easily found by searching. It seemed like a better thing to do than just saying 'Do a search!' I'm not sure anybody gets it though.

    My iPad screen is extremely damaged, I need to wipe iPad clean but can't see the screen. Can I control iPad settings through my pc/iTunes?

    You can try an alternative.
    This is the quickest thing that came to mind, but if you want to wipe it with no care of the data on the device at all:
    Place device in recovery mode (turn off device > hold home button + plug in to iTunes (WHILE HOLDING BUTTON)).
    iTunes will give you an error saying it detected a device in recovery mode, you need to restore to use device. Restoring device is a factory reset. AKA a wipe of the device

  • Printing a PDF via Acrobat Javascript

    Hi -
    I have a need to print a PDF programmatically, via Javascript.  The PDF is embedded in a Web page.  I use postMessage to communicate with the PDF.
    I've created a simple HTML page with an embedded PDF, and a Javascript link to call my "Print" function. Here's a code snippet:
    <body>
             <a href="javascript:doPrint();">Print</a>
             <object id="PDFObj" data="testPDF.pdf" type="application/pdf" width="400" height="400" />
    </body>
    In the HTML document's HEAD, I've added the following Javascript which posts the message to the PDF:
    <script language="JavaScript">
            function doPrint() {
                pdfObject = document.getElementById("PDFObj");
                alert("Hello from Javascript...");
                pdfObject.postMessage(["Print", "Print"]);
    </script>
    Finally, I've added an Acrobat Javascript function in the PDF document to listen for the postMessage event:
    function myOnMessage(aMessage)
        app.alert("Hello from the PDF");
           // print routines here
    var msgHandlerObject = new Object();
    msgHandlerObject.onMessage = myOnMessage;
    msgHandlerObject.onError = myOnError;
    msgHandlerObject.onDisclose = myOnDisclose;
    function myOnDisclose(cURL,cDocumentURL)
    return true;
    function myOnError(error, aMessage)
    app.alert(error);
    this.hostContainer.messageHandler = msgHandlerObject;
    Here's my problem: when I test this code and click the HREF Javascript link, I see "Hello from Javascript..." and "Hello from the PDF," so I know the postMessage event is working.  However, I've tried every print command I know in the myOnMessage function, and nothing seems to work:
    app.execMenuItem("Print"); // doesn't seem to work
    this.print(); // doesn't seem to work, even when I pass in all the params, etc
    I've also tried getting print params and passing those in, nothing seems to work.  Am I missing something?  Environement is Acrobat 9 Pro, browser's tested include Chrome 2.0, IE6.  I've attached two files, the HTML bit and the PDF I'm trying to print.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

    You have to be careful when using the ActiveX control to communicate with system functions like printing.  Because it can be embedded in anything that supports ActiveX, some functionality is limited from being called from JavaScript as it may interfere with the host application.
    Check out the IAC API Reference (also included with the SDK) and the methods under AxAcroPDFLib.AxAcroPDF.  There are some print functions in there (like PrintAll) that you can call on the ActiveX control directly, as in from your doPrint() method in your HTML page without using the hostContainer.  You would basically just call:
    pdfObject = document.getElementById("PDFObj");
    pdfObject.PrintAll();
    These methods were designed specifically to work with the ActiveX control when embedded in a host application, and can be used to print a PDF embedded in a web page.
