Controlling Print Size

This may seem like a really stupid basic question--but, when printing from the Mac, shouldn't there be SOME way to control the size of the final image, be it picture or text, on the paper? I can find "Print Preview" to look at it, but can't find ANY setting, ANYwhere to change it--it just prints a thing whatever size it happens to come up! Thanks for any guidance!

Cornelia,
Also...
You can change the print sizes of images in iPhoto's print dialogue box.
You can modify type sizes if they're too large...launch TextEdit, for example, then press cmd+tab to bring up the Fonts menu, where you can modify the font size, etc. You can also scale the fonts using the Format option in the TextEdit Menubar.

  • Controlling print sizes

I routinely print from iPhoto 09 (ver 8.1) 4 pictures per page on my Epson.
I want the pictures as large as possible, but NOT cropped.
I chose a print size of 3x5 in order to get 4 per page.
When I control click on a photo in the print window, I am able to eliminate cropping.
    There are just two problems:
    1) This is laborious, since I have to do it 4 times for each of many pages; and
    2) I would like to reduce the white space and enlarge the prints.
Can anyone solve one or both of these problems?
(Oh, and this was not a problem with previous versions of iPhoto.)
    Thanks!

I have not seen any documentation on this - unless someone else has experimented with this and posts you will have to do it by expermentation

  • How do you control print size?

What is the procedure for  enlargeing font size on the printer?

    Hey lhotch!
Are you trying to change the font size on the front panel of the printer or the font size of things printed out? To my knowledge there is no way to change the font size on the printer's screen itself, however to change the font size on a printout you would simply enlarge the font before you print it.
Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions!

my problem is i had installed a printer and it is set for

  • Controlling Font Size in Preview

Is there a way to increase font size in Preview before printing? The default is too small for me, and I don't see where to control font size.
    Thanks.

Yes, you'd have to load them, (HTMLs), into another APP, say Text Edit even, select all, then set the Font and/or size before saving as a PDF.
Once it's a PDF, it preserves the Font, size and everything else.
Another Option would be to load the PDFs into a PDF editor, say Acrobat Pro, and change the size there.

  • Controlling Font Size in Character Mode Reports

    Hi,
The default Font size of Character mode Reports is 12. I want to reduce the font size from 12 to 8 .How to go about it.The printer codes mentioned in reports Documentation only talk about other attributes like Bold etc. Also the documentation gave the impression that The fontsize can only be controlled for Bitmap reports.Kindly help me out.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Deepak

    Deepak:
The font size for character reports is based in the printer size characters, there are: 10, 12 15 20 etc.
I believe that you want is a smaller character, try to configure your printer with condensed font in the panel of the printer, if you can't do that, try send printer codes to the printer via printer definition file.
For the printer code that you need, check the user's manual of the printer to know what code is that you need.
Look for commands in your manual
    Good luck.

  • Need to enlarge print size when printing

I have just set up a HP Envy 4500e all in one printer. I am using IE 11 and I have the text size set to maximum. When I print the print is so small I can hardly read it. How can I make the printer print larger text
    This question was solved.

Printing size is controlled by the software application that you are using to print.  Check the font size.  This includes your browser.

  • Print Size different than what is on screen

I use Elements 9 and print to an Epson 7900, when I have an image 12 1/2" x 18" the actual print size is coming out 12 1/4" x18 any suggestions, It's getting really frustrating......

Make sure the print resolution is the same as the image resolution. You can check in the Elements Editor: File à Print
In the print dialog check actual size.

  • How can I control the size of a cell in the GridBagLayout?

    Hi,Swing Gurus
    I am developing a swing-based program using JBulider5 enterprise.
It seems to me that the GridBagLayout is really a hard nut!
How can I control the size of a cell in the GridBagLayout?
It seems that I cann't control the size of a cell directly.
But how the size of a particular cell is determined when I switch the layout manager from XYLayout to GridBagLayout?
    Thx in advance!
    Regards,

hi,i have not done what you are asking but there are fields like
COLUMNWIDTH, MINSIZE, MAXGRIDSIZE, PREFEREDSIZE to which you can set the appropriate values and test for your need.hope this helped.bye martian.

  • In CC214 PS Why has adobe removed the "print Size Button"  And why have they made the Brush preview window so small you can't see the effects to accurately adjust them?

In CC214 PS Why has adobe removed the "print Size Button"  And why have they made the Brush preview window so small you can't see the effects to accurately adjust them?
These two things need to be remedied in their upgrades because It's become such a bother I've had to revert to older versions of PS.

Yea, and it's a pain to get to.  What was the rational for removing the print size button?   With the magnifying glass tool selected in older versions of Photoshop you would get a button that says "print size" right next to Actual pixels, Fit Screen, Fill Screen. Now I have to go out of my way and dig for it if I want to see the print size.  Of all the buttons you could have taken away, why not fill screen?  I never use that.
Besides the point I just downloaded the Oct Upgrade for PS and surprise! Nothing has changed and these are two big black eyes on newer versions of Photoshop.   The Brush preview window is  unchanged in CC but in CC2014 it's basically worthless.  If you apply a texture to a brush you can't properly see the scale of the texture, the spacing, scatter, etc...

  • I can't change print sizes in certain folders!

    This is a maddening problem!
I have an HP 8750, which I have no problems with.
I just got a Kodak 5100 printer. The problem is that in certain folders, if I try to change the print size of an image, say Letter to Borderless 4x6, it doesn't stick! In the upper left region, it'll show the new size I selected, but the margins, cell size, image size, etc., don't change.
This only happens in certain folders within the Library! If I move an image from a folder that has the problem into another folder that's working properly, I can resize the images in that folder. If I move it back to the "bad" folder, it won't work again. Likewise, taking an image from a good folder to a bad one makes it so I can't change the size.
This only happens with the 5100 printer. If I switch to the HP, I can set the paper size just fine, even in a "bad" folder. If I switch back to the 5100, it goes back to the size I set before.
It also only happens in Lightroom. If I export the image into Photoshop, it works fine.
I'm thinking this is a bug.

Here's a random sampling of folder names that work and don't work:
    works:
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria2
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria and Lei\Lollipop
    doesn't work:
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria and Lei\Yellow
    E:\Digital Photos\Maria
    E:\Digital Photos\London\fig
    E:\Digital Photos\London\rejects
Notice there are 2 subfolders of E:\Digital Photos\Maria and Lei\, and one works, one doesn't.
Now I haven't systematically checked every file in any particular folder, but if I find that one file in a folder works or doesn't work, every other file I randomly pick so far has also worked or not worked just like the first one.

  • Photoshop CS can't show the actual print size & other bugs...

Although I have set in preferences my display's exact dots per inch (which is 92.72) , the rulers in mm and the real print size of the document, when I click on view print size, the document is displayed much smaller than the actual size! I have also set the printer (a virtual pdf printer) in A1 to avoid a possible scaling of the print size. So the software has all the required information, but still it can't figure out the actual print size!  What do you guys think about that? I personally think that the developers couldn't figure out how to do a simple task either!  Even though I work on photoshop CS occasionally, I have found too many bugs to mention.  The most frustrating one, is that it suddenly stops responding to key shortcuts! Then I have to select everything from the menus or save, exit, restart and re-open the documents -now imagine being in the middle of a complicated task...  Another huge annoying bug: When I "Select All" in order to copy a layer, if that layer happens to have some parts surrounded with transparency, Photoshop destroys their position and the image overall, by arbitrarily centering those parts in the pasted frame!!!  Also, too often everything disappears temporarily if I pause for a second while I drag a selection rectangle etc. They haven't even made the cursor capable to move in a gray background without being invisible!  So much for a "professional" expensive application!  Note I have installed the available patches for this version. I know it's a bit old but as I said, I work occasionally and I don't wish to pay hundreds of euros almost each year for a new version upgrade while I'm not even happy with the previous one!   BTW, on this thread editor when I hit "enter" to start a new line, the cursor goes at the beginning of the document!  Now, are the Adobe's web developers drunk or what?  Sorry, I cannot stand too much of stupidity right now...

Hm, your readings seem to imply Photoshop thinks your screen resolution is just about 128 pixels / inch.  Not sure where it might be getting that number.
For what it's worth, on my Vista system I mocked up an image as you described above:  An image of 3614 x 3196 pixels at 317.632 pixels per inch.  My monitors display 100 ppi, and that's what I have set in the Edit - Preferences - Units & Rulers.
When I selected the zoom tool and clicked the [ Print Size ] button it zoomed to 31.48% and when I measured the display width with the ruler it came up 11-3/8", which is just about right.
HOWEVER...  When I right-clicked the image with the zoom tool active, and chose Print Size it came up 8-1/4", which just happens to be about the same amount smaller than proper size that you're seeing.  Sounds like a bona fide buglet in Photoshop CS.
I repeated the performance with Photoshop CS2.  It works fine in CS2 - the [ Print Size ] button and right-click context menu entry both put the image up the same (proper) size.

  • Controlling screen size with DVI to HDMI

I have a Mac mini attached to my 50 inch Pioneer plasma via DVI to HDMI cable. I also have an Apple TV, but I brought the Mac, because I can use iTunes to play video playlists (The Apple TV can't do this yet). And for the most part, the Mac/Plasma hookup works excellent. However, once in a while, when I switch HDMI inputs, or the Mac goes to sleep and awakes, the screen gets off 'kilter' (e.g., the desktop overshoots the borders of the TV). The only way to get it back to normal again, is to power everything off and unhook / rehook the DVI to HDMI cable. I would use VGA, but the screen looks clearer, brigher with HDMI, and I the videos through iTunes fill the screen better. I tried the Gefen DVI detective, but that didn't seem to work. Is there anything else I can try ? I see the Res X program listed here in many posts, but not sure if this would help and not sure how to configure to solve issue....Thanks.

It sounds to me like it is the TV that is failing to hold onto a setting, not the Mac. Can you find evidence of this? There must be various modes controlling the size/aspect ratio of how video is displayed on the plasma. I would check the settings before and after the problem occurs to see if, in fact, the setting is changing under the conditions you describe of either the Mac waking from sleep or the HDMI input on the TV being switched away from and then back to. If you can confirm it is the TV that is behaving this way, then you need to find out why, possibly taking the matter up with Pioneer.
