Controlling the HTML added by Oracle Reports

Hi,
I'm having a problem with the HTML being added to the output of my report when it is run on the web. Oracle Reports seems to add all these table tags and a buch of other HTML tags that are not really needed. The tags do not affect the output of the HTML, but it does affect the way the output is saved if you do a save as into a text field. I have done some test and found if I can get Oracle reports from adding all that extra junk that is not needed, the report would run great.
So the main question here is how can I control the HTML tags Oracle Reports adds when it creates HTML output.
Thanks,
Tom

Jimmy,
I can’ tell you which product is better in your situation. HTML DB is used to develop applications, so reporting is just one of many features. But based on what you want to create, HTML DB would be a suitable tool for this task. You can create reports, link to those reports, link from report rows to other pages. Let users specify a number of parameters that can be used in the where-clause of your queries, etc. There are limitations of course, especially if you have some advanced printing needs. But since you already have licenses for all Oracle products, I’d suggest you give it a try and see if HTML DB meets your needs.

Marc

  • HTML DB versus Oracle Reports

I'm trying to decide if I should use HTML DB or Oracle Reports for reporting in my web application.
I have an ASP.NET web app and I'm using Oracle 9i Release 2 database. Instead of using Crystal Reports I want to use Oracle technology.
I want to create the reports then link to them in my web app. There won't be any ad-hoc reporting, but users should be any to pass parameters to the reports -- should as a date range.
Any suggestions on which one I should use for my situation? What are the pros/cons to using HTML DB or Oracle Reports? We have an enterprise license for all Oracle products so this is not an issue.
    Thanks!

  • Control the *GO* button in interactive report

How to control the GO button in interactive report using dynamic action?
i have to press the GO button automatically using dynamic action when page item get focused.
    Is it possible?
    thanks and regard,
    skud.

    Hi skud,
Your dynamic action can capture the "Get Focus" event of your page item and then you could try creating a true action to submit the page with a specific request. Create a branch to a URL with the condition of request being equal to the one you specified before, and as target select URL and make use of the filtering of an IR by URL when linking. This is just an idea, hope you can get the result you need.

I have a PRING button on the HTML DB report. When the user click on this PRINT button it launches the oracle report location Portal Server in UNIX box. The report display in Lanscape format as I set it up. However, when I go to File/Print and click print. It print inf Portral. I tried depressly to make it print on page in lanscape format, but I was not success. Pleas help.

This isn't really an APEX question and it's not that clear what you're wanting to acheive.
However, have you tried choosing the landscape print format on your printer preferences via the File -> Print dialog?

  • Html tags in oracle reports

If fields of tables in my database contain html tags such as 'H2O' (here is html tag 'sub') or 'sometext'(here is html tag 'b') how can I to make Report Builder 6i to understand these tags? In other words - can Report Builder understand and treat html tags to format output layout?
Or how in another way I can format a part of text inside the field?
    Example:
The below text comes from database and contains html tags.
<B> THIS IS DEMO TEXT TO TEST HTML TAGES IN REPORTS </B>
    <TD ><B><FONT COLOR="#336699" FACE="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" SIZE="2">Technology Centers
    </FONT></B></TD>
    <html><body dir=&Direction bgcolor="#ffffff"> </body></html>
    <html><body dir=&Direction bgcolor="#ffffff">this is test</body></html>

    Hello Learnotd,
Depending on your requirements, you can do one of the following:
    1. In Reports Builder, you can set the default values for the DESFORMAT system parameter to HTML, DESTYPE to FILE and DESNAME to the desired output file name, in the object navigator. Now, running the report will generate it to the HTML file, instead of displaying it in the previewer.
    2. If you are using the command-line executables, 'destype=file' and 'desformat=html' arguments will produce HTML output (using rwcli60, rwcgi60 or rwrun60) to the file specified by desname.
    3. If you calling Reports from Forms, desformat=html should be included in the run_report_object call.
    Thanks,
    The Oracle Reports Team.

  • Problem with the  text in my oracle report

    hi
I am create an oracle 9i report which consists of some text.
While writing the text , i want to type some alaphets as the power of a a number. For example, 1 to the power of 'st' (i.e. first). Can anybody help me out.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I don't think you'll be able to do it. It's a special effect, like Superscript in MS Work, that you can apply to a part of the text, but Oracle Reports (at least version 9.0.4.0.33 i'm working with) has only 2 of them - Strikeout and Underlying.

    Powergroup,
You may want to post a little bit more about your intended application.  I know a TCSC is a power electronic device used to vary the series impedance of power transmission lines by varying the delay angle of the thryistors in the device.  If the inputs for the delay angle for the TCSC need to be updated deterministicallyyou might want to look into using LabVIEW Real-Time Software and Hardware to control the inputs.
However if project entails developing a feedback control scheme to vary the impedance of a transmission line using a TCSC based on a reference input you may be more interested in how LabVIEW would be able to develop the control scheme. I imagine you would want to take measurements to demonstrate the correctness of the TCSC controller based on this reference input which would also be a consideration.
Please post a little more about your application as it may help determine how to go about controlling your TCSC.  Thanks.

  • HELP:About the OCP exam with Oracle Reports??

    Hello
Can i achieve OCP with SQL exam , PL / SQL exam and oracle 9i reports exam / xml publisher exam
I'm not intrested in giving an oracle forms exam.
I'm working as an oracle reports writer on oracle applications.
Kindly guide me in the right direction with appropriate oracle links etc.
    Regards
    Fahad Hameed.

You can achieve "PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate" by passing "Introduction to Oracle9i SQL 1Z0-007" OR "Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL 1Z0-001" OR "Oracle Database SQL Expert 1Z0-047".
For "Oracle Forms Developer Certified Professional", you need to pass "Oracle Forms: Build Internet Applications 1Z0-141" after getting the "PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate" certificate.

  • Make the field invisible in oracle reports

    Hi,
I want to make an object into invisible in oracle report.
I made the below changes and ran the report and i found the object in the report output.
    Visibility Mode:NO
Please suggest an solution for this.

In Oracle Reports, you can use a format trigger (directly attached to the field) for that.
    IF (:FIELDNAME) IS NULL THEN
    RETURN (FALSE);
    ELSE
    RETURN (TRUE);
    END IF;

  • Controlling the page of an SQL report region

I have an SQL report region containing 70 rows. It shows the status of a bidding process that takes place in sequence, from the guy in the first row to the guy in the last. I use a "red light/green light" technique in each row to show who is currently eligible.
Typically users will login and then hit the next button to get to where the action is once the first 15 folks are done (number of rows = 15). Is there some way to set which set of rows first appears?
I looked at the URLs. When I first logged in I got:
    http://htmldb.ciscoinc.com/bill/f?p=173:3:15341208186623218430::NO:::
    After clicking "Next" I got:
    http://htmldb.ciscoinc.com/bill/f?p=173:3:15341208186623218430:pg_R_4821423314714801953:NO&pg_min_row=16&pg_max_rows=15&pg_rows_fetched=15
How do I come up with:
    pg_R_4821423314714801953 ?
    Any thoughts? Thanks.
    Bill

    Bill,
I would suggest using a dynamic query that’s referencing a page item to limit the result set so that the correct records are shown when the user branches to the report page. Manually modifying the pagination URL is not supported. The URL contains the internal region ID, and is setting some internal pagination variables. The internal workings of report pagination could change in future versions of HTML DB, so manually manipulating those values could cause your report to break duing a future upgrade.
