Controlling the Size of the ADR directory - 11g

With the new ADR directory for problem diag. information such as traces, dumps, alert logs etc, what is the best way to control the size of the files system? Is there an Oracle provided tool for purging old files or do you need to write your own script?

Nothing has ever purged the alert log in Oracle and if something did I would advise every DBA to disable it immediately.
The XML version of the alert log will maintain itself. The text version, as stated above, works the same way it always has and hopefully always will.
As the DBA it is your responsibility to read that file, at a minimum, once every day. While you are doing that you can archive it, drop it, and truncate it.
If it is growing too large you likely aren't doing your job. <g>

  • [SOLVED]mpd does not detect the music directory

I recently installed mpd with the gmpc gui, set my "music_directory" in /etc/mpd.conf to the location of all of my music (which contains lots of other folders and subfolders), but there's no listing of the audio files in the database in gmpc.
Here's the /etc/mpd.conf if that helps:

Thanks, I successfully launched mpd as a user and it detected all of my music. However, if I launch mpd with the mpd.conf that I created in my home directory, it launches, but outputs the following:
    [vladislav@vladislav .mpd]$ mpd ~/.mpd/mpd.conf
listen: bind to '0.0.0.0:6600' failed: Address already in use (continuing anyway, because binding to '[::]:6600' succeeded)
    Is this normal?
*sigh* i answer this for the 3rd time in a row... this is no error it just says that binding to your ipv6 interface happened before the binding to ipv4.
If you want to use your ipv4 interface hardcode it in mpd.conf
    bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"
you can also have several binds:
    bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"
    bind_to_address "192.168.1.13"
to make it listen on localhost and the external IP of your network card.
If your music is on the same machine as your mpd i recommend to use a unix socket in addition.
    bind_to_address "/path/to/some/file/that/does/not/exist/yet"
and make your client connect to that file instead of the IP. Speeds things up a log e.g. in ncmpcpp
and btw: you can save your mpd.conf file as ~/.mpdconf and mpd will automatically use it.

  • How can I control the window size of my output?

    Hi,
I'm drawing a blank... How do I control the size of the window that my project is viewed in? Right now, it's the entire browser window.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
From your post, I assume you are creating WebHelp output.
You  need to create a window for the help in the Project Set-up pod. Then,  you need to make sure you call the output so that the window is used.  See http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/calling_webhelp.htm.  This article on Peter's site give you an overview over the  possibilities of calling context sensitivive webhelp and also tells you  how to specify the needed window. Also, the installation directory of  RoboHelp 8 contains a directory called CSH API. In there are example  API's your developer can use to call the help.

  • How to control the size/position of LabVIEW DLL front panel in MFC application?

I would like to make a MFC application which loads a DLL generated by LabVIEW application builder. How can I control the size and position of the front panel in my MFC application? Thanks.

Did you build the DLL from Labview yourself? If so, you just add another VI to the list. This VI accepts the Title of a front panel and top, left, right, bottom value of the front panel (VI property WindowBond). I'm not familiar with building DLLs using Labview so I really could not help you on how to build the DLL, but I believe it can be done (multiple VIs as multiple functions in a single DLL).
To get the windows bonds for a vi, you need to use VI server property. Check out the examples under labview directory. There are plenty of them to demostrate how to use this feature.

How can I control the size of a cell in the GridBagLayout?
It seems that I cann't control the size of a cell directly.
But how the size of a particular cell is determined when I switch the layout manager from XYLayout to GridBagLayout?
    Thx in advance!

  • How to control the size of live data in Coherence?

How to control the size of live data in Coherence?
    See the following statement:
Pause times increase as the amount of live data in the heap increases. We recommend not exceeding 70% live data in your heap. This includes primary data, backup data, indexes, and application data.
    --Excerpted from http://coherence.oracle.com/display/COH35UG/Best+Practices

In any Java program, it is good practice to make sure your live objects leave some room in the heap for "scratch space." Without this, you will spend too much time in GC, and, in the worst cases, run out of memory. In the general case, you can see how much live data your application requires by looking at the heap used after a full GC's. For Coherence, you should ensure that live data, as you say, is under 70% of the maximum heap size.
Coherence provides you tools to help enforce this policy. [http://coherence.oracle.com/display/COH35UG/local-scheme] describes how to size limit your cache. By implementing an eviction policy, you can control what happens when a size limit is exceeded.

Changing the fonts in Print using ABAP is not possible. as basic report output is a text editor.
By changing "Customizing of Local Layout" will only change in display screen and not in print.
One possible way to create a new printer formatr thry SPAD and use that format in while printing.
to know more details about SPAD
Using SPAD - SAP Spool Administration to print different paper size
The SAP spool system manages its own output devices. This includes mostly printers, but also fax and archiving devices. In order for you to use output devices defined in your operating system from the SAP System, you must define these devices in the SAP spool system.
Print to a dot matrix printer using computer paper with 66 lines
    Define paper types
    Formatting process Z_60_135
    Page format DINA4
Orientation tick both Portrait and Orientation
Type in the comment and click save
    Device initialization
    Device type - OKI341
Formatting process Z_60_135 then click Execute
    Double click Printer initilization
You must key the 66 lines hexadecimals for your printer. ( line no 9)
    1 # oki341 x_paper
    2 # reset
    3 # \e\0x40
    4 # select codepage multilingual 850
    5 \e\0x52\0x1a
6 # disable skip perforation mode
    7 \e\0x4f
    8 # select 6 lpi
    9 \e\0x32
    10 # select page length 66 lines (66=hex $42)
    11 \e\0x43\0x42
    12 # select 10 cpi font
    13 \e\0x60

  • Controlling the size of You-tube links

Is there a way to control the size of the graphic from an You-Tube link?
I have embedded a link to the clip in an HTML snippet but don't seem to be able to affect the size of the initial image without truncating some of the image.
Anyway to expand or decrease this viewing box proportionately?

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand? The snippet's size can be enlarged and will stay that way as long as you don't hit the Apply button after. Maybe that will do what you need.

There is something called message split on adapter engine but it won't guarantee a sequence of adapter calls.
here is a blog about it:

    Hi,
In livecycle, select the masterpage node. In the page tab, specify, for instance, 13in in the height property. Put the object at the end of the page, and mark them as visible but don´t print. In acrobat chose "none" in page scaling property (or print with a print button inside the form and control the scaling property form there).

  • How do you control the position and size of images, i.e,. photo to the printer?

    HP Officejet 8600
    Windows XP
I am trying to figure out how to control the positon and size of photos or pics that are included in an email that I send to my printer via HP ePrint.
    This question was solved.

    Hey Old_Salt,
What model HP printer do you have?
ePrint is a very simple system when it comes to printing, because it doesn't provide as many controls as one may be used to with a computer.  Many of the photosmart printers are designed to recognize a photo in ePrint and print the image to the proper photo paper.

I previously had PS CS5 Trial installed but removed it using both Control Panel Programs and deleting all files from the CS5 directory on Program Files.  I then installed a purchased product from Adobe disc using the serial number on the case.  But when I try to launch it, I get a screen headed Photoshop CS5 Extended Trial.  It asks for the serial number and says that my trial has expired.  It rejects the serial number from the Adobe case saying "This Serial Number is not valid for this product".  It thinks that I still have the expired Trial Version installed.  How do I convince it (the program) that the Trial Version is long gone and the currently installed product was installed with a valid and accepted serial number????

Let me know how it goes. Go into your Adobe account and register your serial number asap.

That way, should you lose it or you need support, it is on record that it's yours and you can fetch your s/n it from anywhere.
There are too may sad stories here, where people forgot and the box is buried or lost.
