Convergence and Comm Express missing carriage returns

We have just upgraded our mail sever. We upgraded from Comm suite 5 (mail server 6.3.) on a sparc system to Comm suite 6 update 1 (mail server 7.0 update 1) . We have run into problems with alerts coming from our ERP (Oracle 11.5.9). These alerts are showing as one long line without any carriage returns in UWC and Convergence. The emails look fine in Outlook.
Thanks for any help.

These alerts are showing as one long line without any carriage returns in UWC and Convergence. The emails look fine in Outlook. I know of at least one bug (#6540158 - "javascript error if mailto: link contains encoded newline characters") that was fixed in recent MS6.3 patches and MS7.0 that may be impacting the display of Oracle ERP sourced emails -- it was the display of Oracle ERP source emails that caused the bug to be raised in the first place.
That being said the Oracle ERP emails also had formatting problems which was fixed at the Oracle end.
Please provide a sample of one of the problem emails (the raw *.msg output) that is causing the problem.

  • Importing Wildcard Cert into Messaging Server and Comms Express???

    Hi all, does anyone know how I can import a wildcard certificate, private key, & CA cert into Messaging Server 6.3 and Comms Express 6.3?
    We have 3 files from DigiCert that I think need to be imported:
    1) A wildcard cert from DigiCert
    2) The DigiCert CA cert
    3) The private key
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi, we are upgrading from iMS5.2 to SJMS6.3 later this year but in the mean time i'm trying to work out how to import the wildcard certs, key, etc from DigiCert into our current iMS5.2. I've heard it can be done.
    We're currently using a cert from Verisign in our iMS5.2 environment.

  • Using a Macro to add a Carriage Return after each data entry within all cells of an imported range of cells

    I have a macro that copies data from a Target workbook then pastes the data into a destination workbook.  I then wish to use lookups in the destination workbook to view specific data from the pasted range of data on a separate sheet.
    The problem is, the cells that contain numbers from the pasted data have the green dogeared error flags associated with the cell. The only way I can make a lookup function work, is to go to each cell and manually enter a carriage return after each entry.
    The code for the macro is given below.  What can be done so that the pasted data contains no errors associated with the number cells?  Or can a second macro be written to clean the data.  If so can you help me out?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi DAPAugust64,
    The green "dogeared error flags" of the cells means that you paste numbers in these cells, but they're formated as Text.
    So you need to change the cells back to the correct format so that the lookup function works fine. You can simply call this method after pasting:
    ActiveSheet.Cells(1, 1).NumberFormat = "General"
    ActiveSheet.Cells(1, 1) = ActiveSheet.Cells(1, 1).Text
    Or use PasteSpecial method to paste the numbers as well as it's format:

  • Write to spreadsheet adds carriage return

    I am using build array function to put together a number of strings and build an array of strings.  The build array is in a while loop.  A new line is added to the array every loop.  I am using write to spread sheet function to save the spreadsheet to a file with xls extension.  For some reason, a carriage return is inserted within the array.  The array has 9 columns and a carriage return is put after the fourth column.  I have not added this carriage return.  Does anyone know why write to spreadsheet might automatically add a carriage return and how to remove it?
    Thank you!
    Solved!

    Hi,
    I took your posted VI and compiled it to an exe.  I do not see the carriage return problem you are describing?
    If you compile the VI you attached, do you see the problem or is it only in the original main application (that you cannot share)?
    If the compiled exe works on your PC, does it also work on the 'different' computer where you see the issue with your original code?
    -If it does work, then the issue must be in the source code for your original code.  Sometimes, if you re-size string constants, for example, it can be hard to see carriage return's.
    Another thing it could be perhaps, is if you are calling the "write spreadsheet" in two different places in your main code, then the way it works is it will write your two (different) input arrays to separate lines.  If it is as in your example VI though, there should be no carriage return in the "middle" of the array.
    For debug purposes, you could consider making a VI that takes a 1D string array input, iterates over each element in the array and searches for the carriage return character and gives an error/message on what iteration it found it, then you can back-track from there to see in the code responsible for making the string that went into that index.

  • Storing carriage return and other special characters in a TestStand variable and passing to LabVIEW

    I am using TestStand step to call a LabVIEW VI that writes commands to a serial device.  The device expects a carriage return at the end of the command.  I can create a constant string in TestStand with the carriage return, e.g., "ATA\x0D" and pass that to a LabVIEW string control which shows ATA\r and the VI works properly.
    To provide consistency and flexibility in my code, I want to store the terminator character(s) in a TestStand variable.  However, when I try to use an expression to create the command string, i.e. "ATA" + "Locals.Terminator", where Locals.Terminator is set to "\x0D", my LabVIEW VI string control shows "ATA\\x0D" which doesn't work.  And when I try Locals.Terminator set to "\r", the LabVIEW string control shows "ATA\\r" which doesn't work either.
    Is there a way to store special characters in a TestStand variable and pass them to LabVIEW as special characters?  I saw in another post that if you edit the TestStand variable by pressing Cntl-Enter, it will store  the newline \n properly and it can be sent to LabVIEW - that works for me as well for \n.  But  I need to send a carriage return.
    I've attached my test sequence and the corresponding LabVIEW VI with a string control.

    Hi Hans,
    Thanks for your detailed explanation and examples.  In TestStand, change the String parameter's String Type to Binary String instead of ASCII.  Then it will pass the desired value.

  • File sender  - carriage return and new line as endseparator

    Hi All,
    I'm stumbled with a problem to set carriage return and newline character as the endseparator (record delimiter)
    Scenario: The input file PI is receiving has got few fields which has text in it and the content in this text has got newline characters. So to identify record separator, at  the end of each record the combination of carriage return and new line is added.
    In file sender content conversion I've set the folllowing parameters to achieve this:
    Row.fieldSeparator :   ,  (comma)
    Row.endSeparator  :  '0x0D''0x0A'
    Problem: In my sample input file, the first row has a text field with a newline character. When executed PI is splitting the record at the newline character in the text field (instead of combination of carriagereturn and newline which is set in the endSeparator paramter).
    Pls advice on how to resolve this .
    Happy Holidays!!
    amar

    Rajesh..Thanks for your quick response
    I'm trying with the actual file being provided by the trading partner. I did not generate the file nor changed the file..
    Before identifying the combination of carraige return and new line, the adapter is splitting the record when encountered with new line character within one of the text fields.
    As you said it worked for you, you do have new line characters within fields in a record?..pls throw some light..let me know for any information..
    Thank you

  • Removing new lines and carriage returns

    Hi,
    SO I am new to regular expressions in java and I want to remove all the new lines and carriage returns from some text, and change them into <p>
    I have tried,
    Pattern pat = Pattern.compile("\n");
    Matcher mat = pat.matcher(text);
    StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
    boolean result = mat.find();
    while (result){
    mat.appendReplacement(sb,"<p>");
    result = mat.find();
    mat.appendTail(sb);
    text=sb.toString();
    But it seems to have no effect. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
    Cheers

    Hello, i've got the same problem. I want to replace "carriage return" and "new line" from an text file. and i use the replace all function for a String object. The problem is, if i call the replace function like this:
    row = row.replaceAll ("\\r", "<p>");
    The "carriage return" is replaced, but not with the "<p>" characters, only with nothing.
    Lines from my original textfile:
    This is an example.
    I want to replace.
    After replacing with the function call row = row.replaceAll ("\\r", "<p>");
    This is an example.I want to replace.
    What is wrong. If i insert tab spaces and replace them, everything is fine. it is abug in my Java Version?
    I use j2re1.4.2_05

  • Carriage Return - Regular Expression

    Hi guys,
    I'm looking for an effective method to speed up the extreme optimization process in my work (finally to not do it manually).
    The particulary issue is to find a good regular expression to replace the carriage returns in the source code with nothing.
    I searched on the net, and many sources converge on the RegExr tool: http://gskinner.com/RegExr/
    I tried to set up an expression to solve my problem but it doesn't work. The expression that was generated by the tool is:
    Find: /\r/g Replace: (none)
    When i enter the expression in Dreamweaver Find & Replace panel (with regular expression option checked and match case, etc. unchecked), it seems to not produce any valid change on the code.
    I'm sure that i'm wrong something.
    Anyone have suggestion?
    Thanks all for help.

    I don't understand the point of this.  There's very little to be gained from removing white space from code. And if you do this to JavaScript, you'll very likely break the code.
    Safer method, go to Edit > Preferences > Code Format > click on Tag Libraries and define how you want your code formatted.  Then  apply with Command > Apply Source Formatting.

  • Regular Expression.  Select Statement.  Carriage Return

    Oracle 9i
    Using SQLPLUS
    I've read about regular expression and need some translation/explanation.
    I have a large table containing a varchar2 (free text) column. Users may have inserted carriage returns when they entered the data. I need to locate rows that contain carriage returns, select and display them. Later I'll need to update those rows to replace the carriage returns with a space.
    Can you assist with syntax. I believe use of a regular expression is required.
    Thanks

    for single characters like <CR> TRANSLATE() Doh. Never post at the end of a long day.
    As the other posters have pointed out, one-for-one single character substitution is normally done with REPLACE(), although TRANSLATE() also works. The more normal role for TRANSLATE() is situations where you want to substitute multiple characters, e.g.
    SQL> update <your table> set <your column> = replace (<your column> , chr(13)||chr(10), ' ');This substitutes a space for a carriage return and line feed combination.

  • Please explain me how I can use Form feed(\f) and Carriage return(\r)

    what is Form feed(\f) and Carriage return(\r)?
    Please explain to me.
    Thank you.

    These control characters aren't used much these days except that if you example a Windows or MSDOS text file in a binary editor you'll find each line ends with "\r\n". However when reading or writing text through classes these carriage returns will be added and removed automatically so your program doesn't see them.
    The controlls date back to teletype machines which operated rather like typewriters. Cariage return, as it's name implied, caused the print head to move back to the start of the line, line feed advanced a line (without, necessarilly, returning the carriage) and formfeed skipped to the next page.
    Newline on these machines was always "return, linefeed" because executing the carriage return on these machine could take too long. The early machines had only a single character buffer so that they had to executed the characters as quickly as they arrived. So doing the linefeed after the carriage return gave the carriage more time to return. On some teletypes if you did "linefeed, return" then the first character of the new line would often be printed somewhere in the middle of the line.
    This is the origin of the MSDOS/Windows end of line sequence.
    Many printers will still respect formfeed if printing is direct. Some will take carriage return without linefeed to allow you to start again overprinting the same line.
    However printing, these days, is seldom direct but done in bitmap form.

  • On Windows 8.1 and Firefox 36.0.1 the textarea in forms has no carriage returns. Earlier versions the forms work. Is there a fix for this?

    Prior to this version of Firefox 36.0.1, the <textarea> in my HTML forms was working; displaying carriage returns. In version 36.0.1 they no longer function properly. Instead when I enter a carriage return, it displays a space instead of a newline. I went to the most basic textarea testing
    &lt;textarea&gt; name="comments" cols=20 rows=10 &lt;/textarea&gt;
    to make sure I wasn't introducing anything with other languages.
    I am using Windows 8.1 Pro. I rolled back to Firefox 35.0 and everything works fine. I install 36.0.1 and it stops working.
    I have access to another Laptop also running the same version of windows and Firefox and it appears to be doing strange things as well. I am suspicious in that I started noticing this immediately after a windows upgrade last night. The laptop also experienced the issues it is having immediately after a windows update yesterday evening.
    I have yet another PC running a different version of windows and Firefox and it too works fine. It looks like the issue is where there is windows 8.1 Pro and Firefox 36.0.1.
    Do you guys have any idea what is going on here?
    Thanks

    The current release supports the white-space property for a text area and it is possible that the website uses white-space: pre instead of white-space: pre-wrap.
    The former will prevent Firefox from wrapping the text.
