Hello,
If there was no problem at time of configuration then I am not sure what is going wrong.
however If by any chance you have the configuration screens and the logs then might could help you.
was it able to connect to the webmail server at least while you provided the parameters?
Which OS? platform? any patches installed?
regards,
sumant.

  • Toshiba 51HC85 Convergence problem, won't let me redo convergence

I recently aquired one of these TVs second hand, I can tell the picture quality is top notch, but the convergence is off. No problem, download the manual, start the steps, I scroll through the menu and picture settings to "convergence" and it will not let me go farther, I can not select the converge menu, redo it nothing, I hit enter on the remote and the TV, and nothing works, it will not let me reset the convergence. Any ideas?

This is what it looks like when I try to do what the Apple Genius told me to do.

  • Convergence problem -- users seeing other users' mailboxes

    Hello, all!
We seem to be having rather a shocking problem with Convergence -- in certain rare circumstances, people logging in to Convergence sometimes end up with other people's mailboxes instead of their own.
Today, we had another of such incidents reported to our helpdesk -- after the issue was passed to my division, I decided to visit the affected user's desktop to see who they were logged in as, plus some particulars from cookes that Convergence uses, thinking that it may be related to a recent patch we received as a response from a Sun Support ticket filed about a similar incident. Afterwards, I went back to the server and started reading logs to see if I could pinpoint the root cause of what happened.
Note that these logs have been sanitized -- <INCORRECT_USER> represents the username of the mailbox that the affected user saw instead of their own, <AFFECTED_IP> represents the IP address of the affected user's IP address, and <PREVIOUS_IP> represents the IP address of the user trying to access their mailbox that was seen by the affected user as well. (The IPs are not the same and are not in the same subnet.)
So, from our Glassfish domain's access logs:
    "<AFFECTED_IP>" "NULL-AUTH-USER" "09/Nov/2010:11:04:37 -0600" "GET /iwc/svc/wmap/msg.mjs?rev=3&sid=&mbox=INBOX&uid=457&process=html%2Cjs%2Clink%2Ctarget%2Cbinhex&maxtext=155000&security=false&lang=en&token=KZc9jnOair&dojo.preventCache=1289322277283 HTTP/1.1" 200 6184
That was the last access from the affected user's IP address before the incident begins -- this is just to show that they didn't log out. Then:
    "<PREVIOUS_IP>" "NULL-AUTH-USER" "09/Nov/2010:11:19:06 -0600" "GET /iwc_static/layout/login.html?lang=en-us&14.01_234924&svcs=abs,im,mail,calendar,c11n HTTP/1.1" 200 5095
...the other user visits the login page to try and log in. (I'll spare everyone the accesses to the preloading of Convergence's UI images. =) After a while, the other user attempts to log in and is successfully sent to main.html:
    "<PREVIOUS_IP>" "NULL-AUTH-USER" "09/Nov/2010:11:19:11 -0600" "POST /iwc/svc/iwcp/login.iwc HTTP/1.1" 200 312
    "<PREVIOUS_IP>" "NULL-AUTH-USER" "09/Nov/2010:11:19:11 -0600" "GET /iwc_static/layout/main.html?lang=en&14.01_234924& HTTP/1.1" 200 8856
    However, out of the blue:
    "<AFFECTED_IP>" "NULL-AUTH-USER" "09/Nov/2010:11:19:11 -0600" "POST /iwc/svc/iwcp/login.iwc HTTP/1.1" 200 312
    "<AFFECTED_IP>" "NULL-AUTH-USER" "09/Nov/2010:11:19:11 -0600" "POST /iwc/svc/wmap/cmd.mjs HTTP/1.1" 200 17
...the affected user tries to log in as well, then ask the AJAX cmd process to do something. The affected user mentioned that they usually stay connected to Convergence and just reopen a browser window when they need to check their mail. This seems consistent -- main.html probably prompted the affected user to retype their password to continue on after the previous commmand above failed after an expired session after they closed their browser window.
    Now, according to Convergence's iwc.log:

I'm stumped -- anyone have any ideas why this is happening to us? (Due to these problems, we've been forced to shutdown our Convergence servers and redirect users to another older webmail product until this is fixed.)

The other interesting thing I found was while I was searching for the other user's username in the LDAP logs -- earlier I pointed out an interesting entry about "creating a Comms user"; however, the other user logged in previously to Convergence:"creating a Comms user" => means creating user object in memory using details in the LDAP and configuration, it does not create a User entry in LDAP.
Can you please provide following details:

  • HB Convergence problem in EM-circuit co-simulation

    Hi,
It would really be very helpful if someone could take a quick look at the simulation problem in the attached project. I keep getting the simulation errors - "Step size for source stepping has decreased below a minimum allowed value." and "Poor convergence in AC/DC analysis (rel/abs err = 2.000 / 0.000 ) Largest change in node (41) Maximum voltage in node (46) = 53.076 Minimum voltage in node (MET_BASE!_S12_LD1.R1.ET) = -4.337 Largest change in branch (_S12_S1.I16) Maximum current in branch (_S12_S1.I17) = 951.567m Minimum current in branch (MET_BASE!_S12_LD1.R1.Bessel_L1.I) = -1.735"
despite trying out most of the suggested solutions listed in the help for the particular error message, the problem persists. What am I doing wrong here in the simulation setup ?
Thank you very much in advance.

A few problems with the project:
The harmonic balance frequency spectrum includes DC (frequency=0), but your s-parameter models do not include data at 0Hz.  So Microwave Office is extrapolating the data down to DC.  The best solution is to add a 0Hz matrix line to the data.  You can also try alternate interpolation techniques in Options > Project Options > Interpolation/Passivity tab; try Rational function and Cartesian, or Linear and Polar.
We recommend using the APLAC simulator for harmonic balance analyses.  From the menu, select Scripts > Simulation > Convert_Meas_to_APLAC.  The default settings should work fine.
You only need the "PA LS Sim_Real Ckt_check" schematic.
With the EXTRACT block enabled, it is the same as "EM_Ckt Co_Simulation_Nonlinear_Linear".  You can make linear measurements on a nonlinear schematic. (Generally, you should not use extracted EM structures as a SUBCKT in other schematics. If you ever need to do something like this, make a copy of the EM structure to eliminate its association with the originating schematic, and use the copy as a SUBCKT.)
With the EXTRACT block disabled "PA LS Sim_Real Ckt_check" is almost like "PA Final ckt_Pgain_AM_PM".  You just need to change the port to sweep power.  For measurements that you want to make at 20dBm, rather than with swept power, just choose the desired input power level on the measurements.  (Why did you disable the layout  on the microstrip elements in this schematic?)
In this project, you can use one top level schematic for all measurements.  We recommend a "testbench" approach when you need to perform different tests (e.g. 2-tone or pulse input, different biasing topologies, etc.).  By this, we mean using the same circuit schematic as a SUBCKT in one or more top level testbench schematics.  This way, you only edit the circuit in one place, and do not have to manually keep duplicates in sync.

  • Convergence error in mosfet driver NCP5355D circuit, might be bootstrap mistake?

    Hi there,
I'm using the Multisim 13.0.1. There's a 8-pin mosfet driver NCP5355D available in the library. I wanted to use it for switching half-bridge MOSFETs, but a simulation error has occured. The report said that 'Transient time point calculation did not converge'.
I've included the circuit with the gate driver, and also the circuit with separate pulsed voltage sources for switching MOSFETs, which could provide a general view of what I intended to achieve with the gate driver.
I also tried to configure the gate driver step by step- I started from the VS, CO, EN, PGND pins side and got no simulation errors then; but when I started connecting the BST and DRN pins, convergence error occurred. So is the convergence error resulting from any mistakes in connecting the BST and DRN pins?
To make it easier, the datasheet of NCP5355D is also attached here, where example application connections are included.
Expecting your insights and thanks in advance!

I do not have Multisim so I cannot see your circuits but have some general observations.
    1. MOSFET driver models often use switches and these can lead to convergence problems. This is because the switching action introduces a strong non-linearity into the model.  I wrote my own model using transmission lines for delay and non-linear dependent sources with tanh functions rather than hard switches.
    2. If you do not need to model the detailed behavior of the driver, using pulsed sources with rise/fall times as long as possible without changing the behavior of the MOSFETs might be a better choice.
    3. There are books written on how to deal with SPICE convergence problems. This is what I found helpful from one of them:
** From Inside Spice by Kielkowski
    **   Convergence aids:
    **     Select appropriate RELTOL
    **     set VNTOL = RELTOL*Vsmall
    **     set ABSTOL = RELTOL*Ismall
**     set GMIN = 1/Rp where Rp is parasitic resistance which
***      will have minimal effect when added to circuit.
**     semiconductor models should have non-zero resistances
**        RS (diode), RE, RC (BJT), RD, RS (FET)
**     Raise ITL1=500 (DC OP iterations limit)
    **     use .NODESET
    **     use source stepping ITL6=500
    **  Transient convergence aids
**     Add capacitance to device models:
**        CJO (diode), CJE, CJC, CJS (BJT), CDG, CGS (JFET)
**        CGDO, CGSO, CGBO, CBD, CBS, CJ, CJSW
    **     increase ITL4=40
    Good luck.

  • Strange Shadows Cast by Windows

    Hi, everybody,
I have recently begun to experience a very strange phenomenon on my old iMac DV 400mhz.
First, a little background. The unit is about 10 years old, has an upgraded 120 GB hard drive, and has 768 MB of RAM installed. I am currently running Mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger, and I have a number of applications installed, including, most recently, the Gimp photo shop program (which works through the X11 shell).
Now, to the problem. Within the last few days, I've noticed what seems to be a faded ghosting effect on the right side of the screen. It is visible to the right of most open windows and menus, and is most starkly visible on the boot screen.
Included below are a few sample pictures that will illustrate what I'm talking about.
    (Taken with my iPhone)
I am puzzled because when I take a screen capture, none of the shadows show up -- as you can see in this picture:
This leads me to believe that there is something happening to my monitor. I guess my question is, "What could that be?"
I've already repaired Disk Permissions, Verified the Disk, reset the PRAM, and started up from the Mac OS X Install Disk, and the strange shadows are still visible. I even used the calibration assistant in System Preferences. Does anyone have any idea about what's happening? Has this happened to anyone else? Is my monitor finally starting to die after 10 years? Is there something else I'm missing?
I'd appreciate any help that you guys can provide. I've always enjoyed this forum community in the past, and I hope to communicate warmly and helpfully on a more regular basis in the future.
    Thanks!
    Sammy Larkin

If you look carefully at the LEFT side of the white box in the "Starting Mac OS X" screenshot, there is a magenta cast all up and down the left side, a bit more pronounced at the bottom of the box. This says to me that your display has color convergence problems (all the electon guns are not aimed at quite the same spot to give pure white everywhere). \[White areas are formed by lighting up adjacent Red, Green and Blue phosphor dots on the screen. If the convergence is not quite right, areas that should be white will have color casts.] I think that the shadow you see is an echo of this color mis-alignment.
This is a physical problem inside the CRT, nothing to do with software. That is why your screen shot looks great, despite the defects of the picture on the display.
This can happen whether the display uses three electron guns shooting at clusters of dots (Tridot) or a single electron gun shooting at alternating stripes (Trinitron) technology. Yours may be a Trinitron, as it appears to have the tiny imperfections, narrower than a pixel high, that extend all the way across the screen near the top and bottom, and possibly a few more. These are caused by the tiny wires that support the aperture grill used to mask off stray electrons in a Trinitron display.
On your display, I do not know offhand whether color convergence is something that can be changed under software control. On many large (21" and up) SONY displays, there are controls in the software or on the front panel that can be used to adjust the color convergence.
If there are no such controls, the display may have to be opened, and adjusted with the power on and covers off. This may expose the technician to upwards of 10,000 Volts, and should only be undertaken by those trained in proper safety procedures. It can be very dangerous. Connecting that Voltage across your heart (e.g., Hand-to-hand) can stop your heart.

  • Red shift on black text

I'm getting a red shift on my black text (especially on uprights). It looks like convergence problem on a CRT and is most noticeable on the menu items at the top of the screen.
Have others experience this and is it fixable?
My iMac will be 4 years old this November.
I posted before but I think I was in the wrong category.

    Chris,Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Not heard of this one before.
Do you have a display adaptor and another display if so does the issue occur on there too?

  • Timestep Too Small Error (12ax7 circuit)

Hi, I've just started using multisim 8 to simulate Vacuum Tube circuits and am having trouble. Everytime I build a preamp circuit using a 12ax7 or similar tube and hit "simulate"; I get an error "timestep too small.....". Then the simulation stops. I've tried changing the timestep options in transient analysis instruments options. If I change the maximum timestep to a higher value, the simulation starts but just keeps running and I get no results with the oscilloscope I have on the outputs of the preamp tube circuit. All other analog and digital simulations I've tried work perfectly without having to change any of the default values for the transient analysis instrument options. I cannot understand what the problem is. My computer is a AMD 64 bit 3.4 ghz with 512 megs of ram, 280 gig hard drive, etc. I'm not using 64 bit windows xp, I'm using 32 bit windows xp professional. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has had any luck simulating 12ax7 or similar circuits, please send me a reply or the saved file to see if that works. I've been looking for any tube preamp circuits to download for multisim but haven't been able to find any. Thanks!

I like to give an (general) answer to the common questions regarding "Time Step to small" and convergence problems in Multisim.
SPICE takes a text netlist describing the circuit elements (transistors, resistors, capacitors, etc.) and their connections, and translate this description into equations to be solved. The general equations produced are nonlinear differential algebraic equations which are solved using implicit integration methods, Newton's method and sparse matrix techniques.
To cut a long story short: If Multisim displays a "Time Step to small" or similar message, it only means that SPICE can't find a mathematical solution to the given circuit. Even if your circuit looks real, it is possible that through ideal models (e.g. don't take 'real' parasitic effects into account), ideal sources (e.g. high rise and fall time for a clock source) it doesn't behave like in reality. "Playing" around with your circuit (e.g. changing resistor values etc.) may or may not solve the problem. But as a rule of thumb, it is always recommended to match the components to their real counterparts.
A good approach to overcome convergence problems is to understand more about the SPICE Engine Options. They define what is rated as a "good" solution and what will become a "Time Step to small" or similar error. You can find the settings for the SPICE Options in the Analysis tab (part of setup for all analysis and the Interactive Simulation Settings for instruments).
Steps to solve "Time Step to small"
Change RELTOL to 0.01% (Relative Error Tolerance)
Change METHOD to "trapezodial" (Integration method)
Change ITL4 to 100 (Upper transient iteration limit)
Please consult Multisim's online help for further assistance on convergence problems and SPICE options.
A great online resource are the SPICE Simulation Fundamentals on ni.com.

  • Load Pull Questions

I do have a 2 die transistors in a single package as shown below
    I have 2 questions:
    1. How do you do Load Pull in MWO under a Constant Output Power? I'm thinking of using the CONSTPOUT in MWO but not sure if this works. I'm planning to just do this on a single stage die transistor and just ground the other transistor.
    2. Is it possible to perform loadpull using 2 simultaneous Tuners at the output using common variables in MAG and ANG for both tuners or is it possible to have two load tuners with the same ID?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. CONSTPOUT is the right way to go, but are you sure your amplifier can achieve the desired output power level at all termination impedances in the loadpull sweep?  Convergence problems can be tricky.  Attach a project if you need help.
    2. You can reference any element parameter using the syntax shown below.  As Mag1 and Ang1 on TU1 are tuned, TU2 will track, so s33=s11.  (I hid the other parameters to simplify.)

    ./configutil -o local.domainmap.debuglevel -v 3
./stop-msg http;./start-msg httpRetest the Convergence init-config and see whether there is any additional debug data in the Messaging Server http log that points at the root cause of the problem.I increased the logging level and here is the log

  • Convergence per domain customization problem

I have enabled customizations in the convergence installation and added the configuration objectclass/attribute to the domain. I copied the configuration sample to my c11n directory. My config.js looks like this:
    c11n.config = {
    // allDomain configuration
    allDomain: {
    module: "allDomain", // module name
themeEnabled: true, // true if theme is customized
i18nEnabled: true, // true if i18n is customized
jsEnabled: true // true if js is customized
// the last entry must not end with comma
// replace sample.com for each domain configuration, change
// domain name uwo_ca to example_com for javascript syntax and url syntax
    jestest_uwo_ca: {
    module: "jestest_uwo_ca", // module name
themeEnabled: true, // true if theme is customized
i18nEnabled: true, // true if i18n is customized
jsEnabled: true // true if js is customized
// the last entry must not end with comma
}, // I have tried it without the , and with it
I then copied the default allDomain files into the jestest_uwo_ca directories and modified all the paths to reflect the directory structure. When I startup convergence I get to "20% User Theme" and it hangs. Enabling debug logs, the last message is:
    PROTOCOL: DEBUG from com.sun.comms.client.protocol.delegate.agent.ClientOptionsA
    gent Thread httpSSLWorkerThread-80-0 at 2010-05-13 12:16:21,731 - Found domain
specific client preferences, merging with default client prefs
The theme worked when I used it in the allDomain but I would rather use the per domain features for all the customizations. There is nothing weird in the ldap directory logs or in the log messages before the "merging with default" messages. Any advice on how to debug?
    thanks

For convergence I have used Firefox to check previous problem. There are a large number of known issues with IE8 and Convergence which have been resolved in the upcoming -10 patch.
Some features are working as below:
    1. File Attachment icon not working while composing mail. This is a known IE8 and Convergence bug which is fixed in patch -10:
bug #6832343 - "IE8:Can not attach file to message"
    2. Clicking on "Create Link" icon while composing mail, it create link top of window instead of current location in composeI couldn't find an existing bug for this issue so I created a new one as the problem still appears in a pre-release-build of patch -10:
bug#6879497 - "IE8: "Create Link" causes link to be added to top of page rather then in compose window"
Pl. help me regarding tentative date of second phase release of IPv6 for sun messaging.Exactly what IPv6 functionality/feature(s) are missing from Sun Messaging 7u2 that you urgently require?
For the other issues you raised:
    2. Clicking on “To”, “cc” “bcc”; address book is not open, while pointer symbol change as hand shape. Are you clicking on the left-hand "To:" or on the (+) button on the right of the email address entry section?
    4. In spell check box- any button such as replace, replace all, ignore, ignore all, cancel etc. not working.I can't reproduce this problem with Convergence patch -09 and Firefox 3. What browser are you using to test this?
    5. Creating group is not working. Other button (all, create group, cancel etc) not workingI can't reproduce this problem with Convergence patch -09 and Firefox 3. What browser are you using to test this? Do you see any errors in the javascript Error Console in Firefox?
    6. After importing address it does not overwrite existing entriesDo you mean you are trying to import an address-book, if so what format (e.g. vcard/ldif/csv)?
Do you have "ab.pstore.allowdupentry = true" set?
    7. In Address book “Edit” button not workingI can't reproduce this problem with Convergence patch -09 and Firefox 3. What browser are you using to test this? Do you see any errors in the javascript Error Console in Firefox?
    8. To change password, while clicking on “Save Preference” it show popup box with error message : Invalid Request one or more parameter is missingI can't reproduce this problem with Convergence patch -09 and Firefox 3. What browser are you using to test this?
Does this occur every time you test (for all users etc.)?
Did you try to use a new password that had any non-alphanumeric characters?
    9. In Global General option, convergence startup first time showing “undefined” parameter. After changing it with another parameter “undefined” become disappear. This looks like bug #6828234 - '"Start up" service is shown as "undefined" if user does not have mail service' but may be some other issue. I suggest re-testing after applying Convergence patch -10.
    10. In mail General option while clicking on any “select” button it automatically redirected to home page.I can't reproduce this problem with Convergence patch -09 and Firefox 3. What browser are you using to test this?
    11. Clicking on mail filter option button like “New Filter”,etc it redirected to home page.I can't reproduce this problem with Convergence patch -09 and Firefox 3. What browser are you using to test this?
    12. Clicking on ‘Subscribe to Folder’ option it show error message popup: WMAP protocol error, invalid compact WMAP response.Do you still see this problem after upgrading mshttpd to MS7u2?
    13. If spell check is on it stop sending mail without checking spelling and any button are not working I can't reproduce this problem with Convergence patch -09 and Firefox 3. What browser are you using to test this?
