Conversion from system to demo database

I have a EPM9.0 database in peoplesoft . How can I check if the database is system or demo instance?
I need a demo database but if I have a system database then can I convert a system into demo database?
If yes then how to do it? Can i just run the datamover script and convert.
If not then I will have completely build up a new EPM database demo version

Basically, there is no difference between a DEMO and SYSTEM database, but data.
If you are not in multilingual config, when you create a SYSTEM database, one datafile is imported, $PS_HOME\data\hcengs.db amd when you create a DEMO database, two datafiles are imported, $PS_HOME\data\hcengs.db and $PS_HOME\data\hcengl.db
If there is no sample data in a SYSTEM database, there are a lot in a DEMO database. You could check the user account list to see easily if there is sample account or not.
To move from a DEMO to a SYSTEM database, it could be really paintful since you have to remove a lot of data from many tables (not only the sample user account).
If a development database could be based on a DEMO database, a UAT or production one must be built on a SYSEM database. To change, the most simple way is to create a SYSTEM database from scratch, and move the users projects from the DEMO to the SYSTEM database.
To move from a SYSTEM to a DEMO, it is the same, much more sure to create a DEMO database from scratch and move the projects.
Or you could try to import a dms data file specific to the DEMO $PS_HOME\data\hcengl.db, but it could overwrite your own modifications or so, I didn't test a move from SYSTEM to DEMO with such running.

  • Reg: Exporting the data from the Physical Standby database system.

    Hello all,
    We have an oracle standard edition one 11gR1 environment, in which i need to export the data from the physical standby system.
    So can anyone suggest me, How to do it safely (mount state).
    Regards,
    Konda.

    Hi,
    You can use "exp" utility to export the database from a read only database whereas you can't export the read only database using "expdp".
    Since you are using version 11g, it is not advisable to use exp. You can convert your standby to snapshot database, open read, write and export the database using expdp and then again convert it to standby.
    This is a very easy process which we follow in our company to do testing when required.
    Follow note 11g Using Snapshot Standby Database. (Doc ID 443720.1) for converting and usage.
    Thank you!!

  • Conversion from MDMP to Unicode

    Hallo.
    I would like an information.
    We are upgrading from R/3 4.6C MDMP to ECC 6.0 Unicode through the CU&UC Guide.
    Our codepages installed (Table TCPDB) are 1100 and 1700 (for Greek).
    We are setting SPUM4 and I see that in the CU&UC Conversione guide there is:
    "2.2.2  Initialize/Edit Language Lists
    Before the database check, you have to maintain two lists which contain languages and code pages. They are used in conjunction with language keys to determine the correct code page to use for converting table data.
    2.2.2.1 Restrictions
    You cannot edit the lists during a running worker job!
    Active languages can be added to or deleted from both lists before the Consistency Check is started. This also includes changing the code page information for a language as described in the following sections.
    Inactive languages can be added to or deleted from both lists before the scan Tables with Ambiguous Language Information is started.
    Systems with Code Page 1100
    If you use the wrong frontend code page 1100 for logon (with SAP GUI for Windows) to SAP systems running with code page 1100, you are able to input some characters that are not in the system code page 1100. Example: the Euro sign (€) and the trademark sign (™). Those characters get lost during the conversion!
    system code page = 1100     frontend code page = 1100
    no € and ™ in the Unicode system
    There is a workaround to prevent this:
    For all languages which are displayed in the Language List with code page 1100 change this entry to 1160 which corresponds to Microsoft code page cp1252.
    system code page = 1100     frontend code page = 1160
    € and ™ in the Unicode system
    So I understand that in the Language list settings of SPUM4 I have to put:
    Language
    Code Page
    Active
    1160
    DE
    1160
    X
    EN
    1160
    X
    FR
    1160
    X
    EL
    1160
    X
    HU
    1160
    IT
    1160
    X
    JA
    1160
    DA
    1160
    PL
    1160
    ZF
    1160
    NL
    1160
    NO
    1160
    PT
    1160
    SK
    1160
    RU
    1160
    ES
    1160
    X
    Note the parameter:
    zcsa/installed_languages=EFDGIS
    Are my language settings right?
    In particular, is the entry for EL (Greek) right or have I to put, instead 1700 for EL?
    So
    Language
    Code Page
    Active
    EL
    1700
    X
    Could you help me?
    Thanks.

    Jim,
    Before starting the database A, did you set ORACLE_SID=A from command line? You can run as many instances you want from single server provided you enough memory, processing power. Also try starting your instances usign window services and check and post some lines from alert.log for database A.

    I need some information regarding conversion from 11.03 to R12 along with Capital Project's conversion, do we need to take care Asset Assignment and Assets information at the time of Project Conversion. Iam doing Project and Task conversion different. Is there any good mapping document or Conversion FD, if any body have please send my mail ID. [email protected]
    Thanks for your help.
    Thanks,

    Usually only Open Invoices and Unapplied Receipts are migrated from Old system to New Instance.
    Post Migration Reconciliation shall be tough in that scenario. Reconsider/Rediscuss with Client.
    Migration can be done using APIs or Custom Scripts using Standard Interfaces.
    Hope this is helpful

  • Page numbers incorrect after conversion from Excel to pdf

    Page numbers incorrect after conversion from Excel to pdf
    ""This above link (thread:834599) is from a case back in 2011 that claims to solve this problem, but it does not solve this problem. I think that customer only cared about having continuous page numbering, not discrete page numbering per sheet.
    ========================
    I still have this issue in Acrobat XI and MS Office Professional Plus 2010. I keep upgrading to no avail. This regression has resulted in a huge time drain for me. If you fixed it, please explain how I can get my hands on the resolution.
    Previous versions of Excel and Adobe Acrobat enabled flexibility around the "Page #" of "Number of Pages" (Page &[Page] of &[Pages]) token, depending on context and usage. The "# of pages" token could represent EITHER the number of pages in the workbook OR the number of pages in the tab/sheet, depending on how you generated the PDF:
    You could select "Selected Sheets" and then select all or some of the individual sheets in the workbook, and the PDF would honor the discrete numbering of each of the sheets, so the first page of each sheet was p1 and the "# of pages" was the number of pages in the sheet; not the number of pages in the workbook; or
    You could select "Entire Workbook" and the PDF would honor continuous page numbers across all sheets, as a single document.
    Now, it only honors the total number of pages in the workbook, regardless of the method you use to publish to PDF: saving as PDF, printing to PDF, using "createPDF" from Acrobat plugin to Excel's menu ribbon; selecting all sheets, some sheets, or Entire Workbook; automatic First page number or "1" under Page Setup > Page> First page number. (This last option, btw, does restart every sheet at p1, but it hardly makes sense if the total number of pages is still the total number in the workbook instead of the number in the sheet.)
    I spent a lot of time trying each which way that the blog posts recommended and have tried this on multiple versions of Excel and Acrobat now.
    NONE of these time-consuming experiments gave me what I wanted.They all insist that "Page #" of "Number of Pages" (Page &[Page] of &[Pages]) is the total number of pages in the workbook or the total number of pages in the selected sheets combined.
    The numbering are correct in Excel Page Layout.
    The same issue happens when using LibreOffice calc. (Although, I never tested with Libre Office before, so I don't know that it ever worked).
    The workaround now is to create PDF for each spreadsheet one at a time, and then compile them using the Acrobat combine/binder feature. All alternatives are extremely time consuming and tedious. It used to be automatic. This is a major regression that has gone untreated for over a year now, maybe two years.
    My task takes infinitely more time to complete than it did with previous versions of Acrobat. That means that days are added to my project, when the functionality used to enable a quick pdf generation that was ready for review, now I have to do this very manual time-consuming set of steps to generate a draft. As the project has grown and more tabs are added, my pdf-generation task takes that much longer. We require lots of drafts. It used to be easy and fast. Now it is hard and time-consuming.
    In my opinion, the problem is not Excel; it is Acrobat because it was introduced with an upgrade in Acrobat, not an upgrade in Excel. The problem was introduced in Acrobat 9 or 10. Please provide a patch or add-on or something.

    If you are setting up the page numbers in Excel, the resulting PDF would display the the page numbers created in Excel. On Excel 2010 support page, (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/insert-and-remove-page-numbers-on-worksheets- HA010342619.aspx#BM2) is stated the following "tip" which indicates by default Excel 2010 starts numbering each tab with 1. Exel's workaround tip is below -
    Set a different number for the starting page
    Tip   To number all of the worksheet pages in a workbook sequentially, first add page numbers to all worksheets in a workbook, and then use the following procedure to begin the page number for each worksheet with the appropriate number. For example, if your workbook contains two worksheets that with both be printed as two pages, you would use this procedure to begin the page numbering for the second worksheet with the number 3.
    On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click the Dialog Box Launcher next to Page Setup.
    On the Page tab, in the First page number box, type the number that you want to use for the first page.
    Tip   To use the default numbering system, type Auto in the First page number box.
    Also helpful in the same section is the note on viewing page numbers. To see if the page numbering dilemma originates in Excel make sure you are using the Page Layout View see below:
    Hide All
    If you want numbers shown on pages when you print a worksheet  you can insert page numbers in the headers or footers of the worksheet pages. Page numbers that you insert are not displayed on the worksheet in Normal view — they are shown only in Page Layout view and on the printed pages.
    Overall it may be easier not to create the page numbers in Excel but instead create then in Acrobat using the Headers and Footers option in Acrobat.  I hope this helps - it sounds like a frustrating issue you are experiencing.

    You may have working code now, but the code you posted is horrible and I'm going to tell you a much much much better approach for the JDBC part. (You should probably isolate your database code from your user interface code as well, but I'm skipping over that structural problem...)
    Do this instead:
        public void getData(String a){
            PreparedStatement p;
            String strQuery = "select count(*) the_count from customer where id = ?";
            try {
             //create a prepared statement object to execute sql statements, it's better, faster, safer
             p = c.prepareStatement(strQuery);
                // bind the parameter value to the "?"
                p.setInt(1, Integer.parseInt(a) );
                //execute the query
                ResultSet rs = p.executeQuery( );
                // if the query doesn't throw an exception, it will have exactly one row
                rs.next();
                System.out.println("i am testing");
                if (rs.getInt("the_count") > 0 ) {
                // it's there, do what you need to...
             else
                  JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"I could not find the value");
            catch (SQLException e) {
                 // JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null,"You may enter wrong id");
                 // if you get an exception, something is really wrong, and it's NOT user error
            // always, always, ALWAYS close JDBC resources in a finally block
            finally

    Second, this retrieves just the needed information, whether or not the id is in the database. Your way will get much much slower as more data goes into the database. My way, if there is an index on the id column, more data doesn;t slow it down very much.
    I've also left some important points in comments.
    No guarantees that there isn't a dumb typo in there; I didn't actually compile it, much less test it. It's at least close though...

  • Date Conversion from GMT to Local and Local To GMT considering DST.

    Hi,
    I have a application which displays the time in GMT across all the screens,and saves in Local/Default TimeZone as application would be deployed in europe and India.I have written a utility which does the conversion.
    I just want to know that how to handle the Daylight Saving Time[DST] as we are taking the data from database and converting it to LocalTime Zone.This works fine but what would happen if the sever time is changes due to DST.There would be problem between the object saved before the DST and after DST because we are simply converting stored time to GMT to show on the screen.
    Please share if you some solution/suggestions.
    Thanks.
    Akash.

    That statement is phrased oddly.
    A java.util.Date uses a UTC offset with millisecond resolution.
    A jdbc driver converts that value into a "correct" value for the target database.And from.
    The form that is stored in the database is entirely database dependent. The actual form stored in the database can take many forms.True, but it is highly likely to be an offset from some "epoch" (Progress, for example, uses 00:00:00 1/1/-3714 UTC as I recall, and has 1-second granularity).Yes but as I said the phrasing was odd. A timestamp, by definition, must be an offset of something. Doesn't matter how it is represented. After all the year 2009 is an offset in the Gregorian calander.
    However in terms of actual storage the way it is stored is unlikely to be similar to what Java does. As examples neither Oracle nor MS SQL Server uses a single numeric offset.
    It might not even have a concept of timezone.Again true, although I've yet to come across one; and since OP is only concerned about the timezone in Java I'm not quite sure how relevant that is.
    Relevant in terms of the description in terms of what java does, what the database does and how it gets from java to the database.
    I would also expect any JDBC driver that cannot translate to or from a Java date correctly to document the fact in 60-point bold type, since it's a violation of the implied contract of ResultSet.getDate().Except that depends on your definition of "correct".
    Examples of that
    - Oracle doesn't have millisecond resolution at all in its common format.
    - MS SQL Server doesn't have the same resolution as java, instead there is an odd resolution (one three-hundredth of a second).
    - MS SQL Server doesn't have timezones, so if you don't take care and your data crosses timezones the timestamp will be different.
    The drivers will not warn you of things like that. At least not that I have seen.

  • Conversion from milliseconds to Date in 1.5

    A java.util.Date object can be constructed by passing the number of milliseconds since 1 January 1970 as a constructor argument. This Date can then be formatted to a human-readable format with SimpleDateFormat.
    I have tested this conversion from milliseconds to a date both in Java SDK 1.4.1 and Java 1.5.0 to see if there are differences in the way dates are calculated from milliseconds. It seems that there are differences when the system timezone is set to Europe/Berlin. The dates from 1.5.0 are one hour ahead of those from 1.4.1 in a certain week in May 1945 and a day in September 1945.
    This means that milliseconds that are generated from a date by using the Java 1.4.1 runtime and then stored are interpreted differently when they are retrieved when using java runtime 1.5.0, if they happen to be one of those days in 1945. This could cause discrepancies when an application is migrated to JDK 1.5.0.
    This is only a minor problem, but is there any way to know what caused these changes in SDK 1.5.0 and what these changes are? Is there historical data that the Sun implementation is based on to calculate dates from millisecond values?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Kind regards

    I found the following at "http://thedailywtf.com/forums/70146/ShowPost.aspx"
    In summer 1945, Berlin and the Soviet-occupied part of Germany observed a daylight savings time of two hours. Unfortunately, Sun's JRE 1.4 implementation of GregorianCalendar defines a maximum DST of one hour and, in non-lenient mode, rejects the 2 hours as invalid when recalculating all fields after the millisecond field is set.

    Paddy,
    There are a couple of ways to create a Word file.  One is to use the Report Generation Toolkit which includes vi's to create and edit Word documents.  Since you are associated with a university you may already have the toolkit.  The other way is to use ActiveX.  You should be able to find examples of both in the forums.  There may also be an example that shipped with LV.
    Here is one example to get you going http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/992

  • Implicit Conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed.

     Getting a odd error. This code was working perfectly before a SQLServer upgrade.
    The linked database is working, I'm able to pull up data from it in separate queries just fine.
    I'm getting the following error.
    Implicit conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query.

    It is not a good idea to use string dates for predicates in WHERE clauses.
    Use DATETIME or DATE in predicates.
    If you are not interested in the time part of DATETIME, use DATE datatype.
    Example:
    SELECT CONVERT(DATE, getdate());
    -- 2014-08-25

  • Batch level settings conversion from plant-to-plant to material-level

    If someone has worked on conversion of Batch level settings within SAP from plant-to-plant to material-level batch management, please let me know what are the challenges involved in doing this. Thanks.

    Check help !!!
    To change the batch level, you have to start a conversion program. This program first checks whether conversion is possible and outputs an error log containing all batch numbers that occur more than once at the new level. Now you need to manually transfer these batch records to batch numbers within Inventory Management using a transfer posting 'material to material'.
    If you change the level from plant level to a higher level, it is possible that batches with the same batch numbers in different plants are actually identical.  In this case, all you have to do is remove stocks (including previous period stocks) so that all batches with the same batch numbers, except one, can be reorganized.
    When you convert from plant level to material level, the material is then to be handled in batches in all plants in which it is defined.
    Standard settings
    In the standard delivery batches are uniquely defined at material level.
    Activities
    To change the batch level, proceed as follows:
    1. Choose the level at which you want your batches to be unique.
    2. Save the new settings and choose Back.
    3. Choose Batch level -> Conversion.
    4. If necessary, carry out the conversion in test mode first.
    Further notes
    Note that you cannot reset conversion from plant level to a higher level in the standard.
    If you create a client by copying an existing client, initially, there are no settings in the target client at batch level. The system makes the settings in the target client only when you have carried out an activity (maintaining master data or posting a goods movement, for example). The client level is not transported. If you copy a client with client level, you have to manually set the client level in the target system.
