    10 Q
    Duration as a timestamp? How odd, most people would store it
    as an integer. Or, if you want to build your own string, the syntax
    is {ts 'yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss'}. The seconds might not be required.
    In any event, use createodbcdatetime() for the value you want
    to put into your table.

    Error ERR-1024 Unable to run "function body returning text" validation.The call to 'to_date' is raising an exception when it tries to convert your date, standard PL/SQL exception handling takes over and the rest of your code is ignored.
    You could try:
    declare
    pragma exception_init(invalid_date,-01830);
    l_dummy date;
    Begin
    If :P4_END_DATE IS NOT NULL THEN
    l_dummy := to_date(:P4_END_DATE ,'DD-MON-YYYY') then
    END IF;
    exception
    when invalid_date then
    return 'END DATE should be in "DD-MON-YYYY" Format';
    End;
    but even that will not check that the user actually used your desired format - the to_date can be quite flexible e.g. accepting separators other than the '-' that you have declared. In fact, the above would only catch the user entering a 'date' that is shorter than the format string - changing the 'invalid_date' for 'others' would capture more (all!) exceptions.
    You probably want to look at using regular expressions to perform the format validation.

  • How do I get the date format of MM/DD/YYYY to be recognized in Numbers?

    I recently switched from Windows and Excel.  All the bank details that I export from my bank have dates formatted as mm/dd/yyyy.  Excel has no issues dealing with this but Numbers will not recognize the cell contents as a date.  Any help?

    I have similar problems with data copied & pasted from a banking web page into Numbers. I always first check to see that the cells are formatted as date & time, but that doesn't always fix the problem. The problem usually ends up being spaces before and/or after the numbers in a cell.

  • Trasnform current date to format MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss AM/PM

    Hi All,
    How do I transform current date to format MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss AM/PM?
    I am able to get the format MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss by using the standard date function. How do I get AM or PM to end of MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss??
    Thanx
    Navin

    Hi Navin,
    How AM/PM is added? In the sample values given its in 24 hrs notation. Are u sure you want to add AM/PM to this notation? or U want to change this 24 hrs notation into 12 hrs and add AM/PM?
    For converting into 12 hrs and appending AM/PM you can use this code:
    input a:
    int hr = Integer.parseInt(a.substring(11,13));
    String appendVal = "AM";
    if(hr > 12){
       hr = hr - 12;
       appendVal = "PM";
    } else if(hr == 12){
       appendVal = "PM";
    } else if(hr == 00){
       hr = hr + 12;
    Sting finalVal = a.substring(0,11) + String.ValueOf(hr) + a.substring(13,a.length()) + appendVal;
    return finalVal;

It says - Some open conversion requests still exists for the following ABAP data dictionary objects.To avoid inconsistencies and data losses you must process these conversions first.

    Hi,

    Report level:
    Try this in the column formula-
    Evaluate('TO_CHAR(%1,%2)' as character(30),"D5.Times"."Day Date",'MM/DD/YYYY')

  • Implicit Conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed.

     Getting a odd error. This code was working perfectly before a SQLServer upgrade.
    The linked database is working, I'm able to pull up data from it in separate queries just fine.
    I'm getting the following error.
    Implicit conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query.
    Invalid column name 'TotalDay'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
    can anyone spot the issue? I've tried sever variations of the same code, but still get the same thing.
    If I put this section in a query by it self it works just fine.
    ( DATEDIFF(ss,
    CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),( SELECT TOP ( 1 )
    TimeDate
    FROM [nav].AcsLog.dbo.EvnLog AS X3

    ),101),
    CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),( SELECT TOP ( 1 )
    TimeDate
    FROM [nav].AcsLog.dbo.EvnLog AS X4
    WHERE UDF2 = E.No_
    AND CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), X4.TimeDate, 101) = CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), @sdate, 101)
    ORDER BY TimeDate DESC
    ),101)) ) AS TotalDayBadge ,

    >ANDCONVERT(VARCHAR(10),X3.TimeDate,101)=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),@sdate,101)
    It is not a good idea to use string dates for predicates in WHERE clauses.
    Use DATETIME or DATE in predicates.
    If you are not interested in the time part of DATETIME, use DATE datatype.
    Example:
    SELECT CONVERT(DATE, getdate());
    -- 2014-08-25

  • Convert the date of string to datetime format 'MM/dd/yyyy' when the system date format is 'dd/MM/yyyy'.

    I need convert the date of string format 'MM/dd/yyyy' to datetime format 'MM/dd/yyyy' when the system date format is 'dd/MM/yyyy'.Since
    I need to search values based on date where my database datetime  is 'MM/dd/yyyy' format.

    In my opinion you should re-consider the assumption that the date picker returns a string. Maybe it is able to return a
    DateTime object directly instead of string. Then you will pass this value as a parameter of SQL query. This should work regardless of computer configuration.
    Otherwise, follow the previous string-based approaches.
