  • Regarding conversion of date in abap

    Hi All,
    while running my application I am not getting the date of birth in correct format.
    say for example i require the correct output i.e DOB as 01.01.1970 but i am getting the wrong output in this field as 19700101.so if there is any function module or any way to do the date conversion then give it i.e. how can I convert the date from string to date format.If any one knows the solution then revert me back.
    Thanking you All in advance.

    say your user setting format is mm.dd.yyyy
    now, data: v_date like sy-datum.
    move the data to V_date.
    write:/ v_date.
    as your user setting format is mm.dd.yyyy it displays as 01.01.1997 although internally it stores as 19970101

    Hi,

    After receive event, then call java script function "eventReceiver" and call "form.submit()".
    But .. PAI Logic in Java code doesn't called ...
    Where is my problme ?
    Help me ...
    Regards, Arnold.

    Hi Arnold,
    you should not do a form.submit yourself. Instead you can put a component called ExternalSubmit to your page:
    ExternalSubmit exSubmit = new ExternalSubmit("EX_SUBMIT"));
    exSubmit.setServerEventName("MyEvent");
    This results in a java script funtion on the page which is called "_htmlb_external_submit_". If you call this function the the form gets submitted and your event handler is called.

  • Setting and updating Date field in a jsp form

    Hi:
    I have a form (in jsp) where in I have a field for Date. The Date is entered in the form: 12/18/2002. I using beans to retrieve the form values and then pass to the program. THe date field is passed as String to the bean. The program changes the String to util date
    (assignment ===> name of bean)
    String strDate = assignment.getDueDate();
    java.util.Date adate = null;
    DateFormat fmt = DateFormat.getDateInstance(DateFormat.SHORT,Locale.US);
    try {
    adate = fmt.parse(strDate);
    System.out.println("Util date in Bo: "+adate);
         catch (ParseException e)
              System.out.println(e);
    and before inserting into database, it is changed from util.date to sql.date.
    long time = adate.getTime();
    java.sql.Date sqldate = new java.sql.Date(time);
    Until now everythign is working fine. On my way back, when i retrieve the sql.date from the database, I change it to util date:
    java.sql.Date sqlDate = rs.getDate("dueDate");
    java.util.Date uDate = sqlDate;
    and then covert this util date to String
    String strDate = uDate.toString();
    When I display this string date on my form... it is in the format
    2002-12-18, although i have inserted it in 12/18/2002 format.
    Can anyone help me since i want my date to appear on the form in the format I enter (12/18/2002) and not the 2002-12-18 format of database

  • Implicit Conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed.

     Getting a odd error. This code was working perfectly before a SQLServer upgrade.
    The linked database is working, I'm able to pull up data from it in separate queries just fine.
    I'm getting the following error.
    Implicit conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query.
    Invalid column name 'TotalDay'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
    can anyone spot the issue? I've tried sever variations of the same code, but still get the same thing.
    If I put this section in a query by it self it works just fine.
    ( DATEDIFF(ss,
    CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),( SELECT TOP ( 1 )
    TimeDate
    FROM [nav].AcsLog.dbo.EvnLog AS X3

    It is not a good idea to use string dates for predicates in WHERE clauses.
    Use DATETIME or DATE in predicates.
    If you are not interested in the time part of DATETIME, use DATE datatype.
    Example:
    SELECT CONVERT(DATE, getdate());
    -- 2014-08-25

  • Date time string from UME-SPML interface

    Hi,
    I am using the UME-SPML interface to manage users in SAP UME and using AS ABAP user management as the user store for UME.
    I have noticed a problem in the date time string returned in the SPML search response when I search for a user. When you search for a user, normally you get 3 date time strings for "validfrom", "validto" and "lastmodifydate".
    These are what have been returned in the SPML response:
    <attr name="lastmodifydate"><value>20101019030648Z</value></attr>
    <attr name="validfrom"><value>20101019010000Z</value></attr>
    <attr name="validto"><value>25001230010000Z</value></attr>
    When I check the same user with the user management administration console, I get these:
    Date of Account Creation: Oct 19, 2010 2:06:48 PM (Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales))
    Start Date of Account Validity: Oct 20, 2010 12:00:00 AM (Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales))
    End Date of Account Validity: Dec 31, 2500 12:00:00 AM (Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales))
    The timezone I am in is GMT10 (Australia Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales)) and now we in day light saving so effectively we are in GMT11 now.
    You can see that the datetime string for "lastmodifydate" correctly reflects what's shown on user management administration console.
    But the datetime strings for "validfrom" and "validto" seems to get the conversion wrong: both seem to be using 12 hour format instead of 24 hour format. (2010 10 19 01 00 00Z should be 2010 10 19 13 00 00Z and 2500 12 30 01 00 00Z should be 2500 12 30 13 00 00Z)(I have put in a space in the string to break up the date time components)
    Anyone has any idea what went wrong here?
    Regards,
    GG

    Also search service.sap.com for the term "sy-zonlo".
    Personally I am a member of the [flat earth society|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth_Society] when it get to this topic, because it causes no end of problems.
    Most customers simply stop operations on 31.12.xxxx or before, or alternately use reporting tools to make corrections afterwards.
    In the security realm, SAP also respects server side timestamp tolerances (only a few seconds are allowed).
    Time is server time in my books. Some people work late, others early - and there is nothing you can control to stop a customer in the US from placing an order via a system in Japan anyway.
    Anyway, this is probably a program error with the 12 hour format in the component software or possibly the API interface to user management in your release so you should open a customer message with SAP (my best guess).
    Cheers,

    10 Q
    Duration as a timestamp? How odd, most people would store it
    as an integer. Or, if you want to build your own string, the syntax
    is {ts 'yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss'}. The seconds might not be required.
    In any event, use createodbcdatetime() for the value you want
    to put into your table.

  • Pass data from servlet to jsp using sendRedirect

    Hi,
    I am passing data from servlet to jsp using forward method of request dispatcher but as it doesn't change the url it is creating problems. When ever user refreshes the screen(browser refresh) it's re-loading both servlet and jsp, which i don't want to happen. I want only the jsp to be reloaded.
    Can I pass data from servlet to jsp using sendRedirect in this case. I also want to pass some values from servlet to jsp but without using query string. I want to set some attributes and send to jsp just like we do for forward method of request dispatcher.
    Is there any way i can send data using attributes(without using query string) using sendRedirect? Please let me know

    sendRedirect is meant as a true redirect. meaning
    you can use it to redirect to urls not in your
    context....with forward you couldn't pass information
    to jsps/servlets outside your own context.Actually, you can:
    getServletContext().getContext("/other").getRequestDispatcher("/path/to/servlet").forward(request, response)I think the issue here is that the OP would like to have RequestDispatcher.forward() also update the address in the client's browser. That's not possible, AFAIK. By the time the request is forwarded, the browser has already determined the URL of the servlet, and the only I know of way to have the browser change the URL to the forwarded Servlet/JSP is to send a Location: header (i.e. sendRedirect()). Remember that server-side dispatching is transparent to the client. Maybe there's some tricky stuff you can do with JavaScript to change the address in the address bar without reloading the page?

  • Bad date format string in Crystal 2013

    I have a report that I wrote a formula to convert the date from a number to a date recognizable by the end user. It works fine. The user then wanted to add another field to the same report. Same type of deal, so I copied the first formula into a new formula for the second conversion and simply changed the file name that it was pulling from. When I check the formula, it comes back no errors found, but when I insert it into the report, I get an error that says "Bad date format string" it's the exact same formula that runs fine in the field next to it. What am I  missing? The exact formula as used is;
    date(mid(totext({File.name},0,' '),5,2)+'/'+ right(totext({File.Name},0,' ' ),2) + '/' + left(totext({File.Name},0,' '),4)) It is intended to take it from 20140405 to 04/05/2014.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. As I am new to Crystal reports and by no means a database administrator by trade.
    Thanks
    Bob V.

    hi Bob,
    you can use something like the following
    stringvar s:= '20140405';
    date(s[1 to 4] + '/' + s[5 to 6] + '/' + s[7 to 8])
    and if you want to be safe and use a check, then you can use something this
    stringvar s:= '20140405';
    s:= s[1 to 4] + '/' + s[5 to 6] + '/' + s[7 to 8];
    if isdate(s) then date(s);

  • How to Get Blob data(In String Form) using OCCI

    Hello frnds,
    I am new to OCCI,so i hvnt that much of master in that side.
    I have one problem while handling BLOb data.
    How to convert binary form of SDO_GEOMETRY data into string format. I am able to convert data by using PLSQL block,but its take so much time to execute.So performance is the main issue.So if there is any API in OCCI which convert directly blob data into string format.
    Thanx in advance for your support,
    Nilesh.

    Have you tried reading "http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28390/lobs.htm#BABDEGJD" ? This explains how you can read from BLOBs into a C vector (or C++ vector of chars).

  • Performance issue while using data type 'STRING'.

    Hello All,
    I have created a table for storing values of different features coming under a particular country. Since the last field 'Value field' have to hold text upto 800characters for some features, i have used the data type 'String' with character length specified as 1000. I am able to store values upto 1000characters using this. Also, the table has to hold lots and lots of value, and it will increase in future also.
    Since i have mentioned the data type as 'String', I have one doubt whether this will affect the performance. Because length of most of the values in my value field is less than 75characters and in some case only it will exceed 700characters. So, my question is whether the 'String' data type will allocate the length which am specifying in the table for each entries, though the values entering is less than the specified length.
    For example, if the value of my value field is 'Very High Complexity' which is of length 20characters, will the space allocation be reduced to 20 or will it be still 1000characters?
    Hope someone can clarify my doubt.
    Thanks In Advance,
    Shino

    Hi Shino,
    Well it is possible to store using STRING or LCHR in the transparent tables. There are some underlyning facts here:-
    1. You can only have one such field per table
    2. You cannot view them in the se11 / se16 table content browser
    3. You will need to maintain an additional field for storing the length of the STRING or LCHR field.
    Regarding the performance:
    even though ABAP allows storing STRING or LCHR type fields in the transparent tables but as soon as the lenght of the field crosses 255 chars it is not advisable to store it directly in the transperant tables.
    You should store that field in the knowledge repository and only a pointer to the knowledge repository in the transperant table field.
    Anyways, Since you have only one field with such a requirement then i would suggest you use STRING instead of LCHR as in LCHR you will have to mandatorily assign a length (like 1000) so even if you are storing only 20 chars or 300 chars the system will reserve a slot of 1000 chars; this is not with string as in case of string everything would be dynamic.
    The result being that the reading time increases in case of LCHR.
    I Hop this answered your question.
    Regards,
    Sagar.

    I'm getting the following errors:
    COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2Exception: [IBM][CLI Driver][DB2/NT] SQL0180N
    The syntax of the representation of a date/time of day value as character sequence is false. .SQLSTATE=22007

    I'm pretty sure it won't understand what date.toString() returns. If you know what format the database understands, you do it like this:
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MMM-yy"); // e.g. 18-Apr-02
    String datestring = sdf.parse(date);
    and use that instead of date in your sql string. Some databases understands it if you do
    "to_date('18-Apr-02')"
    so you could include that in your sql string as well..
    You could also try to make it a java.sql.Date and hope your jdbc driver knows how to convert it to a string that the database understands if you don't know the format:
    con = getConnection();
    PreparedStatement ps = con.prepareStatement("select date1 from table1 where date1 <= ?");
    ps.setDate(new java.sql.Date(date.getTime()));
    ResultSet rs = s.executeQuery(sql);

  • Flash Charts - How to manipulate the #data# replacement string in XML

    I have a problem with the XML file for a flash chart. I am trying to display a 2dColumn chart of an SQL query with the general form:
    select null link, x as name, sum(y) as value from z group by (x);
    this generates multiple rows, which are displayed as a bar in the chart. So far so good. The problem is, that each row is defined as a block in the chart, but only one name entry is created "value", which is displayed in the legend of the chart.
    I can display the block names on the x-axis of the chart, however, I can't rotate them, so that they don't overlap in the display, which I would be able to do with names. I assume, that the blocks are defined in the #data# replacement string of the XML file. I would like to change the generated XML replacement string from the SQL to make each row selected a different name, and only have one block ("value").
    What would be the easiest way to achieve this?

    user587996,
    There's no way to manipulate the #data# replacement directly, but you could generate your own XML (see Re: Apex changing nulls to zeroes when creating Flash Charts for one way to do it).
    When you say "I can't rotate them, so that they don't overlap in the display" -- have you tried the Labels Rotation chart attribute, or is that not working?
