  • Conversion of string to BLOB format

    Hi,
    Scenario is proxy to JDBC:
    I have a requirement where my PFD file name is maintained in one ABAP R3 table and I need to convert the PDF file name to BLOB format.
    Is there any function module available in R3 for converting to BLOB data type. or java mapping is required in graphical mappping for this conversion.
    My pdf file name is:
    SHELL_INC_123456789012_851000000005290_DE_04_2008.pdf
    Thnx
    Chirag

    Hi Chirag,
    I don't think there is any FM in ABAP is written for this purpose. you should need to write an UDF. Also my concern is that "where is the PDF file located"? If the answer is "on a file system accessible to the Oracle database" Then you can use directory objects and the DBMS_LOB package. It would look something like this:
    as SYS user do:
    -- assume the PDF files are in /data/documents filesystem directory
    create or replace directory pdfdir as '/data/documents';
    grant read on directory pdfdir to <USER>;
    as USER do:
    create table mydocs (id integer primary key, doc blob);
    declare
    bf bfile;
    b blob;
    src_offset integer := 1;
    dest_offset integer := 1;
    begin
    ' insert a new blob and return it to local variable
    insert into mydocs values(1, empty_blob()) returning doc into b;
    ' open the bfile for file "summary.pdf"
    bf := bfilename('PDFDIR', 'summary.pdf');
    dbms_lob.loadBlobFromFile(b, bf, dbms_lob.lobmaxsize, dest_offset, src_offset);
    ' done
    commit;
    end;
    I assumed that you are working with 2 different machines, one client, one server.
    If you are working on a single machine, there may be a simple bug in the code.
    try adding the line
    dbms_lob.open(bf, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
    between the calls to bfilename() and loadBlobFromFile()
    Also if you want to do this using java then please have a look in this link.

  • Plain raw format - DNG conversion

    Dear All,
    Would you guide me regarding to converting plain raw format file to DNG file?
    <definition>
    1. plain raw format file
    - the file is composed of Bayer pixel array. For example, 5M pixel raw file is composed of sequential 2592 x 1920 pixels, each pixel is represented by 2byte value. file size will be 2592*1920*2 bytes. The start pixel may be one of Gr or Gb or R or B
    2. tuning information file
    - the files below may be provided for enhanced DNG raw image processing
    - start pixel information: Gr or Gb or R or B
    - 4channel lens shading correction
    - noise profiling
    - white balance R/B channel gain
    - color correction matrix
    - gamma table
    <what is conversion guide?>
    1. Is there any available program or utility for converting this plain raw format file to DNG?
    2. if not available, how can I achieve the conversion using available toolkit?
    3. any other idea?
    Thanks in advance.

    I don't think that any program exists that will do that.
    You can however use the DNG SDK to do what you want: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/dng/dng_sdk.html

  • Poor raw conversion from Fujifilm X100 .raf format in Lightroom 3 and 4

    I'm seeing very poor results when doing raw conversion from Fujifilm X100 .raf format. Who can I contact about this? Is there anything I can do?
    See below for what is supposed to be a white curtain, lit by stage lighting. It results in a blown out blue channel, serious loss of detail, and very ugly gradient.
    (Lightroom 4.2, Camera Raw 7.2 on LEFT  --- Fujifilm X100 in-camera jpg on RIGHT)
    And for more detail:
    (Lightroom 4.2, Camera Raw 7.2 on TOP  --- Fujifilm X100 in-camera jpg on BOTTOM)
    (Lightroom 4.2, Camera Raw 7.2 on LEFT --- Fujifilm X100 in-camera jpg on RIGHT)

    The blue light is so intense that it is, or almost is, saturating the sensor.
    The camera’s built-in raw conversion handles this by shifting the color to cyan—clipping the blue and allowing the green to contribute more.  I doubt there was cyan lighting in the scene, only blue.
    Adobe does not shift the hue, but this makes the blue seem over saturated.  Adobe’s conversion may be more colorimetrically correct, but less pleasing in this case of intense lighting that the sensor cannot accurately record.
    It is a difference in camera profile used between the camera and Adobe.  Since Adobe does not supply camera-match profiles for much more than Nikon and Canon cameras, you’re not going to be able to fix things other than managing the over-saturation using HSL or WB or other things like lower-vibrance, higher saturation.
    You could try making your own camera profile using an X-Rite Color-Checker Passport or the color-checker and the Adobe DNG Profile Editor:

  • String to DATS format conversion in XI.

    Hello Experts,
    I am using Powerbuilder system to get my Legacy data.In Powerbuilder Date needs to be supplied in STRING format.So I am giving String Format (dd-mmm-yyyy).
    However, at SAP end, Date needs to be in DATS format (Standard SAP yyyymmdd) .
    In Message Mapping I have given I/P structure as String and O/P structure as DATS format. When I test mapping in XI, it gives me Parseable error.
    Can anybody tell me, is there any way in XI to convert from String to DATS format so that I do not get Parseable error.
    Please Help!!!!

    Lokesh,
    With XI there is a date transformation function under date category there you need to provide source date format and target date format..
    I have used the same for fetching the data from oracle..and posting into SAP..it works fine..
    Try this ..this will solve ur problem....you just need to see what is the exact date format used by powerbuilder internally...

    Hi ,
       I have a table with one of the column(EmpHiredate) datatype is char(10). It has value like "20141023". I need to display this value as date format(dd/mm/yyyy) in report.
    Following methods i tried in textbox expression but no luck.
    =Format(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,"dd/MM/yyyy")
    =Cdate(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value)
    Error:
    [rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The Value expression for the textrun ‘EmpHireDate.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: Conversion from string "20041023  " to type 'Date' is not valid.
    Is it possible to convert string to date using SSRS textbox expression ? Can anyone help me with the solution.
    Thanks,
    Kittu

    Hi Jmcmullen,
         Found one more issue on the same. I have one value like "00000000" for the column(EmpHiredate)
    , when i use above expression values(ex:"20141023")
    are displaying in dd/MM/yyyy format in report except value like "00000000" and giving following error:
    [rsRuntimeErrorInExpression] The Value expression for the textrun ‘EmpHireDate.Paragraphs[0].TextRuns[0]’ contains an error: Conversion from string "0000/00/00" to type 'Date' is not valid.
    Even i tried to pass its original value("00000000") as below but no luck.
    =IIF(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value = "00000000","00000000",Format(CDATE(MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,1,4) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,5,2) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,7,2)),"dd/MM/yyyy"))
    Also tried this:
    =IIF(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value = "00000000","2000/10/21",Format(CDATE(MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,1,4) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,5,2) + "/" + MID(Fields!EmpHireDate.Value,7,2)),"dd/MM/yyyy"))
    Please Suggest.

  • RAW formatted DVDs

    I was given the DVD-r's from a Sony Handycam to download into iMovie. When I insert the DVD, I am told I am inserting a blank disk. After some research, this DVD is in RAW format which Apple doesn't recognize. How can I convert it into a format I can download?
    Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    You'll probably need a third party application like "ReadDVD" , macnuwbie.
    I've only used it to handle DVD-RAM discs recorded on a "standalone" player, myself, but it can also handle the "VR" format often used in DVD based cameras.
    Its actually the format of the disc, rather than the format of the files, that causes the primary problem here.
    If you run into further problems with file conversion then VisualHub does a nice job. MPEG StreamClip is another option
    (Edit - it seems as if you may actually be able to read them simply using Toast these days - see http://www.mcs.sdsmt.edu/mcgough/public/SonyiMac.html )
    Personally I wouldn't be too happy about putting 8cm discs into any Mac slot loading drive, even though some may be able to deal with them. The early iMac G3 slot loaders were meant to be able to handle them, but many ran into problems and Apple stopped suggesting they were compatible. If you have a tray loading drive, of course, its another matter.
    Cheers

  • RAW formats not supported

    Is it possible to know Apple has the intention to support file formats like the ones of the Olympus SP series? I own an Olympus SP-350 (it came out one year ago) but MacOS doesn't still support it (i.e. neither iPhoto nor Aperture). Since Adobe supports the format since last january (and now it's november) I almost lost my hopes about. I like Aperture and I'd surely buy it but... for the moment it's useless for my camera.
    PowerMac G5 dual; MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    I agree it's frustrating not to know whether Aperture ever will support your specific camera's raw format. In addition to various DSLRs, I use an Epson R-D1 (a professional rangefinder camera using the Leica M lensmount, fairly popular with wedding and documentary photographers) and the only thing that's stopping me from standardizing on Aperture is that I don't know if Epson's .ERF format will ever will be supported. (Having to convert to 16-bit TIFFs seems to me to negate most of the advantages of using raw-based management software.)
    I understand that unlike Adobe (which I've read licenses an open-source library for much of its raw support) Apple fine-tunes and optimizes its own raw conversion code for specific cameras, and I agree that it makes more sense for Apple to concentrate its engineering resources on the most popular DSLRs and digital backs.
    But I think it might benefit a lot of users if Apple would periodically publish a "roadmap" indicating current camera models which it tentatively intends to support at some future date.

  • "Conversion to String failed"  When attempting to call rs.getString()

    Hello All,
    I'm getting a "Conversion to String failed" exception being thrown from oracle jdbc when I attempting to call the rs.getString(1) method on a column type of DATE.
    During investigations we've found the following:
    1. The query is fine, and is performing a "select * from table".
    2. I see this problem when using 9i database (v 9.2.0.7) with 9i jdbc drivers (v9.2.0.7).
    3. Strangely enough, if I use 10g jdbc drivers with the 9i database this problem goes away, and naturally I don't see this problem at all using a 10g driver working against a 10g database.
    4. Grabbing the DATE value using the getDate() instead of getString() API works just fine in 9i.
    5. The 9i rs.getString() API call will work with some date values in the database and not with others.
    6. The data placed into the DATE column in question could have been placed there using different driver type from the 9i.
    So, the 9i getString() API seems to be a problem.
    At this point, based upon points 5 and 6 above, I'm thinking there is a bug in the oracle 9i jdbc drivers that is unable to convert DATE type data using the getString() API if the data was initially placed into the database using a different driver type. But, this would mean that the format of the data in the database would be different depending upon the means of getting the data there in the first place (which doesn't make much sense).
    Here is the pertinent Stack Trace:
    java.sql.SQLException: Conversion to String failed
    at oracle.sql.Datum.stringValue(Datum.java:173)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.ScrollableResultSet.getString(ScrollableResultSet.java:684)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleResultSet.getString(OracleResultSet.java:1549)
    at com.revenuesolutionsinc.dali.sql.DALResultSet.getString(DALResultSet.java:325)
    Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Doug Newcomb

    Doug,
    Pardon me for stating the obvious, but is there a
    reason why you cannot use method "getDate()" instead
    of method "getString()"?
    For your information, you can report bugs via the
    MetaLink
    Web site.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.Thanks for the reply Avi,
    The main reason is that we've got mountains of code that would need to be refactored. Also, the getString() method worked fine for over a year.
    So we are looking towards finding out why this is happening before making the decision to refactor.
    I will be placing a TAR with Oracle on Monday, but I thought I'd try to find out if anyone else has run into a similar problem.

  • Regional settings impact JavaScript Number conversion to String in applet

    Environment:
    XP, IE6 and IE7, JDK 1.6.0_13,1.6.0_10,1.6.0_7, Apache
    Hi,
    We recently converted our application from the MS JVM to Sun JVM 1.6 and have since had numerous problems with a user's regional setting impacting the application's behaviour.
    The application is using an applet, passing JavaScript Number values to an Applet where the input argument in the Java function is declared as a String.
    We have users with various regional settings, most don't impact the application, but we have found problems when the regional settings are set to "French (France)" or "German (Germany)".
    With "French (France)" JavaScript Number values >=10000000 get truncated to a Java String value of just the first character.e.g. 10000000 is converted to "1", 200000000 is converted to "2".
    With "German (Germany)" a trailing "0" is added to the converted String, and for values >=10000000 we get the String value with an additional 6 "0"s and then 2 additional "0"s as the input Number value is increments by each power of 10.
    A simple example follows.
    Any help understanding why this is happening and any coding solution would be appreciated.
    The default number format for the various regional settings seems to be impacting the implicit conversion to String in LiveConnect.
    We can re-code to convert the Number value to a String in the JavaScript before calling the applet, but this involves significant re-coding of the application.
    We also have a workaround to verify that navigator.userLanguage returns one of the list of supported languages and exit the application if the language is unsupported.
    Thanks

    </script>
    </body>
    </html>
    </html>

    I have found a workaround by setting the locale in the applet to a locale that does perform implicit Number to String conversion correctly.
    e.g.
    public void init() {
    try {
    Locale.setDefault(Locale.US);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.err.println("Failed to set Locale, Caught Exception: " + e.getMessage());
    and adding this line to the java.policy to prevent "access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission user.language write)" errors.
    permission java.util.PropertyPermission "user.language", "read, write";
