Convert Access Module to SQL Function - Hex To Dec conversion

I need to convert an Access Module to a SQL Function but not sure how to successfully accomplish this.
The module has several different functions to convert hexadecimal numbers to decimal and vice versa. I am not sure if I needed to break out each module function into a seperate function in SQL or not. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is the actual module that needs to be converted:
Public Function MEID_DecToHex(mMEIDDec As String) As String
    'Dim mMEIDDec As String
    Dim mManNum As Double
    Dim mSerialNum As Double
    Dim mMEIDHex As String

    Dim mSerialHex As String
    'mMEIDDec = "268435457304109828"
    '*** Check MEID digits, make sure it is 18 digits else return invalid
    If Len(mMEIDDec) = 18 Then
        '*** 18 digit decimal code: 1st 10 digits is for the Manufacturer and last 8 digits is for the Serial Number
        mManNum = Left(mMEIDDec, 10)
        mSerialNum = Right(mMEIDDec, 8)
        '*** Convert MEID Dec to Hex

        mSerialHex = DecToHex(mSerialNum)
        mSerialHex = fntPad(mSerialHex, "0", 6)

    void convertAction(ActionEvent event)
    int inputNumber, outputNumber;
    String inputStr = new String(inputNumber.getText());
    String inputStr = outputNumber.trim();
    try
    inputNumber = Integer.parseInt(inputStr);
    if(decimal.isSelected())
    inputNumber = Integer.parseInt(inputStr,10);
    outputStr = Integer.toHex(inputNumber);
    else
    inputNumber = Integer.parseInt(inputStr,16);
    outputStr = Integer.toString(inputNumber,10);
    outputNum.setText("" + outputNumber);
    outputNum.setVisible(true);
    catch(NumberFormatException e)
    these are the errors i am receiving:

  • Pl/sql function body returning SQL query - Print function

    Hello all,
    I have pl/sql function body returning SQL query for my reports for my new project that I am developing. We dont have any BI tool or anything for APEX so we use Oracle reports to get the same reports to be printed in PDF format. I had been using SQL function for Reports all these days and grabbing the data using SQL query was easy in Oracle reports. But this time we had atleast 8 fields in search criteria and hence I thouhgt PL/sql function body returning SQL query could be something easy to handle that scenario. We have 11 such reports in our project. Now when we tried to use the same PL/sql function to oracle reports , I was told by one of our Oracle reports expert, that we have to write it into functions and use it in SQL query to get the Reports in Oracle reports. Is there any Easy way to convert the same Pl/SQL function or get a PDF format of the same report in APEX without going thru the much pains of rewriting the whole SQL Query.
    thank you

  • Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB was unable to convert a value to the data type requested for column 5

    Hi All,
    I'm still struggling with the same cube and this is my 3rd post and once i fix some thing the other breaks. Please forgive me. When i process my cube i'm getting the error:
    Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB was unable to convert a value to the data type requested for column 5.
    My question is when the error says column 5 (is it the column 5 in the DSV?) or is it the column 5 in the DIMENSION list?
    My next question is the DSV Query works perfectly fine , so why this error in cube? This is what i have in the query in DSV.
    Please need help. In the below query both the column 5 (ArEASSIGNED TO VENDOR) in the CUBE and underlying table have the same data type and length VARCHAR(4000). Why is the process failing still?

    I just counted the columns from the top:
    1) compliancejoin, 2) mowingsector, 3) caseclosedflag, 4) casehasvendorinfo, 5) mowingstatus, 6) assignedtovendor.
    I see now that your subject line talks about column 6, but you say column 5 in body of your original post.
    I don't know anything about cubes, but apparently there is some mapping problem when you run it from SSAS. (I assume it is SSAS, a part of the product I'm entirely ignorant of.) I figured that if you had got tripped by the zero-based numbering, you
    might be staring on the wrong column.

  • Errors in the back-end database access module. OLE DB was unable to convert a value to the data type requested for column 6.

    Hi All,
    I'm still struggling with the same cube and this is my 3rd post and once i fix some thing the other breaks.

    I see now that your subject line talks about column 6, but you say column 5 in body of your original post.
    I don't know anything about cubes, but apparently there is some mapping problem when you run it from SSAS. (I assume it is SSAS, a part of the product I'm entirely ignorant of.) I figured that if you had got tripped by the zero-based numbering, you
    might be staring on the wrong column.

  • PL/SQL Function to convert fields & set max length

    I am having a problem with the following assignment:
    Write a stored PL-SQL function called namefct that will convert two varchar2 fields (first and last names) into the format: lastname, firstname with a maximum length of 10 chars. If the combined size of the two names is greater than 10 characters, you will issue an error message indicating the name has been shortened to 10 characters and return only the first ten characters, otherwise return the entire name. Test the namefct function by using the staff table created in Part 1 (above). Turn in: the SQL statements to build the function, execute the sample code and the resulting output.
    This is the start of my attempt, excluding the error message that is to be issued:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION namefct (fname VARCHAR2, lname VARCHAR2) IS
    BEGIN
    column "full name" format a10;
    SELECT namefct(fname, lname) as "full name" from staff;
    END namefct
    Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated, since my Professor seems unwilling to assist me. Thanks!

    Write a stored PL-SQL function called namefct that
    will convert two varchar2 fields (first and last
    names) into the format: lastname, firstname with a
    maximum length of 10 chars. If the combined size of
    the two names is greater than 10 characters, you will
    issue an error message indicating the name has been
    shortened to 10 characters and return only the first
    ten characters, otherwise return the entire name.
    Test the namefct function by using the staff table
    created in Part 1 (above). Turn in: the SQL
    statements to build the function, execute the sample
    code and the resulting output.Firstly you need to consider what you have already been taught as you need to ensure that you code your function according to the purpose of the assignment. i.e. are you supposed to be demonstrating the use of returning values in a function or are you supposed to be demonstrating the use of exception handling etc.
    The main tricky bit with this assignment is the requirement to show an error message and still return a value. If you were to just raise an exception with the error message (e.g. raise application error) then you won't be able to actually return a value. Because it's a function and not a procedure that has been specified you aren't returning the value in an OUT parameter which would have made passing the value back and raising an exception easier.
    So, the only real way to have a function and allow it to show an error message would be something like...
    SQL> ed

  • Setting Oracle Permissions for file access from a pl/sql function

    I have a pl/sql function that calls a java method which moves a
    file from a directory to another.
    Since we are using Linux, Oracle wants some permissions.
    Those permissions are set using:
    call dbms_java.grant_permission(USER, 'java.io.FilePermission',
    FILE, permission)
    OK, i want to use this in my pl/sql function, but it doesn't
    work.
    My function looks like something like this:
    -- some pl/sql code
    dbms_java.grant_permission(someUSER, 'java.io.FilePermission',
    sourceFILE, 'write');
    dbms_java.grant_permission(someUSER, 'java.io.FilePermission',
    destFILE, 'write');
    flag := move(sourceFILE, destFILE);
    -- flag is for 1 -> done and 0 -> error
    -- some more code ...
    The problem is the lines of
    dbms_java.grant_permission(someUSER, 'java.io.FilePermission',
    sourceFILE, 'write');
    do not work!
    When i grant permissions manually in sql plus it works great,
    but when i do it from the function it does not work!
    Any ideas anyone?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    The command :
    dbms_java.grant_permission
    (someUSER, 'java.io.FilePermission',sourceFILE, 'write');
    is right.
    Open sqlplus
    Connect as sys or system
    type :
    execute dbms_java.grant_permission
    (someUSER, 'java.io.FilePermission',sourceFILE, 'write');
    commit;
    try to compile again your procedure...does it work now ?

  • How to find listing of modules which has used xyz PL/SQL function?

    Hi,
    How I can find the list of forms/reports which has used xyz pl/sql function?
    I want to delete a pl/sql function but before that I would like to
    make sure this function is not being used by any forms/report.
    Thanks for your help!!

  • For each row of a table call a pl/sql function

    Hi,
    i have a search form in adf like this:
    parameter1:___
    parameter2:____
    buttonSearch
    Table with results
    field1 field2 field3
    row1 ------ --------- -------
    row2 ------ --------- -------
    row3 ------ --------- -------
    The user inputs the parameters 1 and 2 then press buttonSearch and the query execute and returns rows 1 to 3.
    What i need is for each row call pl/sql function and passed the parameter 1 and 2 and field 1 to 3 (plsql function recives 5 parameters (parameter1, parameter2, field1 , field2 and field3) )
    my buttonSearch call a java class that execute ExecuteWithParamters method.
    I create the call to my plsql function on Application module class and then export as a java interface.
    So i have the function to use in the viewcontroller layer, but i don't know where to use it, and how to pass the paramters: the parameter 1 and 2 that user inputs and the row fields.....
    any ideas....
    thanks!!

    Hi,
    for this you need to call the PLSQL function upon table rendering, which means that you need a field in the table referencing a managed bean. In the managed bean you can use #{row} and resolve it using a ValueExpression. #{row} gives you access to the current rendered row (this is why you need to do it when the table renders) and thus allows you to call getAttribute(name) to get the values of field 1 - 3. The search field value you should get through the bindings reference (assuming the search form uses ADF). Then you create an operation binding for the executeWithParameters and call operationBindingName.getParamsMap().put(argname, argvalue); on it.
    Frank
    Ps.: I am concerned about the performance you get and wonder if it isn't possible to create a transient attribute that executes the function and displays the results. As I understand, the search parameters are only to filter the result set, which you still can do

  • SQL Functions Sintax

    LabVIEW 8.5 and Database Connectivity Toolkit and Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider
    I have built the DB structure using the MS ACCESS 2003. One of it´s fileds, I have defined as Short Date, as I had beleived that I was going to get just the date, for instance, 06/07/2007, but instead of this I get the day, 06/07/2007 plus the time, 12:24:34, all together 06/07/2007 12:24:34
    My two questions :
    1) how to store in the date base, just the date, no the time
    2) the SQL Function syntax to display just the date. I thought the correct sintax was : Select SUBSTR(xxx,0,10) from Table. Where xxx is the name of the field in the Table, 0 is the first character of the string xxx and it´s length
    Thanks
    Simbani

    To answer your direct questions:
    1) The "Date/Time" data type is similar to the smalldatetime data type in SQL Server. This stores time information. Can't change this. If you only want to store date information then you need to make your column's datatype to be of character-type. I think "Text" is what Access 2003 uses. Of course, this means you lose anything related to dealing with that column as a date.
    2) If Access 2003 follows the same syntax as SQL Server's T-SQL, the SUBSTR won't work with a column that is a date/time data type. That function would only work with strings. This means you have to first convert the column value to a string. I know that in SQL Server's T-SQL the CAST and CONVERT functions would be used. Have no idea what they would be in Access 2003, so you'll need to check the manual.

  • Interactive Reports and PL/SQL Functions

    Hi,
    Am new to the interactive reports, and it appears to be I can only use a single SELECT statement to populate the report.
    I need to convert some older reports to the new interactive reports, but these are populated using PL/SQL functions, as the WHERE clause is built up depending on the selection of items on the web page.
    How can I replicate this with the new interactive reports? Have used CASE statements within a SELECT statement before, can I also use these in a WHERE clause as well?
    Regards
    Simon

    To my knowledge, currently the only way to use Interactive Reports is on a static query. And unfortunately you can't use CASE statements in the WHERE clause of a query, only in the select list.
    The way I would (and have) attacked this is to:
    1. Write the base static query as the basis of the interactive report
    2. Access the interactive report in while logged in as a developer
    3. Build a filter (or set of filters) and save the report. You have the choice of saving it as a named report or as the default report.
    This gives the user one to many filter sets they can use as a starting point and tweak, and gives them examples as to how they can and should use the interactive filtering.

  • PL/SQL function to read a string of characters into an array

    I was wondering if there is an easier way than using the substr function multiple times. Here is the example:
    Suppose you have a varchar2 variable that contains the word 'Apple'. The function should take it and produce an array. We would invoke it like this:
    <what data structure?> a := stringunpackerfunction(x);
    // x is the varchar2 containing 'Apple'.
    The resulting a would be such that a[0] is 'A', a[1] is 'p', a[2] is 'p', a[3] is 'l' and a[4] is 'e'.
    If there is no direct function to do this in a single invocation, is there a function to simply read a string of characters and return 'the next character'?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Srini

    There is a procedure out there called PS_PARSE which takes a string and converts to an array provided with an identified separator. Works for us pretty well.
    I just grabbed this off of google. I am presuming this should work fine. It has been sometime since we implemented ours that I forget if there were any additional modifications that we made. I think there was one regarding the size of the string that could be handled. I forget precisely. Anyways... take a peek at it. Its makes things easy in that your logic is pretty streamlined.

    ||               next atomic starts at the next delimiter. Any letters or

  • Convert PLSQL to T-SQL

    Hi!
    Does anyone know a good conversion tool to convert PLSQL to T-SQL?
    I am working with Oracle 11gR1 and MS SQL Server 2005. I would like to convert the existing
    procedures, functions, packages etc. to T-SQL.
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    I have been tasked with taking over a new website which had a database written in
    MySql (I think anyway).  ....  My question is how do I import this into a Sql Server database?
    Hello John,
    If you can get access to the MySQL database, then you can use the free Microsoft tool SQL Server Migration Assistant for MySQL (MySQLToSQL) to migrate the database to MS
    SQL Server.

  • Convert OpenSQL to Native SQL

    Does someone know of a function module that will accept a SQL statement in OpenSQL format, and convert it to Native SQL (Oracle) format?
    We cannot turn on a trace in our system.
    Thanks.
