ThanksDate in Oracle is always stored in format that it recognizes and not in the format that you ask it for. Hence, if you are not able to see some information or in a different format, then it is because of your Display settings.
Date format as displayed on your client follows the format as specified by NLS_DATE_FORMAT.
See, how the date format is rendered.
select sysdate from dual;
SYSDATE
26-FEB-13
alter session set nls_date_format = 'DD-Mon-YYYY HH24:MI:SS';
select sysdate from dual;
SYSDATE
26-Feb-2013 07:13:07You can change the NLS_DATE_FORMAT into the format that you want to.
alter session set nls_date_format = 'Mon/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS';
select sysdate from dual;
SYSDATE

  • Converting Dates from dd/mm/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy

    This one is really doing my head in.  I have a Date Picker on a userform that places the selected date into a textbox as dd/mm/yyy.
    I have taken that textbox value and put it into a function to split it to days, months etc and it is definitely stored as dd/mm/yyyy but, when I move that value to a cell in a worksheet it converts it to mm/dd/yyyy even though the cell has been formatted
    to be dd/mm/yyyy.  I place the value in the worksheet using:
    With Sheets("Engine")
         NextRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row + 1
         .Cells(NextRow, 1).Value = tbPayDate.Value
    End With
    Any help would be appreciated.
    BHend

    The problem is you are inserting the text box content as text and not as a date. Convert the text value to a date and it should conform to the formatting in the cell.
    .Cells(NextRow, 1).Value = CDate(tbPayDate.Text)

  • OWB 10gR1 Convert Date format (mm-dd-yyyy) to (yyyy-mm-dd)

    Hi All,
    In OWB 10gR1, I have flatfiles with Date fields having the format (mm-dd-yyyy). I want to load this data into the Staging table in (yyyy-mm-dd) format. How could I do this conversion in my staging mapping ?
    Using external tables is not an option.
    An detailed answer will be extremely helpful.
    Thanks community.

    Wich is this field's datatype in database? Is it date or char? If you are going to store it as a date datatype, you don't have to worry about the date format.
    Have you tried using the Expression Operator to perform the date string conversion in your mapping? Sorry about this lame drawing, but I think it will help you understand:
    source_table ------------ALL_COLUMNS_EXCEPT_DATE_DATATYPE-------TARGET_TABLE
                 |                                                 |
                 +-------EXPR{TO_DATE(DATE_FIELD, 'DATE_FORMAT')}--+In this example, you'll use an expression operator to convert the date string in the format you want. Map other attributes directly to your target table (or other transformations you need to perform).
    This is the generated script of a dummy plan I've built here:
    OPTIONS ( ERRORS=50, BINDSIZE=50000, ROWS=200, READSIZE=65536)

      INFILE '{{LOC_FILE.RootPath}}load.csv'

  • Converting date format MM/DD/YYYY to DD/MM/YYYY in ISA B2B App

    Hi All,
    We have implemented CRM ISA 5.0 (B2B) application. Is it possible to change the date format to DD/MM/YYYY in ISA B2B web application. Now currently it is showing MM/DD/YYYY in all the pages. We need to change this format to DD/MM/YYYY, where and which the date shows the current format of MM/DD/YYYY. Is there any way in XCM settings to change the date format to achieve this. Do we require custom coding ?
    Kindly suggest us!!!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Saravanan

    Hi ,
    If the sol doesn't work with the system settings, do try passing the values in char format after concatenating appropriately adding "-".
    This ll work.
          date = '02252010'. "mmddyyyy"format
          concatenate date+2(2) '-'
                      date+0(2) '-'
                      date+4(4) into var.
    var-25-02-2010dd-mm-yyyy format.
    pass the variable 'var' to the webshop/web application.

  • Converting string to date in mm/dd/yyyy format

    Hi,
    I used simpledateformat to convert date to "MM/dd/yyyy" format.
    Now when i want to insert into db, i want the value as date object instead of string [returned by format method of SimpleDateFormat]
    what should i do?
    Date dt = new Date();
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
    System.out.println("Formatted date is coming as "+sdf.format(dt));
    Date dt1 = sdf.parse(sdf.format(dt);
    System.out.println("parsed date is coming as " +dt1);
    output :
    1 SOP returns 11/07/2007 [current date]
    2 SOP returns Wed Nov 07 00:00:00 GMT+05:30 2007

    If you are using PreparedStatements setDate method, you need a java.sql.Date object, not a Java.util.Date object. You can create an sql.Date object from a util.Date object as follows:
    java.sql.Date sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(dt.getTime());And, if you are not using PreparedStatement and its setDate method, then change now.
    Doing
    Date dt1 = sdf.parse(sdf.format(dt));is meaningless. You format the date to string, then parse the string back to a date? Why? Why not just use the original Date object? And you won't get a sql.Date object that way, either, as the DateFormat classes return a util.Date object.
    Edit: And for more info:
    A Date does not have a format. It is simply a number. The "format" only comes into play when printing the String representation of the Date, and that is not handled by the Date object itself (except when calling toString either explicitly or implicitly).

    first off, you've got to_date(to_date(...)) - NEVER do this - you're forcing an implicit to_char which can cause all sorts of problems!
    What is the data type of your column val_5? If it's DATE then your query is simply:
    select UPPER(t.val_10) "TYPE",
           count(val_3) "Number of Transfers"
    from   table1 t
    where  t.is_active = 1
    and    t.val_4 = 'INBOUND'
    and    val_5 between to_date('01/08/2008','DD/MM/YYYY') and add_months(to_date('01/08/2008','DD/MM/YYYY') ,1)
    group by UPPER(t.val_10)
    order by UPPER(t.val_10)If it's a varchar2 (why, oh why, oh why, ...?!), then your query should be:
    select UPPER(t.val_10) "TYPE",
           count(val_3) "Number of Transfers"
    from   table1 t
    where  t.is_active = 1
    and    t.val_4 = 'INBOUND'
    and    to_date(val_5, 'mm/dd/yyyy hh:mi:ss AM') between to_date('01/08/2008','DD/MM/YYYY') and add_months(to_date('01/08/2008','DD/MM/YYYY') ,1)
    group by UPPER(t.val_10)
    order by UPPER(t.val_10)Remember that dates in DATE format are stored in an internal Oracle format - in order for you to tell Oracle that your string is a date, you need to use to_date. When you want to retrieve a date, you need to use to_char to put it into the format you want to see it in.
    Remember also that your nls_date_format defines the default format that you'll see a date, which is what is used in the implicit conversion that oracle does when you select a date:
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format='dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select sysdate from dual;
    SYSDATE
    26/03/2009 11:01:53
    1 row selected.
    SQL> alter session set nls_date_format='mm/dd/yy hh12:mi:ss AM';
    Session altered.
    SQL> select sysdate from dual;
    SYSDATE
    03/26/09 11:02:24 AM
    1 row selected.It doesn't make sense to convert something that's already in a DATE format into a DATE format - in order to do that, oracle has to first change the date into a string, and it does that by using the nls_date_format parameter setting - if you're working with dates-in-strings that are in a different format, then all sorts of problems arise, as you have found out!

  • How to Convert Date (DD.MM.YYYY) to be just DD

    Hi experts,
    I have no idea how to convert Date format (DDMMYYYY) to be just DD.
    Example:
    I have date: 31.10.2009
    now i just want to show in report as 31.
    I just known if we just want to show month only, we could use the 0CALMONTH2. but how if i need the day only?
    Are there any way, either in query (BEx) or modeling (Routine/Formula in Update Rules or Transfer Rules) which could fulfill the requirement?
    Many thanks..

  • How to convert Date in varchar(50) format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM into YYYY-MM-DD format using MS SQLServer 2008 R2 ?

    Hi,
    I am getting the error "The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value."
    when converting date in format Date in varchar(50) format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM into YYYY-MM-DD format using MS SQLServer 2008 R2.
    Please note that the date in column is Date(varchar(50), null).
    I used the following syntax:
    SELECT  CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), Date, 102) AS Day
    FROM   dbo.[RCap_2G MM/Operator]
    WHERE  (CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), Date, 102) > { fn NOW() } - 1)

    As noted above, either use ISDATE or TRY_CONVERT with the correct conversion style number:
    -- SQL Server 2012 code
    DECLARE @Date varchar(50) = '10/23/2006 10:20';
    SELECT TRY_CONVERT(DATE, @Date, 101) AS Day
