Convert from MOV to MPEG-2

I have a flash CS3 file.  We have saved it out as an MOV.  How can I:
A.  Save the file out as a MPEG-2 instead?
OR
B.  Convert the file from an MOV to an MPEG-2?  Preferably, with a free solution.

Try this.

it is freeware.
Good luck, Braulio

  • Rendering while converting from DVD using MPEG Streamclip or Cinematize

Is there anyway to make rendered .mov file, while converting from DVD to .mov, using MPEG Streamclip or Cinematize for final cut pro?
    Thanks.

Are you asking if there's a way to export from mpegstreamclip so you don't need to render when you edit with the file in fcp?  If so, yes...  (sorry couldn't resist).
What format is your sequence in fcp (make the timeline active and hit command(apple)-zero?   Note the pixel dimensions, frame rate and compressor settings and set the quicktime options in mpegstreamclip export dialog to match them.  You should be good to go.
Also, you might do some searching here.  Pretty sure someone posted a link to a tutorial on how to do this,

  • What is a good video converter - from .mov to .avi

I've tried researching this topic and I've seen a lot of partially helpful info.  I'll try to be specific.  I'm using a MBP with OS X, and iMovie '09 (version 8.0.6).  I'm trying to convert my edited .mov files to either .avi or .wmv files so i can embed them into a powerpoint presentation for PC.  I am not trying to rip DVDs.  These are interview I filmed myself.  I need a decent (free or inexpensive) converter to do this.  I have tried Handbrake and i only get .mp4 as an format option.  I've also tried MPEG StreamClip but when it converts there is no audio.  I don't mind paying a few bucks to have a good converter, but i want one that will do the job.  Any help or opinions are greatly appreciated!

For .wmv, you can use Flip4Mac. http://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm
A potentially free solution is to use regular iMovie h.264 files (.m4v) and be sure to install QuickTime for Windows on the Windows PC.
If you need to distribute the PPT to multiple PCs, I would go for Flip4Mac.
To the best of my knowledge, purchasing Flip4Mac gives you the components and codec you would need. Then you do the actual conversion in QuickTime Pro. MPEG Streacmlip might work, but I'm not certain. Worth trying since it is free.

  • Converting i-movie to mpeg

I want to use a digital photo frame to show my i-movie. The frame says it takes mpeg format. I can convert my i-movie to mpeg4 but when I put the flash drive into the frame it doesn't seem to find the file. I don't know if that is because I saved it as MPEG-4 or if there is something else I'm doing wrong. What can I do?

    Hi Joseph,
    Welcome to forum.
    My suggestions are;
First, avoid to use QTPro if you plan to convert 2 hrs movie.
Second, use "Search" tool, to find out "No audio" problem in this forum. There are so many posts about "No audio"
    Third, see this ;

  • Audio off when converting from mov to flv

I have an mov file that I am trying to convert with the media encoder, but when I run it through, it throws off the audio just slightly. I have tried converting to flv and mp4 with the same results. What is causing this? Can I fix it? I need to be able to convert the file so I can use it in a Captivate project.

I resolved the issue.  I googled the issue and the answer was right there. Turns out that one audio clip (out of dozens in the project) was somehow corrupted. A small yellow triangle was the indication.  Once I deleted that clip all of the other audio came back into the project.  I simply pasted a fresh version of that audio clip into the project and the all was not lost.

  • Converting from .mov to wmv... what the best converter?

    Hi,
I regularly have to convert .mov files to WMV files so that they can be embedded in powerpoint presentations. I recently downloaded 'wondershare' converter for approx £30, however it already seems to be broken & no longer converts. Would anyone recommend a reliable converter?
    Many thanks!

The phone. Don't use the phone to change the wrapper. Use a converter or better yet, use a video camera. Use a phone to make calls.

  • After converting my movie into mpeg 4 format..

The movie works perfectly fine on my i tunes, but when i drag it into my i-pod it doesent do anything..It doesent import or anything(I followed the manual) any suggestions on whats wrong?

All you need to do is find the video on your computer and drag it into the iTunes window. Then, right-click it (in iTunes) and in the menu that pops up, choose the option "Convert Selection For iPod". It will process for a while, depending on how long the video is, and then when it is done you can drag it across to your iPod.
I don't know why people mess around with all these third-party converters.

  • Convert a movie from Quicktime to MPEG4 in MPEG Streamclip

I want to convert a movie from Quicktime (.mov) which I created in Final Cut Express to MPEG4 in MPEG Streamclip to be able to see it on my Samsung TV. The problem is that the uncompressed movie, comverted only from Quicktome to MPEG 4, stops almost every moment on my Samsung TV. I have connected an external harddrive in NTFS there via USB 2.0 (Samsung TV cannot play movies in HFS etc.). The uncompressed movies are bigger than 4GB in Quicktime.
    http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201112/20111208190112921/Web_GSDVBE UA_GER.pdf
I ask here how to use MPEG streamclip (free version; I use 1.9.2) so convert my movies into MPEG 4 so that I cann watch it on my Samsung TV.
I filled out "Bildrate" "30" but this did not work. I have chosen less quality but there are still - less - interruptions and I find it laborious to test different versions of less quality so that it might work.
I ask you also because I want to create my movies to give it to other people via the internet (f.i. via rapidshare) but I need a smaller size of my movies and do not know all the different TVs my friends have. I cannot imagine that it is not possible to create a movie in MPEG 4 that cannot be seen in many TVs via an external harddrive?

I know that I can do that also in FCE. It takes much more time to convert a movie into MPEG4 than to export it as uncompressed movie in QuickTime which I can use f.i. in iDVD to burn a DVD or watch it on my MBP.
But I don't know the versions of TVs of other people if I want to send them the movie via internet f.i. via mydrive.ch etc. which have limited space if used for free. So which settings to choose for an output in MPEG4?
For my one use it is o.k. if the movie can be seen correctly in MPEG4 on my TV but I can also watch it via my MBP on my TV via HDMI.

Great hearing for you all! I thought I was all alone this past weekend. I did learn a lot this weekend. I really like the InDesign product.(half-the-battle) But to be helped by the prestigious “Sandee Cohen” was an honor indeed.”  I ordered the InDesign CC today.  Peter, I appreciate all the feedback on Lynda too. They are loaded with lots of good videos. Derek too honed in on one of the most important aspects!  Since I have been working with Word for most of the first portion of the book this will be a big help. I looked at the comments big help ! Thanks a ton ALL!  Have a wonder day or evening whenever you read this reply.

  • Converting movie library from DV to Mpeg

I have a number of DV imports in my iMovie 08 library, but they take up such a huge amount of HD space. Is there an easy way to convert these to mpeg and keep them in my library without having to add them to a project, export them and then reimport them?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Is there an easy way to convert these to mpeg and keep them in my library without having to add them to a project, export them and then reimport them?
If you are done creating your project in iMovie, the normal procedure is to archive and/or remove the raw footage from your hard drive and keep the project output files for viewing/sharing. iMovie is not intended to be a a video manager or multimedia player like iTunes, the QT Player, or Front Row.
As to actually converting your files to MPEG-2, You can simply use iDVD or Ti Toast to create Video_TS Folders/image files which can be left stored on your hard drive but this limits you to applications like Front Row, the Apple DVD Player, VLC, MPEG Streamclip or similar applications for playback. Programs like bitVice or Compressor can be used to create elementary MPEG-2 and AIFF streams playable in QT (if you have the MPEG-2 component installed) or other multimedia players. My own personal choice would be to use iTunes to manage the default H.264/AAC files produced by iMovie '08 for viewing in iTunes, Front Row, QT Player, iPhone, iPod, TV, and can also be shared on-line giving you the most options for viewing and sharing.
