Convert GigaStudio Sound Banks for use in Logic (EXS)

I got ahold of some freeware GigaStudio sound banks (.GIG) and I was wondering if there's an easy to convert them into EXS-24 format. Or maybe some weird way to convert to SoundFont? Because I know how to convert SoundFont to EXS.

It's easy. Copy the .gig files to your Sampler Instruments folder, Open an EXS24 and load it from the center of the GUI and it will create EXS24 instruments.
Then delete or move the .gig files as they are generally large and will fill up your drive and bog down your system.

    You're welcome.
I forgot to mention there's another good utility [All2MP3|http://download.cnet.com/All2MP3/3000-2140_4-190407.html] which is free, but only converts to mp3.

  • Best drum loops for use with Logic? Ease of use, usability, etc.

    Hi,
I have BFD2 but find it slow to load and sometimes clumsy auditioning loops within Logic. I love the Apple Loops library but I wondered if people are importing MIDI drum files for use with Logic. Do all drum files use the same MIDI mapping? If I drop a BFD2 loop into a Logic drum virtual instrument will it work? I bought a few packs from Groove Monkee but have yet to use them with Logic. I only use them within BFD2.
I'm basically looking for a seamless way to stay within Logic to improve my workflow. It's taken me days sometimes to get a drum track right by going back and forth with BFD2. Is there a concept I'm missing that would make it easier?

  • Hello, what is the best way for me to convert RW2 raw format for use in Photoshop CC

Hello, what is the best way for me to convert RW2 raw format for use in Photoshop CC. I would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks for the quick help. I do have to leave for work. When I try to
download the images from the camera they seem to only be in jpeg (I don't
see any rw2 or raw files to download). If I select the jpeg file it seems
to only download a jpeg file. I do understand that I do have the option to
open the jpeg in RAW. In doing this, is all the extra information included
in the RAW file there or is it lost coming from the camera
Once again thank you for trying to make me understand how this works.
    Have a great day.

What database program will convert my Appleworks DB for use on Intel platform?

Yes, you just need the appleworks folder from applications.
However, whether or not this is strictly legal is another question entirely, I'm afraid, unless you are planning to remove appleworks from your computer. You could just buy her her own copy of Appleworks, too.

  • Converting aiff to caf for use with the logic loop browzer

I've got a bunch of new loops. I would like to batch convert the to caf, and use them in the loop browser. Any know if this is possible????
    Thanks,
    CB

you don't need to convert as .caf
Logic support .aif .wav .sd2 loops and also .caf!
No conversion is required... if they are not already apple loop compatible you need to use Apple Loop Utility to add the Logic tags

  • Initializing sound banks for JV-2080

I'm having a hard time programming the names for my Roland JV-2080 expansion cards into Logic's named sound banks. The last time I did this someone from tech support had to talk me through it. I've just spent all day going through the Pro Reference help guide but I'm still confused. I know the hard way is to type in each patch name manually, but I know there's a way to assign the names from the expansion card automatically - does anyone know how to do this? My only other option is to spend several hundred dollars for an Apple Care protection package so I can call tech support. Any info would be much appreciated.

    'audio instrument' vs. 'midi instrument'
Well let's start there. An "Audio Instrument" is a class of an audio object, and it's displayed in the environment as a regular audio channel, with a fader, input and output, inserts etc. It lets you insert an instrument plugin in it's input, and receives MIDI data which plays the loaded instrument plugin, the audio of which is played to whatever output is selected.
A MIDI instrument is simply an environment object that takes incoming MIDI data (optionally processes it) and sends it on either to it's cable output, or to a MIDI port.
So if you have an external synth (say, Virus) connected on MIDI Port 1, on MIDI channel one, you'd create an instrument object called Virus, and specify Port 1, Channel 1.
Now with that object selected on an arrange track, the MIDI in your regions will be sent through it, and out to MIDI Port 1 on channel 1, and your Virus would play the notes.
Finding patch lists isn't a problem, because I have those
    Ok.
But I can't seem to successfully copy and paste them into the banks.
I goto bank 14 and select "paste all names" (which I have copied
from the patch list in my word processor) but the names get
    pasted to bank 6 instead!
Er, not sure what's going on there, I've never had a problem pasting in names - it's difficult to say without seeing what you are doing. You can always copy banks of names between banks anyway.
Another problem is that I've got four new expansion boards
I need to initialize and I've already filled 14 of the 15 banks
    available in my JV-2080 multi-instrument.
Yes, that's a little more tricky and has been a limitation of Logic for some time. Thre are ways around it that involve some environment work, but if you're a newbie at that it might be tricky...

  • Converting an HTML file for use in browsers

    Hi Guys and gals,
I am new to creating java programs to run within a Web environment - thus my reason for asking this question. I hope this is the apropriate forum to point this question to.
I have created an applet which is invoked inside an HTML file. The HTML is fairly simple, although it does pass a number of parameters for use within the applet.
I have run the HTML file within Sun's Appletviewer and it works fine. Now I need to convert the HTML for use in Browsers supporting Java 2.
What is the best resource to use to perform this conversion ? I understand some type of Converter or Plug in is available to perform this task. Can anyone help me out ?

The easiest way is to use SUNs HTML convertre program.
You can find the information about the JAVA plugin and how to create the HTML code at

  • Converting songs from itunes for use in FCE

I am a new mac user who switched from adobe premiere to FCE. I need to use some music from my itunes library in my FCE project. How do I convert itunes audio for use in FCE?

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to FCE, so this might be useless. But I've found a trick (obtained from "Final Cut Express 2 Editing Workshop" by Tom Wolsky) which is to render audio at Item Level. It allows you to render a piece of music to the same sampling level as another item.
It seems to work fine, but some of these guys who've used this more might know of problems when using it.
Import your song from the Music folder (or wherever you have them stored) and just go into the Sequence/Render All or Render Selection menus and check the "Item Level." The next time you render your audio, it should render to the same properties as existing items in your project.
At least, that's how I gather it works. This won't help with copy protected songs as the guys mentioned, but the majority of my songs are not from the iTunes store, so it's useful to me. Hope that helps!

  • Converting .logic (logic 9) files to .lso (for use in Logic Express 7)

Does anyone know if this is possible?
Or, is it possible to save files in 9 as v7 projects, much in the way you can do a "save as" Excel 97 spreadsheet while in Excel 2011.  You lose things in the deal, but you can do it.
    Thanks

    Tweek-ie wrote:

AFAIK... The simple answer is No.
Once a ' song/project/creation ' has been saved and/or created in a Later Version, it cannot be, successfully, Opened in an Earlier Version...

  • How can I export or convert to AVI file for use on PC?

I know I did this back in Jan 2009 but can't remember the process to get an AVI file that retains the sound. I thought I exported a SWF and then somehow converted it to an AVI.
    *The file:*
    *Retains sound, builds and movement.*
*Automatically advances, using "control p" to pause (did not retain the click-to-advance feature).*
I've been reviewing third party software but they seem to all state that the won't retain the sound/builds etc.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

The simplest way is to export as QT and then open the QT using Quick Time Player. If you've got pro you can export as .avi.
There are videos on youtube showing you how to upgrade to QT Pro for free...

  • What quicktime movie settings for use in Logic

Hi, I'm working on a 50 track mix of a live gig which was also filmed and I have to work to picture. I was advised to ask the video editor to give me the following:
Quicktime Sorenson codec (or Sorenson3). Limit data rate to 500 kbps, 320 x 240.
But, working with this quality of movie makes it hard to really see if all my audio is in sync especially when the lighting is low in certain shots. It's too pixelated if I try to blow it up to see better. The editor is in France and he has to upload the files etc and I want to get better quality from him but I need to know what the highest quality movie I can run with my set up without wasting the editors time by outputting and uploading something which Logic won't work with. Anybody got any ideas. There's nothing in the manual that I can see that discusses Quicktime resolution/quality.
    thanks
    Mark

Using Quicktime Pro, convert your movie to PhotoJPEG format (.mov), and use that version in Logic for best sync and small filesize.
