Convert .img to .iso

how can i covert a .img to a .iso, i have burn & i used the disk utility app but my virtualbox software can't boot from it.

If the image you are working with is not bootable, or made correctly, then when you convert it,
it is not going to work.
If it is an image of say, a bootable fat32 volume, then it is not going to be bootable when converted
to cdr format, because the file systems (fat32 and joliet) are not compatible.
A bootable fat32 volume can be made into a bootable cd, but it is a intricate process, not just
a copy exercise.
Creating bootable (el-torito) cd's can be done in OS X, but it has to be done from the command line
(Terminal.app), not from the GUI Disk Utility.

hdiutil supports generating El Torito-style bootable ISO9660
filesystems, which is commonly used for booting x86-based
hardware. The specification includes several emulation modes.
By default, an El Torito boot image emulates either a 1.2MB,
1.44MB, or 2.88MB floppy drive, depending on the size of the
image. Also available are "No Emulation" and "Hard Disk
Emulation" modes, which allow the boot image to either be
loaded directly into memory, or be virtualized as a parti-
tioned hard disk, respectively. The El Torito options should
not be used for data CDs.
Some of the above examples include examples using mkisofs from jorge schilling's
cdrtools. hdiutil in SL has most of the same functionality built in as mkisofs.
cdrtools can be compiled on OS X.
If all this gets too deep for you, there is always Parallels Desktop or VMware Fusion.
Good luck with your VM project.

    1. Insert your Windows DVD in Optical drive. Disconnect any external storage.
    2. Insert a USB2 Flash drive. This will be used to hold the BC drivers.
    3. Start BCA. Check the options to download software and Install Windows. You do not need to download Windows. The BCA will download the BC drivers to the USB.

    You cannot do conversion from ISO 8859-1 to UTF-8 in-place because the UTF-8 version will generally be longer (unless you convert a pure ASCII file, which does not need conversion in the first place). Therefore, you would have to overwrite what you have not read yet. Instead, convert to a new file with a temporary name, drop the original and rename the temporary back to original. This is not that complicated.
    If the problem is that you want to overwrite a file already open by the database, then rename the incoming file first and then convert copying to the target.

  • Converting IMG/ISO to wav..?

    So..
    I'm very new to Mac but very eager to learn more. Recently I purchased the Logic Studio box because of my long time desire to create my own music.
    The kind of music I make is electronic/progressive, therefore I would love to put in some qoutes I've found a long the way. These qoutes often comes from movies. I know that for windows several programs are able to convert avi and other movie formats to wav/mp3.
    So my question is; which application does Mac users use for this? Is there something 'build-in' to the Logic Studio where it is possible to convert different movie formats to wav? If it's called wav at all with a mac.
    Hope to get some featback, would be very much appreciated. Best regards.

    OK, I'll take a stab at this, since no one else has replied.
    Disclaimer: I have never grabbed an audio track from a movie, and I'm sure there are other ways to do it, but if I needed to, here is how I would approach it:
    On the Mac, Quicktime is the native movie format, and you can download Quicktime Pro from Apple for $30. Quicktime Pro will allow you to open an avi (you may need to also go out and search for free avi codecs for Quicktime first, I can't remember), and then open the movie, and go to Move Properties (Command-J), select the audio track and hit "Extract." It makes a new movie containing only the audio track, and then you can Export : "Sound to WAV."
    Remember to set your movie audio settings so you don't lose any more than has already been compressed.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I convert img file to VDI

    I have downloaded a disk image of Google's Chromium OS (from developer Hexxeh made available at http://download-chromiumos.appspot.com/ I have the 64 bit version) both the files here are downloaded as .img files and Mac OS X says it cannot mount these files I get a warning no mountable file systems. I really need a VDI though I read there is a way to convert an img file in the Terminal to VDI (this is from 2009 though)  you enter
    VBoxManage convertfromraw -format VDI   [filename with extension] [chromiumos]. [filename]vdi it says converting from raw image file but then immediately gives this error:
    VBoxManage: error: Cannot open file "[chromiumos_image]": VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND
    Anyone know how I can get this to work or where I can find a working VDI to download that is recent. I have Hexxeh's earlier Chrome OS build 4028 on his site chromeos.hexxeh.net working but it is from April of last year. Any ideas how to get this to work or where to find a working file. I have tried Arnoldthebat's VDI images from November-December 2013 and even newer but they don't work. I'm told since October 13, 2013 future builds of his don't work in VirtualBox. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any older builds available for download to his site. I can only get the November-December 2013 builds or  newer 2014 builds.
    FYI: My MacBook Pro is now on OS 10.9.2 Mavericks.

    This may help:
    Frequently asked questions about viewing and syncing video with iTunes and iPod
    You can try placing the movie in the Move library of iTunes and selecting it and going to the Advanced tab of iTunes and selecting Create Ipod and iPhone version.
    If tha does not work yu will need to use a conversion program like the free Handbrake program. Just Google for it.

  • Disappointed in the quality of the 1.1 raw converter at high isos

    I've been using Lightroom since the first Windows beta, and the very first thing that jumped out at me was the wonderful way it handled digital noise at high isos. It seemed to convert it to a unique kind of grain -- I thought of it as digital grain.
    I started shooting at ISO 1600 intentionally just to get that look. ISO 1600, jam the color noise reduction up to 100 percent, and leave the luminance slider at 0. Ah, heaven!
    I upgraded to 1.1, and since I've been doing some high-key work at lower isos recently, I didn't notice a change. Then, a few weeks ago I was editing some old stuff, and I zoomed in, and thought "That's odd. It looks like there is some luminance smoothing going on." I checked the luminance slider, and it was still at 0.
    I was absolutely positive I found a bug, so I googled, and that lead me here, where I read numerous threads on the subject. OK, I get it, the new de-mosiacing algorithms can reduce the level of noise for a certain level of perceived detail. I've checked it out, and in some of my images I can see what that means. I'd have to say I like the new look in 3 out of the 250 or so ISO 1600 images I've looked at so far. I tried just living with it -- maybe I was being too afraid of change, and maybe I would get used to it over time. Sadly, that wasn't the case.
    The fact is, even if the overall level of noise has gone down since v. 1.0, the
    type of noise changed, and it's something that I can clearly see in my larger prints. Do I see it in my smaller prints? Not really. But every time I zoom in to 100 percent on an image, I grate my teeth, and become just a little bit more resentful.
    For me the whole point of Lightroom is that I'm able to process my images, come back in six months, and have them be exactly the same as they were before. If my older images start shifting around and changing themselves behind my back every time I upgrade, what's the point?
    I butt my head against this every time I process stuff at high isos, and I get extremely frustrated when working with some of the 1.5k+ shots I intentionally shot at 1600 just to get the wonderful luminance noise look.
    So I'm going to plead with the development team here:
    please give me my old noise profile back! Don't make me downgrade my entire library to 1.0 and live with version 1.0 on Windows forever. Give me some hope!

    I knew about this issue with the version 1.1 but, sincerely, I was quite happy with the new improved sharpen and noise reduction tools, and also with the clarity tools and all the improvements... until now.
    I just have printed a more or less big print (20x25cm), I looked at the print and... "what's that?". My print seems a paint. It just seems this kind of pics you get after applying some "oil paint" filter in your favorite image editing software. HORRIBLE. I don't know if the print interpolation (I just added some resolution in the print module) also accentuated this effect.
    Definitively I don't like this "look". It's too different from any other raw converter. It doesn't seems a photograph, digital or not. Version 1.0 had some issues, maybe it was too noisy and the sharpening wasn't good but you could use your favorite noise reduction sw or your editing sw and improve noise/sharpen. What can I do with this "paint"?.

  • Converting  cp850 to iso-8859-1

    hi there,
    I'm having a problem converting between charsets.
    I've written the following function:
    code:----
    private String convertCharset(String data) {
    try {
    byte[] chars = data.getBytes();
    String converted = new String( chars, "Cp850" );
    catch ( UnsupportedEncodingException err) {
    System.err.println(err);
    String converted="";
    return converted;
    it seemed to work fine...*g*until it met german characters.
    By now the only one (the only one I noticed) that doesn't get converted correctly is the letter '', which becomes an '?'.
    The strange thing is that an '?' stays an '?' so I can't just replace those two...kind of weird...
    does anybody know a workaround for this ?
    thanks

    I'm getting data through an JDBC-ODBC bridge from an
    foxpro 2.6 database, which returns the data cp850
    encoded.
    the data is fetched with the ResultSet.getString()
    method and written into a 2d String array, so the data
    should be cp850 encoded at that point (no ?).No, you still have it backwards. The data in the database should be bytes encoded in CP850, and the JDBC driver should -- if it is working correctly and the database is working correctly -- should convert those bytes to a String, using the CP850 charset.
    (Every time you think "... and this String is encoded in..." you are off track.)
    Then im calling the script I've posted here to convert
    it to unicode (?).
    Then I'm escaping the String for inserting it into an
    INSERT Query, building the query and executing it.
    So calling the ResultSet.getBytes() instead of the
    ResultSet.getString() method and then calling your
    function will fix this problems ?I suppose you ask this because you are, in fact, not getting the correct data from the database and the driver. This would not surprise me. I would guess that something like this:byte[] bytes = rs.getBytes(n);
    String data = new String(bytes, "CP850");might work. That tells the driver to return the bytes from the database as they are, and then you convert them from a CP850 array of bytes to a string. Try that first to see if it works. Then if it does, you can move on to the INSERT problem.
    That problem is: when you do INSERT of a String, the driver and database are likely not going to use CP850 in this case either. That is good and bad news: the good news is that data that you write from Java using INSERT can likely be read back using ResultSet.getString() with no problem. But the bad news is that the data already in the database can't, so you don't want that to happen. You can experiment with ü to see if the problem exists; if it does you need to do something like this:PreparedStatement ps = conn.prepareStatement("INSERT table fields(name) values(?)");
    byte[] bytes = yourString.getBytes("CP850");
    ByteArrayInputStream is = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes);
    ps.setBinaryStream(1, is, bytes.length);
    ps.executeUpdate();
    Sorry I'm asking, I'm a desperate C programmer working
    with Java for 4 days (3 hours writing the
    Synchronization program, the rest trying to fix this
    problem)Yes, this is an annoying complication for non-Java programmers. You're doing pretty well for a beginner.

  • How to convert .IMG or DVD with menus to DMG EXE and/or iPad App

    Help!!!
    I have made a load of DVD's I want to convert into applications for windows, mac and iPads .... I've read a load of threads by others who have asked simular questions but the only solutions are to convert them into individual videos ...BUT... I want to keep the menus ... Is this really an imposible task? Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.
    Many thanks,

    Ah yes, sorry I didn't really explain very well as I tend to ramble...
    I volunteer for a special education school and am trying to create choosing activities that can go onto the network. We have a program that symblifys the system so that the children with mild-severe learning difficulties can acess certain applications. I'd like the resources I have made to be acessed by both student and teachers throughout the school.
    Yes, burning them to disk is a last resort. It gets really busy in a PMLD class. And any disks I leave in the class usually ends up being severly scratched, dribbled, chewed thrown or just simply lost! And this is just one class!
    I did at one point try to just copy the DVD files onto the school computer and run it that way but I got in trouble with the IT guy at the school. There was an issue with space...but I thought If i could give him a program of each choosing activity for the various topics he could instal it on the network which could then be acessed on any computer.
    The mac version was just a thought really. If i can manage to convert any of this...one day...when someone clever invents something that will make magic...I want to be able to upload it onto the TES website as a free teaching resources. And I didn't want to exclude mac users.

    Then, you are seing the properties shown by Windows itself.
    If you are looking from the editor : file/file info, advanced tab. Then click on 'Adobe photoshop properties... you'll see the real color space.
    If you look from an advanced editor like exif viewer or photome, you'll see the 'uncalibrated' mention in the camera section... and the real color space in the ICC profile section...
    The exif data are far from simple...
    Edit : the simplest way to know the color space in the editor may be to click on the small triangle in the bottom left part of the status bar : you can choose 'document profile' from the drop down list.
    Alternatively, menu/image/convert color profile. If you can convert to sRGB you are in aRGB and reciprocally.
