Convert number Date to real

I have a column that stores Date as a number, 19490128 YYYYMMDD
I need to covert that to a Real Date and then find out current age of person, how would I do that ?
I used to know how, but I forgot :- )
Please help..

what about finding out their age using the System Date ?if you subtract one DATE from another, you get the difference, in units of 1 day:
SYSDATE - dtwill return 365 if SYSDATE is April 15, 2010 and dt is April 15, 2009.
If you'd rather have the difference in units of 1 month:
MONTHS_BETWEEN (SYSDATE, dt)or 1 year:
MONTHS_BETWEEN (SYSDATE, dt) / 12Warning: MONTHS_BETWEEN may return un-intuitive results when comparing dates near the end of their months.

  • How to convert amount data element to number data element

    Dear Gurus,
    I have a requirement to get the data by calling BRF+ and then pass them to BAPI 'BAPI_ASSET_ACQUISITION_POST', in the BRF+ export structure, there is a field 'AMOUNT', I bind it to DDIC element 'BF_ANBTR', the type is Number.
    In BRF+, I call another global function to calculate the value, I define a local variant LV_VALUE to get export value from this function, this local variant's type is Amount, now I need to move this local variant value to the export field 'AMOUNT'.
    But BRF+ doesn't allow to convert amount data element to number data element directly, and I find there is no formula function available. Only there is a function 'TO_AMOUNT' to convert number data element to amount data element.
    Please help to get a solution for above solution.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    within the formula expression within the category "Mathematical functions" you will find the function "TONUMBER". This converts a data element of type currency to a number. According to the help of this function:
    "The following conversion rules apply:
    <Amount>: The number part is returned. The currency unit is omitted."
    This is what you are looking for.
    For the other way round you already mentioned the correct function "TO_AMOUNT"

  • How to convert number datatype to raw datatype for use in data warehouse?

    I am picking up the work of another grad student who assembled the initial data for a data warehouse, mapped out a dimensional dw and then created then initial fact and dimension tables. I am using oracle enterprise 11gR2. The student was new to oracle and used datatypes of NUMBER (without a length - defaulting to number(38) for dimension keys. The dw has 1 fact table and about 20 dimension tables at this point.
    Before refining the dw further, I have to translate all these dimension tables and convert all columns of Number and Number(n) (where n=1-38) to raw datatype with a length. The goal is to compact the size of the dw database significantly. With only a few exceptions every number column is a dimension key or attribute.
    The entire dw db is now sitting in a datapump dmp file. this has to be imported to the db instance and then somehow converted so all occurrences of a number datatype into raw datatypes. BTW, there are other datatypes present such as varchar2 and date.
    I discovered that datapump cannot convert number to raw in an import or export, so the instance tables once loaded using impdp will be the starting point.
    I found there is a utl_raw package delivered with oracle to facilitate using the raw datatype. This has a numbertoraw function. Never used it and am unsure how to incorporate this in the table conversions. I also hope to use OWB capabilities at some point but I have never used it and only know that it has a lot of analytical capabilities. As a preliminary step I have done partial imports and determined the max length of every number column so I can alter the present schema number columns tp be an apporpriate max length for each column in each table.
    Right now I am not sure what the next step is. Any suggestions for the data conversion steps would be appreciated.

  • Converting hex to number & date

    Hi!
    Im having a problem converting the hex code to the number & date.
    select low_value,high_value from ALL_TAB_COL_STATISTICS;
    Iv tried HEX_TO_CHAR and that works fine.
    select column_name, UTL_I18N.RAW_TO_CHAR(low_value),UTL_I18N.RAW_TO_CHAR(high_value),low_value, UTL_I18N.RAW_TO_CHAR(high_value) from ALL_TAB_COL_STATISTICS where owner = 'user' and table_name = 'table_name';
    if you type this statement you will see that numeric fields and date fields get caught up in (¿) type of fields.
    Any solution for this?

    When I execute the statement I get divisor is equal to zero, so I tried to add a nvl if its null then 1, and if its 0 in number of rows then 1.
    Iv tried multiple ways to do this but I cant get it to calculate. With the current statement I dont get any results.
    I can get it to work if I create a view with this statement and add a specific table_name. But I need to get this to work in the whole schema/user without entering a specific table.
    Any ideas what I can do else?
    Thx in advance

  • Convert from date to number

    Hi,
    I want to convert from date to number. How can I do?

    That rather depends on what sort of number you want.
    You can probably get what you want by a combination of to_char and to_number.

    Well, I do not follow why when 09 maps into 2009, 01 maps into 2010, not into 2001. Assuming it should be 2001, use YYDDD format:
    SQL> with t as (
      2             select 'FT*09025*0000000001' id from dual union all
      3             select 'FT*01171*0000000002' from dual

      5  select  to_date(substr(id,4,5),'yyddd') dt

  • I need a formula to convert a date into an integer (for use in Lookout)

    I have a DATA logger with the following:
    40001 = 4 (2004)
    40002 = 2 (February)
    40003 = 5 (5th)
    40004 = 13 (1:00pm)
    40005 = 12 (12 minutes)
    Lookout requires a date that it understands (eg. January 1, 1900).
    All I need is a basic formula to convert the date and time.
    This formula does not need to be specifically written for Lookout. Just a basic formula that I can do on paper or a calculator.
    I can integrate that formula into the Lookout software myself.

    Hello Smigman,
    First of all, I apologize in advance for not giving you "just the formula." And for the lengthy explanation (had to wait till after work hours), which you are very likely aware of already. I am writing this response in much detail so that it may benefit others.. hopefully And so that we understand the underlying principle involved, which will hopefully help us in building the formula the best way that suits us.
    As you have figured out, the data and time in Lookout is represented as a real number. This real number's integer portion represents days, and the decimal portion denotes time. The integer portion is basically the number of days since 01/01/1900. And the decimal portion is the number of seconds since midnight.
    So, for instance, if you insert the today() Expression in Lookout, you'll get a integer 38022 (which corresponds to today, Feb. 5th, 2004). In other words, today is the 38022nd day since 01/01/1900. Tomorrow, Feb. 6th 2004, will be 38023 and so on.
    The decimal part denotes time. A day has 24*60*60 = 86400 seconds, obviously. So, 1/86400 = 1.15741E-5 roughly represents one second. For instance, 38022.00001157 will give 02/05/2004 00:00:01.
    Coming to the formula now, for Time, first convert it to total seconds from midnight. E.g., 5:15:07pm would be (17*60*60) + (15*60) + 7 = 62107 seconds total since midnight. To get the Lookout's decimal part, divide this by 86400.
    62107/86400 = 0.71883102
    Therefore, 38022.71883102 would now give 02/05/2004 17:15:07. Computing Time is relatively easy.
    For the Date -- which is more complicated-- you could keep track of the total number of days either from 01/01/1900, or better still, a more recent day, like say 12/31/2003, which corresponds to 37986. To this reference you will keep adding 1 for each additional day to get the number for the current day. Note, you will have to accomodate leap years (Feb. 29th of this year, for instance).
    It's very helpful to have the reference day as the last day of the past year. That can be derived by counting the number of days since 01/01/1900 as follows:
    104 years * 365 days = 37960;
    + 1 day for each leap year
    A leap year is a year divisible by 4 (and 400 if the year ends with two zeros). There were 26 leap years from 1900 till 2003.
    So, 37960 + 26 = 37986. 12/31/2003 is thus represented by 37986.
    To get the integer for the Current Date we would first find what day of the year it is. Then add it to the reference day. Feb 5th, is the 36th day of the year. Adding this to 37986, gets us 38022.
    In your case you will have to come up with the correct day of the year using registers 40002 and 40003. Not sure if this helped or confused you more.

  • Convert XMP Date and Time

    Hi, in my script I am trying to read the Date and Time using the XMP functions of a selected file in bridge.  Then, I want to convert that date and time into a format that looks like: "01/12/10 | 01:23 PM" and write that to another metadata field like the description.  Im stuck on trying to convert the date and time into what I want it to look like?  Can anyone help, thanks!
    Here is the part of the code I'm having trouble with:
    When I read the dateTimeOriginal property of the file, it is in an unfriendly format.  It looks odd and shows the time zone.  The commented lines is code that I have tried, but didn't work.  I was trying to convert the XMPDateTime object into a Date object so I can adjust the format, but I haven't been successful.
    var myXmpFile = new XMPFile( selectedFile.fsName, XMPConst.UNKNOWN, XMPConst.OPEN_FOR_UPDATE);
          var myXmp = myXmpFile.getXMP();
          var Name = myXmp.getProperty(XMPConst.NS_EXIF, "DateTimeOriginal");
          var date = new XMPDateTime(new Date(Name));
          var date2 = new Date(date);
          //dateFormat.masks.portfolioDate = 'mm/dd/yy "|" hh:MM TT';
    //date.format("portfolioDate");
    //date2.format("mm/dd/yy");
    alert(date2.toString());
    Name.convertToLocalTime();
    Name.toString();
    alert(Name);

    Thanks for helping me out Paul.  I just have one more small problem.  I am trying to access the Headline XMP property, and I know i need to use the IPTC Core property, but it doesn't seem to work.  Here is my current code, can you help me out?
    var selectedFile = thumb.spec;
    var myXmpFile = new XMPFile( selectedFile.fsName, XMPConst.UNKNOWN, XMPConst.OPEN_FOR_UPDATE);
    var myXmp = myXmpFile.getXMP();

    var amOrPm = "AM";
    var hours = Number(dat[4]);
    if (hours > 11) amOrPm = "PM";
    if (hours > 12) hours = hours - 12;
    if (hours > 11) amOrPm = "PM";

    This seems to be your specific network configuration.  It seems that your corporate network is blocking HTTPS requests which don't use port 443. Your ABAP system is configured to use a port other than 443. Either talk to your basis admins about changing your ABAP system configuration to use port 443 or talk to your network administrators to allow whichever port the ABAP system is running on.

  • Viewing data in real-time and saving on-demand - USB4000 Spectrometer

    Hey,
    I am trying to create a program with a USB4000 Fiber Optic Spectrometer to allow the user to view the data in real-time on the front-panel, yet to be implemented, and also be able to save the data to an excel datasheet, or if another format if more appropriate. I am reasonably new to LabVIEW and have limited experience with saving data to excel.
    I am currently trying to build upon one of the example VIs given with the drivers. Currently the VI produces data like the following:
    Wavelength (nm)    Spectrum Data
    xyz                               xyz
    xyz                               xyz
    xyz                               xyz
    xyz                               xyz
    I want my VI to continue to append to a new column every iteration but I think due to me inputting an array of dimension size 2 it can't but am unsure how to get around this?
    The current VI starts off by creating the Headers and then appending to insert the spectrometer Data.
    Any help would be much appreciated, apologies if I am unclear about anything.

    Ok, a couple comments. First, it is easier to build a 2D array by appending rows and then transposing the array before saving it. Also it is much more efficient to preallocate the array if you know how many columns the data is going to have.
    Second, adding a new column or row isn't a problem because an additional column (or row) doesn't effect the number of dimensions.

    then in the real player, i tried some urls :
    http://david:88/ramgen/dbaudio/1 --> it didn't work, it was said invalid path
    http://david:88/ramgen/dbaudio/2 ----> it didn't work, it was said invalid path
    http://david:88/ramgen/dbaudio/3 ----> it didn't work, it was said invalid path
    http://david:88/ramgen/dbaudio/4 ----> it worked
    did i put a wrong url?
    does the http://..../ramgen/... path is just for ram file?
    can anyone show me the way to play audio data using real player?
    Thanx before.

    Yes, realserver expects an exact mimetype.
    to make matters worse, it expects audio/x-pn-realaudio (an audio mimetype) for video!?!?!
    Seems the code inside maps multiple file extensions to some mime type. Only one is allowed.
    I have used the unix strings commands in teh plugins directory to find the exact mime type realserver is expecting. The file format plugins have this information in them.

  • HOW CAN I ACQUIRE AND DEPLOY DATA IN REAL TIME WITH DAQ 6024E?

    HI ENGINEER,
    I'M PROGRAMING AN APLICATION WHICH I NEED ACUIRING AND DEPLOYING AN ANALOGOUS SIGNAL IN REAL TIME.
    I HAVE:
    LabVIEW 7.0
    WINDOWS 2000
    DAQ CARD 6024E
    THE SIGNAL I WANT TO ACQUIRE IS 0-10 Vcd FROM A SENSOR, THE PROBLEM I HAVE, IS THAT I AM ACQUIERING THE DATA AND IT SEEM THAT THEY ARE UPDATING EACH SECOND, BUT I HAVE BEEN MOVING THE PARAMETERS SUCH AS TASK TIMING IN THE DAQ ASSISTANT VI AND NOTHING HAPPENS.
    CAN YOU TELL ME WHICH PARAMETERS I HAVE TO MOVE TO AQUIRE AND DEPLOY DATA IN REAL TIME

    Hi barron,
    If you want to see the data update quicker, you can decrease the value in the "Samples to Read" field of your DAQ Assistant. This number controls when data is transferred from the DAQ buffer to the PC. If the sampling frequency remains the same, but this field decreases, it means the buffered data will be returned more quickly.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Lesley Y.
