Convert rdf to rep

hi all,
how to convert a group of reports( for example 30 reports) of RDF
format to REP format at one time instead of one by one.
Thanks.

Hi,
If you are using Windows, just create a BATch file with the
following single line:
for %%a in (*.rdf) do rwcon60 userid=username/password@NetString
source=%%a stype=rdffile dtype=repfile batch=yes
If you are using another OS, create a batch file in that OS that
does a loop for all rdf files, and call rwcon60 inside the loop.
Hope this helps,

  • Reports 6i RDF to REP conversion problem

    Hi Techies,
I am using reports builder 6i version.
I have couple of reports developed in RDF format and it is working fine in Oracle apps 11.5.10.
I converted the RDF to REP(using File->Administration->Compile) for some security reasons and moved this .REP to same Oracle Apps 11.5.10 Server but the program ends up with this below error.
REP-0002: Unable to retrieve a string from the Report Builder message file.
REP-1439: Can anyone plz help me in any other ways to convert RDF to REP which can work in 11.5.10.
    Thanks,
    Vinkum

Where are you testing this? From Reports Builder?
Or via the application that calls the report? If so, I think you may be running the old version. Did you copy the report to the correct location?
Maybe there is an old .rep version and now you are trying to run the new .rdf version? A compiled .rep takes preference over a .rdf.
Did you check the vertical elasticity property of the fields and frames?

  • Report Builder RDF, XML, REP and Version Control

I'm looking to convert our existing RDF reports to XML format to better support version control and have a few questions.
    - Are there any issues with converting these RDF files to XML and developing them going forward?
    - When it's time to deploy to the server we'll convert them to RDF or REP. Any issues?
    - This question was asked before, [Thread: Oracle Reports Builder - RDF vs XML|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=721959], but that was over 3 years ago. Have the issues been resolved?
    - Is anyone currently following the workflow I've outlined with success?

    Hi Michael,
Per my understanding that you want to find a solution for version control when you design the report using the Report Builder 3.0, right?
As you know that Report Builder is a tool which can only work on one single file instead of a project , so the current version of Report Builder doesn't have these capabilities. You can submit a feature request about it on the  Microsoft UserVoice site
    here:
    http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forums/121579-visual-studio/category/53187-sql-bi-tools-srs-ssis-ssas-
Generally, visual Studio Team System and Visual Source Safe integrate with the Visual Studio/BIDS shell and third-party source control solutions like SVN managed from the file system play well with version control. So I would suggest you to consider use
    them instead.
In conclusion, one possible workaround for you is that you can save all .rdl files in third part tool’s(TFS) workspace folder for version control purpose (check in, check out with the Windows Shell Extension), and you can use Report Builder to edit these
report files. Then use Report Builder to deploy the .rdl file to Report Server.

  • REPORT with dynamic WHERE CLAUSE (run RDF or REP) ?

    Hi:
When running a REPORT (myreport.rep) with dynamic where clause using a lexical parameter, I got this error:
REP-1439: Cannot compile .REP or .PLX file as it does not have source
If i run the report specifiying RDF extension (myreport.rdf) the report run successfully! Is this normal ?
If I specify RDF extension will Report Server COMPILE the report everytime I execute it ?
When using dynamic WHERE CLAUSE I will have to run RDF files instead of REP ?
I'm running Reports 9i under Linux, with IDS under Windows.
    Waiting Help
    Joao Oliveira

It sounds like you are building the .rep files on one platform (windows) and running them on another (linux). The reason that the .rdf file continues to work is that Reports recompiles the PL/SQL within the report when you move from one platform to another or change schemas. .rep files can't be re-compiled in this way so you need to ensure they are compiled successfully when converting them.
You need to convert from .rdf to .rep on the platform that you are intending to run on. Try running rwconverter on the linux platform with "compile_all=yes" to produce the .rep file and running that .rep file.

  • Converting .rdf data model to xml output thru conc program

    Dear Members :
I am trying to convert .rdf data model(Reports 10g) into XML tag, by creating Concurrent Program Report Definition, setting output type as XML.But when running the CP, getting following error:
XML Parsing Error: XML declaration not well-formed
    Location: http://oel4.localdomain:8000/OA_CGI/FNDWRR.exe?temp_id=2393533895
    Line Number 1, Column 31:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="&Encoding"?>
All I want is save output in Oracle Apps (11i) as .XML to be used later for XML publisher, in MS Word. The above procedure should have worked fine, as seen, in other posts.
    Any clue, please ?
    Thanks in advance.

It's solved by changing xml prolog value to <?xml version="1.0"?>. This is closed issue - thanks.

    Hi,
you may use the executable rwconverter.exe/rwconverter.sh. The tool converts into all supported formats. It is availabe in batch mode as well as with a user interface.
On MS Windows you can access it either from within Builder (Menue:Tools - Converter) or from START - ...- <Oracle Developer Suite_home> - Reports Developer -Oracle Application Server Reports Services

  • Convert rdf report into Word document.

    Hello,
I am using Developer 2000 from designing reports.
I nees to convert one of my report(rdf) in word document.
    How can i do that??
    Thanks..

    Hello,
You cannot convert a RDF into a Word Document but you can generate a RTF file from a RDF file.
Example with reports 6i runtime :
    rwrun60 report=test destype=file desname=c:\temp\output.rdf desformat=rtf userid=scott/tiger@db

  • Reports -- RDF or  REP ????

    Friends,
Could you pls throw some light on the two questions as mentioned below.
    1) After you create a new report in Oracle Apps and after you have registered it in AOL in which directory do you save/store it ?
    2) Do you register the REP or RDF version of the report in AOL ?
Do you save the REP or RDF version of the report in the folder/directory ?
    With thanks,

Sujay G 1) you save it in the $PRODUCT_TOP/reports directory associated with the application you registered in. e.g. $FND_TOP/reports
    2. RDF (but I "think" either may work, concurrent mgr picks the faster one if available)

  • Convert rdf to rex in batch

    Hello
I have to convert many reports to .rex format for analysing.
My Problem is (as described as solution in file format problem that a batch with the line
    FOR %%F in (*.rdf) DO rwcon60 userid=xy/yx@zz STYPE=RDFFILE BATCH=YES DTYPE=REXFILE SOURCE=%%F
does not work. I think its because %%F has the filename including '.rdf', while rwconf60 expects the name without extension.
    Does anybony know a solution?
    Yours
    Marcus

rwcon60 can take the source in filename.rdf format.
I tried this out and it works.
    for %%F in (*.rdf) do rwcon60 source=%%F stype=rdffile dtype=rexfile batch=yes userid=scott/tiger@nt805
You have to keep all the .rdf reports that you want to convert, in the same directory where you run your batch file.
Also note that, rwcon60 itself can take a list of files as source at a time.
    For example,
    rwcon60 source=(rep1.rdf,rep2.rdf,rep3.rdf) userid=scott/tiger@nt805 stype=rdffile dtype=rexfile batch=yes

  • Why use rdf instead rep files

hi guys, in my company we are giving a service of moving an aplication developped on form6i and report 4.5 to 10g.
they want the reports compiled and not as sources. we know we must use rdf and not rep files but we don't know WHY?
if some can reference some information and let me know if there is a way to use on 10g the rep files, i will aprecciate it.
thanks in advance you wise guys.

    Good morning,
Here is a reason for running .RDF files instead of .REP files:
Note: To run a report for which a database role is defined, the end
user must run the .rdf file, not the .rep file. When running multiple
reports, Reports Runtime automatically switches to the role defined
    for the current report.{size}
This is out of the 10G Reports Manual.
    Don.
