Convert to eps

Hello,
I found a solution for batching Adobe Illustrator (automatically) with VBS without start it  (batch).
Now I am looking for a possibility to convert a PDF file to an EPS -file with Adobe Acrobat XI Pro also without to start it.
I found the possibility with JavaScript BUT ONLY INSIDE Acrobat XI. What I need is a possibility to do it "outside" Acrobat XI => with batch.
Can somebody help me?
PS. sorry for my english ;-)

Karl you are great! Thanks!
With "your" (from the article)  help I wrote this:
In C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\Acrobat\Javascripts
I create a  "folder level JavaScript"  file with:
function asEPS(EPSName)
console.clear();
console.show();
zpath = "/C/Users/me/AppData/Local/name/";
this.saveAs(zpath + EPSName +".eps", "com.adobe.acrobat.eps");
this.CloseAllDocs();
return "OK";
Then whereever create a .VBS-File with:
StartFolder = "C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\name"
Set gApp = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
Set gPDDoc = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
Set FSO=CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set Folder=FSO.GetFolder(StartFolder)
For Each File in Folder.Files
  If FSO.GetExtensionName(File.Name) = "pdf" Then
   DateiName = FSO.GetBaseName(File.Name)
   gPDDoc.Open(StartFolder & "/" & File.Name)
   Set jso = gPDDoc.GetJSObject
   jso.asEPS(DateiName)
  End if
Next
Done.
Now I can call the VBS-File (with a double-click) and Acrobat will create EPS files from ALL *.PDF -Files in Folder "C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\name"
Thank you so much!

    Open in an editor that can open/save both formats and then save as JPEG. You can do this in Illustrator as well as some other software.

  • How do I convert an eps file to a PLT file?

    Hi,
    I need to convert some eps files to a PLT  to use on my laser engraver. The engraver program is PC based and won't accept the eps files. I can use jpg but I think I would get a clearer result if I kept it as a vector base file.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Acrobat 9.0 (Windows XP) I Need help converting an EPS to PDF

    When I try to convert an eps to pdf in acrobat 9.0 I get this error message %%[ Warning: Empty job. No PDF file produced. ] %%
    Does anyone know how to fix this problem? If you could give me a step by step instruction on how to do so it would be great because I am a new user.

    Try opening Distiller first (do not drag it) so that you can see the messages on screen. There is typically a log file produced also. For some reason, it appears that you are getting the message and it has no basic info included, but it may not be complete. I will not say that I can read all of the log files, but it is the starting place. Another alternative is to try to post the EPS file (hopefully not too big) for us to download and try ourselves. Unfortunately, I can not try AA9 that I do not have, only 4 different earlier versions.

  • Converting Multiple .EPS files into .PDF

    Dear Forum:  We have tried converting multiple .eps files into PDF using article 325977. This article in Adobe help is really designed to convert .ai files into either .eps or.pdf, our situation is to convert multiple .eps files into PDF. Everytime we run the macro, it simply takes the eps file and saves it as another eps file and does not convert. We have a "Save As" step that we have in the macro that is set to "Save As" PDF, but it still does not work. What are we doing wrong?

  • How do I convert a .EPS file into a .SHP file (Shapefile)?

    Hello all,
    I have an .EPS file of custom regions that I need to convert to a .SHP file for a map in Mapbox.  Is this possible?  If so, how?  Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

    Larry,
    Thanks for all of your help with this issue I was having.
    We were able to import the image into Mapbox by converting it into a GeoTiff file using Python.  Though this was achieved, the image did not work in the way we wanted it.  In the end, we decided to grab a shapefile and created layers that replicated the image we wanted to convert.  If we had more money in our budget, I would have most certainly suggested that we go the ArcGIS route.

  • Indesign CS5 converting spot EPS or AI files to process

    I have two EPS files placed in my cover layout that are being changed to CMYK. They are using a spot colour in the EPS file but they don't show as spot in Indesign. The separations don't list them. It's hard to say if this is a problem with Illustrator or Indesign, but it's a huge problem. Saving as AI doesn't help - same thing.

    it seems to me that it's a bad idea to completely override a user's colour plate simply because of similar naming. If it's not a bug, it should at least warn you very obviously that your spot colours are being overridden by an end user. At the very least, it should be flagged by Preflighting. When you work with templates that are coming from other users or companies like this, it's not clear what's been converted, since you can have something marked as a spot but not be a pantone. You're assuming that the user has controlled every stage of a document workflow, which often isn't the case.
    This is really bad to leave this as is. Like I said, if I hadn't scanned our plates on pre-press, I'd have a very angry Bell Canada as a client (not for much longer), who likely wouldn't want to pay full rate.

  • Problem with logo size when converted to eps

    I am brand new to Illustrator. I have created a logo and converted it to an eps file. My problem is that when I use the logo, it is a big square with a lot of empty space on the bottom. I sized the art board to the area around the logo but when I convert it I still get this big square with the logo on the top part when I paste it into my word document. How do I get it cropped down to the correct size. I have someone waiting for this and I can't even get it in a format they can use.

    Sounds like there is a hidden element somewhere forcing the entire document to wherever that element is, even outside the artboard.  Just a hunch.  Do a Command Y ( Mac ) or Control Y ( PC ) to see outlines.  Then, do a "Select All" and see if the element shows up anywhere.  Find it and delete it.  Now, maybe there is no hidden element.  This is what I do for every logo I've prep'd:  A.) if the artwork is 2" h x 3" w ( hypothetically speaking ), set your artboard size to 3 x 5.  Set an imaginary holding line to the 3x5 size by applying a rectangle 3x5 with no stroke and no fill > then Lock it ( Object > Lock selection ).  You may benefit by Exporting the artwork as an RGB .tiff and using that in Word.  However, you can import or insert an .eps in Word, but whatever works better.  Hope this helps.

    When a co-worker converts the same file, she doesn't have any issues. I'm using Acrobat Pro v8.3.1. The files I need to convert are Quark files. Can anyone please help?

    It sounds like the file you were trying to convert was corrupt. Can you look at the eps file with a text editor to see if you find anything denoting the command "snow"? What version of Acrobat does your co-worker have?

  • Preview not saving when converting multiple .eps files to .pdf

    Hi,
    I have a macbook pro with snow leopard. I open a group of .eps image files using preview into the same window. I then shut the window with "cmd w". It says do you want to save all. I click save all. But then no saves are made.
    If i open the group of .eps files using preview into separate windows and click "cmd w", then click save, it tries to save as untitled.pdf as opposed to "filename".pdf.
    I previously used preview on a powerbook to convert .eps images to .pdf. In that version of preview the files would open in their own window. When i hit "cmd w" and save it would use save file as "filename".pdf.
    Why does the newer version of preview not at least do this? Preferably the new version of preview would save all the .eps files as a batch as stated in my first sentence.
    Does anyone have any ideas what i can do?

    Possibly similar problem:
    When I open a JPEG in Preview, adjust the quality, and try to Save As, it simply saves as the original, not the new reduced-quality file. This is true even if I save it in a new location.
    - open a 200kb JPEG
    - try to Save As with quality reduced to only 50kb
    - it saves as the original 200kb file

  • How can I convert an .eps created in AI to a transparent .png

    The logo I created in AI is beautiful.  I would like an equally beautiful transparent .png for use on my website.  Is this possible?

    Reddafodil,
    Remember to tick Transparency.
    I would like an equally beautiful transparent .png
    Then you should use (at least) PNG24, and certainly not GIF which only has a very limited number of colours; PNG24 has many more than PNG8.

  • What are my options for opening EPS files in Elements 13? What is the best way to convert these to another type of vector file?

    I "upgraded" from Photoshop Elements... uh... mad old... to Elements 13 when my work computer got "upgraded" to Win8. Now I can't open EPS files which is how I receive collateral from our ad agency. What other vector files will work, and how can I convert EPS to these? Please be gentle if this is a stupid question - I know enough to be dangerous, but I'm not an expert at design by any means. I'm just frustrated because this isn't quite the "dead" file type that Adobe thinks it is. What was the point of upgrading if I'm pretty much left in the lurch?
    Thanks to any and all who can help! Much appreciated . -ASI

    What's important to understand is that Elements is a 'pixel' editor, not a 'vector' editor. As such, it has very limited 'vector' capacity (fonts, shapes...) What you are missing from older versions is the ability to convert vector items to standard pixel image file. To be able to open and work on eps files, you'd need Adobe Illustrator, which seems overkill for your purpose.
    So, your options are:
    - to request your ad agency to supply pdf format images instead of eps ones. My guess is that eps is beeing largely superseded by pdf, but I am not sure...
    - Use external tools to convert from eps to jpeg; a Google search would return free softwares like Irfanview or web based conversion.
    - You might want to keep (or reinstall) older Elements versions just for that purpose.

  • Converting eps to pdf in Preview

    I have a large quantity of eps files that I would prefer to be in a much more useful and accessible format.
    In tests that I have made, I have found that Preview is not only very fast at converting the eps files to pdfs, it also crops them to their bounding box and results in an extremely tight file size.
    I would love to use Preview now to convert my collection but it is a massive job and I need to batch convert them, resaving converted pdfs back into the same folders with their original names or some sensible over-arching name + numbers for sets of files.
    Also useful would be to create a custom preview icon on each file so I can scour them in Finder
    I looked at Automator and smart folders to do this for me, but I can't see how to actually get it to work. It only shows bitmap formats in the Preview actions.
    Anybody have any practical solutions?
    I could see similar tasks with other file formats as being extremely useful too.
    Thanks for any assistance you can offer.
    btw iPhoto doesn't like pdfs! Any other way to get a neat catalog of the collection when I'm finished?

    I recommend Graphic Converter: http://lemkesoft.de/ which is capable of converting any image format to any other. It has batch actions too, but they may be disabled in the free trial version. Batch actions are extremely convenient. If you get GC I will help set you up.
    Preview is not scriptable.

  • Problems converting eps to PDF in Distiller - claims "file is in use"

    Hi,
    I've recently starting having a problem in Distiller (the version that same with Acrobat 9). When I try to convert EPS files, I get the message "Cannot open the file. The file is being used by another process". This is a new problem, only a month or two ago it worked fine. The only thing I can think of that may have changed is
    a) Adobe Reader was updated, I believe
    b) in an effort to speed up my computer, I tried removing a number of items from my startup. But I've put them all back in, I think. Here's what's running (although I did start Acrotray manually, and it seems to close when Disteller closes.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi, Bill,
    Ok, well, the problem is still here. I have updated the program. Created
    new eps files that have never been open in Distiller (or any other
    program) .When I try to use Distiller, I get the same message; Cannot
    open this file. The file is being used by another process."
    i have copied the directory to another drive - no change.
    Possible clue: If I try to delete a file from Distiller/File/Open, it
    again tells me that the file is already open and so can't be deleted.
    How strange that it would think the file is still open. It does this
    after a fresh boot, when my first action after booting is to open
    Distiller and try to convert an EPS file.
    I CAN combine the EPS files within Acrobat by using Combine/Merge files
    into a single PDF. But of course that's horribly slow and only an
    emergency solution.
    Using Acrobat 9 Pro version 9.2.0
    Windows 7 professional service pack 1
    16 gigs of RAM
    Here's what's running:
    any more ideas?
    Thanks!
