Hi All,
I am facing an issue in converting a string to number. I have tried with tonumber() but its throwing error. The string list is as below:
101,414.61
1,129,635.54
1,036.25
1,119.33
1,129,635.54
Note:- Plz check that comma separation is there in between numbers and also have decimal point.
Kindly help me in this......................

Thanks for the reply........
But the Syntax of ToNumber() will not support this format.........
While I use this I am getting Syntax error...............

    If there is a non numeric String in your Field<x> columns in any row the error will occor.

  • Using scan from string to convert a string into a number

    I wanted to use scan from string to change a string into a decimal number, but when the string is, for example, 9.14123E-2 it just returns 10. How can I get it to return .00914 or 9.14E-2(as a number not a string). Would there be something easier than scan from string? I'm using labview 5.1. Thank you!

  • Converting string to float number

    Here's what I'm trying to do. The user types a number, such as 12.011, in an input box. I want to check to see if the number they typed is between two numbers, such as 12 and 12.1. Therefore, I want to convert the string in the input box to a float number, not an integer, so I can check to see if it's in the correct range. How do I convert a string into a float number?
    thanks

    Did you try:
    Number(textinput1.text);
    if(Number(textinput1.text)>12 && Number(textinput1.text)<12.1)

  • How do I convert a string to a double, a number loses the precision

    I tried converting a string to a double but that limits the precision. I need to convert a string to a double.

    If you use the Scan From String function, the default is to convert to a dbl. If you're looking at a front panel indicator, don't confuse the format and precision of the indicator with the type representation. You can set the indicator to display as many digits as you want but that doesn't change the actal number stored in memory.

  • UCCX: unable to convert string into a number

    Hi all,
    I used the Get Digit String to pull a 4 digital numbers (stored as variable sYear) from a caller, this number is obviously stored as a string. Then i used 'set iYear=sYear' to conver this string to an integer.
    I debuged the script, when I entered number of year without following #, it worked fine. If I entered number of year and followed by #, i got the message 'unable to conver string into a number'. Can someone help me with that?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Reena,
    The UCCX version is 10.5.1.
    I found the problem. It works after i changed input length to 5.  'The terminating key overrides the Maximum Input Length to terminate input'.
    Thanks.

  • How do I know if I can convert a String value to an int value or not?

    Hi,
    I want to know how to make the judgment that if I can convert a String value to an int value or not? Assume that I don't know the String is number or letters
    Thank you

    Encephalopathic wrote
    Again, why?One of the problems (have been dued) in my codelab asks us to write a class as follow
    Write a class definition of a class named 'Value' with the following:
    a constructor accepting a single integer paramter
    a constructor with no parameters
    a method 'setVal' that accepts a single parameter,
    a boolean method, 'wasModified' that returns true if setVal was ever called for the object.
    a method 'getVal' that returns an integer value as follows: if setVal has ever been called, it getVal returns the last value passed to setVal. Otherwise if the "single int parameter" constructor was used to create the object, getVal returns the value passed to that constructor. Otherwise getVal returns 0.
    The setVal(int y) returns nothing, so how do I know whether it has been called or not?

  • Convert a String to Decimal Format in European format

    Hi Experts,
    I am having a string as a context type for a input field, where the user can enter the Price, I need to convert the same into European format "###.###,00", I am using this below code to convert the string to decimal format
    User will enter the input as 10 as it needs to be converted into 10,00. Also, 1000 which has to be converted as 1.000,00
    String Str1 = wdContext.currentvn_temptable.getVa_TempUnitPrice();
    Locale mylocale  = Locale.GERMAN;
    String pattern="###.###,00";
    NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getNumberInstance(mylocale);
    DecimalFormat df = (DecimalFormat)nf;
    df.applyPattern(pattern);
    String output = df.format(Str1);
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Unit Price" + " " + pattern + " " + output);
    When I execute the above code, i am getting an error called "Malformed Pattern ###.###,00"
    Please let me know, how to convert a String to Quantity in European format
    Thanks & Regards,
    Palani

    Hello!
    Try to change your pattern to this one
    Locale mylocale  = Locale.GERMAN;
    String pattern = "#,#00.00";
    NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getNumberInstance(mylocale);
    DecimalFormat df = (DecimalFormat)nf;
    df.applyPattern(pattern);
    String output = df.format(1111111.222);
    Pattern has an influence on number of digits between separators, but you have to use ',' for grouping and '.' for decimal. Character values for separators correspond to your Locale object.
    Thanks, Mikhail

    In your post you ask how to convert a string value to a date.  The value returned from the Get-AdUser is already a date.  It does not need to be converted.
    Bill has sshown one way to convert a date to a string and there are other methods.  You need to clarify your question.
    If you are really trying ot convert strings to dates then you can start with this:
    [datetime]'01/21/1965 13:33:23'
    Most date strings aer autodetected by the class.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Problem in converting the String to Date with time zone GMT

    Hi,
    When I tried to convert the string 12/05/2009 to Date, the time zone is set to BST.On the other hand, for the date 12/12/2009, the time zone is set to GMT. What should I do to get the time zone as GMT all the time.?
    SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
    String dateString = "12/05/2009";
    System.out.println(myDate.toString());

    I think you are all missing the point. java.util.Date objects always alway always store the date as the number of milliseconds since 1/1/1970 UTC so the only TimeZone they have its the implicit UTC. When you use the Date.toString() method the toString() method gets the default time zone from your environment and formats the data accordingly. This means that the same Date object will, by default, produce a different result for France and Australia and the US.
    So, if you have the date "12/5/2009" as a String then to convert it to a java.util.Date you must specify what TimeZone is implied. If it is your system time zone then you can just create a SimpleDateFormat object with the correct format and then use the parse() method to create the java.util.Date object and this will automatically be converted to UTC. If the date String represents some other time zone then you must explicitly set the time zone of the SimpleDateFormat object before parsing the string.
    The same approach applies when converting a java.util.Date object to a String. If you want anything other than your system time zone then you must explicitly tell the SimpleDateFormat what time zone you want the result formatted for.

  • How do I convert a string, and use a string as a property?

    I have an array in the following format:
    {ownsCar: 'true', ownsBike: 'true', ownsHouse: 'true'}
    {ownsCar: 'false', ownsBike: 'true', ownsHouse: 'true'}
    {ownsCar: 'true', ownsBike: 'false', ownsHouse: 'true'}
    etc ............
    And I need to test against each item e.g.
    if...
    myDataGrid[myItem].ownsCar == Object(myCheckbox).label
    ... then
    if...
    myDataGrid[myItem].ownsBike == Object(myCheckbox).label
    ... then
    if...
    myDataGrid[myItem].ownsHouse == Object(myCheckbox).label
    ... then
    But I need to build my application where the property (e.g. "ownsCar", "ownsBike", "ownsHouse") is a variable such as:
    if...
    myDataGrid[myItem].myProperty == Object(myCheckbox).label
    ... then
    I would like to loop through my Array, counting the number of items, and then use each item as a property.
    How would I convert the string (e.g. "ownsCar") into a property "myProperty" ???
    Many thanks in advance
    Chris

    Thanks, but my problem is that I won't know what my property will be.
    E.g. they could be...
    {svnsdkvnsdklvnsdklv: 'true', seuAfnwfnw: 'true', asfwseionf: 'true', etc.................}
    and there could be lots of them.
    I need to have myObject[N], where N is a variable property for each of the items taken from a variable length array
    so...
    ownsCar is represented by myObject.[N]
    ownsHouse is represented by myObject.[N+1]
    ownsBike is represented by myObject.[N+2]
    etc
    (sorry, this is so difficult to explain when I dont know what the answer is)

  • Convert hexadecimal output to decimal (number)

    I am reading hexadecimal format from the output of the VISA read block and I want to convert it to the decimal preferably exponential format.
    Example of what I read is 76 00 02 (in dec: 7.600 E+2).
    I know there is "type cast" block that converts nicelly but I am not sure what to specify for a type input.
    Can you show me how to apply this type cast block for in my VI so that it converts hex string (76 00 02) into exponential string/number (7.600 E+2)?
    I attached my VI so it is more clear.

    Looking at your code I see that you have not a hexadecimal string coming
    back but instead a binary string. The fact that you display the string
    as hexadecimal in the string indicator is just showing you the ASCII
    codes of the string characters as hexadecimal numbers.
    The funct
    ion From Hexadecimal String expects a clear text string with
    hexadecimal characters but that is something entirely different from a
    binary string you choose to display as hexadecimal numbers.
    An example: the binary string 7600 02 you receive from the device is in
    fact the character 'v', a null character and a 02 character (or in ASCII
    terms a start of text character).
    So assuming your example is right (which I have to admit seems very
    strange and therefore suspicious to me) you would have to do something
    more like included example. But as I said I have little understanding
    why the hexadecimal interpretation of the binary values should
    correspond to the decimal value you want to have!
    Also as you can see there is not really clear where the 00 character
    belongs to. The two methods where it is either part of the multiplier or
    the exponent both produce the same result for this particular example.
    Which one is right if any, should be tested.
