Converting a value like 2005M06 into 2005 MonthName

Is there a way i can write a function or formula to convert to change the value of a column from being displayed from 2005M06 to 2005 Month name? I tried Year function and monthname function and they give errors since its not a calendar date? any suggestions

you should try string functions .... for example, create the following calculated columns for that:
Year -formula - left ("you original column",4)
Month - formula - CASE WHEN right ("you original column",2) = '01' THEN 'Jan' WHEN right ("you original column",2) = '02' THEN 'Feb' ... etc. etc. END
Result Column formula - concat(Year column, concat(' ',Month column))

  • Convert numeric values in colomn into names

    Hi experts,
    Here's the situation (probably very easy to solve but could only sort it out for month's, date's etc);
    Colomn name: Gender
    Values: 0 (=female), 1 (=male)
    I want to convert these 0 and 1 into a new colomn with the genders in names instead of numbers so i can make a proper merge in Word.

    You can do it with a simple CASE WHEN Statement:
    SELECT *
    ,CASE WHEN Gender = 0 THEN 'female' ELSE 'male' END As GenderName
    FROM yourTable

    My prime issue is to convert the values in the arraycollection into String variables.
    Please help me on the ablve matter..! Thanks in advance..!

    fromStation and toStation are already Strings, but you are attempting to cast an ArrayCollection entry to a SectorsVO object. The problem is that SectorsVO has a no-arg constructor and the entry that you are attemping to cast is not of type SectorsVO. You need to modify the constructor to accept an Object and manually assign values to the properties.
    It sounds like you are trying to build a CSV string out of all of the values of one of the fields. What you can do is loop through the draggedSectors and pull out the desired property, placing it into a temporary Array. After the loop, simply use Array.join(",") to produce a CSV string.

    I want to convert a series of names into a table (in either numbers or pages). The list I have has a name and then an email address in brackets, followed by a 'yes' or a 'no'. I would like to separate the list into three columns - the first containing the name, the second containing the email address and the third containing the 'yes' or 'no'.
    Can you help me ?

    The question that needs to be answered is what is separating the columns? Is it a single tab, one or more tabs, spaces, or what?  Or is it the brackets that makes the separation between the three pieces of data?
    If it is always a single tab, that makes it really easy.  All you have to do is find/replace the brackets with nothing (as Wayne said)
    If it might be multiple tabs, you can find/replace tab-tab with a single tab and repeat that a few times until no more double-tabs are found.
    If it is one or multiple spaces, that might be difficult. I'll think about this one if this is what you have. I'll ignore this possiblility for now.
    If it is the brackets separating the three pieces of data, you would Find/Replace the left bracket with a tab then do the same with the right bracket.

  • How can I use pdf pack to convert cubase documents  (music scores)  into pdfs? I am looking for the former possibility to install acrobat like a printer but i don't have this option with "pdf pack". Can you help?

    How can I use pdf pack to convert cubase documents  (music scores)  into pdfs? I am looking for the former possibility to install acrobat like a printer but i don't have this option with "pdf pack". Can you help?

    Hi mariab,
    What format are those music scores (I'm not familiar with cubase documents). But, it may be that Adobe PDF Pack doesn't support that format. In that case, Acrobat is the way to go. You can then print your files to PDF as you'd like. You're welcome to try Acrobat for free for 30 days to see whether it's going to work for you. If you decide it is, and you'd like to use it going forward, you could convert your PDF Pack subscription into an Acrobat subscription.

  • Convert a value into an enum

    I'm using enums that have assigned values, like so:enum Alphabet {
           a(101), b(135), c(22), d(5);
           private final int value;
           Alphabet(int i) { value = i; }
    }OK, so I can get a value from an Alphabet object by Alphabet item;
    item = Alphabet.c;
    int i = c.value;Cool. But how do I go the other way, where I have an int value and I need to get the corresponding Alphabet object? Is that what EnumMap is for? If so it seems kind of inefficient, since my values can be all over the map, so to speak.

    What's wrong with this?
    enum Alphabet {
    a(101), b(135), c(22), d(5);}
    I can't get that to compile. You have to provide a constructor in the enum to tell it what the values in the ()s means.
    Is there some reason the alphabet isn't a character
    array instead?My example of Alphabet was just generic. My real application is using enum to describe possible values within a protocol structure.

  • Convert data values in columns to another value based on a math formula

    ISSUE:
    I have a database of emergency incidents with descriptive data and longitude and

    PROBLEM:
    I have written some code in Transact SQL that will convert the values. But I am at a loss as to how to do the following:
    1.) plug in the X Y values from my database using an sql SELECT statement.

    3.) output the results.

    Notice that each subsequent CROSS APPLY depends on a "working value" column being defined in some previous cross apply, or the working query.  There are a few other options, such as leaving off the very last Cross Apply, and computing Longitude as part
    of the main query at the beginning, but it works either way.
    EDIT: P.S. - By the way, this query is based on the formula in the original poster's query.  My formula matches that formula, and I bet it's right (as far as the lat/long conversion), but it could be the formula for Soylent Green, and I wouldn't know any
    better... :-)

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.
