  • Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert 206 Page Word Document into PDF

    Hi there
As menetioned above, Acrobat XI Pro Won't Convert my 206 Page Word Document into a PDF.  The Word document was originally a PDF file that I converted to Word and it has split all the text into sections.
It sounds like converting a PDF into Word isn't the best way to edit, re-format and then save as a PDF again.  I would love to hear your advice on this.
Thanks very much for your help!
    Fiona

First before you recreate the PDF from the Word Document.
    In word: Open Document
Next open a new Blank docment
switch back to Word click on the ¶ button
scroll to of go to very end of docment.
click just to right of the perion in the last sentence.
now go to very beginning of document
Hold down the Shift and click to the right of first letter in document.
    Now choose copy.
    Now switch to Blank document
    Choose Paste special.
    Now choose Text only.
If works all the words will be there spaced correct but with no ¶'s.
    Now insert returns as desired.
Now save as a docx file under a different name.
IF you are on a Mac use the following directions:
go to File menu > Print > PDF Hold down PDF button until Context menu pops up.
    Choose adobe PDF.
follow steps when the first window opens.
Save as PDF in desired location.
Now open the PDF in Acrobat. Document should be properly formatted and ready to go.
AS you've found The conversion is not seamless. Acrobat doesn't distingish between automatic end of line breaks and Returns and you have to put the pieces back again.  I wish Adobe and MS would get over the jealouscy of each other and share howcode works so Thatapplications could work seamlessly together.  BUt they never will.

  • Problems converting from MS Word 2007 to PDF using LiveCycle Designer 8

    Hi all,
Hope anybody out there could assist me. have a Word document (we are using
Office 2007) and I'm trying to use Adobe Live Cycle Designer 8.0 to convert
a form from word to pdf. However, I get an error message (as shown in the
    image below)
Is this a compatibility problem with Office 07?
    Appreciate all the assistance.
    Thanks and regards.

    Hi Peggy,
I found a solution in a tech note from the adobe site:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=329044&sliceId=2
2007 is a little tricky, since the instructions it gives are for Office 2003.
In 2007 I went into "Word Options" from that funky button at the top of the Word window.
From there, go into "Add Ins".
At the bottom where it says "Manage" select "Com Add Ins" then click "Go".
You should have a list that includes the Acrobat PDFMaker Office Add In. My Add In file is located at: \\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\PDFMaker\Office\PDFMOfficeAddin.dll
The document finally converted, but it couldn't autodetect any of the form fields I'd placed on the original Word Document (.docx). Still looking for an answer on that one.
    Good luck.

  • Unable to convert MS Word document to PDF document

Hi, I've not been able to convert a MS Word document to PDF version.  I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Pro Extenstion.  I've uninstalled & reinstalled the SW & used to be able to do this task.

The followings are the error messages, thanks.
This error can be caused by:
General problems: The printer may be unavailable, the network may be down, the communication port to the printer may be corrupt or unavailable, a hardware error at the computer may have occurred (out of paper, paper jam, out of ink, out of toner, etc), and a language setting may need to be reset from the Regional Options control panel.
Local problems: There are several reasons for a local printer (a printer that is attached directly to your computer) to fail:
Check to make sure the printer has paper, ink, and/or toner and check the cables.
If the printer appears to be functional and a printer test by the printer itself indicates the printer is working properly, then check the cables, printer port from the computer, and configuration of the printer at the computer.
Occasionally, an application can develop a conflict with the printer driver and cause a memory leak which corrupts the printer port. If all else fails, restart the computer, recycle the power to the printer, and try printing again.
Occasionally it is even necessary to delete the printer driver and reinstall the latest version of the printer driver.
Network problems: There are various reasons for a network printer to be inaccessible: the name may have changed, it may be out of paper, out of ink, out of toner, down for maintenance, the network could be down, or a printer job previous to yours has stalled due to incorrect settings on the user's computer who last submitted a print job, or even your printer driver cannot communicate correctly with the printer. Network related printer failures are usually best handled by your local technical support.
Memory problems:On occasion, large print jobs with complex graphics or consisting of several hundred pages, which can consume large quantities of memory on the printer, may cause a problem (especially if there was an over run of memory at the printer). You may want to try reducing the amount of complex graphics in your print job, or break the print job up into smaller segments and see if that corrects your problem. It is not uncommon for a very complex graphic to have a defect or error which prevents it from printing on any printer. It may be necessary to load new or revised graphic converters or drivers in order to alleviate a problem of this type.

  • Importing text from large Word document ID freeze

I'm converting a large Word document to PDF via InDesign and when I import the text from the Word doc, ID always freezes.
I want to preserve the styles and formatting in the text but unfortunately the freeze occurs at the beginning where the Placing Microsoft Office Word 2007 document progress bar shows either "Processing character attributes..." or "Processing table attributes..."
My problem is that it is such a large document with lots of italics, bolds and styles that I would like to take over to InDesign in order to speed up the design process.

RTF will be fine and will retain all the Bold and Italic and other styles. RTF stands for RICH TEXT FORMAT and I think it's better than the standard .doc saved from Word; for importing to InDesign.
    Try these steps.
    In Word:
    File>Save As
Choose RTF (that way you are not overwriting the original file)
    In InDesign:
Start a new document - completely blank - don't worry about page size (A4 will do) and don't worry about margins (standard margins will do)
Use File>Place and import the RTF file you just saved
If that imports ok - then select all the text
File>Export and choose RTF (rich text format)
Now use that new RTF to import to your layout
(there is no need to worry about images, you should reimport all  images that are in Word through File>Place; if you have any images in  your Word document. Make sure you use the same source file as when you  placed into Word)
The reasons for the steps above is because there is a lot of unnecessary styles made with Word - and importing to InDesign and a fresh Export to RTF makes a cleaner file to use with InDesign.

  • How do I access Adobe from Word to convert a word document to pdf?

How to I access an Adobe command in Word to convert a Word document to pdf?

Certain versions of Word will have an Adobe PDF menu in the ribbon, which allows you to convert the Word file you're viewing to a PDF directly, maintaining all the links, bookmarks, destinations, etc. in it.
The other option is to use the PDF Printer and print the Word document to a PDF. This will result in a "flat" copy of the file, without any of the meta-elements described above. Basically the same as printing it out, only you use a virtual printer that generates a PDF file.

  • Create PDF from a Word document within Acrobat

    Hi!
I am having trouble to create a PDF from a Word document within Acrobat itself, and not by using PDF Maker in Word. When I try to create a PDF using Acrobat, it gives me the choice to choose any Office format file, but Word format doesn't appear. I can convert from an Excel document or a PowerPoint document, but not from a Word document, even if Word 2010 is installed and works perferctly. Why?
I know I can make a PDF in Word itself by printing to the Adobe PDF printer or by using PDF Maker, but I want to resolve the issue in Acrobat that prevents me to select a Word document in the Create PDF dialog window. You can see the dialog box in the screenshot attached.
    Any help would be appreciated.
I am using Acrobat X version 10.1.8 on Windows 7 Home Premium and I have Office 2010 installed (with Word 2010).

Thanks for your reply. PDF Maker works in all of my Office applications. However, in Acrobat, the file formats available for me to create PDF from figure all the Office file formats except the one for Word. This is not normal. At my school, Acrobat X and Office 2007 are installed, and I can use there both PDF Maker in Word and creating PDF from Word document within Acrobat.
So I think maybe there's a key in my Windows registry that is not set correctly? or something like that. I repaired the installation of Office 2010, and I did so for Acrobat X too, but it doesn't help. Any idea of how I can resolve that?

  • Convert word document to PDF file in SAP

    Hello experts,
I've been searching around to get some code examples to upload a word document and convert it into a PDF file and then store it in unix. I hope one of you can help me, because many explanations and threads exist, but I did not get wiser reading them...
I don't want to use 3rd party tools to do the conversion, but do it directly in SAP with abap coding and if necessary spool processing.
    System details:
    SAP ECC 6.0 (unicode system)
    SAP_ABA     700     0014     SAPKA70014     Cross-Application Component
    SAP_BASIS     700     0014     SAPKB70014     SAP Basis Component
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
You can get the spool no from transaction SP01 and later use this spool no to convert the word document to PDF
using the function module CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF and give the import parameter as ur spool id.
once the doc gets converted to PDF u can use CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>FILE_SAVE_DIALOG
to get the path where the file is to be saved and later give the path to function module GUI_DOWNLOAD to download the file.
or else u can manually execute the following reports:
RSTXPDFT4  (give the spool no. as input)
RSPO0068  (give the word doc with its full path as input)
    Hope that helps u

  • How to convert a word document to pdf

How do I convert a word document to pdf

    Hi dionel33514362,
You can use either Adobe PDF Pack or Acrobat to convert Word documents to PDF.
Adobe PDF Pack is an online service, which allows you to upload files and convert them to PDF via a web interface.
See Acrobat Help | Create PDFs with Acrobat for information about creating PDF files in Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, please feel free to give it a try. You can download the free 30-day trial from the Acrobat link I mentioned above.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • Converting a word document to pdf loses bevel effect

Does anyone know why when converting a word document to pdf the bevel effect is completely lost?

Following up with AA XI and WORD 2010 on Win7. It worked find. Apparently WORD 2007 did not see the bevels and the do appear in WORD 2010. I also got the bevels using the Std job settings with both the Print and the PDF Maker. I am using 11.0.07, so if you are using an earlier version, you might consider updating to the most current version. Then again, you may not be using XI. I did note that the Print version used my default page size of letter rather than the A4 that PDF Maker picked up from the original document. That is easy to correct by paper selection in the printer properties. However, in both versions I saw issues that appear to be due to the printer metrics changes based on the Adobe PDF printer not being selected as the printer during editing. Two factors show up and make editing a bit harder -- no hard page breaks (ctrl-Enter) and the use of floating figures. The latter is something I have lots of problems with, but you may be good with them. However, when the document reflows that can still be a problem. I did see some reflow problems in both files, so it is something you need to go back and review.
    The bevels:
The Reflow Problem (from PDF Maker on A4 paper):
Maybe that helps some. So info on your versions of WORD, Acrobat, and OS would help isolate issues. As I mentioned, this Acrobat is 11.0.07. Don't know why WORD 2007 did not see your bevels.

  • Converting multiple word documents to PDF

I am converting hundreds of Word documents to individual PDF files.
I selecting 10 to 20 at a time to convert. Is there a way to
automatically save each PDF so I do not have to sit there and
press "save" for each new PDF file? Thanks in advance...

    Thanks for the reply...
I was selecting 20 or so files from my documents folder in "My Computer" and then right clicking. I would select "convert to PDF file" from the context menu.
This works great for making 20 different PDF files (which is what I am trying to do)... however, I have to sit there and wait for each file to be prepared to convert and then press save. This saves the file with the same name as the Word document (which is fine) but with
the .pdf extension. I was wondering if there was a way to automatically save each individual PDF (with same name as the Word document with PDF extension) so I could "set it and forget it."

  • Acrobat 11 Standard Office 2010 Pro Convert Word documents to PDF not working

    Adobe community,
I can create PDF's inside Word 2010 using the Acrobat Add-in but right clicking a Word document or dragging a Word document into Adobe Acrobat 11 Standard does not work. I have updated both Acrobat 11 and Office 2010 with the latest updates available. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi markl16215442,
In order to convert word document to PDF by right-clicking or dragging the file, you must have Adobe PDF printer installed.
For Windows, please check that Adobe PDF is set as default printer under "Start > Devices and Printers"
While for MAC, Adobe PDF printer option is no more available and as it was removed with some changes in Apple's policy regarding virtual printers.
So, check with your OS and then let me know.
    Regards,
    Anubha
