How do I convert a multiline text string into a single line text string

what's a multiline text string?
1) You have an array of string: simply use "string concatenate" to convert from array to scalar string.
2) Your string contains CR and/or NL characters: use "Search/Replace..." for this string, replace all EndOfLine chars by space (or which char you may prefer)...

Trouble with auto size text in a single line form field

Hi. I'm having an issue with filling out a form in Adobe Reader on my iPad. The text field is single line. The font is set to "auto" so that the line of text will not exceed a certain width. When filling out this form on my laptop using Adobe Reader, it works fine. As I type additional text, once the field is filled, it shrinks the text font size. On my iPad, however, it won't let me type any more text in the field once I reach the end. Does Adobe Reader for iPad not support the "auto" font size in form fields? And I did check that my version of Adobe Reader is up to date on my iPad, so I do have the latest version.

Actually, nevermind. It must be something wrong with the file. I tried opening another file and auto resize worked perfectly on it. Weird though that it works on one file and not another.

Sap Scripts-printing the text in a single line

In Sap Scripts I would like to have my text in a single line. For that I have used the extended line (=) tag. But It is not working.
Can anyone help me how can I achieve this.
Actually how many characters I can put in a single line. I think it is 72. But my text is less than 72 characters.
Can anyone Please help me.

A Text Symbol in Script or Smartform can take lenght of Maximum 80 characters. Any thing more than that will be truncated even if the window is long enoguh to hold more than 80 characters. Si your character formated need to be have the PROTECTED option checked.
At Topic:
Try increasing the window size in lenght or width, If that is not possible pratically, you can try by decreasing the font size.

How to confine a string of text to a single line?

My document contains some mathematical expressions which are far easier to read when on a single line versus split to two lines. Eg,
2+2=4 is good
2+
2=4 is bad
One solution is manually entered line breaks but that interrupts text flow (ie, entering text later will ruin the spacing).
Any ideas?

ArcGIS Text: what determines single line vs. single letter?

Hello! Please see the attached and notice that some text is presented as individual letters, and other text is presented as a single line (I have selected the text so you can see the vertices). Clipping mask is released, everything is ungrouped. These labels have no difference I can find inside of ArcMap10, but something is clearly differentiating them in Illy. Any ideas? And any idea how I can export to achieve grouping neither by letter nor phrase, but by individual whole word? Thank you!

ArcGIS is similar to a drafting program like AutoCAD in some ways, but its most distinguishing characteristic is its spatial awareness--its lines and points know where they are geographically, according to projections and grids and all that good geo stuff. Converting a text string to a date in Discoverer

I've got a problem with a discoverer report which is that an item is pointing to a field in the Oracle table which is named as a segment4. This appears to be a generic field which stores any type of data, as it is based on the result of a flex-field in the application, so you could have dates, text, numbers etc. The problem is that the dates are stored in the table back to front i.e. 2004/10/19 00:00:00 and I need to be able to convert the date values so they are in the format DD-MON-YYYY as is this is the format that we use for all our reporting. When I try to apply any kind of date function it doesn't seem to work because it's a text field. I've used SUBSTR to get the first 10 characters and then used it again to split into day, month, year and then concatinated the values into one field in the correct order. This works to a certain degree but still doesn't recognise the value as being a date because because it doesn't sort them in order i.e. 20-06-2007 would appear before 30-06-2005. I'm not sure whether Discoverer could fix the problem or whether it may something the DBA may have to apply to the table. Does anyone have any suggestions to how I can get around this problem?

Hi,
You can use TO_DATE(segment4, 'YYYY/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS') in a calculation to convert the segment to a oracle date type.
You can then format the date in anyway you need.

Convert multiple row field to single line

Firstly: Apologies I am not a developer and am learning how to use crystal by error and hardwork.. so I'm a little slow on the lingo and the uptake.
I am creating a report that has under "details" a field {jobTests.testTypeName} this currently finds all tests associated with the job and lists them one under another. i.e
(Job blah blah) Test1
                      Test3
                      Test7
                      Test9
Job info (blah blah) is displayed by a different field under the details tab, it is not associated.
Then it repeats with the next job until all jobs under a PO are completed, then it moves to the next PO and continues
To save space I need to list the Tests beside one another i.e Test1, Test 3, Test7, Test9.
I haven't been able to work out how to do this at all.
OR
If it is possible can anyone tell me how to take the list of Tests that are output and enter them under an IF THEN statement...
I can choose one TEST and rename (as shown below) but I need to be able to choose a group of specific tests i.e   If Test1 + Test3 + Test7 + Test9 Then display "Group 1"
If {jobTests.testTypeName} = "TEST1" Then
   "T1"
Else
   {jobTests.testTypeName}

If you haven't done so already, create a group on the Job.
In the Group Header for Job, create a formula like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
StringVar Tests := "";
In the Detail section, create a formula like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
StringVar Tests;
Tests := Tests & {jobTests.testTypeName} & " ";
Create a third formula in the Group Footer for the Job like:
WhilePrintingRecords;
StringVar Tests;
Here's what's happening. The first formula is in the Group Header to define and initialize the variable called Tests. The variable will be reset for each new Job otherwise you'd eventually get all the tests for all the jobs.
The second formula will create your string.
The last formula will display the string for each test.

I am using LV 6.0. It appears that the String Control property "Limit to
Single Line" does not prevent multiple line in the string. What's up?

The Limit to Single Line limits what the user can do with the
panel. It prevents the entry of a carriage return except through
a paste operation. Looki
ng at it on my computer, it prevents
the carriage return as it should, and when too many characters
are typed in, it does wrap the text to additional lines, but it
doesn't insert a carriage return. In fact, the string control
never does this without explicit user interaction.

MessageTransformBean - SimplePlain2XML - Multiple records on a single line

Hi,
I am trying to convert multiple record from a single line to multipe rows in an XML message with the MessageTransformBean.
If the record look like this it's working:
RECORD1textETC
RECORD2textETC
But the incoming message are all on a single line:
RECORD1textETCRECORD2textETC
Is there a way to add a linefeed to my incoming message after X characters, or to tell the adapter to split by length instead of spliting on the end of line?

i did not understood your problem. javascript supports \n character processing. so you should not get any error. Do one thing write a javascript function, that replaces all \n with "". this will solve your problem

Hi, I dont want to re invent the wheel if there is something out there that does this already. I want to take some string with multiple
line feeds and convert it to a single line. For example:
"I want this string
to be changed to
a single line"
to this...

We format it when loading in a way that it will look like this when queriing from the DB

This is so that you can see exactly what characters are in there, rather than wondering about the specific whitespace.

Converted single line text to multiple and want to have rich text editing in layout

We had a text field in a site that was initially set as single line of text. We needed it to be bigger and also allow formatting. So I added the field into the page layout.
Changing
<SharePointWebControls:TextField id="habitat" FieldName="Habitat" runat="server"/>
to
<SharePointWebControls:NoteField id="habitat" FieldName="Habitat" runat="server"/>
But it doesn't show any rich text editing options and displays the full html tags in the field.
If I open the page in the edit properties screen instead, then the field displays as I want it with the rich text editing options available in the ribbon, and text showing as bolded instead of like this:
<div>This is <strong>the </strong>habitat field.</div>
This is a site using the 2010 Publishing template running in compatibility mode on a 2013 server.
How can I get my page layout to behave the same way as the edit properties screen does?

I have a textarea field named Decription which contains more than one line seperated by new line.I need to display those five lines in a single text without breaking. Is it possible? I am getting ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException while i reached to the end of the line. Plz help me how to align the below code so that i can display the lines as a single line in my excel sheet.
