Converting Oracle Reports - PaperLayout to WebLayout

Hi All ,
We are migrating Oracle Reports 6i to Oracle Reports 10g R2.
Now when I open the report rdf file in oracle 10g Reports Builder and run the paper layout ( Ctrl + Shift + R) it shows the output.
But the same when run for Web Layout ( Ctrl + R) does display a blank htm page opened in new browser window and nothin else.
Could anyone let me know what the reason for this and how to make the migrated rdf work for web-layout as well in 10g. Do we need to follow any steps to achieve this ?

When I open an Oracle6i Reports Developer report in the Oracle Reports Builder 10g and run my Web layout, I get an empty Web page in my browser.

You'll have to use the destype DELIMITEDDATA to render your Report in CSV format. Then set the mime type to Excel. I don't know the exact syntax, so please do a search in metalink for "reports excel" for examples and more info.

I found Std Oracle Report output to Excel Sheet has some suggestions. Not being a Reports person anymore I am not in a position to vouch for them.
How did I find this thread? By not using the forum search tool but using Google instead.

How to convert Oracle reports previewer output into delimited file.

How to convert Oracle reports previewer output into delimited file if the report has more than 1000 pages.
I tried with previewer option File --> Generate to file --> Delimited file, but the report engine is crashing.Not generating .TXT file.
I observed that this option is not working for more than 400 pages.
I am using Oracle reports 6i version.
Plz suggest me to generate .TXT file from Report previewer.

You can specify a delimiter (a character or string of characters) to separate the data (boilerplate or field objects) in your report output in either of the following ways:
On the command line using the DELIMITER keyword.
In the Delimited Output dialog box or DelimitedData Output dialog box (displayed with File > Generate to File > Delimited or File > Generate to File > DelimitedData) in Reports Builder.

2) Its completely based on XML data ,based on XML data we can create RTF template from where u can get output as PDF/HTML/EXCEL....

Converting Oracle Reports to XML Publisher

Hello,
I've been trying to convert my Oracle Reports to use XML Publisher templates and make the canned reports more visually appealing. I've been following the steps described in note 295409.1 on metalink to change OR output to XML and calling the XMLP Engine to apply the template.
However I'm encountering errors when XMLP is calling the template. In order to jump start my template development, I've used the utility in Release 12 to change the RDF file into the PL/SQL packages and RTF template. Then I am attempting to reengineer these templates back into 11.5.10 and uploading them via XML Publisher Administrator. I am experiencing the errors described in the following forum thread:

I've located the problem within the template itself, but is this because of the conversion utility in release 12 (XML Version 5.6.3) is not compatible with our current XMLP version of 5.6.2 in 11i?
Any assistance would be helpful.

This could have something to do with the fact that your printer is not set up correctly. Can you run a plain text (OReports) file output to the same printer? If not, then the printer is not set up in FND correctly. If you can ...
Remeber that unless you have a more modern printer that can handle PDF documents natively then XMLPs PDF is going to need to be converted to PS or PCL. I would suggest you investigate the PASTA printer driver and get that set up. It provides the ability to call a program pdf2ps for instance, to convert the PDF to PS. There is a bunch of info on metalink

Converting oracle reports output to excel format

i am using Report Builder 9.0.2.0.3, and want to view the results of the report in excel format. I have gone through many discussion forums and don't wish to use the rep2excel software,as suggested in those forums. I wish to know, at the earliest in what way can this be achieved.

Hi Kesava
Can you check the $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT directory and see if you can see the file and its size? Maybe open it with vi or emacs and goto the last line and see if its complete.
You might also check the OPP log for this request to see if there is anyting in that log?

reallay i'm new in Bi Publisher technology (11g)
and i have report bulit using ( oracle Reports Desginer)
now i want to change to BI publisher
but some issues faces me
like
1- Formula Columns
2- PlaceHolder
3- Format trigger
4- Blob data type store images --> how to show the image

I have used it to migrate Oracle Reports file. For simple reports it is usable. For complex ones you have to check manually and do some changes in the result
