Converting unix form into forms 6

hi, i want to convert unix based forms into forms 6, problem is that, i can convert fmx. i want to open that converted file into desgner mode, or is there ne tool which can convert fmx into fmb
thanks

Hi Ali,
This forum is for the Oracle Migration Workbench. Your post is best sent to a Forms discussion forum.
If you have the .fmb files for the UNIX platform you should be able to open those on any other supported platform to create a .fmx file.
If you only have the .fmx file then I don't know of any way to get a .fmb from it. Sorry.
Regards,
Blair.

  • Problem in converting smart form into PDF

    HI Experts,
                      I am using a Function Module CONVERT_OTF for converting smart form into pdf file for send it to with attachment.
    But i got a error when i am using that FM.
    Runtime Errors         CONVT_NO_NUMBER
    unable to interpret *292 as a no.
    Is that because my file size too large about 13 pages of PDF?
    and when i run it for other smart forms which have 2 or 3 pages of PDF, its working perfectly.
    can anyone tell what is problem with that FM?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I had the similar issue and after analysis I have that this is the issue by not passing the IMPORTING parameter of the Function Module "BIN_FILESIZE". Please try to pass some variable to this paramter and then this will be completely rectified.
    DATA ; v_filesize     TYPE i.
    *--Convert OTF data to PDF data
      CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_OTF'
        EXPORTING
          format                = 'PDF'
          max_linewidth         = 132
        IMPORTING
          bin_filesize          = v_filesize
        TABLES
          otf                   = it_otfdata
          lines                 = it_pdfdata
        EXCEPTIONS
          err_max_linewidth     = 1
          err_format            = 2
          err_conv_not_possible = 3
          err_bad_otf           = 4
          OTHERS                = 5.
    Please verify whether this reolves the problem for you.

    Hi Michelle ,
    We are extremely sorry that you have had a bad experience with Adobe .
    As far as your issue is concerned ,Acrobat generally prompts for internet connection as it is required to activate the product before you could use it comfortably .Once the product is activated or licensed you would be able to use the software offline .
    This could be the possible reason you are experiencing this .Please check if you have done so and still facing this .And if you have not ,you need to license/activate your product by typing in your credentials ,i.e Adobe ID and password .
    You could also refer the following link to get updated about the activation of your product .

  • Converting oracle forms into java forms

    Hi all,,
    would help me plz on how to convert oracle forms into java using any tool;
    Is Jheadstart is the tool,, im having jeveloper version 10.1.2.1.0

    There are at least two companies that are marketing Forms to Java conversion tools. I'm sure that a good Google search will locate them, and they are frequent exhibitors at Oracle-oriented conferences like Collaborate and ODTUG Kaleidoscope. But there are problems associated with doing this. I urge anyone who is considering such a project to read this article by Grant Ronald: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/pdf/10gR2/formsmigration.pdf
    You should carefully ask yourself and your clients and management, "Why do you want to do this?", "What benefits are you trying to realize?", "Does this make sense, and are there other options that we should be exploring?"
    For instance, many people are trying to protect themselves because "Forms is going away". Oracle has stated again and again that Forms is NOT going away. In fact the recent Fusion Middleware 11g release included a new version of Forms with some significant enhancements. You may do very well just by upgrading to the latest version of Forms.
    If you do decide that it still makes sense to convert, I suggest that rather that converting, you may want to redevelop from scratch. Keep the database if it is well designed - a well designed, stable database will outlast any front end that you may use against it. Then take full advantage of the capabilities of your new toolset, and leave behind the limitations and inapplicable methodologies of your old one. Oh, by the way, don't use JDeveloper 10.1.2. Use 11g if you can, or 10.1.3.5 if you must.

  • Convert Oracle Forms into Java (swing & JSP's)

    Dear All,
    We are currently in the process of evaluating our upgrade of system, which is using forms 4.5. One of the options we are considering at this stage is converting all forms into Java program. I am currently doing some pilot work on this project. I am using FormsWizard, a product of InformatikAtelier Gmbh, along with Forms 6i and Jdeveloper 9i. Has any one done this before in this group? Your assistance is much appreciated.

    Grant, Thanks for that mail. It was very useful article. The article has lots of brilliant points consider. I may have to discuss with our System Architect. With my experience in both forms and Java, it is hard to justify the business benefit out of this conversion. We are a strong Oracle house and have no intention of moving towards J2EE at this stage.. Thanks once again.

  • How to convert oracle forms in j2ee platform

    hi,
    i want to know how can i convert oracle forms into j2ee platforms. if is it possible then please tell me the steps that i need to follow .
    thxs

    What you are asking is a bit like "how can I convert a dishwasher into a washing machine".
    If you want to know the the steps I would say.
    1) Work out what kind of washing machine you want to convert to
    2) Learn the technical details of that washing machine
    3) Rearchitect your diswasher plans so it fits into the "model" of a dishwasher
    4) Now spend lots of time money and effort doing it.
    Now, I don't know if thats going to help you. But if you tell us the WHY it might help formulate a response

  • Convert Adobe Form to SMARTFORM

    Hi,
    is it possible to convert a form created with adobe form builder to a SMARTFORM document?
    I need to upload a PDF or DOC document into a SMARTFORM. This seems not to be possible. So I used Adobe for this upload. But now I can't convert it to a SMARTFORM document...
    Can this problem solved?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks and regards

    Hi Gabriel,
    as far as I know, SAP does not deliver any tools to support conversion between smartforms and pdfs ... I did it manually, which is a pain in the neck ...

  • How to convert 6i forms to 10g

    hello,
    please tell me how to convert 6i forms into 10g forms
    i cant find ne way to do that.

    If your forms are not all integrated with each other, in other words some are for Payrole and others are for Inventory, you could maintain an AS 1.0.2 environment for one function and an AS 10.1.2 environment for another. You can access the same database assuming you are running the latest Forms 6i version (unless you are not interested or concerned about using an Oracle Certified configuration). The latest (and last) Forms 6i release supported for non-Oracle Applications customers is 6.0.8.26 (Patch 17) and can be downloaded from Metalink.
    Of course, the above configuration would mean that the URL to each application would differ because they would likely be on different machines and/or use different port numbers. For example:
    http://system1.com:7777/servlet/f60servlet?form=payrole.fmx
    http://system2.com:7780/forms/frmservlet?form=inventory.fmx
    Bottom line is that all forms modules running in a particular AS environment must be of the same version. So, forms running in AS 10.1.2 must be compiled against Forms 10.1.2. Forms running in AS 1.0.2 must all be compiled against Forms 6.0.8

  • Convert dynamic form to dynamic input form

    Hi All,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.4.
    As a part of a requirement, I have created a dynamic form built out of a read only view object.
    On a user event (button press), I want to convert the form into an input form to allow the user to make suitable change to data and save to the database.
    At this stage I have programmatic access to the table name which is being used to create the dynamic form.
    Please suggest on how to convert the dynamic form into input form.
    Best Regards,

    <cfupdate> process data from the form scope. You are
    not putting your
    role datum into the form scope. You need to scope the
    variable in your
    cfset(s).
    <cfset form.roleColumn = form.role=>
    But I am not sure this would work well. It is probably better
    if you
    write your own SQL. <cfinsert> and <cfupdate> are
    for very basic
    database operations. Once you start putting other processing
    requirements in, such as this, they quickly become
    inadequate.
    Try replacing your <cfupdate> with a <cfquery>
    tag something like this.
    <cfquery datasource="my_DSN">
    UPDATE my_table
    SET lastName = '#form.lastName#',
    firstName = '#form.firstName#',
    #form.role# = true
    WHERE key = value
    </cfquery>
    I made my best guesses at how this SQL would look based on
    the examples
    you have provided. You'll have to finish it off based on your
    actual
    requirements.

  • Converting Forms6 form back to Forms5

    I have got a form written in Forms6 that I need to being able to
    run in Forms5. If you open the Forms6 version of the form in the
    Forms5 form builder, the form will open, but you have lost all
    of the trigger code and program units. I have tried converting
    the form to an FMT file and reconverting it back, but nothing
    seems to work. Is there an easy way to do this, or do I have to
    paste all of my trigger/program unit code into the Forms 5
    version ?.
    Thanks in advance

    Sorry, I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0.  I created the form in Live Cycle and the way I would like it to work is the first user fills out some info, signs it and sends along to a few others to sign off on.  At the last signature I want it to lock and the user be able to either use the print button which I trigger a convert function to make flat (not sure if you can do?) or they print to file so they can merge with another regular pdf document.  The steps I am using right now to test:  I open the file, fill out all, sign and save; open the signed copy and print to file; save it as a .pdf.  It thens says it is corrupt when I try to open.  Not sure if the problem is in my form settings or print settings?
