Converting zero into degree sign in a text field

Suppose there is a text field 'about 1420c' . I want to convert this field into 'about 142°c'. Eagerly waiting for a reply.

ABAP Supports the degree sign. So go ahead and just copy-paste the symbol and put it wherever you want. I am assuming that you would want to use this symbol somewhere in a list display, or in general somewhere on the SAP System.

Maby someone has encountered such problem and know the reason why it happens or conditions for it to happen and the means to fix it?

I'll assume you're generating the XDP on a server and then passing that to the browser as a content type "application/vnd.adobe.xdp+xml"
Have you also tried setting the character set to UTF-8 ? I use ASP and have "response.CharSet = "utf-8" " in my header.

£ signs change to ? in text fields

When I update data held in text type fields in an SQL 2005 table from textareas in dreamweaver '£' signs get converted to '?'.
This is part of a system allowing users to enter paragraphs of text to build up into letters fro printing direct from the browser.
e.g. "A surcharge of £350 is to be applied." will be changed to "A surcharge of ?350 is to be applied."
Both the PC I am using and the SQL server have their regional settings set to United Kingdom.
I added culture="en-GB" to the page line as follows:
<%@ Page Language="VB" ContentType="text/html" ResponseEncoding="iso-8859-1" culture="en-GB" %>
This has had the effect of changing the default currency format to use £s but this does not solve the problem with £ signs inside a text field.

I don't know much about ASP, but the £ signs being displayed as ? is an encoding issue. Your encoding is iso-8859-1, which doesn't support the £ sign. You probably need to switch to utf-8 and make sure that the insert forms and database also use the same encoding.

How can I embed a text field inside a text object in a fillable form?

I am a new user of LiveCycle and am slowly figuring things out. I don't really understand any of the scripts-- thatlevel is way beyod me. I am hoping that someone can tell me an easy way to insert a fillable text field into a text object. I have been assigned a huge project of converting some very old Word forms into fillable PDF forms. I have done okay with many of them, but ran into a snag with some of the form letters that our employees need to fill out. Basically, there is a block of text (the body of the letter) in which employees will need to be able to type in a date that the recipient of the letter must respond by. I have read up on floating fields and thought that was the solution to my problem, but it seems that floating fields are really just meant to be filled from a data source rather than having info typed into them.
Can anyone help-- I am desperate at this point. There has to be an easy way to insert a fillable text field object or a Date/Time object into a block of text so that the surrounding text will expand and contract around the length of the date entered (this is important, as many of these letters pertain to legal matters and cannot have blank spaces in them).

You can split your text object into different parts and place text fields inbetween the parts. With a little manuvering, you can make it look good.
An alternative is to place text field(s) outside the letter body (and set the visibilaty to screen only). Use these to populate the floating field.
or
script the external text fields (or the subform containing them) to be "hidden" using the "Preprint" event, then revealing them ("visible") again using the "Postprint" event.

Content of a single line in a text field

I am loading a hundred string values from a text field (each
with a <br> after them) into a multiple line Dynamic text
field set to display html. When a user clicks on any one of the
lines, I want the content of that line only to be set into a
variable for further processing.

Firefox always shows text fields in light blue. Can't fix it. Help plz. Hate using IE.

Some web text fields I can type in and I don't see the text just a light blue bar in the field. Other text fields I can see the text I type into them but all the text fields are always light blue. I tried un-installing and re-installing many times. On a fresh install the problem goes away for a day or two then it comes back and there is no way to get rid of it that I know of unless I reinstall. And that only fixes it for 24 to 48 hours or so. Calculations in input text fields

Hello,
I'm making an engineering game. Students need to input force
equations and to check the equation is right it has to add up to
zero. There are two input text fields, one the student sees with
the force values expressed in letters like HA, VA, and MA, and one
hidden field where the values are expressed as numbers. They also
input operators as part of the equation. I need to make it so when
they click a button to check if their equation is correct, the
contents of the text field are calculated to see if the equation
adds up to zero. I know you can express the contents as a number
with say Number (this.my_hidden_text.text), but how do I get the
operators in the equation, which are +, -, *, /, (, ), and ^ to
mean something and do what they're supposed to?
Any assistance would be most welcome.

Strange behavior with hidden text field for drill down

Hi All,
I am pretty sure I know the cause, just not sure how to work around...
I am trying to create a drill down report just like in the App Dev guide, and I have done everything the same as the example (2 times, once to follow the guide, and now on my app). The only difference is that I am using a text field rather than a numeric field as the link. This shouldn't be a problem (I wouldn't think) except that the text I NEED to use has '<==' in the middle. So when I check my session state var's, this is what I see:

When what I should see is:
CHPAG0SC_MAILCDN_000000047_ <==20060525101642
So I think that I am gettting duplication because of the characters, but again I don't know how to solve it.

I am trying to create a drill down report similar to the one in the app developers guide. I have a query on pg 1 that includes the required text field as the link. When I click the link, I get an error on pg 2 - which is trying to use the value from pg 1. I did check and saw that even though I set this value in session state (I thought that was what happened when I assigned the 'name' and 'value' in the column link), it is passed in the url, which is where I figured it was breaking. As stated, I need to use this text value as it is the only unique key for the data (currently - this is a data validation step (not an ApEx validation), where users are handling issues with data uploaded from a csv).
My current process is as follows:
1. User uploads 2 csv's
2. Proc moves (from wwv_flow_files) and parses csv back into records and inserts into temp (all varchar2) table(s).
3. User is displayed 3 'reports' - for each type of validation required - from the stage/temp table
4. User would click on the 'Edit' link (like the drill down sample) to see more details about the record.
5. Once the user is done with these reports, they would click another button to 'process' the data (move it into base tables)
Because the text field is always unique, I figured I wouldn't create a sequence for this like I have for the 'base' (destination) tables.
I didn't know that I was using a 'get' rather than a 'post', but of course it is a link, not a button - so I should ahve known better.
Is there a way to do this without adding a sequence generated id for each, or is that just the quickest way?

Custom Metadata Text Field not working

Hi everyone-
I'm trying to create a Metadata layout the will be a template for all of the editors in my company. I've created a New Schema and added a few custom text fields. The problem is I can't add anything to the text fields, as they are greyed out and unusable (see far right in image). Any ideas of why this might be happening?

I wanted to follow up on this with you. I ended up creating a "template" project for our filmers to use so we all log our footage the same way. I ended up using an existing schema and adding new, custom text fields. I did a few tests on my system and everything seemed to be working fine. Our filmers are now on a shoot and are beginning to log their footage with our "template". When they enter data in the custom text fields, they end up getting a crash about every 4-6 clips. When they reload their project, none of the logged files have saved in the bin. Any thoughts on why this is happening? Our filmers are using the new MBP.
One other note.. when they enter text into the "description" and other text fields that are not Custom Fields, everything seems to be OK.
Your help / insight would be greatly appreciated!

I am on an SRM sytem, which unfortunately does not have th FM: PSSV_TEXT_INTO_FIELD_CURRENCY.
But I also need to transfer a string value like '12,99' to a field with type curr.
Can i Do that manually, or is there another FM?
I have already checked code with write to or pack/unpack.
But without success yet.
Something like this:
DATA: g_str(11) type c.
DATA: g_p type p.
WRITE '12,99' TO g_str CURRENCY 'EUR'.
is no use for me. Finally I need to move g_str to my curr-field, which causes st22.
also: PACK g_str to <curr-field or g_p> dumps.
Help appreciated.

Is anyone having issues with Android version 4.3 for Galaxy III throwing in zeroes into text messages?

I received a message on Christmas Eve that a free update was available for my Samsung Galaxy III. I accepted the download and discovered some enhancements and fixes that I liked (finally, my voicemail icon displays the number of waiting voicemails that I have!) but I've noticed to glaring issues:
1. When I send text messages that include numbers (a phone number for example) the OS throws in random zeroes into the number. I have to usually touch the ENTER key and type the number on a new line and play around with it until the number stays in the message correctly.
2. I've had occasional lockups using the media hub which, when I do a restart, causes my settings to revert to the default factory settings....kind of a pain.
There may be other issues.
Q. Has anyone out there experienced this same thing?
Q. Is Google going to fix these issues? I noticed that on Christmas day a half dozen or so updates were made, but these to things still are a problem.
Q. Also, the Verizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant on my laptop insists that my version is not supported. I can still access photos and music, but it's a little annoying...

I went to the site and did exactly as the 'support' said. I tried three PDF documents for conversion to Word. On clicking 'convert', the last window gives the file with .doc suffix. After I save and open it the window says, "The XML file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents." Under "Details", it says, "Incorrect document syntax".

Leading zeros in dynamic text fields

I have a dynamic text field that indicates the degree of
rotation of a knob. I need the display to have three digits showing
at all times. This means I need leading zeros from 0 to 99. ie,
000, 001, 002, etc.
Is there a way to do this numerically or do I have to change
the numbers to strings and concatenate??

Yes, for the most part only strings can start with leading
zeros.
You might run into some troubles because Flash treats a
leading zero as a sign that a number is octal, base-8.
So if you were planning on using Number() to cast your values
into numbers, don't! Instead use parseInt(someString,10).
