Copy and pasting image onto a layer's channel

Hi,
I would like to know how to copy and paste an image onto a particular layer's blue channel.  (prefer non-action listener scripts)

I think the applyImage command is the best way to copy an image into a channel. But that needs scriptlistner. So here is how to do it with the clipboard without scriptlistner.
var currentChannels = app.activeDocument.activeChannels;// store the activeChannels to restore later
app.activeDocument.activeLayer.copy();// copy the image
app.activeDocument.activeChannels = [ app.activeDocument.channels.getByName( localize( '$$$/ColorModes/RGB/ChannelName/Blue=Blue' ) ) ];// make the blue channel active
app.activeDocument.paste();// paste the image into the channel
app.activeDocument.activeChannels = currentChannels;// restore the channels
