Copy Costelement between controlling areas

Dear all,
do you know a possibility to copy cost elements from one controlling area to another controlling area?
I have 2 controlling areas and I would like to use a mass copy for arount 500 cost elements from controlling area A to controlling area B.

Not simply support by SAP standard. Instead, two options for you to choose,
One is through costomizing function "automatic creation of primary and secondary cost elements". Define the range of cost element to be created (IMG-> Controlling-> Cost Element Accounting-> Master Data-> Cost Elements-> Auto Creation of Pri/Sec Cost Elements") and then create batch OKB3 and execute the batch SM35 to create the cost elements.
The other is to develop an ABAP program to read the number from a file and call tcode (KA01 or KA06) to create cost elements. And the program is not difficult to develop.

App says "Evaluation Copy" but ActiveX controls are not evaluation copies.

App has been running for 3+ years in a Win95 machine. Just moved to Win98 machine and now "Evaluation Copy" appears in app. I have copied the two OCX files from the Win95 machine and registered them on the new machine. I purchased ComponentWorks 3 years ago - I never had evaluation copies of these OCX files. Could this be a Win95 to Win98 problem?

I doubt that this is a Windows problem; there are several reasons why an ActiveX control could turn to evaluation mode (see KB link below). I would suggest that you uninstall the OCX controls from your new computer and instead run the ComponentWorks installer for proper installation/registration.
If you have version 3.x or later of the CW controls, you could also run the Measurement Studio License Fixer Utility found in the following Knowledgebase article:

This utility will help you diagnose the license state of your controls and will try to fix any broken licenses. Please read the KB carefully as it may not apply to your particular setup.

Copy data between planning area with function module

Hi gurus!
I'm involved in a consumer products project
In my multiplaning area i copy "catalog code" from act to fct after a preliminary selection in a authorization layout..
Due to increase performance I'm in need to convert the FOX which copies data from actual plan area to fct plan area after the authorization check, into a formula exit...
This fox works fine but as you can imagine it takes a lot of time to execute cause it has to read every catalog code form the transactional data...
here follows gross summary of the code.
this FOX copies ACT catalog code into FCT catolg
code by CALQUARTER according to Catalog code
authorization stored in AUTH version
DATA PER TYPE 0CALQUARTER.
DATA ENDPER TYPE 0CALQUARTER.
DATA KEYF TYPE KEYFIG_NAME
PER = VARV(variable)
ENDPER = TMVL(per,4).
catalog code is present in the level selection
with no filter
AUTH is the version used for set up the
authorization in data copy (no quarte info is needed)
IF {KEYF,AUTH,#,PLAN1}>0.
PLAN1 I the FCT plan area, PLAN2 is the Act plan area
DO.
{KEYF,FCT,PER,PLAN1}={KEYF,ACT,PER,PLAN2}.
IF PER = ENDPER.EXIT.ENDIF.

I've found many example in the forum but nothing which refers to different planning areas data copy with exit.
I'll be gratefull to any of you who can help me to compile this function module.

Hi Rakesh,
You can use COPY/Version Management Function to do this.
Path: Demand Planning > Environment >Copy/ Version Management
The system takes into account only those periodicities that are common to both planning areas.
For example, if the data is saved in months in the source planning area (PA1) but in months and weeks in the target planning area (PA2)
the system copies to months in the target planning area and then Disaggregates the data to the storage buckets in accordance with the Time-based Disaggregation.

De activation of Controlling Area

Hi,
We have got a situation that we need to de activate the existing controlling area and create a new controlling area as per the mutual agreement between our co & the client.
and we have got 1:1 ratio between controlling area & company code
Now the system will not allow me to delete the company code assignment from the controlling area as the master data exists for this particular company code.
how do i proceed with this kind of situation.
My concerns are
1. How do I assign the company code to a new controlling area which has already been assigned to a particular controlling area.
2. Now if i go with the new controlling area which i have created then how does the system respond to the old open item data which has been entered for old cost centres,profit centres.
What will happen when i start clearing this transactions how does the system responsd to this kind of situations.

Thanks for your prompt response but I have 2 queries.
1. Will the system allow me delete the master datas when there is transaction data which exists in the masters for which we want to delete.
2. Secondly what will happen when i try to clear the open item which have been booked under a particular cost centre and profit centre which were assigned to my old controlling area and when i start clearing the old items with the new controlling area activate how does system respond to it.
Will it allow me to clear these transactions/allow processing of the old data which had been fed in the old controlling area.
Plz help me out in this.

hy sap gurus,
whenever creating controlling area, the system asks wheter controlling area = company code, (or) cross compamny code transation,
my question is the controlling area at company code level then u select 1st option, for u r doing cross company code trans action u select 2nd option. here we have to maintain controlling area company level (not company code level and not cross company code trans) what to do.
pl explain.

Hi,
Controlling Area to Company Code relationship can be 1:n i.e. you can assign multiple company codes to a single controlling area.
COCd --> Controlling Area settings dictates following:
1) If you select Controlling Area = Company Code, you can have only 1:1 relationship between controllign area and company code i.e. you cannot assign multiple company code with this controllign area.
2) If it is cross company code, then you can have 1:n relationship between controlling area and company code. I would recommend this setting as it allows flexibility to assing another company code to the same controlling area in future, if required.

Maintain controlling area

When i am trying to maintain the controlling area I am getting the following error. I am trying to use the copy function when trying to create the controlling area and it is giving the following message
"You can only copy or replace object area in structure mode"

You can only copy or replace the organizational object Controlling area in structure mode, because multiple object dependencies need to be considered.
System Response
The action cannot be carried out in single mode.
Procedure
Copy or replace the org. object in structure mode. Choose "Structure" and select a suitable enterprise structure from "Templates" or enter your own choice in "Navigation".
I tried to create controlling area many times with same procedure but system always shows same error which i had mentioned above.
Chart of accounts & fiscal year variant are same of both controlling area 0001 & company code 0001. Also company code 0001 is assigned to controlling area 0001.
Still i am getting this error every time when i create controlling area.
Steps which i am following while creating controlling area are - Enterprise Structure - Definition - Controlling - Maintain Controlling Area. In last step i am creating controlling area in activity "Copy, Delete, Check Controlling Area".
Please advice solution for the same.

Internal Order: Change Co Code and Controlling Area

Hi,
We have setup internal order -> <i><b>customised</b></i> order type, to store data regarding our projects. The setup involves choosing a Controlling Area which will inherit the Company Code (1:1 mapping between controlling area & co code) once we Create the Order (transaction KO01).
The field Company Code is greyed out and not maintainable.
There is no posting involved. Just for storing data related to the projects (cost centre is defined though).
A problem occurs when our client asked to change the company code field from A to B. I used transaction KO02 and tried to change it from "Environment" -> "Set CO area" but the change is not reflected later once I go into the Master Data screen.
Since the Company Code field is already greyed out in the Master Data screen, I also can't make changes there.
I tried changing the Screen layout (i.e. Order layout) of the field selection in IMG, but also not working.
Does anyone has any other ideas? Many thanks in advance.

Since, you have one to one relationship between company code and controlling area, you will not be able to change the company code in order master.
If there are multiple company codes attached to same controlling area, then you need not enter company code in the order master. For this you will need to make company code as optional field in the field status for order type.This will facilitate posting from multiple company codes (attached to same controlling area) to the same order.
If company code is entered and some postings takes place then system will not allow you to change the data.

No. If you used any upload tools like LSMW, perhaps you may use that for uploading the second controlling area.

Inter company postings between 2 different controlling areas

Dear Team,
Is it possible the inter-company postings between two different controlling areas company codes with same chart of accounts?
profit center accounting and New GL is activated for the company codes.
Please provide me the inputs if anybody gone through the above scenario.

The profit center does not exist in master data table CEPC for the date specified.
Procedure
Check your entry. If necessary, you must create the profit center for the date required.
Is it possible the IC postings between two different company codes assigned to two different controlling areas?

Copy Cost Elemets from one controlling area to new controlling area

I want to copy cost elements from controlling area 1000 to 0860 with same chart of accounts.
KA01 allow me to crete cost element one by one through reference but this will not solve the problem.
Is there any transaction where I can copy all the cost elements which is in controlling area 1000.

no need to copy cost element from 1000 controlling area
u must have ur chart of accounts and GL accounts
u can do that automaticaaly insted of going to KA01
u can do that in Tcode - OKB2
enter the chart of accounts
Range the GL accounts ( lets primary cost element with catagory 1)
range aal Gl accounts ( lets for all revenue account with catagory 11)
save
create batch input session in OKB2
execute batchinput in OKB3
hoep this would solve ur problem

Hi,
I think the best way to avoid the further config is Copy by Template like CoAr and CoCd. It will save lot of time in maintaining the number ranges (KANK). Also all std doc types are automatically set.
Ofcourse one should localize the sample org to their country so that Currency and Fiscal Year Var are set auto.
Sometimes while copying SAP gives error regd some table entries.(Error TK455). Pl search SAP note by the same message no. and delete the field values like 12 for REICHWEITE.

Controlling area currency copied to cost condition: DP90/91

In my example, the transaction currrency is 0 USD but the CO area currency is -15.09 AUD. I can see that after running DP90, the controlling area currency has been picked up.
When I checked ODP1 for transaction currency characteristic, the 'No summarization' has been checked. So it should have picked the transaction currency. But it is picking the CO currency. Is this so because cost in Trans currency is 0 and zero cost cannot be transferred to a cost condition?
