Copy data from Berkeley DB to Oracle tables

Hello
I need to get data from Berkeley DB to Oracle tables.
Any help/tools to this?
Thanks for your help in advance.
So far
1. I asked developers to dump BDB in flat file.
2. Created external tables & loaded into permanent table using CTAS.
Cheers

Hi Shekhar,
External tables managed by the Oracle DB Server are a way to go.
However, I would suggest using any of the Berkeley DB Core APIs (C, C++, Java) along with its appropriate correspondent on the Oracle DB side, that is, OCI (Oracle Call Interface, C API), OCCI (Oracle C++ Call Interface) and, respectively, JDBC or SQLJ. You may also use the Oracle DB Precompilers, Pro*C/C++ along with the correspondent Berkeley DB API, C/C++.
If you have Metalink access, you may consult the KM Note 756126.1, where I've discussed how to import Oracle DB data into Berkeley DB databases (the opposite of what you're trying to do), using OCI on the Oracle DB side and the C API on the Berkeley DB side; there is a code example in the note to explain how to perform this task.
Doing the data copying the other way around is not difficult; you'll need to iterate through the Berkeley DB database with a cursor and use appropriate OCI DML statements (INSERT INTO) to write the data to the Oracle DB table. Note that you may also use OCI to execute the DDL statements (CREATE TABLE) to create the Oracle DB table into which data will be copied, or do that separately using SQL*Plus, PL/SQL dynamic native SQL etc before copying the data.
Bellow are the links for the Berkeley DB documentation page where you'll find each of the BDB APIs and the Oracle DB Application Development documentation section where you'll find the development guides for Oracle Call Interface, JDBC and SQLJ:

    From Microsoft access , import data from Excel to an Access table.
    Format that Access Table properly in Design mode.
    Create a table as per your specification in oracle Database.
    Then export to oracle from access using approppriate ODBC driver.

  • How to extract incremental data from SQL server to oracle tables in ODI

    HI All,
    In my ODI sql server is install.My Source is in SQL server and my target is in Oracle.
    I need to create a interface mapping where i need to extract incremental data from sql server to oracle.
    There is a datetime(with Timestamp) field in sql server .I need to pull incremental data based on dateime.
    Example = tablename.DateTime > (select '1-jan-11' from dual) .....i am using this query but its not woking.the error is Invalid object name"dual".
    We are not going to use Incremental in IKM and LKM.
    Request you to please provide any suggestion ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Lony

    You can do that via Variable.
    In the interface mapping create a filter on Tablename.DateTime
    and put the condition like this
    Tablename.DateTime BETWEEN #VAR and in the variable use this query in refreshing tab with oracle schema
    SELECT max(start_time)||' AND '||max(END_TIME)+1 from audit_table where ETL_JOB_CODE = '20'In the package call the above variable in refresh mode and then interface.
    This way you will pass from the query between and condition date and pass to interface so that SQL Server fetches the data between those too range.
    Note:- You might need to tweak the date format so that SQL Server can understand.
    Hope this helps.

  • Using Oracle Forms Importing Data From SQL Server into Oracle Tables.

    Dear All,
    We are using Oracle Forms 10g in windows XP and having OAS 10g and Oracle database 9i.
    How can we import data from SQL Server 2005 into Oracle tables using Oracle Forms?
    Thanks & Regards

    I have no idea what "Oracle Hetrogenius Services" is, so I can't help you with that, sorry.
    SQL Developer might also assist you. SQL Developer can connect to SQL Server as well as Oracle and has some tools for migration. See the documentation for details:

  • Sending data from flat file or oracle table view to a IBM MQ

    Hi,
    We need a help in developing solution.
    We have a scenario, where data(multiple records) in source (table/file) needs to populated into a queue(JMS IBM MQ) as a single message. To achieve this we are trying a two step process.
    1)     We created a temp table to store multiple records from file, this temp table is having one column of *‘clob’* data-type which will store data from file into a single row. We are facing issue while loading data from file to staging area using LKM FILE TO ORACLE (SQLLDR)
    When we are executing interface, while creating C$ table it is going error out . Instead of taking clob (target write data type) it is taking varchar with +5000+ size whereas varchar supports only *4000*.
    create table SNPM.C$_0SINGLERECORD
    C1_C1 VARCHAR2(5000) NULL
    NOLOGGING
    Error message:
    910 : 42000 : java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00910: specified length too long for its datatype
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00910: specified length too long for its datatype
    Need help in sending data into destination table.
    2) After populating this data into destination(temp table) as a single record we need to send each row as a single message to JMS MQ. currently we are using LKM FILE to SQL to load into Staging area and IKM SQL TO JMS APPEND to put message in JMS MQ. We are succeeding in putting message of length < 4000 as these KMs are converting the data using varchar2, but we have data of large size+(>4K)+.
    Pointer/ solution will be of great help.
    Please let me know in case you need more description.

    The error message that is showing while using clob as datatype(which we created as user data type in data types section of respective technology)
    java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "4294967295"
         at java.lang.NumberFormatException.forInputString(Unknown Source)

  • Extract data from xml file to Oracle table

    hello to all members of forum..i have this stored procedures:

    PROCEDURE INSERTXML2(

    v_rows NUMBER;

    v_rows := DBMS_XMLStore.insertXML(insCtx, xmldocument);
    -- Close the context
    DBMS_XMLStore.closeContext(insCtx);
    END;
    that works well in little XML files but in XML files that are bigger the stored procedures to not work because string maximum length in Oracle is 4000..can anyone know a solution to pass over this problem?!?!
    one more thing im working with Oracle SQL Developer and Sap Mii, the XML file is generated in Sap Mii and then i have to pass it in one step to database..my one step is this stored procedure

    You can use CLOB for big files.

    remember, i could copy any amount of data from oracle to EDB but not otherway around.
    PLease let me know if you have come across this issue, any recommendation is very much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I finally remembered how I solved this issue previously.
    The jdbc driver isn't able to directly call the insert with a column xml_type. The solution I was using was to build a wrapper function in plSQL.
    Here it is (for insert but I suppose tha update will be the same)
    create or replace procedure insertXML(file_no_in in number, program_no_in in varchar2, ost_XML_in in clob, btl_XML_in in clob) is
    begin
    insert into AQAOST_FILES (file_no,program_no,ost_xml,btl_xml) values(file_no_in, program_no_in, xmltype(ost_XML_in), xmltype(btl_XML_in));
    end insertXML;
    here is the sqlmap file I used
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <!DOCTYPE sqlMap
    PUBLIC "-//ibatis.apache.org//DTD SQL Map 2.0//EN"
    "http://ibatis.apache.org/dtd/sql-map-2.dtd">
    <sqlMap>
         <typeAlias alias="AqAost" type="com.sg2net.jdbc.AqAost" />
         <insert id="insert" parameterClass="AqAost">
              begin
                   insertxml(#fileNo#,#programNo#,#ostXML:CLOB#,#bltXML:CLOB#);
              end;
         </insert>
    </sqlMap>
    an here is a simple program
    package com.sg2net.jdbc;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.Reader;
    import java.io.StringWriter;
    import java.sql.Connection;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;

  • Copy data from one Table to another Table

    How can I copy data from one Oracle Table to another Oracle Table on a different server? Question 2: How can I clear all of the data in one Table with a single SQL script?
    Thanks...

    Question 1:
    I assume you have the privileges. If you don't, ask the DBA to give them to you. Then
    1. Login to database_source (It could be either the source or the target. Let's assume it's the source.)
    2. Create a database link to database_target: CREATE DATABASE LINK link_to_database_target CONNECT TO myuserid IDENTIFIED BY mypassword USING 'database_target'; Note the single quotes.
    3. Copy the table data: INSERT INTO targetowner.mytable@link_to_database_target SELECT * FROM sourceowner.mytable; COMMIT;
    Question 2:
    You have two options, but you may not have privileges for both.
    Option 1:
    DELETE FROM tableowner.tablename; COMMIT;
    Advantage: Since this is a DML (Data Manipulation Language) statement, you have to commit the transaction. Also, the data will be gone but the table size is NOT changed, so it's ready for accepting replacement data. DML statements can simply be executed not only from SQL scripts, but from PL/SQL scripts as well.
    Disadvantage: Slow, because all record deletion is logged, so you can recover from it by issuing a ROLLBACK; instead of the COMMIT; above. The table size is NOT changed, so if you are short of disk space or tablespace space, you have not resolved the issue.
    Option 2:
    TRUNCATE TABLE tableowner.tablename;
    Advantage: Since this is a DDL (Data Definition Language) command, you do NOT have to commit the transaction. (DDL commands automatically commit both before and after their execution.) The table size will be changed back to the initial extent size which is the minimum size a table can have and can only be set when the table is created. If it needs to be changed, the table has to be dropped and recreated with a different initial extent size. The statement execution of this command is not logged, therefore it's much faster then the DELETE.
    Disadvantage: No rollback. Being a DDL, this command cannot be executed straight from PL/SQL. If you need to issue this within PL/SQL, you will have to use dynamic SQL.
