Copy fiscal year vairiant changes from R3 to SCM

Hello Gurus;
We have a requirement to change our fiscal year start and end dates for the current and future year. We are using program "RSIMPCUST" to copy changes in fiscal calendar from R3 to SCM.
My question is : Do we need to de-activate the demand planning area and then copy the Fiscal calendar changes and re-initilise and copy the data from back up cube  Or we just have to copy the FY changes from R3 to SCM and re-initialize the DP planning area.
Thanks in advance for guidance in advance.
Thanks and regards
Rajesh

Why de-activate planning area ? - Because, we are making structural changes against which data already resides in planning area.
Now, before making changes, you need to plan the back up of data, make changes in FYV, and then load data into planning area with new FYV.
Before, you go about, please study below points and plan accordingly -
1) Changes in both fiscal year variant (Months & weeks)
2) Storage bucket profile
Importantly, note that when loading data from back up cube, make sure it is loaded at month and week level (i.e. u2013 exclude Fiscal variant bucket), as the fiscal variant bucket mapping to month and week will have changed awhen you try to load the data in planning area (post FYV changes). Hence, post data loading in planning area, it should appear against new FY buckets when viewed by user.
(Example u2013 Previously M1-W1-F1 = 10, M1-W2-F1 = 20, Hence, F1 = 30. After changes you make, say, M1-W1 as F1 and M1-W2 as F2, user should see F1=10 and F2-20).

  • Fiscal Year Variance Change affected AA Balance and Recalculation of Values

    Hi Experts,
I have a scenario where we change the Fiscal Year Variance on certain Company Codes. The Fiscal Year Changes were on Period 12 from Nov 26th to Dec 31st (last Fiscal Year Var was until Dec 25th), and Period 1 of next Year will already start at 1st of Jan (Last Fiscal Year Variance was from Dec 26th) until 26th of Jan.
We encountered a discrepancy on some reports especially on the FI-AA Balance Report, where as some posted entries for the Assets were not included.
Then I investigated. I found out that the Recalcualtion of Values is always based on the entries of table ANEP where the fiscal period 2011 did not include some postings done on th 30th of Dec because of fiscal year variance change.
In the Asset Values of the asset, it shows no discrepancy there although the info-dialogue box is appearing to recalculate the values of the asset. They already posted in Period 11 of this year after the changed fiscal year variance without recalculating and currently the planned values are different. The users are okay with the posted depreciation run since the asset balance per year is still correct. But if we recalculate the posted entries for asset acquisition on Dec 30th, the acq amount/asset balance will already be incorrect.
My Current solution is to enhance the function module FIRST_DAY_IN_PERIOD_GET to show that if the values of Fiscal Year = 2011 and Period = 1, then it will get the date 26th of December 2010. I know that this Function Module is widely used for all modules but since we already changed Fiscal Variances maybe this will also correct some reports or functions that includes Fiscal Starting Dates.
Or are there any solution for this scenario? Is this solution advisable?

Have you done the impact analysis of changing the fiscal year variant directly? I would suggest you may need to raise an OSS note with SAP. The change must have affected different areas.

  • Fiscal Year End change

Our current Fiscal Year variant is April – March. However we have now been bought by a different company and the fiscal year end needs to change to Jan-Dec. Therefore this year will be a shortened year.
I have a couple of questions:
I can see in SPRO that the fiscal year can be changed (transaction OB29) to accommodate a shortened year. Currently our year is set up under K4 which is year dependant not calendar dependant. How do I modify this? Do I move the tick from one to another (ie to calendar year), or do I need to copy the K4 and use it as a new one. If I do this what else do I need to do, I know if I changed it I would need to allocate it to the company code.
    2. When do the changes need to be in Production, is it before year end, last day after everyone has gone home, on day 1, or once the accounts have been finalised? I assume I could make the changes in Dev/QA before then and fully test?
    3. I understand that I need to do something on Asset/Depreciation. Again please advise on the timing of this.

I wonder if you can answer something further. Our financial year used to be Jan-Dec, which meant the fiscal year number (i.e. 2002) would be the same as the calendar year date. Then we had a shortened fiscal year so we could move to April-March. This meant for example that this year (April 07 to March 08), our fiscal year is 2008. We have just had a change of ownership and yes you guessed it, the financial year needs to move again, so we are having another shortened year ending in December. This means that our next financial year which be 2009, which covers January 08-December 08.
My question is, how do I let people see this when running reports etc. In   IMG you can specify text for the period, however when looking at reports or data in any part of the system, this does not seem to appear anyway.
How has anyone else got round this?

  • Fiscal Year Variant change

    Hello,
We are being asked to switch our fiscal year variant from 445 to calendar month based beginning 1/1/2010.  I am curious as to how to approach this change from the BW perspective.
I first did a quick look at the system to see how and where fiscal year variant is used.
    What i found is that:
    1. Fiscal year variant is used in our cubes as part of the transaction data
    2. Almost all the queries have the FYV as part of the query definition.  (won't be able to restrict to just 1 FYV since it will rule out many records since FYV is part of transaction data in our cubes)
    3. Many queries compare current Fiscal periods to prior fiscal periods and and ranges too.  This is enabled by using variable exits for 0FISCPER etc.
    4. There are some Restricted Key Figures that have the FYV as part of thier definition.
    5. Many DSO objects have the FYV as a key field.
What do you recommend from your own experience with regards to how to handle this change.  I am curious what the impacts will be and what I should be prepared for.  I am guessing that data in our DSO's will pile up since starting 1/1/2010 every record will have a new FYV (remember FYV is a key field), also I am curious how time based variable exits will work, since I think they depend to some extent on a single FYV.
Any advice or recommendations on how to approach this change is appreciated.  Also what decisions have to be made if any...
    Thanks!

    Hello,
Okay here is one thing that i have run across that i do not understand.  I am using Offsets in a query.  Everything works fine with regards to these offsets, except for when i introduce 2 Fiscal Year Variants.
Once there are 2 fiscal year variants, the offsets are completely ignored.
Does anyone have an explanation why variable offsets would no longer work when there are 2 fiscal year variants on the same report?
When i launch this query in the web browser from Analyzer I get the following error message:
    Diagnosis
Variable ZS_FPER2 contains a fiscal year period which is to be moved by 10 periods. Before this can occur, the fiscal year variant must first be specified clearly so that the number of periods in the fiscal year can be determined.

  • Funds Management and Fiscal Year Variant Change

    Hello !
We are configuring a new fiscal year variant.
Currently, the system is on a CALENDAR YEAR FY variant and we are doing the following:
    1. creating a shortened FY of Jan 2009 - Mar 2009
    2. new fiscal year from April 2009 - Mar 2010
We are trying to change the FY variant for Funds Management via OF15 but receive the error FI674.
    FI674:
You must not change the fiscal year variant in Cash Budget Management or Funds Management for FM area FM01 if actual data already exists for FM area FM01, or if one or more of the company codes assigned to FM area FM01 is active.
We have found oss note 719597 which details how to change the FY variant for Cash Budget Mgmt, but it does not apply to Funds management.
I could find no other supporting documentation.
Can anyone guide us as to how to deal with this issue?
    Thank=you !

    Hello Patti,
The point is that it is not possible to change fiscal year variant if actual values exists.
You are trying to do a change in January. You probably have some postings in 2009 already.
In the area of PSM-FM there is no note like 719597 of TR-CB.
Only if no actual values exist, this customizing change would be possible and reasonable.
If you are doing this setting in your customizing client, you can delete the postings (please DO NOT do it if you are in production) that exist in 2009 and try again.
SAP do not recommend to change a Fiscal Year Variant that has already been assigned to a company code and has already some postings. This may  create database inconsistencies.
You can create another Fiscal Year Variant with the information that you want to be customize, and this variant you will be able to assign to a company code. Before you assign this new variant to a company
code please be sure that none of the information that you already posted in this company code will be affected, this information you may review it with your consultant on-site.
    Also please review/apply note 173636, 202687, 10945, 193713, 123026, 210861 which may happen in your system.
The fiscal period is related to the posting date via the fiscal year variant. E.g.: I you do a posting on 5.5.2009 it will be posted e.g. in period 5 for fiscal year variant 'A'. This period is not only used in the document header table (BKPF,VBRK,MKPF ...) but also in several balance table (GLT0, KNC1 ...) not only in FI but also in SD, MM, CO .... If in the new  fiscal year variant 'B' this posting date is related to another period e.g. 7 the relation between documents and Periods and balances will be destroyed.
The problem will be enhanced if the posting-date would be related to diffrent fiscal years.
In addition several reports in AP/AR and GL reread period-depend data by selecting the posting-date regardless of the period in the document because it's not normal practise to change the fiscal year variant of a company code.
Some of the involved issues are:
    - FM actuals and commitments may need to be reconstructed if their period- (or even fiscal year-) assignments is changed.
    - FM actuals/commitments can not be reconstructed if fiscal year change activities have already been performed (commitment carry forward, FMJ1, FMJ2).
    - Budgeting data and assigned values may principally be concerned as well, especially if you are working with period values in budgeting.
The change of fiscal year variant has several implications and should be analyzed very carefully.
Please check note below for more information:
Note 672255 Shortened fiscal year / changing fiscal periods
I hope it helps you and good luck
    Best Regards,
    Vanessa.

  • Should Fiscal Year be derived from posting date for sales stat cube

    Greetings,
Is it common to derive FY from posting date of the invoice for the sales stat cube.  We have the standard SAP datasource 0UC_SALES_STATS_02 to extract billing information from ECC.  On the BI side, the FY is derived from posting date in the transformation before it reaches the target (i.e. cube).  Is this derivation common
Thank you in advance for your response.

    Hi,
You can derive the Fiscal Year from the posting period and it not uncommon to see this.

    Hi Experts,
Our client wants to change the period end dates and keep the variant as it is in this month (Fisacal year Jan to Dec). Some postings were done in Jan and Feb.
Is the right time to change the periods now ?
Is there any adverse effects with this change ?
What is the right time to change ?
If client is very particular about change, what are the SAP notes to be followed ?

  • Moving Fiscal year variants CAlander from R/3 to BW

    Hi,
I am new to BW ,My team Lead asked me to replicate the R/3 Fiscal year variants Calander (FI_CO) to BW.
How can i do that......Do i need to use Transport or Info Package
    Thanks

    hi Krishna,
you can try rsa1->source system-> right click r/3 source system and 'transfer global setting', in next screen mark checkbox for fiscal variant, also unit of measure, currency, and option 'update table' and execute.
you may need to schedule these update to run periodic,
menu program -> run in background, specify start date time and mark periodic, and click periodic values and mark e.g daily.
the other thing you may also need to upload exchange rate from r/3, right clik source system r/3 'transfer exchange rate', this also need to schedule periodic.
    hope this helps.

  • The error showing as Fiscal year change has not carried out for the coCd

    Hi all,
I am facing a very critical situation. My client has the last closed fiscal year as 2006(from 2006 april to 2007 march). For the fiscal yr. 2007(2007april to 2008 march) they have already finalised and submitted the reports made from some parallel software. They now want to tally this report with SAP system and to adjust the SAP system entries as per this report. This work was running fine. But on 01.04.2009 none of the asset reports are running. The error it's throwing is as-
Fiscal year change not yet made for company code PWAL
    Message no. AB059

You have not yet carried out a fiscal year change for company code PWAL, although the current system date is in the new fiscal year.
    Procedure
Carry out the fiscal year change for company code PWAL.
    Proceed
The error is quite understandable. We have to close 2007 and then perform the fiscal year change. But the problem is that the adjustment for the year 2007 is not yet complete. Is it the only solution with me that I should close the yr.2007 and again open it after the fiscal yr. change? If that is done can I take care of the adjustment in the posted depreciation? Or is it possible that the system date can be made back to 31.03.2009(very stupid ask!). The real problem is that my client has mistakely created some assets in the year 2007(by AS91 after changing the take over date) those should have been shown in the next year and also some assets are creted in the year 2008 by the same strange method those should be shown in the year 2007.What I am doing now is deleting these legacy assets and creating the new assets in the correct year. And this process is not yet complete. If I close the year 2007, then the depreciation of these legacy assets will also be posted.Later how can I reverse the effect? Also without seeing the reports I can't make the adjustments. Please suggest/advice.
    Debabrata

    Hi Debabrata,
You have to do all fiscal year closing steps for 2007. When you reopen it you can do a repeat run for 2007. (You can do the reapeat run only for the new/ changed assets.)
Try first to test this in an actual test system (document it and do the same in production). Perhaps as you know when 2009 is open I want to close 2008 in one week.  All changes they make in the asset system (change depreciation keys, recalulating,...) can result in postings in 2007 / 2008 what they don't want and later fiscal year problems. You will found a lot off masages about this on the form.

    1) Conversion can be done at any time during the year but before 31.12.07.
    2) say we have done the conversion in June 07 , here the depreciation is already calculated for april and may.07. so when we run the june 07 the depreciation will be calculated on prorata basis till june 07.
    3) whenever we wish to take the trial balance , we will get the ytd TB from april 07 . meaning if we take the trial balance in november 06 , we will get YTD TB from april 2007 till november 2007.
    4) as at 31.3.07 we will close the year end as usual, start the new fiscal year also as usual, meaning without changing the fiscal year to shortened fiscal year

  • Rep deseign question-- changing from (W_DAY_D) to Fiscal Calendar (M_CAL %

I am trying to find out some information on Rep design for a customer. The question is, for a given RPD file, with Dim - Date Dimension that is pointing to W_DAY_D (default Calendar Data), can the Source in RPD for Dim - Date Dimension be changed to Fiscal? Meaning, changing from (W_DAY_D) to Fiscal Calendar (M_CAL % tables).
    Please advise
    Thank you
    Ignacio

    Hi Ignacio,
I am going to assume that you are referring to the tables W_MCAL_DAY_D and W_DAY_D from the BI Apps OBAW data warehouse.
In my humble opinion, there are three main things (and whole bunch of minor things) you want to consider when you change out table sources.
    1) Make sure that the grains are the same. In your case, the table grains are both at the day level, so you are fine there.
    2) Make sure that you can map the primary key to the primary key. In this case W_MCAL_DAY.MCAL_DAY_DT = W_DAY_D.DAY_DT
    3) Make sure all other columns and foreign keys have been mapped. In this case a major secondary key is W_MCAL_DAY.MCAL_DAY_DT_WID = W_DAY_D.ROW_WID. You'll need to map the rest of the important columns yourself.
All in all, I think you can definitely swap the two tables out. Just execute caution and make sure you have a backup/recovery plan in case you need to revert.
Good luck and if you found this post useful, please award points!
    Best regards,
    -Joe

  • Scope statement for Change From Prior Year

    Hello All,
I have to create Current Year, Prior year  and change from Prior year for all the measures. I was able to creat current Year and Prior Year calcuation with scope statemnet. But I could not do the same for Change from Prior year.  I am getting 0 for
    all the months.
    Here is what i have:
    SCOPE([LABEL].[LABEL].&[ChangeFromPY])

    [LABEL].[LABEL].&[Current Year]

    [LABEL].[LABEL].&[Prior Year]

    Hi Om25,
According to your description, the Prior year calculation works on Excel, however, it not works when creating dashborad in performance Point, right? In this case, you can create separate measures for Prior Year in Cube, and use it in performance Point directly.

  • Defining the Fiscal Year Variant

Would someone explain the procedure for setting up the Fiscal year variant in the current version please.
The version I had used was 3.1h and the screens are now different. In 3.1h one simply copied the fiscal year variant (T.code OB29) using the copy command and one got a copy fiscal year dialog box in which one entered the data into the four fields.  But none of this now happens.
In both the current version and the old version (3.1h) I select in column FV "V3" ( the Fiscal year variant I want ) copy V3 and now I want to create a new Fiscal Variant with my own company two letter designation (e.g. YZ) taking the V3 copy as the model to use.  But I can't because nothing then happens.
In v3.1h a small sub window appeared when doing the copy ("copy icon") and in the first line was the copied designation code V3 with the description in the 2nd line and in the 3rd line one enterd one's own two letter company designation (e.g. YZ) plus the discription on line 4, click the tick and it was done.
How do I do that part now?  Because this sub screen does not now appear when trying to do a copy and create a copy designation.

    Hi Ton,
In transaction code <b>OB29</b> for the later versions of SAP (i.e. 4+), you don't get a pop-up window. The system just copy the selected Fiscal Year Variant. That is the only one you would see once you have highlighted the year variant you want to copy from and you hit the "<b>Copy</b>" icon. All the fields you need to change would still be open. In the <b>FV</b> column, just change it from <b>V3</b> to your new one <b>YZ</b>. Do the same for the description and the rest of the field you need to change and hit "<b>Enter</b>" on your keyboard. A diaglog box "Specify object to be copied" would appear. You can then "<b>Copy All</b>" or "<b>only Copy Entry</b>" depending on your need. If you select "Copy All", you would get a dialog box informing you of the <b>number of dependent entries copied</b>. You can then save your entries and carry out the rest of the set-up for "<b>Periods</b>", "<b>Period Texts</b>" and "<b>Shortened Fiscal Years</b>" as required by you.
    I hope the above helps.
Do not forget to award the points please.

    Jacob
