  • How do I make a main menu for a game?

    Hi,
I need to make a main menu for this tower defense game that I am making.  I have 2 parts to the menu that I need to put together.  I have it as follows:
I have a start screen where the player presses the start button.  I now need it to take the user to the main menu itself.  I have both the start menu and main menu in the same document but on different layers.  I have a button labeled as start which I have set up to where when it is clicked, it changes colors but I also need it to hide/show the menu layer.  I just need the that start button to take users to the menu layer where I have 3 more buttons which are resume, new, and options.  I will need those buttons to go to their different layers also.  After users hit the resume or new buttons, I need the game itself to start which I will start making after I figure out the other issues.
I am new to Flash and I really want to learn how to make tower defense games.  For now, I am using http://www.ehow.com/how_7788131_make-tower-defense-game-flash.html as a guide to make the game stuff but it doesn't say anything about a main menu.  I am using a trial version of Flash Pro CS6 and it is due to expire in 28 days.
Any and all help will be great! Thanks, xp3tp85

I used this and it worked:
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    start_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,startF);
    function startF (e:MouseEvent):void{
    gotoAndStop("main_menu");
On the next layer I used this and it worked too:
    back_button.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClick);
    function buttonClick(event:MouseEvent):void{
           gotoAndStop(1);
Apparently it wont let me use the same code twice on one timeline.  Is there any way around this?  I need a few more buttons on the main menu for the game.

  • How to block the Form Settings for Main Menu to use ONLY "My Menu"?

    Hi everyone:
Our customer wants to define an User Menu (My Menu) for each B1 user within the company and restrict the Modules at main menuu2026
How can I block the Form Settings for the Main Menu?... It is possible to give an user Only access to My Menu and denied Authorization to the Modules?.
I appreciate your help!!. Thanks very much
    Claudia Gutiérrez

    Hi,
'My Menu' refers to the third tab on the Main Menu, and the
authorization of 'Organize My Menu' works as below:
    - Full Authorization: Allows the user to access the Organize User Menu
window (Tools -> User Menu -> Organize) and customize the menu.
    - No Authorization: The user cannot open this window.

  • I am trying to make a main menu for my project but I don't know where IDVD is located?

I am trying to make a main menu but I read some info. and said I have to do it through IDVD and I tried it but can not find IDVD anywhere so I wanted to know if I have to purchase it or something and I also wanted to know how to create a main menu?

depends on how old your Mac is ...
newer machines do not come along with a pre-installed  iDVD (.. and iWeb ..) anymore; you have to purchase a boxed version of iLife11.
if somehow iDVD is installed on your Mac, you should find it in your Apps-folder
(or use Spotlight, search for iDVD) ...-

  • IPod returns to main menu for no apparent reason.

I just got my iPod Touch a few days ago, and today I noticed something peculiar. When I'm, say, using the map, Safari, contacts list, or anything that isn't Youtube or the music navigation, I will randomly be directed back to the main menu, without pressing the main button or doing any action that the iPod could possibly interpret as 'return to the main menu.'
So now I'm wondering why my iPod is doing this. I have not upgraded or downgraded my firmware since I got it, nor have I put any new programs or songs on since yesterday (it was working yesterday). Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello, and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This can sometimes happen, nothing to worry about (although it does make you wonder about the stability of the OS...)
A "solution" is to completely shut off (hold sleep button for several seconds) more often.
It's a known problem, I hope they get it fixed. Updating to the newest software might help, too.
    Hope this helps.

  • O make the In system preferences under Sound, there is no drop-down menu for "Use audio port for."  How do I switch the port to input?

I'm trying to use the audio input/output port to record in Garageband.  When I plug in my guitar it isn't recognized, and when I go to sound prefrences it does not give me the option to switch between input and output.  How do I switch it to input?

For GarageBand issues post in that forum.

  • At the main menu for Elements, where you can select Organizer or Photo Editor, when I signin to Editor nothing happens

When I am at the main screen to select either Organizer or Photo Editor, I click on Editor and it requires me to sign in. Once I sign (I have confirmed the login information) in and click the signin button the screen cycles and never logs in to Editor.

What is the version of your PSE?  In version 11 to go to the Editor, you need to click on the Editor tab as shown in this picture:

  • Adding sub-menus wrecks main menu bar display

I have just learned to create a Spry horizontal pull-down menu. I have dark gradient images for both the 'up' and 'down' states, and I've set my text attributes and everything works fine.
    (I'm new, but trying hard.)
    HOWEVER - I have 2 problems:
as soon as I add in sub-menus to a menu item, the gradient images fail to show on the main menu for that menu item only. I just get a white block, out of which you obviously can no longer read the white text. The gradients and other attributes immediately apply beautifully to the sub-menu items (even though I haven't even applied any attributes to them yet!), but they are lost from the main menu bar wherever I apply sub-menus.
ALSO - although the 'up' state gradient image works fine behind the menu item, the downstate does not show when I hover my mouse over it. I've checked that the 'up' and 'down' files are not identical, and I've ensured that they are both applied in the CSS.
When I remove the sub-menus - works fine. Add 'em back in, problem recurs. Applies to whichever menu item I apply the submenus to.
I have downloaded the latest version of Spry (no idea which version I already had) but can't see where to install it or how to run setup. Why are things never easy...?
I am using Dreameaver CS4 v10 and Chrome browser. Same thing happens in Firefox, IE and Safari - no difference.
Please forgive my newness. I have had a look at other similar forum posts but although people seemed to have linked issues, they were not the same.
Anyone any ideas? I am getting desperate. Been trying to fix it by myself all day.
    Thanks
    Nicola

    Nicola,
The Fact: It's all in the markup and the CSS.
The Problem:  We are not privy to your markup and CSS and as such cannot help you.
The Solution: Supply a link to your site, or at the very least, copy and paste your code here

  • Linking to mulitple DVDs from main menu

I'm doing my first DVDSP session. It's a wedding video. I'm including an edited video(24 minutes), photos, and then raw footage (roughly 3 hours). I have set up the main menu with edited video, photo, and then raw video options. When choosing raw video I want to be able to access chapters easily.
I understand that this is too much footage for 1 dvd and could even be too much for two dvds. I also know that if it were only two dvds I could set up the format so that DVDSP thinks I'm using a two-sided dvd and then burn to two separate dvds. But if this is three dvds how do I set it up so that the program and menu know this?
I'm thinking of the 4 dvd Lord of the Rings series where the main menu instructs you to insert the correct DVD when you choose an item not included on the inserted DVD (ie, "please insert DVD 4 now").
For example if I'm in the first DVD with the main menu and submenus and want to skip to the chapter where the best man makes a drunken fool of himself on the dance floor, can I set DVDSP up so that I'm told to insert DVD 3 to view the content?

Yes you can do that. I'm guessing though that the process won't be what you think. The function that you mention on the LOTR DVD isn't because the DVD "knows" where everything is. That works only by planning out what will be on each DVD and making what are essentially menus to refer the viewer to the disc that the content chosen is on. e.g. You use the same main menu for every disc, but on discs that don't actually contain that content you jump to a menu that says "content y is on disc x". That menu has 1 big button that jumps back to the main menu when selected.
In my experience it's better to make each disc its own thing, but to add an "Other Programs (or something along those lines)" button on the main menu. This button links to a single this stuff (list) is on other disc menu that will communicate where the content is without infuriating a viewer who keep selecting things just to be told they're on three discs.
Also... 3 hours of RAW FOOTAGE!? That's too much, and won't get watched, I promise. Cut it down and divide the rest into two sequences in FCP. You'll need two sequences so you have two MPEG 2s so you can put one on each disc. If you're wedding video spills onto 3 DVDs then you haven't cut enough and your bit rate is too high. When doing wedding videos I only ever went to 2 discs on long Catholic weddings.

  • Remote Menu button: to the chapter menu or the main menu?

Using DVD Pro (version 4.2.1) for the first time, and I've discovered a lot of fun elements. Here is a question about the remote control settings.
I want people to be able to return to the +main menu+ if they want while playing the track, by pressing 'menu' (and I've found the resume feature, too). However, the track has chapters, which are assigned to 3 chapter menus. So, when they are playing a particular chapter, i want them to be able to return from it to the +chapter menu+ it came from, by pressing the 'menu' button.
However, this doesn't work: when playing the video track, pressing the 'menu' button takes me to the chapter menu assigned to that particular chapter, not the main menu that I assigned to the track.
Well, I see in the handbook that the marker remote setting takes precedence over the track setting ... so which would you find preferable:
    1. when the viewer is playing the video, the menu button: goes back to the main menu.... then when the viewer is watching a particular chapter, pressing 'menu' also goes back to the main menu, instead of the chapter menu, so viewer has to navigate back into the 'scenes' menu
    or
2 when watching the whole video, pressing 'menu' takes the viewer to the chapter menu and then has to 'up' to the Main menu.... and therefore when watching a chapter only, 'menu' button returns to the particular chapter's menu, which is fine.
I thought I would have the 'menu' button return to the chapter menu:: up button for faster/easier access to the main menu, for viewers just watching the video, and convenience for viewers watching a chapter.
What is the more experienced opinion?
    thank you

Hal MacLean wrote:... 'Stories'. If you are playing the track from your main menu, then the menu call for the track should take you back to the main menu. If you are on a chapter menu and start playback then instead of going to the chapter marker, go to a story that contains the chapter marker instead. The story can also have a menu call and end jump set.
    Ahh!
The thing is, if you start a chapter playing, do you want the footage to continue to the end of the track, ....
Yes, that's exactly what i want, and as above, for the chapter in the chapter menu to return to that chapter menu
If the former, put all of your markers into a single story and set the menu call to go back to the chapter menu.
    Thank you!
I had already created stories from the second track on the dvd, with each one having an end jump back to the story menu and as no one had replied to this post, i had decided to make the chapters in the main track into stories too, but wanted them to continue into the next chapter. In fact i'd already created these 11 stories, some with 2 chapters in them, when I read your post.
So i did as you said and put all the chapter markers into one story, with no end jump for the chapters, but a menu call from the story to the 'chapter' menu instead of the main menu. Much cleaner than the way i had started to do.
And it works just the way i want it to : track's menu call is to the main menu, 'chapter' menu calls are to the chapter menu. Thank you so much!

  • New 2.2 firmware can blacken main menu ?!?

This is odd. I upgraded the iPhone to 2.2 and initially everything worked fine while the phone was still connected with USB to iTunes.
Then when I finally disconnected (this was for sure not during a sync) I could not get the it operational again anymore.
When tapping the menu button, the slider to Unlock appeared, but as soon as I slid that, I could see the main menu for a fraction of a millisecond and it immedeately darkened and the device was unresponsive .. except fot the off-button which I could hear it work.
Even totally switching off the device and restarting did not resolve the issue.
Fist when I reconnected it over USB with iTunes, the main menu appeared again.
    Is this a 2.2 bug?

    Hi,
Do you have a protective case on the iPhone? If you do try testing without it.
    "Proximity sensor.
When you lift iPhone to your ear, the proximity sensor immediately turns off the display to save power and prevent inadvertent touches." http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/sensors.html
If there is not a protective case on the iPhone, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

  • IDVD Main Menu Background

I want to have a video in the background on the main menu without using any of the themes? Does anyone know how to just make a video background without showing any part of the themes?

Here's how to remove the drop zones while adding a video to the background well in two easy steps ....
    http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/iDVD
Go to the above web site and look in "Preview Videos" follow the directions for removing drop zones (it's the 2nd QT video). Hope this solves the issue you are referring to, but if not just come on back.

  • Main network for backups, Guest for iTunes

I have a 2T TC (4th gen) up and running with both a main network (192...) and a guest network (172...) connected to DSL modem for high-speed internet access.
I want to dedicate the main network for use by family members - computers (4 Macs, 2 PCs), printers, etc. I wish to use the guest network for the kids and their friends to access the internet with their iPods/Pads/Phones, etc. So far so good.
I currently have the kids controlling iTunes/AirPlay into my whole house audio system. I configured an old PC configured as a music server connecting wirelessly to the main (192) net of the TC. It runs iTunes and sends its Apple Lossless CD files to an AirPort Express (wireless OFF, hardwired to Ethernet backbone) which converts them to optical and sends them to an audio receiver for D/A conversion and amplificaiton. The kids have the "Remote" app on their handhelds which allows them to either operate iTunes on the music server (with Dad's old crummy music) or to play their own iTunes music (term used loosely) via the same route (TC main net-> backbone -> AirPort -> receiver). OK, so far so good.
The question is how do I put the music server, AirPort Express and kids' handhelds on the guest network so I don't have to give out access to my main network to "friends of friends of friends"? It seems the Guest Network is only available wirelessly from the TC (on second floor). If i need to add wireless capability where the TC can't provide it (walkout level pool and patio), how can I extend the guest network? I have an older Netgear Wireless Routher that could be used. Also, I have ready acess to the ethernet backbone. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a fairly complex setup so let me toss in a hint.. and you will need to see if you can pursue it. Your ethernet backbone, so called, can run multiple IP address ranges or subnets. It is not obvious but the setup will require you to set addresses manually in the computer.
In OSX Just click the + in the network box and a dialogue box will pop up allowing you to set a secondary connection to either airport or ethernet. Select the one to use and then give the connection an obvious name.. eg secondaryeth1
In Windows PC you can setup secondary IP, but the first connection needs to be manually set as well. ie you cannot do dhcp and then add a secondary IP.
Then select that connection and give it a new IP in the secondary network using manual IP.. only give ip and subnet.. do not use a gateway (router) or dns address.. that will confuse the main gateway of the computer. You can then lose internet connection, and is not required for local LAN connection.
    .. end of hint.
Pure speculation.. you might be able to setup a secondary IP on the airport and connect to the guest network. But you will need to be careful that the server pc doesn't simply become a bridge between the two networks.
Or the connection to secondary IP via ethernet might allow it connect to the wireless connection on the TC if it isn't isolated.
The other method is to use your "I have an older Netgear Wireless Routher that could be used."
The trick here would be to use this as a WAP connected directly to the music server, via ethernet, on a secondary IP address. Don't use the guest network on the TC at all.
Whether this would then work to control music to the airport express.. that is where I get lost. And your setup is outside of my experience..

  • I have an open case. I can't get a response from Adobe. My computer was hit by lightening and cannot be repaired. It had Photoshop on it. I want to get a copy of Photoshop for my new computer using the serial

My computer that had Adobe Photoshop CS6 on it was hit by lightening and cannot be repaired. I want to get a copy of Photoshop for my new computer. I have an open case, but I cannot get Adobe to respond to it. I have sent the serial# and a copy of the license. Every time I try the chat function to get help, I get dropped with the message "chat is no longer available." I WANT MY PHOTOSHOP!

This is a user forum, not a channel to address Adobe. As your fellow users and volunteers, we'll be happy to help you if we can.
You can download the CS6 trial version just like anybody else.
Once you download it, you can install it, input your serial number, register it and apply all necessary updates.
An alternative, if you know how to access your Adobe account, under My Products you'll find your Photoshop CS6 registration, next to which you should find a link to download CS6 if you originally bought it as a download

  • Hi I was using whatsapp on my iPhone5.I was not able go to the main menu by pressing the center button so I hold on to the button for 2 seconds. Then the whole display turned out to be black

I was not able go to the main menu from whatsapp by pressing the center button so I hold on to the button for 2 seconds. Then the whole display turned out to be black & white. how can i fix it?

    Hello monicaa003,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone display turned black and white after holding down the Home button for 2 seconds, first try pressing the Home button again to go to the main menu (Home screen.)
For reference, holding down the Home button for 2 seconds will trigger Siri if that feature is enabled:
    About Siri - Apple Support
If pressing the Home button doesn't return you to the main menu, try restarting or resetting your iPhone:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Additionally, if Whatsapp is not responding or working as expected, see the troubleshooting steps at this link:
If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support
    Best Regards,
