Copy to two destinations

if i copy a file to a disk, and then copy it to another disk - so the same file is being copied to two places at once, does this risk making one of the copies innacurate because the file is being read from in two different places?
is there a way to do this automatically with automater perhaps?
and finally, how accurate is the copy funtion in os x? is there ever a chance ever that when i copy a file somewhere it won't copy exactly correctly? if so, other than checking the size (which often changes anyway depending on the drive formatting) is there any way to check the accuracy of the copy?
i'm asking in regards to copying video media off of express cards.

There is no risk in copying a file to two destinations simultaneously.
I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do so I can't answer your question about Automater.
The copy function in Mac OS X is fully trustworthy. There are plenty of technical details available in various places on the net. Get thee to a Googlery.
Copying files from removable media such as express cards is no different from the Finder's perspective than copying to different volumes on a hard drive. Don't worry about it.

  • Client Copy between Two Different Systems

    Hi!!
Could someone please explain or provide any documentation which explains how to perform client copy between two r/3 systems of same version(ecc 6.0)
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vishwa.

    Hi,
Save the contents that need to be copied in a Transport request at source client.
Now at the target client system,
execute transaction 'SCC1' and give the TR number and execute it.
The changes from the source client system this way will get copied to destination client system.
    Reward if useful!
    Thanks,

  • APP that will copy to multiple destinations at the same time?

Is there an APP that will copy folders to multiple destinations at the same time?
I'm copying like 16GBs at a time.. And would like to write to 2 separate destinations at once. SPEED is very important. A verify function would be very nice...
    Tx..
    Joe

This can be easily accomplished using Automator. Create a new Automator Files/Folders action. Steps involved are 'Get Specific Finder Items' and 'Copy Finder Items'. Save this as a Finder Application. I have a few of these just for copying to multiple destinations at once.
Copy speeds are dependent only to the buses that the drives are connected to. If the drives are all on separate buses, copy speeds will be as fast as they can be.
    Hope this helps.

  • ONE SOURCE TWO DESTINATIONS

    Hello
my scenario is source JMS adapter, i want to  send this source file to two destinations, one is Database other one is JMS target adapter. can anyone  explain wht are the steps required.
    Thanks

    Hey
u can use conditional receiver determination for this,
if u have some conditions based upon which you want to branchc off the message then give that condition over there,if u simply want to send every message to both the receivers then just give the business system name for both the receivers, you do need 2 interface determination and 2 receiver determination for this

  • PI System Copy (JCO RFC destinations missing)

    Hi,
We are doing a Homogeneous System Copy of a PI 7.0 system:
    - Source system --> PI 7.0 Production system ("PIP")
    - Destination system --> PI 7.0 Development system ("PID")
We are executing the specific POST activities for a PI system (point 5.2.3.2.4 in the "System Copy for NW2004s SR2 Abap+Java" guide). In point 5.2.3.2.4.2, PI RFC destinations must be adapted in both Abap (SM59) and Java (Visual Administrator, JCO RFC Provider). The problem is that in all PI abap RFC destinations (AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER etc) the program_id is pointing to our PI
Production system ("AI_RUNTIME_PIP"), is it OK?
Besides, in Visual Administrator (JCO RFC Provider service), all the required RFC listeners for PI ("AI_DIRECTORY_PIP", "AI_RUNTIME_PIP", etc.) are missing after the system copy (???). Must these RFC listeners be manually created? How can we do it? Must we create them with the development SID ("AI_RUNTIME_PID") or with the production SID ("AI_RUNTIME_PIP")? Perhaps PI configuration wizard must be executed after the system copy of a PI system so that these JCO RFC destinations are created, but we are afraid executing the wizard could harm the PI configuration...
    Thanks in advance.
    Jon Larrucea

    Hi Jon
Probably the best thing to do is just create these destinations manually. You will need to do this in SM59 and the Visual Administrator. See the link below:

  • Copy between two usb harddisks fails

    Interesting (?) problem:
I have two external usb 2.0 harddisks of 80 Gb each with an ext3 filesystem on it.
They are used as exact copies of each other so from time to time I want to copy the data from one harddisk to the other.
That is where the problem is.
As long as I copy say 1 Gb data everything goes ok.
But the harddisks contain more than 10 Gb data and somewhere during copying the copy itself hangs.
The same result occurs everytime when I use cp or rsync or whatever.
After the copy hangs the harddisks are still mounted but I do not see anything under the mount points.
I mount the harddisks with the '-o=sync' option.
When I do the same under Win'XP (with an ext2 filesystem driver) the copy is without any problems. Clearly I do not want to use XP.
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this? Is there some magical other option I have to use when mounting them?

have you thought of using dd to make an exact bitwise copy from source to target?
You might want to zero the target drive first, to ensure no data hangover.
you dont mount the drives for this operation.
but be very sure which drive is source and which is target.

  • Consolidating songs into 1 album that were copied into two separate albums (same name) when copied.

How can I consolidate two sets of songs into 1 album on Itunes.  For example; I downloaded an album and i got two copies (copy one has 1,3,4,5,7); copy two has 2,6,8...

Hey Ryan, When you looked at Get Info as Illaass instructed did you compare all the info listed in iTunes Get Info on the computer's copy? When you looked at the song(s) that are separated, do they list anything different like a featured artist? Or a different composer / song writer? Sometimes that will trick the the software into thinking it is 2 different albums. Make the info about the album and artist match, then sync to your iPod. The songs should go back where they belong on your iPod. Good luck. Cheers.

  • Question about aliases and copying to other destinations

Just curios, If I made a folder with aliases to from different places and wanted to copy the folder with the aliases to another computer say or a extternal hard drive that would be mainly used on the other computer would the folder actually copt the info so it could be used on the other computer? if No what would be the best workaround?
I will give you the scenairio I use a G5 fro my main recording computer and on it there is two drives ones for system and one fro recording and sampl playback.
Well I want to be able to have a folder that will go between both computers but I dont want to have to move all the folder into one folder to share between them (for alot of reaasons, mainly there is stuff on both drives that I need and want to keep it seperated. any help is appreciated

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you need to do but it seems as simple as if both computers are on a network turn on file sharing and allow each computer to serve files to the other? Yes?

  • Can itunes library file be shared or copied between two macs?

I have two macs that use the same networked hard drive for iTunes file storage. One is acting as a server front-end as it syncs with my AppleTV. The other I use on a daily basis, syncs with my iPhone and roams around the house. Ultimately I'd like to have both computers with iTunes show the same videos, music, ratings, play count, and other material. That way, if I download some music on the Macbook roaming laptop, it will sync with the Server computer and recognize when a file has been changed.
If I use automator to copy the latest itunes library file to both computers, will this doe the trick?
    Any suggestions?

Yes - store the files on the same drive as the tune files - nest them in the same order as if they were on your computer.
I usually rename the Library file to reflect the tunes - ie: I have a HD that has a iTunes library file named 'Really Big Music'. I do this so I don't accidentally delete the wrong library file. When opening iTunes -open with the 'option' key held down and the follow the dialog box and select the library that you want to open.

  • Backup scheme for two destinations?

Hi all,I'm helping at a small school and am working on implementing a backup solution here. What we have is two practically identical Dells (T110 II) as backup servers, with ~11 TB of usable space each. A "full" campus backup is estimated at around 6 TB, so the theory is to do a full backup each week, alternating between the two servers as a destination. In other words, there is a full backup made somewhere every week, but each backup server gets a new full backup every other week.Full-A I1 I2 I3 I4 I5 --------------------------- Full-A I1 I2 I3 I4 I5
--------------------------- Full-B I1 I2 I3 I4 I5 --------------------------- We are planning on nightly incrementals, but I'm not sure if those too should alternate weeks (as hopefully illustrated above), or continue straight through. If the latter, network congestion may possibly be a...

  • Copy between two beans

I've got two beans, that have the same elements, but are required to be sepearate objects because of other things going on in the application.
My question is, is there an easy way to copy the values from one bean to the other instead of doing alot of these:
    foo.setLikesCheese(bar.getLikesChesse());
What I'm looking for is something like:
    BeanCopy.copy(bar,foo);
Thanks in advance for all help.

What you have described is what you need to do in order to clone your source bean
As an alternative (if supported by your bean) you could try serialize >> un-serialize

  • HT201269 i have copied pictures from my old ipod 4th gen to my computer, i recently got a new ipod 4th gen today, i transferred all of my music, but when i open the folder to the DCIM (something like that) it will not let me copy the two photo folders, pl

I do not really understand what you are doing to get them from the iPod to the computer.
First import them to the computer by:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
The sync them to the the other device

  • Two Destinations problem

    Hi all,
I am working on the scenario (Jdbc to SAP(Destination1) If Data is successfully sent to the SAP then i have to sent the data to the DataBase(Destiantion 2))
    My BPM design as follows:
    1)Recieve (recieve jdbc message asynchronous)
2)Send  (send synchronous interface to SAP and get the response as a Jdbc message)(Destination 1)
3)Send (send response Jdbc message to the DataBase)
4)Switch (check the condition with repect to response(return) jdbc message Type = s )
    5)Inside switch (For destination 2)
       a) send (jdbc asynchronous message)
       b) Transformation (Interface mapping)
       c) Send (Jdbc data to the Destination)
BPM is being executed successfully upto 3rd step(i.e Successfully sent to SAP). But After that it is not executing.
Could anybody help me to solve this problem
    Thanks & Regards,
    sekhar.

    Hi Sekhar,
We didn't waste time in looking for an alternative solutions, we upgraded to SP10 and had no problems with switches anymore.

  • Illegal to run one copy on two computers?

I'm sure the answer is no, but is it illegal to run Illustrator CS3 on my iMac and my MacBook (for portability) at the same time?
    I haven't tried, I was just wondering.

As I understand it, you can't do that
at the same time. That is, you can't be using AI on your desktop while letting someone else use it on your laptop.
But the situation you describe, excluding the phrase "at the same time", is otherwise the particular situation that
is allowed. You can install the software on your desktop and on your laptop so as to allow you the practicality of using it when you are in the office, and when you are travelling. But you are not supposed to use it on both machines at the same time.
    Read the user agreement.
The whole thing is minutia-stupid, of course. It is my habit to goof around with AI on my laptop on Saturday mornings, usually while perusing this forum. I often leave my laptop on when later in the morning, I go out to the studio, where I launch it on my desktop. So technically, I'm not really
using it on two machines at one time (my arms aren't that long), but I do have it launched and running (uh, given Illustrator's performance, you might more accurately call that moseying) on both machines.
