Copying and Element

I've created an element consisting of three paragraphs of text and animated within the element on its own timeline.  This element has been turned into a symbol.  We'll call this element "original".
I then copied original in order to make a second, similar element, and named the copy duplicate.  When I double click on duplicate in order to modify it's timeline, I keep drilling down into original.
I've tried copy/paste from inside the Elements panel on the right and I've tried copy/paste from within the main stage timeline.  In both cases, the remaned copy (duplicate) does not open and allow me to make changes without those changes being effected on the timeline of original.
I don't want a second, identical iteration of original, I want to use original as a template to build out a similar but different element/symbol called duplicate.
I am running the most current copy of EA - downloaded last night.
Thoughts?
Thank you.
Andy.

Version 3 of EA:
You can use the same symbol and change it's content dynamically whether it is text or images.
Give us a little more details on what you are doing.
I usually make array of text and images and then use the array to load what I want in the symbol.
I created this example for another user who wanted to change the image of a symbol. If you have text you can do the same thing. I updated for you with text for you to see how it is done:
https://app.box.com/s/3ms92f5cv0mylspsi5uo
You could also have the array made differently if you have more different elements:
example:
var info = [
{ 'title': ' A fish', 'image': 'images/fish.jpg', 'description':' A fish is an animal that lives in water.' },
{ 'title': ' A rose', 'image': 'images/rose.jpg', 'description':' A rose is a flower with many diiferent colors.' },
{ 'title': ' A dog', 'image': 'images/dog.jpg', 'description':' A dog is an animal that is well adapted to be a pet.' },
{ 'title': ' A corvette', 'image': 'images/corvette.jpg', 'description':' A covervette is a sports car.' }
Then you can use the array with:
sym.getSymbol("#newButton"+i).$('fruit').attr('src','images/'+info[i].image+'.png');
sym.getSymbol("#newButton"+i).$('title').html(info[i].title);
sym.getSymbol("#newButton"+i).$('descrition').html(info[i].description);

  • How do I copy and paste from Word into Adobe Photoshop Elements 13

    using Windows 7 Professional SP1, Microsoft Office 365 (Office 2013).
    I can copy the text within a word document, without a problem.
    However, the paste options are greyed out and "Ctrl"+"V" does not work.
    Am I missing something, as I can't work out how to copy the text from word, to use as a basis for my photo shop document.

    Hey, guys. I am a complete noob to Elements 13. I need to get something done relatively quickly and I need to learn how to copy and paste from a Word document. How do I do this?
    Copy the text in WORD to place it on the clipboard
    Open PSE in Expert tab
    Open your picture file
    Get the type tool out of the tool box, click an insertion point
    Go to Edit>paste
    You should see two layers in the layers palette: background layer, and layer with the text.

    You know that you lost the layers when you saved it as a jpeg, right? But you're saying you can't add layers to the jpeg now when it's open in the editor? Go to Image>mode and be sure it's RGB, for starters. Are all the commands in the Layer menu grayed out?

    In full Editor:
    Go to Select menu>all

    Go to your destination document>Paste
    Hope that this works for you as well.

    My copy of elements 12 has version 8.0 of camera raw and I need version 8.1 in order to open my camera's files.  What can I do?

    I think there were two shipped versions of PSE12, one with ACR8.0 and the other with ACR8.1 - possibly country specific.

  • Can I use one licensed copy of Elements on both a PC and a Mac?

    Can I use one licensed copy of Elements on both a PC and a Mac?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I'll be buying a boxed version which says it comes with CD's for both platforms.
    The Mac doesn't get used very often for photo editing, but it would be nice to have that option.

  • I have just bought a new laptop and want to move my copy of Elements over to it before my existing laptop finally gives up the ghost. What is the procedure?

    How do I move my copy of elements from one laptop to another ? It was purchased on line so I do not have any discs.

    That's not how it works. Authorising is for music purchased from iTunes, not for music you've imported from CDsor elsewhere. Music purchased form other suppliers would also not be subject to this authorising procedure.
    Do you still have the old computer? If so, you need to copy the iTunes Library from that to the new computer. For example, in Windows XP, I would copy the My Music folder (which contains the iTunes Library, my Amazon MP3 purchases and album artwork) and put that onto an external drive. Then move the drive to the new computer and copy the copied folder onto the new machine thereby replacing the new machine's My Music folder. Then tell iTunes to look at the imported Library.
    Obviously, you need to take into account that you have Windows 7 (where I assume the folder names may be different), any other places on you old machine where songs are located and so on.

  • Copy and paste of an element does not seem to work in the web page design??

    I have tried to copy and paste of an element BUT it does not seem to work in the web page design??

    Hi;
    The copy and paste keyboard commands in the app are controlled by Flash Player, sometimes there are issues with a browser/OS combination, make sure that Flash Player is up to date and if that doesn't help try another web browser.
    Thanks,

  • Copy and Paste keywords in Elements 8

    I have just started to embed keywords on the file info on images that I am submitting for sale.   I cannot seem to copy and paste and have to type keywords repeatedly on each image.  Am I doing something wrong ?

      I would recommend using Organizer. You will find key wording in bulk much easier.
    Simply launch the Organizer and use the menu:
    File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders
    Navigate to My Pictures or your root folder if different.
    Select all sub folders and click open or get media.
    Accept all existing keywords and wait for thumbnails to be generated.
      N.B. You are not importing anything physically. Organizer simply makes links to the files already on your hard drive.

  • Need to remove photshop and elements 8 from this old win xp computer and install it on new computer. I have the hard copy of the program, howeve registration here may prevent me from re-installing

    how can I remove photoshop and elements 8 from this older computer and install on new computer when it arrives

    You uninstall using the Windows control panel, and you install the same way you did on your old computer... put the disc in the drive and follow the onscreen instructions
    Also, unless you are asking about CLOUD programs, you will do better in the specific program forums

  • Keynote and transfer of presentations why can't I copy and paste?

    Hey Community!
         I've always been a Mac lover, but now....... I'm ready to do somethin'......  Very frustrated with update to new Mavericks and Keynote V.6.  I have updated my presentations from the previous version of Keynote into the new version.  I am trying to copy and paste elements from multiple seperates presentations into one presentation.  When I paste the presentation into my "master", the font size changes, format changes.  It's a pain in the (beep, boop, poop).
    I get a message:  OSX Spotlight search information was removed".
         I'm really confused.  Why can't one just copy and paste from one show to another when its in the same program!?

    If I understand correctly you want the title to appear on top of a later video clip so both title and clip are visible.   The problem is the "whites" background which is both making the background opaque and stopping you from pasting it above another clip.  If you just select and drag the title by itself, the background will be transparent so the video clip below will show through.  You should also be able to copy and paste it directly above the clip you want.
    If you want different parts of the title to have a special effect you will have to edit each instance after you have made and positioned the copies.
    I hope this helps - or have I misunderstood?
    Geoff.

  • Can't download my purchased copy of Elements 12

    I purchased Photoshop Elements 12 on Dec 23, 2013. Adobe later offered an update to version 12.1.  I installed the update.
    I just bought a new computer running Windows 7, and I would like to download and install the Photoshop Elements that I had purchased.
    According to the Help in Photoshop Elements 12, I had to uninstall Photoshop Elements 12 on my old computer.  I did this.  During the uninstall a check box is supposed to appear that says something like "Deactivate product".  No such checkbox appeared during the uninstall.
    I have signed in to my account on the Adobe website several times.  It lists my purchased copy of Elements 12 but will not allow me to download it to my new computer.
    Not only will Adobe not allow phone tech support for Elements 12 owners, but they won't allow me to computer chat with support.
    Is there any way to contact Adobe support?
    How can I download and install my purchased copy of Photoshop Elements 12 onto my new computer?

    Deactivate is for PSE11 and earlier. In PSE12 you use the Help> Sign Out menu. There should be nothing to stop you downloading the software as many times as you want, maybe it is a problem with the servers. Instead of downloading from your 'My Adobe A/c' download the trial instead - it is identical.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=en
    PSE12 allows you to install on as many computers as you have -  even dozens or hundreds. but only two can ever be signed in and activated at any one time.

  • Creation of Copy and insert in Table

    Hi guys,
               I am new to Web Dynpro.I have created one table from SAP by calling of RFC Adaptive method. Now i want to create copy the table single or multiple rows and paste in same table.
                Could anyone please send me that exact documentation for creation of copy and paste button.
    Regards
    Velu.

    Hi Kulanthaivelu,
    There is no such exact documentation. But you can implement that using the code. You have to keep few things in mind for this particular code:
    1) There should be one empty row where you want to paste the selected row.
    2) You cannot copy a selected row on a row already having some data. If you want to do that you have to modify the code.
    3) This code is not for multiple copy & paste. For doing that you can modify the code.
    <b>Steps for Copy:</b>
    1) Create a button and create a action for that say Copy
    2) Write this code for implementation of this function:
    public void onActionCopy(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionCopy(ServerEvent)
           int currentIndex = wdContext.node<having_the_attributes_for_column>().getLeadSelection();
           IWDNodeElement ne1 = wdContext.node<having_the_attributes_for_column>().createElement();
           WDCopyService.copyCorresponding(wdContext.node<having_the_attributes_for_column>().getElementAt(currentIndex),ne1);
           ne = ne1;
        //@@end
    <b>Steps for Paste:</b>
    1) Create a button and create a action for that say Paste.
    2) Write this code for implementation of this function:
    public void onActionPaste(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionPaste(ServerEvent)
           int currentIndex = wdContext.node<having_the_attributes_for_column>().getLeadSelection();
           IWDNodeElement tempElement = wdContext.node<having_the_attributes_for_column>().getElementAt(currentIndex);
           if(!isRowBlank(tempElement)){
                wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getMessageManager().reportException("You can paste elements only in a blank row");
           else{
                  WDCopyService.copyCorresponding(ne,wdContext.node<having_the_attributes_for_column>().getElementAt(currentIndex));
        //@@end
    <b>isRowBlank Funtion:</b>
    public boolean isRowBlank( com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDNodeElement nodeElement )  {
        //@@begin isRowBlank()
           IWDNode node = nodeElement.node();
           Iterator itr = node.getNodeInfo().iterateAttributes();
           while(itr.hasNext()){
                IWDAttributeInfo info = (IWDAttributeInfo)itr.next();
                if(nodeElement.getAttributeValue(info.getName())!= null){
                     return false;
           return true;
        //@@end
    I hope this helps you!!

    Errors thrown by Oracle always show a line number (even if it points to the FOR loop that the error occurred within). When you run it, what is the error stack that is being returned. Copy and paste that, don't summarize it.
    If you are still uncertain, add a final
    EXCEPTION
      WHEN OTHERS THEN
         dbms_output.put_line(DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_ERROR_BACKTRACE);to have it written out where your normal dbms_output goes. This is your friend in 10g for tracking down errors.
    "But as soon as i add a prefix in the header everything works fine."
    Is that header in the sample XML you provided? Regardless what are you adding? Your data is a clob so you can always tweak it before converting it to a DOMDocument just by doing simple string manipulation.
    Since you are in 10g, you should be using dbms_xmldom instead of xmldom. I think xmldom is just a synonym for dbms_xmldom though. Review the dbms_xmldom documentation. You can go straight from a clob to a DOMDocument via DBMS_XMLDOM.NEWDOMDOCUMENT. You can also parse the document completely using dbms_xmldom calls instead of xslprocessor calls.
    Other random things to evaluate:
    Consider turning
             FOR each_FC IN t_tab_FC.first .. t_tab_FC.last LOOP
                INSERT INTO FileControl
    into a
             FORALL i IN t_tab_FC.first .. t_tab_FC.last LOOP
                INSERT INTO FileControl
                 ...Better performance because one two context switches (PL/SQL -> SQL -> PL/SQL) instead of 2*n switches.
    I like this construct better
       TYPE tab_type IS TABLE OF FileControl%ROWTYPE INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
       t_tab_FC tab_type := tab_type;because then you don't have to       t_tab_FC.extend;you can just do something like     index := 1;
         LOOP
            t_tab_FC(index).creation_date := <whatever>;
            index := index + 1;
         END LOOPYou also have the option of parsing your XML as a XMLType, including purely in SQL, but you can research that avenue at a later date.
    Forgot to mention, wrap any code examples in [ pre ] [ pre ] (without the spaces) to retain your formatting.

The PSE file at the top level of the PSE folder in Applications is just an alias for the welcome screen and what you're describing is exactly what happens when you choose that. You want this one:
