Hi Expert,
I am now setting up user authorizations and there are a group of more than 5 users login using the same authorizations and wish to have a shortcut by setting up one user and copy it to another 4 users in the SAME COMPANY database.  Is there any SQL SCRIPT sample that can help up?
Thank you and regards,

Hi,
pls think of using Group authorizations, rather than copying . pls Refer the Authorizations doc for this.

• Migrating user information between databases

I am not a oracle DBA but have been placed in the role.
My situation is as follows I need to migrate all the users from one database to another.
I am working on Oracle 9i and noticed there is a file called user.dbf that looks like the right one. Is it possible to just move the folder or is there a procedure to follow.
If anyone knows where to find some good documentation about this task it would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance
Lance

"I am not a oracle DBA but have been placed in the role."
You should go to the person who did the "placing" and tell them that if they value their data they should arrange for you to be trained properly. Who would this person choose if they needed heart surgery, someone they met down the pub who happens to own a knife ?
Your suggested method appears to be based on a wild guess and would ruin your database. It is no criticism of yourself, but like everyone else you were not born with DBA knowledge.

• Copy user menus between servers.

I need to copy 12.1 from development to Qa and Prod systems.
How do I copy the menu that I have created in MII, what file contains the menus?
Thanks

Hi Andy,
By menus, I assume you mean the Navigation Links?  If so, under the System Management -> Configurations, export the Navigation configuration and import it into the new system.

• Copy user login

Dear All,
I have a problem about user Login in SQL Server 2008.
because I restore database from another server, user Login for that database already created but not in instance user login. So when user login into instance name they have failed login.
what that i missed before restore database so when user login into instance they do not failed?
or how that i can copy user login  from database to instance login? because when i add from add login wizard i have error user already created.
please help.
Best regards,
Surbakti

When a database is moved from one server to another server the login ids stored in the master database do not align with the login ids
stored in each user database or there is no login id or password associated with the user and user in the database becomes ORPHAN.
To fix this problem you need to transfer Logins & password refer below link to Transfer Logins & Passwords.

• Copy users between releases

Hello,
I know that this is not supported using SCC8, but is there any other way to do this in a good way?
We want to copy only the username and password and personal settings from our old NW 2004s to our new NW 701.
No roles or groups should be included since a new authorization koncept will be used.
I have recieved the following suggestions for tables to be exported:
AGR_DATEU     Personal settings for roles
SMEN_BUFFC     Table for Storing Favorites
SMEN_BUFFI     Links for Favorites
USR02     Logon Data (Kernel-Side Use)
Does anyone have any other idea or comments to this? If anyone have done somthing similar I'm very intressted to know.
Thanks and Best regards
Tomas

Steven,
just came across the same problem. I found it hard to believe that there would be no standard transacton to do this.... but there is!
Use SU10 to copy roles from a "promoted" reference user.
Here is how it works:
1) start TC SU10
2) enter the user(s) you would like to change in the list
3) click on the change button (shift-F6)
4) select the roles tab (note the ADD radio button is highlighted by default, so additional roles are added)
5) enter the user name to copy role assignments from in the field next to: "Reference user for additional rights"
6) check the change box
7) press enter
8) you may get a warning message, press enter again (this is the "promotion" - )
9) click the SAVE button
10) you should get a warning that user accounts will change, confirm
11) after this you should see a summary of changes
12) Done!
You can use  TC: S_BCE_68001430 to compare assigned authorizations between the two users just to double-check, if you find discrepancies, double-click on the object, the expance Val.Combination1 and Authoriz. to see where differences come from
Note that Report TC: RSSCD100_PFCG_USER - Change Documents For Role Assignment apparently does not pick up mass changes from SU10
Hope it helps.
regards,
Matt

• Confussing between Database User and Application User in Discoverer

Hi All,
I am new to Discoverer.
Please let me know the difference between Database User and Application User in Discoverer Administrator as well as in Discoverer Desktop Editions.
1) While I am trying to connect to Discoverer Desktop, I am unable to connect to it with Apps Database User.
2) Where the Discoverer compenent will be installed and what the configuration settings need to done work on it.
Please let me know the answers soon.
Thanks in Advance.

Hello
I think a database user should pretty much be self explanatory - this is a user account that exists in the database. This account is created by your Database Administrator (DBA).
The second kind of user that Discoverer understands is a user that exists inside Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), formerly known as Oracle Applications, hence an application user. This user account gets created by the EBS system administrator.
Now, just because you're using EBS, it does not automatically follow that users will be application users. Let me explain.
Discoverer can be installed in one of two modes, standard mode and Applications mode.
The vast majority of organizations use standard mode which means they allow database users to access the system.
The only time that you will need an applications account is under the following two rules:
1. Your organization is using E-Business Suite, AND
2. Your Discoverer administrator has installed Discoverer in Applications mode.
Applicatons mode does not happen automatically, even if you have EBS, and you cannot install that mode by accident. You have to tell Discoverer that it is operating in that mode, provide some additional EBS account information, make security assignments and set users have to deliberately tell Discoverer they want to connect using an applications account.
May I suggest you get hold of a copy of the Oracle Discoverer 10g Handbook that I wrote. That book explains in detail the differences between the modes. I also have a free white paper on my website that describes how to install Discoverer into Applications mode.
I hope this helps
Best wishes

• How to copy the content in XMLtype column between databases

Hi, there,
Does anyone know how to copy the content in XMLtype clumn between databases? I tried insert as select via database link and it gives me the following message:
SQL> insert into nrt_ot_request_temp (SR_ID, SR_VERSION, ITEM_NUMBER, COMMON_XML, REQUEST_XML )
2 select SR_ID, SR_VERSION, ITEM_NUMBER, COMMON_XML, REQUEST_XML from nrt_ot_request@nrtdb_acacia;
select SR_ID, SR_VERSION, ITEM_NUMBER, COMMON_XML, REQUEST_XML from nrt_ot_request@nrtdb_acacia
ERROR at line 2:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Thanks,
Jessica

Hi Jessica,
in my eyes the second statement
select ... xmlstring_column ... from table@remote_side;
causes the error. Columns of type XMLString internally are stored as CLOBs in Oracle. Unfortunately there are restrictions on statements for CLOBs and remote locators.
It seems you cannot say
SELECT clob_column FROM table@remote_site;
Remark: For me this is a showstopper for the datatype XMLString if you cannot run a simple statement like this one. It seems you can do an insert and an update but no select.
On the other hand your first statement
INSERT INTO table_local SELECT * FROM table@remote_site;
should work following the documentation.

• Copy few test assignment with User from one database instance to another

Hi,
I have OTL ,Payroll and HRMS system. I want to Copy few test assignment with User(Few FND Users) from one database instance to another .
Source: DEV Instance
OTL users to enter their Time sheet
OTL is intergated with HRMS to pickup Employee information
Existing business users are integrated with Employee assignment etc tables to pickup person_id
Target: Want to copy few test OTL users from ONE instance to another. Bringing FND_User is easy but EMPLOYEE_ID, PERSON_PART_ID will not come during FNDLOADER .
How to bring all information from one instance to another instance? Please advice.
thanks .

Dear,
Try using HRMS configuration workbench. For this you might require support from your DBA for configuring the same. Once configured, you can move the items you want.

• Difference Between Database Schema and Database User Account ??

First i would like to know what an Oracle Database schema exactly is ?
And what is it for and also What is it's use ?
Later the exact "Difference Between Database Schema and Database User Account".
I googled about it but i'm unable to find out it's The difference,
Please try to explain in a simple manner........
Thank you very Much in Advance..........

Greate example. but i would like add one more point..
a user is a schema and schema is a user. but when this applies to the user that he become a schema, only if he has got some objects. so we can say while creating the user which dosent contain any objects called simple user account but afterwords when he has got an objects then we can say its a schema as the above user has shown you through the exampleIt is just word-play. There is nothing in like a 'status' indicator to say "USER_A is just a user but USER_B has become a schema". Many people use the terms "user" and "schema" interchangeably, and some very good DBAs will insist this is correct. I don't disagree with them even though I usually try to make the distinction.
In a typical application, all of the objects (tables, procedures, etc) that implement the app will be owned by a "application schema owner" - a user which exists for the sole purpose of owning the schema. Said user will have no privileges at all .. especially not CREATE SESSION. Except for possible maintenance activity no one ever actually connects as this user. User accounts are then given to actual humans who connect with their own accounts. The accounts have the necessary system and object privileges granted to them - via a role. One could also create a special account (let's call it APP_ADMIN) that is used for maintenance and batch operations within the application.

• No users available ; no database client tool

Hi,
during a system copy we are stuck due to the fact that we can not logon to the 4.6C system.  SAP is up-and-running without errors.
The database runs on the IBM Mainframe with zOS with DB V8. The SAP application server runs on AIX. Since it is a older version it runs with the ICLI-client as interface for connection between SAP and DB2; not DB2Connect.
The problems are multiple
we can not apply a new saplicense to the system (not even a temp license), because we get saplicense connection errors.
SAPLICENSE (Release 46D) ERROR ***
ERROR:   Creation of license table failed
DETAILS: DbSlExecute failed with return code 107
DSNT408I SQLCODE = -204, ERROR:  SAPLOD IS AN UNDEFINED NAME
DSNT418I SQLSTATE   = 42704 SQLSTATE RETURN CODE
DSNT415I SQLERRP    = DSNXISUB SQL PROCEDURE DETECTING ERROR
DSNT416I SQLERRD    = 40  0  0  -1  0  0 SQL DIAGNOSTIC INF ...
We have no high privileged users on the system (they now can not login, because of license problems). Furthermore no password of SAPStar.
A way to go would be to delete the sapstar-user in the database. The problem is that we can not find the tool to connect to the database. This installation works with the ICLI-client, so if we use DB2Connect (db2) we also get the message that ICLI-server is use. So connecting here is not possible.
db2 => connect to T67 user t67adm
Enter current password for t67adm:
SQL30081N  A communication error has been detected.  Communication protocol
being used: "TCP/IP".  Communication API being used: "SOCKETS".  Location
where the error was detected: "10.96.18.123".  Communication function
detecting the error: "recv".  Protocol specific error code(s): "73", "*", "0".
SQLSTATE=08001
How can we logon to the system? Is there ICLI-client tool (besides DB2Connect) to execute the SQL-statement to delete the sapstar-user?
Or is there any other way?
Please help requested. Thanks in advance.
best regards,
Paul Geraedts

How did you copy the system?
Will the SAP instance start? "sapstart"
You can get into DB from the SYSTEM Z side using spufi and DB2 commands.
Find a DBA they should be able to get information .
The first thing I see strange is
DSNT408I SQLCODE = -204, ERROR: SAPLOD IS AN UNDEFINED NAME
If really did copy the table should be there.
from UNIX appserver sidadm run saplicense -get  does this command work?

• Transfer whole schema between databases

Hi,
I have a question on how to move an entire schema between two databases which are of the same version and patchset.
I identified the possible methods as follows:
1) Using exp/imp or expdp/impdp, but that's quite slow on larger schemas and the transported data might not be physically the same as on the source database (indexes are rebuilt, tables get loaded with data again....).
2) Using transportable tablespaces. This is fast, the physical data layout is the same as on the source database, but unfortunately only the objects in the transported tablespace get transferred. Schema objects like PL/SQL packages, private synonyms, functions.... and grants aren't transferred since they are stored in the SYSTEM tablespace.
Is there any other way to move a schema between databases? Maybe some combination of expdp/impdp (transfer of user object definitions stored in the SYSTEM tablespace like PL/SQL code, view definitions, etc.) and transportable tablespaces (transfer data segments like tables, indexes....)
From what I know RMAN can't do that since the smallest "logical object" it can restore/recover is the whole tablespace with tablespace point in time recovery.
Thanks in advance for any answer.

Jure

JureIf you have only one business schema, then you may go with duplication of database.
Otherwise, you can go with Schema Based Replication with Streams or as you said combination of expdp/impdp and transport.
