Corrupt InDesign File CC 2014, HELP!!!

My InDesign file keeps crashing when I open it.
Unfortunately I had to do a force quit last night due to InDesign not responding, I believe that is what caused the file to be corrupt.
All other InDesign files work.
Any help translating crash report would be GREATLY appreciatedhelp, I'm under a tight deadline with a client, eek!!! HELP!
Below is the crash report:

When I try the following script within InDesign, it still opens the corrupt file, then does the normal crashing.
I tried running the script on software program AdobeExtendScript Toolkit, and when I run the script it states: "app.open is not a function"
Should we change anything to the script below?
// blindOpen_and_IDML-Export.jsx
var _file = File.openDialog("InDesign-Datei"); // Selection of a file
if(_file != null)
var d = app.open(_file, false); // Open the file without showing it
d.exportFile(ExportFormat.INDESIGN_MARKUP,  File(_file.fullName.replace(/.indd$/i,'.idml'))); // Export im IDML-Format
d.close(SaveOptions.NO); // Close without saving

  • Is there ANY way to fix a corrupt InDesign file??

    My computer crashed last night and the InDesign file i was working on seems to have been corrupted.
    When i try to open the file i get the following message:
    "Adobe Indesign automatic recovery failed the last time it tried to open the document"
    when i click yes to begin recovery, InDesign crashes. i've deleted the prefs and cache files and restarted, but the problem persists.
    I can open other InDesign files, so the problem seems to be with this particular one.
    is there any fix at all??!??! this is a 60+ page document and i am on deadline.
    p.s. my backup copy seems to have gotten corrupted in the process as well, so i am really concerned.
    OS X 10.5.1
    InDesign 5.0.2
    thanks for any assistance.

    Ok, here's what's next.
    Have you trashed your InD prefs? This might be a good place to start. You'll have to search for the specs on doing this, I don't have that info handy. But it's a good place to start.
    If that doesn't help, let's see if there's something in your OS that's causing the crash -
    Do a "safe boot" - restart, hold down the shift key during startup till you see the words "Safe Boot" on the startup screen. This will disable any non-apple extensions and fonts. I'm starting to think you've got a bad font.
    Now, in SafeBoot mode, try to open the file. Try to save the file. Try to Export and INX. If all of this works better than during the regular startup then we've hit on something. If a safeboot is helpful, consider an archive and install of the OS. Could be something got corrupted.
    If the safeboot doesn't help, here's what's next:
    You might try working with the file in under a new user account that hasn't had a million drivers and extension added to it. Here's a rough outline of the steps I have in mind (though you'll have to figure this out yourself)
    First, set the permissions for all the job files to Read-Write for all users. If you don't do this, the new-user won't be able to open the files.
    Create a new user account, call it "Clean Account". Reboot into the clean account.
    Now try to work with the job. Any luck? Missing fonts? Move the job fonts into the clean user account. Are you crashing now? Bingo - it's a bad font. Are you in better shape now in the clean user? Bingo - it's some driver, haxie or extension.
    Maybe you're due for an "Archive and Install" from the original system disks, or even a "Clean Install" if you've got a free weekend to rebuild your environment.
    I guess there's also re-install the app, though I've never had to do that. But it's harmless to try.
    these are just ideas - something is wrong - corrupted - bad. Could be in the OS, InD, a bad font, even a bad placed EPS (you don't use EPS files, do you?). So I'm just thinking out loud. These are all good trouble shooing options.
    And check the disk with a utility. You didn't say that you'd done that.

  • Corrupted .rar file / incorrect password (help please)

    hi there,
    i have been sent several .rar video files and usually have no problem expanding them. i generally use Rar Expander and UnrarX. this time however, half-way through the expansion, it always stops, saying the password is incorrect or the file is corrupted. whilst it is being expanded i can watch the file up until the half-way point by locating it in finder. my mate has constantly tried uploading and sending me the file that seems to be corrupted but it's always the same issue. is there a way i can start the expansion after the corrupted file so i can see the other half of the file or expand each file individually. i also have VLC Rar Loader but for some reason I can't open this individual files in this either. please help, i would greatly appreciate.
    thanks in advance, ravi.

    Consecutive rar files cannot be opened individually. So if you have 10 .rar files, and the 5th one is broken, you can only view items in .rar files 1~4, and parts of 5 if you're lucky.
    Sorry, but that's how split compression works. You miiight be able to fix it using some special tool, but I don't know of any that works if the resulting file is supposed to be one giant video file.
    In all honesty, you would be better off re-downloading from their origins.

  • InCopy corrupts InDesign files

    After exporting ID file to InCopy and applying any changes in InCopy, things are totally messed up in InDesign.
    Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
    Below screenshots and here is ID file: link

    Why do you think so?
    It is clearly visible on the screenshots that font SIZE and COLOR are changed.
    There is something wrong with text content also. Texts are mixed up.
    This has nothing to do with missing fonts.

  • Corrupted Data file. Please help.  No backups :(

    I have a problem with my test DB (Oracle 92. Solaris).
    One of the hard disk's down and we lost some data files.
    There are no backups as it's a test.
    after DB startup I get :
    ORA-01157: cannot identify/lock data file 38 - see DBWR trace file
    ORA-01110: data file 38: '/ora09/geo/undotbs5.dbf'
    /ora09/ was mounted on that broken Disk :(.
    How can I redefine this file. Is there any solution ?
    Please advise, if somebody's experienced.

    Thank you all !
    Unfortunately there are no backups :(
    This is test server and it is not working in archive log mode.
    I check lost data files from v$datafile;
    /ora09/geo/cb_t_11.dbf 0
    /ora09/geo/undotbs4.dbf 0
    /ora09/geo/undotbs5.dbf 0
    /ora09/geo/undotbs6.dbf 0
    /ora09/geo/undotbs7.dbf 0
    /ora09/geo/undotbs8.dbf 0
    But they all have zero size. This ora09 was mointed several days ago.
    I hope that there was no data in these files.
    Is it possible to create new files and tell DB to work with them.

  • Why does a TIF image look blurry when placed in InDesign file?

    Hi all,
    I've placed a logo in my InDesign file that I saved out of Photoshop. It appear blurry when in InDesign and I do have it set to high image quality display so that isn't the issue. It is also set as CMYK and I haven't resized it after saving from Photoshop.
    I tried saving a jpg so it would be crisper but then I have a white box behind it when placed in the InDesign file.
    Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to send it to print but can't let it go until I'm sure it won't print like a blurry mess.
    Thanks

    Sub-pixel sampling. Read up on it. you are placing your images at odd values and it gets resampled. Can be anything from the image inside the frame, the image frame itself, some styling option in ID...

  • [CORRUPT] indesign cannot open the file

    Hi,
    Indesign is unable to open this file please help me recover this file.
    v. CC 2014
    layout-1.indd
    Regards

    Do other files open?
    You can try the blind-export script at Adobe Community: InDesign 6 is crashing when attempting to open a particular document. All others are opening OK.  or the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X
    and you should also look at Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding for how to convert to a crash so we can see (maybe) where the problem is.

  • A client has sent me an indesign file I cannot open. She says she has updated to Indesign CC 2014. I am a CC member and fully updated my own software but cannot open the file she has sent me, not even if she saves as an IDML, how do I resolve the problem?

    A client has sent me an indesign file I cannot open. She says she has updated to Indesign CC 2014. I am a CC member and fully updated my own software but cannot open the file she has sent me, not even if she saves as an IDML, how do I resolve the problem?

    There are a few things to try.
    First, if this file came to you vial email attachment, it could have been corrupted. Ask her to zip the file and send it again. That sometimes helps.
    I suppose there's a chance that the file is already zipped, so see if that's the case and unzip it if so.
    If the file name doesn't end with .indd, add it and see if that helps.
    If you are double-clicking, try File>Open from within InDesign.
    Last (and I know this sounds like a joke, but I've seen it many times), sometimes people attach a Mac Alias or Windows Shortcut instead of the actual file. What is the file size? If it's really small, that might be the reason.
    Also, no offense intended if some of this sounds like stuff you have already tried. I don't know what you know, so I'm just spit-balling.

  • InDesign CC Server 2014 app.open() File does not exist.

    I've set up InDesign CC Server 2014 trial on a Windows Server 2008 R2 and trying to run a simple script that converts a idml to PDF.
    Here's the code
    document = app.open(File("C:\inetpub\wwwroot\presentation\Documents\Resumes.idml"));
    document.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File ("C:\inetpub\wwwroot\presentation\Documents\file.pdf"));
    document.close();
    I'm running the script in ExtendScript Toolkit CC and it gets hung up every time on the first line, open() method.
    I've verified the path and permissions are fine as other scripts work that write output, such as this one.
    //HelloWorld.jsx
    //Create a new document.
    var myDocument = app.documents.add();
    //Get a reference to the first page.
    var myPage = myDocument.pages.item(0);
    //Create a text frame.
    var myTextFrame = myPage.textFrames.add();
    //Specify the size and shape of the text frame.
    myTextFrame.geometricBounds = ["6p0", "6p0", "18p0", "18p0"];
    //Enter text in the text frame.
    myTextFrame.contents = "Hello World!";
    //Save the document (fill in a valid file path).
    myDocument.save(new File("/c/HelloWorld.indd"));
    //Close the document.
    app.documents.item(0).close();
    No problems at all with that script.
    Please help!

    Figured it out. Path for app.open() needs \\ instead of \.

  • Installed Photoshop cc 2014 asks for serial # - corrupted Windows file permissions

    More of a warning / heads up to all than a question - installing Photoshop cc 2014 [via the CC manager app] caused some Windows file (security) permissions to become corrupt corrupt on my system. Symptoms include cc2014 asking for serial number validation on startup (when, as a cloud version, it should not do so), then being unable to connect to the internet when you press the 'validate serial' button so getting that window into infinite loops, and - a real pain in the *** when trying to fix the above - causing abends of some windows shell functions that in turn cause windows explorer to crash and restart.
    Anyhow, digging into this (fortunately, I am a long time Windows SysProg) I discovered that for reasons unknown, either the CC master app or the actual Photoshop cc2014 installer (or both) are changing file access control permissions on a number of files, mostly DLL's. Most of the files affected are in the (normally hidden) Program Data directory on the windows root disk, Some of them are in the Adobe subdirectory - so fair enough if they want to fool around with their own program - but others being changed are in the Common Files and Microsoft subdirectories. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this is necessary nor why Adobe feel the need to touch files that 'do not belong' to them - something dangerous in the extreme as an external app such as Windows Update might replace or 'repair' the files so touched, and if Adobe / CC are relying on file permissions on non-Adobe files, such changes could result in all manner of random and spurious problems / error messages occurring.
    Anyhow, if, fellow Photoshop cc 2014 user, you get this happen to you then you can fix the file permissions by opening a console window [also called a "DOS box", or "command prompt" depending on your age and knowledge... 8-) ] and run the windows file checker with the command
    "sfc /scannow". Make sure that you use 'run as administrator' to open the console window, or you'll get an error about sfc only being available to administrators. Also a very (very) sensible idea to close all non-essential running applications first to prevent any possibility of weird interactions happening.
    Finally, check that the 'hosts' file in [root drive]:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc is valid - for some reason, it looks like the install tried to check or update this file (again, I have no idea why) but the result was a corrupted hosts file, which I assume is the root cause of the 'unable to connect to host' type internet error messages. Copy the file, rename it as 'hosts.txt' and edit it with notepad or wordpad. Look for lines containing garbage strings at the bottom of the file  (any line that starts with a # ignore, it is a comment, and any line that has IP addresses or host names should be ignored - though if they reference a site such as "someserver.adobe.com" you might want to treat them with suspicion if you continue to get internet 'cant connect to site' type errors.
    Anyhow, when I fixed these two sets of problems, Photoshop cc 2014 started 'right first time' without all the BS messages about serial numbers etc.
    Hope this helps somebody out there in AdobeLand......
    Rick

    Update: I tried several times to reproduce the error, actually it dosen't occur. I changed nothing on my system, without reboot it twice. This is what I said in my beginning times: it occurs sometimes but often. I will keep you up to date.

  • I exported an indesign file as a pdf saved to my desktop, now all indesign files on desktop are turned to pdf. HELP PLEASE

    I exported an indesign file as a pdf saved to my desktop, now all indesign files on desktop are turned to pdf. HELP PLEASE

  • Image in indesign file not showing in pdf export - help!

    Hi there -
    Exporting my indesign file to a pdf has been fine up til now - all the images and text are showing up fine except for one. The image is one that I edited in Photoshop (CS4) - it's a drop shadow layer. I then placed it in Indesign and fiddled with its opacity. And then I exported. Literally, everything else in this rather substantial file is fine. I increased the opacity of the image to 100% and it did actually show up in the pdf, as it appeared on indesign. Then I tried decreasing the opacity by a minimal amount (to 85% - I'm aiming for around 45%) and it disappeared again. Not sure how to fix this. Thanks for any help
    (in Indesign)    (in the pdf)

    Just so you know that Steve isn’t blowing smoke, this is a well known problem with Preview. It works just fine for PDFs out of Word and the like but is simply not up to the task of handling advanced features.

  • Can anyone help me open these InDesign files?

    I've been trying all day to open files for a project I was working on in March with InDesign.  I could open them in March but now my computer is either crashing from trying to load the folder that contains the files, or it gives me one of two error messages.  The first saying I don't have permission to open the file, the second saying the file is already open with another user.
    I have tried opening from my computer and from an external drive, neither work.  I have tried restarting.  I've tried opening as a copy, original and normal.  I've tried opening InDesign as an administrator.  I have tried phoning Adobe and have been on hold for 25 minutes so far.  I have tried the online help but nobody available there.  I don't know what else to try.
    I can create a new InDesign files and I'm not having any trouble with any other Adobe products.  My subscription is until 29th August.  Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Angs

    If you open it in a plain text editor, what do the first few lines look like? If there's no lock file, the next most likely cause for this error is that the files aren't really .indd files.

  • How to make InDesign files open by default in CC, not CC 2014

    Now that I have 2 version of InDesign on my mac (10.8.5 - Mountain Lion), both CC and CC 2014, how can I make my .indd files open by default in CC instead of the new 2014 version?
    I've tried selecting a .indd file, opening the Info panel and changing the "Open with:" option to "Adobe InDesign CC.app 9.2.2.103". I then click Change All.. and confirming. However, this does not work. Double-clicking any .indd file still opens in the 2014 version and the Info panel for any .indd file still shows the 2014 version as the "Open with:" default.
    Any ideas?

    Here are three methods. The first two are free but don't give you exactly what you want. The third requires a third-party utility and works perfectly.
    (1) Right-click on a file and from the menu choose Open With... then choose the version of InDesign you want.
    (2) Create an alias for your InDesign versions and place them on your Desktop. Drag your InDesign file onto the alias of the version you want to open.
    (3) Purchase Soxy from Rorohiko:
    Soxy | Rorohiko Workflow Resources
    NOTE: Rorohiko says the version that supports InDesign CC 2014 is coming soon, they're waiting to test the new version before they release it.
